ㅤㅤㅤㅤthe heat don't bother him nearly as much as the idea of being cooped up inside a motel room while there's still daylight to burn, even if their chasing prospects were slim to none for the day. so he's set up shop outside as a compromise, staked a claim on a corner of one of lily’s pop up tables and poitioned it under the awning in a half-assed attempt at hiding from the worst of the sun's rays. he hadn’t been working for very long when a voice sounds by his side and he’s smiling before he even tears his eyes away from the computer screen. ❝ hey'a kate. take a seat, ❞ blinking up at her against the heat, the smile only grows wider once his heat- and tech-addled brain processes her words.

"You're not the person I want to explain myself to." -Eris Vanserra and his hidden motives
The story of Eris Vanserra haunts me. At this point, most of the characters in ACOTAR are an open book in terms of their backgrounds but Eris's is still so shrouded in mystery and I have to know more. Consider this the inspiration for my following lengthy analysis of all the Eris Vanserra scenes we've been given. Additional inspiration being this clip of SJM from a since deleted live stream on Instagram (still available on YouTube) :
Love that SJM says that Eris is her favorite Autumn Court character but more importantly she spills a little detail about Eris having a secret history and a secret motivation behind his character. I think most readers assumed by now that Eris is primed for a redemption arc but this simply could've been reserved to him making amends for leaving Mor injured in the woods. No, this is something more than that- something significant that affected his actions back then and is still influencing them now.
Let's start breaking everything down:
Everything starts with: Eris found and left Mor in the woods at the Autumn Court border after she was tortured dumped there by her father, Keir.
Why did he do this?
“I knew why you did it... So I gave you your freedom, ending the betrothal in no uncertain terms" - Eris in ACOWAR
After Mor slept with Cassian, Eris knew Mor did it because she wanted out of the engagement (for a secret reason- on her end- that we'll touch on in a bit) so he ended the betrothal as she wished.
But why did Eris leave her there, injured with fatal wounds? This is still the biggest point of hostility between him and the IC.
"There were forces at work that you have never considered," Eris said coldly. "And I am not going to waste my breath explaining them to you. Believe what you want about me" - ACOWAR
What are these forces?
We're given an answer to this question during a scene in ACOFAS when Mor is recalling the memory of that day at the Autumn Court border.
“No one touches her,” he said. Eris. “The moment we do, she’s our responsibility.” Cold, unfeeling words. “But—but they nailed a—” “No one touches her.” - ACOFAS
If Eris or his men provided aid to Mor she would've become their responsibility, implying that she would've become a ward of the Autumn Court essentially. This is probably why Keir even dumped her on the border in the first place, because he knew that if the Autumn Court provided her aid they would have to assume responsibility for her. It was created as a lose-lose situation for Mor: get help from Eris and be trapped at the Autumn Court or be refused help and left to suffer and potentially die in the woods.
“I take it you do not wish to live here, Morrigan.” She would rather die here, bleed out here. She would rather die and return—return as something wicked and cruel, and shred them all apart. He must have read it in her eyes. A small smile curved his lips. “I thought so.” -ACOFAS
He knew she'd rather die than live there so he acted according to her wishes, even though it was done cruelly. This scene, which we're given from Mor's perspective, shows that she heard the true reason why Eris refused to provide her aid but because of the trauma of the whole situation she likely never put two and two together.
But the situation is a bit more complex than that. There is more to the reason that Eris left her in the woods to have her freedom.
“Eris nodded to where Mor watched them from beside Feyre and Rhys, her face neutral and aloof. “She knows the truth but has never revealed it." “Why?” “Because she is afraid of it.” - ACOSF; dance scene between Nesta and Eris
Eris knows something about Mor that she's afraid to reveal. What's the only fact we know about Mor that she's been hiding her entire life? That she's queer. It seems somehow Eris was aware of this.
“Eris looked between them, smiling faintly. Secretly. As if he knew something that Azriel didn’t. "I knew why you did it" Again that secret smile that had Mor shrinking." -ACOWAR
Later on in ACOWAR, we find out the big secret Mor is hiding is that she's romantically attracted to females. Alright, so somehow Eris knew Mor was queer back when they were betrothed. It seems that this was part of the reason he left her to her freedom.
Despite the cruel nature he's described to have, Eris keeps the knowledge that Mor is queer to himself. Eris left Mor in the woods because he knew she wanted her freedom and the reason she wanted her freedom was because she is queer. Out of some uncharacteristic kindness, Eris won't share this information with the rest of the IC because he seems to not want to out her because he knows she's afraid of the truth. Refer to the quote between Eris and Nesta above for proof of this.
But what are Eris's own secret motivations in all of this?
“So I gave you your freedom, ending the betrothal in no uncertain terms.”
“And what happened next,” Azriel growled.
A shadow crossed Eris’s face. “There are few things I regret. That is one of them. But … perhaps one day, now that we are allies, I shall tell you why. What it cost me.”
This is such an important line and one that if you don't dissect it properly, you won't understand it's real meaning.
"What it cost me". The cost that Eris is referring to is one that he suffered as a result of leaving Mor unaided in the woods. NOT from breaking the engagement, from leaving her. "The cost" is something that would've been unaffected by breaking the engagement (because Eris has no remorse over that) but affected by abandoning an injured Mor (because this is what Eris labels as one of the few things he regrets). Mor being left in the woods was, in the grand scheme of things, inconsequential for the rest of Prythian. The only people negatively affected by it were Mor and the rest of the IC.
"Perhaps one day... I shall tell you why" when Eris says this, he means: perhaps one day he'll them why he regrets it, NOT why he did it. It's important to read this quote in the context of its surrounding passages because you'll see that he had an opportunity to explain why he left her but he instead tells Mor he's not going to "waste his breath explaining it to her."
So after breaking down those lines we know: Eris regrets abandoning Mor because of something it cost him in relation to the IC now hating him after the events at the border but "the cost" is something he's hesitant to reveal to them.
For the sake of the analysis, let's go over a few things we know Eris does canonically care about and why they are not the cost he's referring to:
His father's throne: It's not secret that Eris wants to usurp his father. Feyre even notes how startled she was to hear Eris discuss killing his father so blatantly. Also, if the marriage to Mor would've aided Eris in taking the throne then Eris would've expressed remorse at ending the engagement but he didn't. He only regretted leaving her injured.
His mother, Lady of Autumn: The text shows us that Eris is concerned over the welfare of this mother when he angles his body to protect her during the High Lord meeting scene. However at the time of Eris's betrothal to Mor, his mother wasn't miserable in her marriage the way she's described now. It wasn't until LoA's affair with Helion was revealed, which happened decades after the Eris and Mor situation, that Beron began abusing his wife. Of course, Eris undoubtedly wants his father dead because of this but we know it's not "the cost" that Eris references since it wasn't a factor at the time.
“Helion shrugged. “On and off for decades. Until Beron found out. They say the lady was all brightness and smiles before that. And after Beron was through with her. You saw what she is.” “What did he do to her?” “The same things he does now.” Helion waved a hand. “Belittle her, leave bruises where no one but him will see them.” - ACOWAR
Lucien: Eris has a soft spot for Lucien but he wasn't born for decades after everything happened so he can't be a factor in why Eris regrets his actions.
His father tortures him: It's revealed at the end of ACOSF that Beron tortures Eris after Cassian realizes Eris is injured after returning back from Autumn. We're not told how long it's been occurring and Eris is extremely reluctant to speak on the matter. However, if this was the big secret Eris has been hiding there'd be a bit more emphasis placed on the reveal. In fact, Cassian pushes him again after that to tell him the true reason he left Mor on the border (keep in mind Cassian doesn't know Mor is queer and Eris is refusing to reveal that information to others) and asks Eris for the real reason he's back the Night Court trying to make amends.
Why is Eris back at the Night Court after everything that happened, pushing so hard to build an alliance?
When pushed for the truth, Eris tells Cassian:
"You're not the person I want to explain myself to" - ACOSF
Cassian assumes Eris means Mor and tells him she won't want to hear his explanations anyway. But is Mor really the person Eris was referencing. I think not, given we've been given these lines:
Eris nodded to where Mor watched them from beside Feyre and Rhys, her face neutral and aloof. “She knows the truth but has never revealed it." -ACOSF
"There were forces at work that you have never considered," Eris said coldly. "And I am not going to waste my breath explaining them to you. Believe what you want about me"- ACOWAR
Eris says that Mor already knows the truth and has explicitly said he doesn't care what she thinks about him. He has nothing to explain to her. And aside from those two facts, which already make it clear enough that Mor is not the person Eris meant, what more would Eris gain from speaking to Mor? Assuaging his guilt? That could be a reasonable explanation if it weren't for Cassian already asking Eris if guilt is what was motivating him, Cassian realizing it's not and pushing for Eris to "give me a damn answer".
"You're not the person I want to explain myself to"
So, who in the IC does Eris want to explain himself to?
Mor? No, for reasons stated above
Cassian? No, they're speaking in that scene and if Cassian were the person then Eris wouldn't have said that
Feyre? Nesta? Elain? Weren't alive so aren't applicable
Lucien? Wasn't alive during the incident and is thus unaffected
Rhysand? We're told in ACOSF (Chapter 7) that Eris already has Rhysand's trust and allyship
Amren? I guess I can't necessarily eliminate Amren as the person Eris wants to explain himself to but let's be real, it's not her.
Azriel? Hmm....The person who arguably hates Eris more than even Mor herself. Who has such a burning passionate rage towards Eris that he attacked him during a High Lord meeting, yet also dropped everything to fly to the Continent to save Eris when he was abducted by Koschei.
Conclusion and remaining questions
Let's put everything together:
Eris is back at the Night Court attempting to smooth things over, make amends, and build an allyship. On the surface, we're told it's all because he wants the throne. But what we now know from SJM (in her interview) and our textual analysis is that Eris paid a big, deeply personal price due to the fall out of leaving Mor injured at the Autumn Court border. This cost was directly tied to the IC's perception of him. Eris lost something or the chance at something when the Night Court began to hate him. So he's back, 500-ish years later, attempting to make amends because of the same problem that plagued him all those centuries ago. We also know there's only one person he's interested in explaining himself to- and that person interestingly seems to be Azriel. Why would Eris want to explain himself to Azriel? Why go to these lengths to make amends with him? Was "the cost" Eris paid 500 years ago tied to Azriel? Is this all tied to Eris's "secret history and secret motivations" that SJM referenced? Crack theory time: What if Eris and Azriel are mates? If they are, it would seem maybe Eris knows about it but Azriel isn't consciously aware? It could explain Azriel's extreme and passionate reactions to Eris. What if when Eris became an enemy of the Night Court he lost his chance at having a connection to his mate. It would also explain why Eris is so tight lipped about his secret motivations. We know that Beron tortures Eris as he is now, imagine what he would do to Eris if he found out he was queer. If Eris is queer it would also explain his empathy to Mor and his reluctance to tell her truth to other people. This could also explain why Azriel is the one person Eris wants to explain himself to, because Azriel is the only person whose opinion he cares about. AND this would also provide an answer to the great "Azriel mate debate". Eris and Azriel also provide interesting foils to one another: flame and shadow- which is a theme that's mentioned in both of SJM's other series. We also know how much SJM loves her enemies to lovers.
"There was an icy rage in Azriel I'd never been able to thaw" -Rhysand in ACOMAF
Azriel is routinely described as icy and frozen, physically and emotionally. What better to thaw ice than fire!
If you read this far- thank you and ily.

Friday, June 20th, 2025.

How would you describe yourself in one positive word? Helpful.
Iced tea or iced coffee? Iced coffee, but I will order iced tea at restaurants once in a blue moon. However, if we're talking about iced tea made in the manner of iced coffee, with milk and creamer and such, then I enjoy them both.
Do you like decorating your house for the holidays? I like the idea of having the house all decorated, and I will do a little bit of decorating for Christmas and maybe Halloween, but it's not to the same extent as when I was younger.
What did you do on your latest birthday?
How often do you go on vacation? The last time we went on anything like a vacation would have been the trip to Georgia in 2011.
Do you get along with your family? I get along with my mom and dad, but not with my sibling.
Would you ever dye your hair pink for charity? Sure.
What’s your perfect pizza? Crispy on the outside, thick and chewy on the inside, not too much sauce, a generous amount of cheese, olives, mushrooms, onions, green pepper, etc.
Favorite dog breed? I don't have one.
What brand of make up do you use? (if you wear it) I haven't worn makeup for years.
Are you currently waiting for/on anything? Not really.
What is your favorite way to pass time? Volunteer, take surveys, watch something on Youtube, make art, visit the mountain park, chat with my dad, read.
What is your favorite not-so-famous band/artist? I'm not sure.
Do you have any pictures or posters on your bedroom wall? There aren't any framed photographs or posters, but there are various decorative bits, as well as a giant tapestry of misty mountains behind my bed.
Have you ever been stuck in an elevator? No.
Are you a morning person? I am a morning person in the sense that I wake up early, but I'm not as energetic as I was in the past.
What is the most embarrassing thing you have done? Ugh.
What is your most dreaded chore? Probably dusting, which is wild because I spend a good portion of my time at the animal shelter just wiping things down, so you'd think a quick dusting at home would be no problem.
What is the current temperature where you live? It's 96F.
Can you walk in heels? Not well.
Do you like to go to the movies or do you prefer to rent movies? I'm not the biggest fan of going to the movie theater, but it is something that my mom and I do together. I wouldn't watch very many movies at all if it wasn't for that.
Do you still watch Disney movies? I would.
Do you ever wear hats/beanies? Mainly beanies. I feel like I look weird in baseball caps.
What was the happiest moment of your life so far? Perhaps in childhood, before I truly knew the depths of despair. But also now because at least so far, I have survived, and there's something about "overcoming" that is very fulfilling. Also, when I really stop to think about it, the good times can be sweeter because there is that contrast. I know where I have been, and I am so far from that darkness.
How many hours of sleep did you get last night? Around seven.
What’s your favorite app? YouTube.
Something that annoys you about your family? Blah.
Would you rather time travel into the past or future? The past. Not my own past, but the more distant, historical past.
Do you get scared easily? When it comes to certain things, yes.
Do you want any tattoos? I have several, but I don't want any more at the moment.
What is your favorite thing about yourself? Despite all the doubt I heap upon myself, I actually am a somewhat kind, generous, and thoughtful person.
What was the last song you listened to? Something classical on the way home from the animal shelter.
What is your favorite meal? I'm not sure.
Would you ever dye your hair blue? Maybe a pastel blue.
What is the saddest song you’ve ever heard? Black by Pearl Jam and A Song To Say Goodbye by Placebo tend to get to me.
What’s the best present you’ve received? I'm not sure.
What insect do you hate the most? Cockroaches.
How are you feeling right now? A mix of emotions, but mostly satisfyingly tired from my morning at the shelter. We deep cleaned the "big room" (as we call it) following the spay & neuter clinic that took place Tues-Thurs.
What is your favorite snack? One of them used to be yogurt bowls, but now I'm not sure if my stomach can handle them. I just Googled if it's possible to develop lactose intolerance later in life and… :'( I hope it's not that. I hope my stomach is just "generally" upset for whatever reason, and I'll be able to eat yogurt, etc, again once it feels better.
Do you have any freckles? I don't.
What is the weirdest dream you’ve ever had? I hardly ever have a dream that isn't weird.
Donuts or muffins? Donuts, but I love muffins too.
How many languages can you speak? Just English.
Do you ever make new year's resolutions? I have.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Hopefully, employed at the animal shelter (perhaps even cattery lead), healthier, more independent, stronger social circle, etc.
Do you believe in life after death? I lean towards no, but I guess I'll find out eventually.
If you were a color from the rainbow, what would you be, and why? Blue.
Do you ever read magazines? Rarely.
Do you like Chinese food? I do.
What is the first letter of your middle name?
Are you afraid of snakes? As long as they aren't venomous, then not really. I like snakes.
Do you ever watch YouTube videos? Yeah.
Who is your OTP? (one true pairing, a couple you really like together) Aside from OCs, probably Purslane and Campion from House of Suns.
Would you ever have a wild animal as a pet if possible? No.
What’s something that has made you smile today? Various people at the shelter.

WWE Saturday Night's Main Event (26th January 2025) - REVIEW
This is the first time I've written something like this alongside the live stream so let's see how it goes. I was generally underwhelmed by the previous entry which I thought had a poor presentation on YouTube, but I do like the old school vibe and I can see the benefit of having a kind of mini-PLE presentation.
I'm not expecting any real surprises tonight but I am at least hoping for a fun show. It's disappointing that the Women's Division seems to be getting the short straw despite introducing two new championships to the division. I think they can do much better by their talent roster of women.
With that being said ... I'm excited for the show.
Jessie Ventura sounds as if we're still in the 90's and I was very amused by Joe Tessitore smiling as Jessie doesn't appear to be facing or looking where he should be.
MATCH 1 - Rhea Ripley vs. Nia Jax
PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS - A rematch from Elimination Chamber 2025, Ripley gets a mighty pop and while I think it's a good thing for this title being defended, I don't think the outcome is in doubt. I love the run Nia Jax has had, but I think I would rather have gone for someone else here rather than serve Jax up as canon fodder for Ripley's first title defense. Why not showcase and build upon the newly established Women's Intercontinental Title instead?
THE MATCH - Loved the opening exchanges as Nia Jax doesn't allow Lilian Garcia to finish the Big Fight Night style introductions. The match starts with a fast paced intensity that I was not expecting but certainly appreciate although the commercial breaks really disrupt the flow of the match for the viewer at home. If you needed a reminder that this isn't a PLE, then the commercial break is that!
After the break, it is power move after power move with the fast paced opening not letting up. Nia Jax has really impressed me since returning to WWE but it is very clear here just why Rhea Ripley is the biggest star of the Women's Division right now with incredible showcases of strength against a powerful opponent.
THE RESULT - A short match with a forgone conclusion in terms of the result, but I do feel that they judged the style of the match perfectly against its length and was a lot of fun overall.
MATCH 2 - Bron Breakker vs. Sheamus
PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS - I've really enjoyed the rivalry between Bron Breakker, Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser the last few months. Their Triple Threat Match was incredible and the follow up singles matches have also been fun as well. I feel the logical endgame is for Sheamus to finally win the IC title but I would've assumed that this would make more for a WrestleMania moment. So I'm not expecting a title change ... although I may be wrong though.
THE MATCH - I expected it to be physical and it certainly didn't disappoint in the earlier stages with two standout moments from both men around the ring heading into the commercial break. Breakker's spear, catching Sheamus mid-air, in particular looked like a hard hit. Not quite as fast paced as the previous match, but still delivering the kind of moments you'd want to see even if it is lacking the intensity of some of their previous matches.
The match seemed to be moving faster after the break and hitting the high spots, but I couldn't escape the feeling that the match just wasn't being given the time to turn into something naturally special. As I finish typing that, was over with a clean finish.
THE RESULT - the win for Bron Breakker certainly cements his Intercontinental Title reign further but the match itself wasn't anything special and I say that with some disappointment given how good some of their other matches had been. Wrong match for the the wrong show maybe? I dunno, but I'm curious as to where Sheamus goes from here.
Contract Signing for the Royal Rumble Ladder Match - Shawn Michaels Moderating
PRE-SEGMENT - This has been the best feud of Cody Rhodes' run as World Champion. Kevin Owens makes for such an effective heel with the theft of the of the Winged Eagle belt makes for a fun addition. However I am at the stage where I think this feud is cooked and ready to be eaten and I don't want to see it spoiled. I don't see why this needs to be on this show and not simply on Smackdown? Both are outstanding on the mic and I'm sure will cut great promos so let's see how things turn out.
POST-SEGMENT - this panned out more or less how anyone could reasonably expect it to but what fun it was. Kevin Owens is so much better as a heel than a face for me and this confrontation had such an intensity that I do think it actually added a little more to what was already a strong story. Thumbs up for the inclusion of Shawn Michaels as well, it didn't too much for me but it was at least something different.
MATCH 3 - Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu
PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS - When they announced this match, I was genuinely surprised and thought it would end up on Smackdown only. Jacob Fatu has easily been the MVP of the New Bloodline and is exciting to watch and him facing off against Braun Strowman is definitely an attraction I'm game for. I'm not expecting this to last long, but I'm expecting it to be fun. On a separate point, Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu are both so good, you've got to wonder why they need Solo Sikoa.
THE MATCH - It's Braun Strowman who benefits early on with some dominance over Fatu but it is the latter's suicide dive outside of the ring that is the defining moment of those early exchanges.
I love the heavy hits outside of the ring as Jacob is sent flying over the announcers table. But it is Jacob Fatu who takes control and ends up getting himself disqualified when the referee tries to stop him from severely injuring Braun Strowman.
THE RESULT - I'm not a fan of the finish here personally as I feel Jacob Fatu has already been well and truly been established as a powerful, monster heel and this at times felt very similar to what Big Bronson Reed did to Seth Rollins. It's clearly designed to establish Jacob Fatu even further which it no doubt has as the fans were clearly into it. Me personally, I would've preferred an actual finish to the match.
PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS - I go back and forth when it comes to Jey Uso. I've loved his work with the Bloodline and he has had some great singles matches, but I'm still to be fully convinced that he is good enough to be World Champion. But his Intercontinental Title win was an incredible moment and he clearly is a fan favourite so there's definitely something that I'm not seeing. On the other hand, I am a huge Gunther fan and I think they've booked him perfectly since he arrived on the main roster. As Michael Cole pointed out, he's been a champion for 80% of his time in WWE so he's incredibly talented in this kind of role. I think he's been a solid World Champion, but like Cody Rhodes, he hasn't had the feud needed to really establish this reign. I don't think this match will alter that either way but I'm hopeful that it should be a fun encounter after a small but solid build-up.
THE MATCH - This is the kind of match that we've seen from Gunther and Jey Uso before, but it works for a reason. Gunther has always been convincing as a powerhouse with his hard hitting chops and style of utilising various combinations of moves to win matches gives him an old school credibility. But Jey Uso, here as the underdog, goes toe to toe with Gunther and scores a few near falls that gets strong reactions from the crowd, Michael Cole and even myself while watching. The spear and top rope splash near-falls almost had me convinced that Jey would score that three count. But alas, it was not to be. It never felt like a PLE quality match but rather a strong Raw main event.
THE RESULT - It was of course the expected result and probably the best match of the night. With Gunther seemingly not featuring on the Royal Rumble, this gives him something to do with the title between now and presumably Elimination Chamber which follows. It was a good match but not quite up there with some of his other matches.
OVERALL
It was a show with no surprises and predictable outcomes but some good wrestling to keep things entertaining. I thought it was a better show than the previous one but I do think more could be done to showcase other talent on the roster, particular in the women's division. I do have to remind myself that this is not a PLE but it's done its job and I now look forward to the Royal Rumble.

A Year of Animation Day 17: ATLA S3E5-8
Date: January 17, 2025
Day: 17
Content Watched: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Season 3, Episodes 5-8
Year: 2005-2208
Rating: TV-Y7-FV
Run Time: 92 mins.
Before we get started, I'm going to reference another video about why Avatar: The Last Airbender is a masterpiece. I wanted to bring this one to your attention because this YouTuber makes the argument that while other animation relies on a lot of movement and bright color schemes, ATLA doesn't, and that's why it's good. This reminds me a little of what I said about the stillness of The Red Turtle, and I'm starting to feel like by the end of the year, the underlying assumptions behind Hypothesis Seven are just going to fall apart. I also think this video re-states something that I've said I feel, which is that it's shot the way a live-action story would be shot, and they mention that many of the shots just look beautiful, like art, which I don't think I've really talked about, but I would absolutely agree with. One of the other things I really like that they point out is how bending evoloves over the course of the show and we see it used in new and interesting ways, and I think this is the idea I want to focus on today.
I love the consistency of these episodes. Everytime we see Aang's back or Toph's feet, we're reminded of his wound her her sole-less shoes. "The Puppetmaster" specifically has some beautiful shots of the forest, and the cut to the town really does remind me of a Miyizaki film. The animators are also at the top of their game here to create a horror atmosphere. I love all the close-ups on Hama's face, which are really creepy, and the wind picking up and knocking the leaves off the trees as Katara and Hama argue. There's also a shot where the branches over the moon resemble claws, which reminded me of Coraline.
In regards to new and interesting ways to use bending, this is the introduction of bloodbending! The episode is called "The Puppetmaster," and I really do feel like the characters resemble marionettes when someone is bloodbending them. But pulling water out of nearby plants is also really interesting, like the moment when Katara dehydrates a tree so much it shatters. I particularly like the fire lilies turning black as they wilt and die, as well as how that circle of black remains in the red field as Katara and Hama walk away from it. I haven't actually talked about this, but the ravages of the enviornment is another major theme in ATLA--with Hei Bai in season 1, the fish in "The Painted Lady," and arguably some smaller moments as well, like the drill, or even "The Siege of the North." It is something that happens, especially in war time, and I like how the animators capture this as a visual theme, even when it's not the primary topic of the episode.
Another bit of animation I liked is during Hama's flashback, as the waterbenders slowly fade away, leaving Hama alone, ringed by fire nation soldiers. But my favorite bit of animation is when she says "you have to keep an open mind. There's water in places you never think about." What I like about this is that the words themselves are not sinister. Here, she's teaching Katara how to pull water from the air, and she could have made that water into snowflakes or filled a canteen with it. Instead, she encases her fingers in ice and throws these at a tree like knives. It is the animation that sets the mood here and sets up Hama to be the villain she's revealed to be.
Now on to the episodes themselves:
"The Beach" introduces combustion bending--a new thing we're doing with bending, and the battle between Aang and the Combustion Man is a beautiful piece of animation. This is all I'm going to say on this episode because it is the only episode of Avatar I actively dislike, so I'm going to dedicate a different post to explaining that.
"The Avatar and the Firelord" is like the return of "The Storm." It's a lot of exposition, handled in flashbacks, cutting between Zuko and Aang. And like "The Storm," it works. Again, I think it's the parallels in charaterization between the two of them that makes the episode work. Also, they *are* the Avatar and fire lord... almost. And they will be besties? So, it's also an entire episode of foreshadowing.
I love the opening of "The Runaway" because we don't find out until close to the end that Katara and Toph planned this, and I could almost buy that Katara would have turned Toph in. Also, it's some nice character development for both girls, and I like that their battle isn't over like... "girly shit." It's not a boy or clothes or something. It's just opposing beliefs and backgrounds. Katara thinks that Toph's behavior is going to get them caught and Toph thinks she's a stick in the mud. To be fair, Katara shouldn't have gone through Toph's stuff, but she is right. I do feel bad for Katara in this episode, because with the situation in the Southern Water Tribe, she has had to grow up pretty fast. And while no, she's not anybody's mother, they do need a voice of reason, and Katara is serving that purpose. I do like that we get Sokka's perspective on this, and the whole Katara-overhears-them-talking-about-her plotline is a little trite, but the episode as a whole is satisfying because the characters are so well developed.
Great. We've been through all of them. Because the episode I really want to talk about is "The Puppetmaster." Which is my favorite episode. Period.
I'm not sure exactly why this is my favorite. I am a fan of horror stories, though I'm very picky about them. "The Puppetmaster" is one that I like, and I think they effectively use common tropes. It feels like they're paying homage to the genre in general. I like that Sokka's Instincts are correct again, and how how Toph's claim that people people are screaming under the mountain turns out to be real, though I was a little disappointed that the story Katara tells at the beginning didn't come back in any way. I also think the assumption that the moon spirit is to blame, and Sokka's defense of her is a great red herring, but I'm not sure what Hama's motivation for warning the gaang about the disappearances is, and I think maybe they should have gotten this information a different way.
But I think my favorite part of this episode is the last line. As Hama is being dragged away, she tells Katara that it's too late. She is a bloodbender now, and she will always be a bloodbender. There is no going back. The whole time, the goal of the episode has been to stop whatever has been taking people during the full moon. And when it's discovered that that's Hama, the goal becomes to stop Hama. Only when it's too late do we realize that the only way to stop Hama is to not become her.
Because Hama is Katara. Or, at least, she's what Katara could be. Like Katara, she was the last waterbender in her village, which she fought desperately to defend and lost many loved ones along the way. Like Katara, she's a powerful bender with a lot of anger. I've talked about Katara's anger in previous posts. She may be a waterbender, but she has a fiery temper. We see this in the very first episode. We also see it in her anger at Jet, her anger at Toph, her anger at Zuko, her anger at father, her anger at her brother, and even her battle with Master Pakku (which is basically a precursor to her battle with Hama).
The big difference between Hama and Katara is that Katara hasn't lost her compassion yet. We see from episodes like "Imprisoned" and "The Painted Lady" that she is deeply compassionate, and often that compassion fuels her anger. But anger is a double-edged weapon. When used wisely, it can fight injustice. But when it is over-fed, it can damage people beyond repair--like Hama. After all, Hama speaks about the waterbenders held in the fire nation in the plural--"they kept us off the gound, they bound our hands and feet," but she never mentions rescuing anyone else when she frees herself--implying that by the time she escaped the fire nation prison, her anger had burned away her compassion.
Remember back in season one when Jeong Jeong told Katara he was jealous of her abilities? Because water is a healing element and fire is a destructive one? And that every day he has to walk a knife's edge? This is the ultimate evidence that water is no different--it can be life-giving and life-taking, and in a beautiful turn of irony, Katara will now spend the rest of her life walking that knife edge.

Watched the WayV Nihao Stages for Phantom and Diamonds Only, and the interview video
Something very odd is that the Youtube videos I linked couldn't be embedded in Tumblr posts. All of them only appear as links when I add them to a Tumblr post.
It looks to me like Nihao intends to be like a Chinese version of Studio Choom where they focus on the performances.
Kun's mesh shirt bro. That's an outfit I would have expected from Ten. He wore that jacket over and expected people not to look underneath I think lol.
I don't think WayV's performed Diamonds Only in full anywhere else :o
I think Poppin Love is like Diamonds in that it's a B-side but I found it more catchy than the title track.
WayV was Nihao's first ever guest! :o
Lol all of them reading from a screen to describe Phantom and Diamonds Only
Kun, looking at Ten: What features of the dance can you point out to us? Ten, quietly: Don't do this to me Anyway, Ten said to pay attention to hands and claws :P
All of them going around and naming songs on their EP that they liked and Winwin was like "I liked Try My Luck because I did good on that song" and everybody else agreed that he did do well on that song haha.
The Chinese subtitles are white, and the backdrop is mostly white, so it's difficult read :/
Talking about how they needed to be careful while dancing with the nail guards
WayV was asked to demonstrate the dance and everyone was like "Let's go Ten!" and then Ten was like "well I do it every time..." and then everyone changed their tune to "Let's go Kun!"
LMAO the way they changed the topic so fast from Phantom to personal lives. This question is: If Leon, Louis, and Bella could suddenly speak, what language do you think they would speak and what would they say? (You can see what I mean about the text being hard to read)
Yangyang said that Bella would speak Cantonese X3 Probably because dog dorm has two Cantonese members and her dad is Dejun XD
Dejun: Yes, her mother tongue is Cantonese Hendery: Then what would Bella say to you? Dejun: dOn'T lEaVe Me, DoN't LeAvE mE (in Mandarin and then again in Cantonese) Dejun why are you so mean to your clingy daughter lol
Yangyang said that Louis would speak English and Leon would speak Korean :P
Next question is asking what food would represent each of them Dejun: snow pear Hendery: blueberry Sicheng: coffee Kun: dragonfruit Yangyang: strawberry ice cream Ten: red wine These fit pretty well haha.
Next question was asking about memorable styles they'd had in the past
Hendery said the princess party XD
Dejun liked the Phantom styling and Sicheng highlighted Dejun's skirt with pants look <3
Ahh next question was about the season's greetings they'd shot with crowns that had been a massive hit :D
They were talking about things to do during the first snow and Sicheng was like "hey I could take you guys snowboarding!" and then he was like "but dudes, I'm actually, like, really good at it"
LOL Ten told the same badminton story that he told about Hendery. Ten also met up to play badminton with Sicheng and it turned out that Sicheng was not good at it. So Ten is telling us not to trust Sicheng when he says he's good at snowboarding lol. And Sicheng was like "nah, I let you win" (using the Kong Rong giving pears story to exemplify :P)
Hendery's wish for 2023 was to grow even taller XD Dejun was like "aren't we done growing?" and Yangyang was like "naw we can keep growing until we're 24 or 25!"
Sicheng said Dejun had the biggest transformation for Phantom and I agree!!!!!! He's been finding his own style more and more as time passes :3
Hendery says he and Xiaojun are the funniest in the group X3
Yangyang said off stage he's 80% cute and 20% cool and on stage he's 50% cute and 50% cool :3 And he said it all while being very teehee cutesy

Did I miss the mass 2015 human update?
I feel like I have the cranium the size of a walnut with the smoothness of the clearest of marbles. Been living in Windows 4 as everyone else has been slowly updating all the way to Windows 11. I’ve now just got it all in a single month after sperging out and raging in a notebook, and somehow gave myself therapy.
When I think about all the 4th wall and put it into perspective. I realized something. That’s all it really is in real life.
Perspective. (and maybe some control)
I came to realize this isn’t about a single story. The 4th wall is us, in a sense, waking up looking back at who is controlling us, being self-aware of our own actions and how people view us, as if looking through a TV screen to catch you; Bosses, cameras? Where we don't want to fall out of line, or be caught, otherwise it's Wanda Vision all over again. We have rules and laws for a reason.
Ads and stories that are too conveniently popping up on matters we're dealing with, surfing through the web until we're convinced of something, God directing us for divine intervention cause everyone's fighting? Heck if one can take the necessary requirements, they could be the next big thing, the next Big Shot...
How they want to control our actions as we do content creators and how streamers use it for personal gain too, but also to make us happy, sad, mad, informed. But if you're not funny, enjoyable, or if there's something dastardly hidden, you'll be locked away and go crazy as the world keeps spinning. I ain't asking what the Dog doing, chill out and throw some ice, could care less, he brought something amazing out that got me back into the spirit of thinking and creating.
Gaster isn’t just some random entity, he’s a person, a concept, an epiphany that requires those “fun, key values” of those who remember themselves, and or him/her/them, whatever Gaster is…
Someone who, when we see what they were capable of, from building a soul-extracting machine and something to power the entire civilization of people, the core, we ask who Gaster is, what Gaster is, when was Gaster, where was Gaster….. But we never ask, How is Gaster… at least before the fall.
We don't really know who Gaster is so we come up with our own narrative, from him being just sad goop droop in comic form, or even better, where he was a faceless monster creating more. All we know is that he was the previous Royal Scientist, but the dude did more than just advanced science. He had to know how to build things like an engineer, nothing just pops into existence, if I recall correctly it does say he built the core.
When we do find something that only we want to see, we scream “Eureka! I found it!”, like Isaac Newton… or Gaster when we touch him. But he doesn’t stay… he vanishes… he runs…
It says Gaster fell, but did he really?
Is it possible that he willingly let himself be ripped apart in time?
There’s a word for this in Japan, Hikikomori, someone who severely socially withdraws, who hides away and gives up.
(God fucking damn I became the thing I swore to destroy, a goddamn literature teacher, I don’t know why the curtains are blue, they’re depressed??)
...Depression can be like running on autopilot, just going day by day without thinking, just existing without any substance.
(…Thank you, to all the Youtubers, Comedians, Memers, People who i’m about to name drop, who’ve helped me get through funky times and learn to value myself and what is legitimately wrong from right. To all the friends I made along the way.)
We realized what Gaster could have been, maybe he was logical, funny, and ironic like Sans, or was someone we looked up to, for me it was people like Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Aries Spears, “Fluffy” aka Gabriel Iglesias, FredoOnTV, and especially Classicmand.
To the dorky and endearing, salty, unyieldingly positive and infectiously bright Papyrus, Jordan the Stallion (The CEO of Fast Food secrets), CalebCity, Dashie, Markiplier, and JackScepticEye.
Who’s intentions were for good like Asgore, The Pope, MatPat from GameTheory, MeatCanyon, Avocado Animations, Neytrix, TheDadvocate, DougDoug’s hilariously random, nonsensical videos , and so, so, SO, many more who created amazing, horrifying, and inspirational art that helped me to try and understand people more.
But maybe… he could’ve been the exact opposite. Only a few monsters; people, actually knew him after all and they don't stay for long and disappear. We're not even sure what his true appearance is but we choose the aesthetically pleasing one.
“Beware the man, that speaks in hands. It's rude to talk about someone who's listening” and more.
We'll never know what kind of person they're until we truly get to sit down and talk with them. Because Gaster can be any of us for someone else.
Me and my word vomit.

Steve Harrington, Eddie Munson, Robin Buckley and Nancy Wheeler have a well-known channel on YouTube (the name is something horrible and punny that Eddie and Robin made up, way before they blew up - Four Some (just some four guys and gals you perv). They cover pretty much everything - music reviews, various activities like ice skating, pole dancing or sculpting, they do tasting videos, social experiments and much more. Their personalities are so different but somehow that only makes their content more appealing. It doesn't matter if their videos contain Steve and Eddie replicating the famous pottery scene from the Ghost (and Robin's screeches that they ruined a completely fine vase) or Robin testing whether Nancy's vocal range increases proportionately to how many wine glasses she drinks
Gradually they grow their audience and gather a small crew that works with them. Barb Holland does a lot of editing and directing and she is getting recognized for her achievements, just like Gareth Emerson for his work with sound. Everyone in their crew are friends and are supporting each other in growing and promoting their talents.
There is only one person who has always remained a mystery. The person filming them, always hidden behind a camera. Credits always mention Chris C. and the fanbase tries to pry and figure out who they are, they really do, but the group shuts down their attempts almost instantly. "Chris has been instrumental to this channel's success," Eddie says and there is something hard behind his eyes, something that almost never makes it past his laid-back attitude and usual theatrics. "They have decided to stay out of our videos for a reason and we'd like you to respect their decision."
Not everyone drops it, but the four creators assume a united front and eventually, people stop prying. So it comes as a shock when around a year later, a new video drops on the channel. But the face in it is unknown.
"Hi guys," the young woman smiles and she looks so dejected, so scared, but the sound guy Garreth sits next to her and squeezes her hand, grounding her. "I swore I'd never sit in front of a camera again, but...I think it's time. So let me introduce myself. I am Chrissy Cunningham, but you know me as Chris C. And also..." she takes a deep breath, "I am also Chrissy from the Cunningham family channel."
Chrissy goes through it all. She talks about her life with her mother, an obsessive family blogger, who had Chrissy give up all her hobbies, her friends, her privacy from a young age. How her only friend became the school outcast, Eddie, and she had to keep him a secret too - not because she was ashamed, he meant everything to her, but because her mother would steal him too. How she could never have anything of her own, was always on camera, always tested for reactions, always forced to perform and mocked for it at school. How she couldn't handle it anymore and as soon as she was eighteen, she moved in with Eddie and his uncle. How it was only then that she started learning about herself, about who she was and what she wanted to do. "Now that you know who I am, I hope you can look past what I was made to do years ago and see me as...me. Just me."
She and Gareth leave their seats and are replaced with Eddie and Nancy. While Eddie mostly sits quietly, Nancy introduces their newest project that Chrissy suggested - documentaries on dangers of YouTube, TikTok and their insufficient regulations, especially when it comes to family vloggers and loss of privacy. "It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but that is exactly the point", says Nancy and looks directly at the camera. "We're here on camera, showing you parts of our lives that we want to show. But there are many who didn't consent to this, many who are being exploited for views. And on behalf of this chanel, let me address those who think this is okay. We're coming for you."

࣪𑁍˖՚༹⌒ Domestic chores with Nct 127 ⌒ ༹՚˖𑁍 ࣪

ᨳ☆‧˚Taeil
Taeil always feels kinda discouraged to start doing the chores, and he drags you along on procrastinating with him
"Come here, Y/N, stay with me a little bit more! Let's cuddle five more minutes, okay?". You agree, ofc, and you stay on the bed for a little too long, talking about the zillion things you have to do, but not having the guts to leave each other's arms.
When you start cleaning the house though, he really gets into it. No dirty spots and no dusty surfaces escape his strong hands.
He plays the most random songs, from classic music to heavy EDM, and you vibe together while doing the chores, bouncing with your brooms in hands and spinning your stained cloths in the air.
In the kitchen, he always gladly cooks for you. But after a long tiring day doing domestic chores, you both agree on ordering some food, spending the night just chilling, watching a movie in the middle of which Taeil probably will fall asleep.
ᨳ☆‧˚Johnny
Johnny is the one who organizes the chores at home. He assigns what each one needs to do, and there you go, his high energy overflowing from his body, encouraging you and providing you the ignition you needed.
"I clean up here, you clean down there" - he says with a suspicious smirk. You don't know if he is making fun of you or if he is being considerate.
He needs his coffee pauses, and he makes you take a break too. You talk about the most random daily things, which always leads to precious bonding moments, the kitchen getting filled with laidback laughs.
Then you continue your activities, in your own pace, jamming to some soft background music.
Johnny likes to offer you rewards. "If we finish this today, I'll buy us some nice ice cream, and then I'll take you to the movies. Deal?"
ᨳ☆‧˚Taeyong
Taeyong has the most endearing way of convincing you that it's time to do some domestic chores. "Y/N, come hereeee! It's time for a couple activity!! I even got us matching rubber gloves, look!"
He doesn't let you do heavy tough stuff though. But when you see him struggling by himself and run to help him, he gives you the most precious smile, full of admiration and gratitude. A cute "Thank yoou!" (yes, in his cute english <3) leaves his mouth.
But there's one thing about doing chores with him that is a bit trick: he loves to rearrange the furniture and decoration. It's always extra tiring, but you have to give him the credit for your house being so cool and stylish.
Taking care of your pets is something that consumes a lot of time, but Taeyong does everything with happiness and sparkly eyes.
He makes sure you have some breaks, to keep hydrated and to eat something. He will prepare you some sandwiches, while you start to plan a little trip to the grocery shop.
ᨳ☆‧˚Yuta
Yuta and you have this synchronicity and telepathy. You think "I guess it's time to sweep the front yard". You get your broom and everything, and when you step out the house, Yuta is already there, cleaning everything.
"Oh, you had the same idea! Well, you can...", he says. "Oh, I guess I will...", you start. "....do the laundry.", you two say at the same time, smiling at each other.
He tries to do things in "Marie Kondo style". He takes a long time folding your clothes, but it's worth the effort. Your wardrobe is a beautiful piece of art.
If he thinks something is dangerous for you, he definetely won't let you do it. Changing the lamp? No no no! It's not that he thinks you're not capable of doing things, he knows you can do anything. He just can't live with the possibility of you getting hurt.
After a day of hard work, you take a warm bath together, and stay in bed for the rest of the night.
ᨳ☆‧˚Doyoung
Like Johnny, Doyoung assigns the chores. He knows the things each one of you is good at.
But he is the type of person that sees you doing something, and automatically says "Wait baby, let me do it for you", or starts helping you, out of habit.
For example: you're doing the dishes, you wash part of the things in the sink, and then you start to rinse them. Doyoung takes the opportunity to sneakily snatch the dish sponge and, it's too late, he won't give it back to you. "Don't get used to it though", he says with a little grin. You grin back, because you lost count of how many times you've heard this same sentence.
You have a lot of plants at home, and Doyoung treats them like real babies. He even bought one for you, a baby tree of your favorite fruit.
Cooking is his thing, so he makes sure you have a nice, delicious and nutricious meal everyday.
ᨳ☆‧˚Jaehyun
Jaehyun will gladly do anything you ask him to do with the best of intentions, and he does his best to help.
He looks at the weather forecast to see when it's a good day to do the laundry, he sorts the garbage for recycling, he researches the supermarkets with the best prices, and does other little things that seem unimportant, but that are truly essential.
He likes vaccuing very dirty places. The satisfaction he gets from seeing the clean path that the vaccum leaves among the dirty is priceless.
But he is clumsy, so you know you can't let him get near the fragile stuff. So the kitchen is a little bit dangerous for him
If he can't help you with something, he makes sure to support you, like a real cheerleader. "Oh yessss honey! You're doing great, wow! That's my baby!!", he says, already massaging your shoulders.
ᨳ☆‧˚Winwin
Winwin sees you getting ready to start cleaning, and he asks you what he can do to help, while wearing your spare cute apron, which makes you smile like a fool.
He follows you and do what you do, ocasionally asking you if the things he is doing are good enough.
He is extra careful when hanging the clothes out on the clothesline, making sure to spread them well to avoid any wrinkles. He knows none of you like ironing, and also you burned yourself once, and he doesn't want this to happen ever again.
He spends a considerable amount of time making your bed, changing the bed linen, tyding up the sheets and smoothing the pillows, so you can feel good in a clean space and relax with him after working hard all day long.
ᨳ☆‧˚Jungwoo
Jungwoo is very good at domestic chores. He is a tidy and organized person, so things go smoothly in your house
He has the ability of turning every boring task into a pleasant and funny experience. Out of sudden you're having a broomstick battle. Out of sudden you're blowing soap bubbles. Out of sudden you're with white flour blots all over your face, after a spontaneous flour smudge battle.
For your surprise, he is excelent on fixing things. His creativity helps him a lot, along with a couple of YouTube videos and a degree on engineering.
Times just flies by his side, and you get surprised when you see the sun going down by your window, as he streches his back and says "we're finally done!", pulling you for a little celebration dance.
Jungwoo doesn't want to cook after doing domestic chores all day long. He orders an amount of food that could feed well ten people, and you eat a lot while watching some nice series.
ᨳ☆‧˚Mark
Mark always tries his best at everything. He knows he is a little bit clumsy, so he does things carefully. Thank God he has spider senses.
A chore that is supposed to be finished in ten minutes takes thirty to be completed, but it's completely fine, because you know it will be perfectly done.
He used to get confused with all the types of cleaning products, but he eventually learned about them all and now he knows anything's purpose just by smeling it. "Mmmm very soft floral smell, must be clothes soap/ Very strong and citric, I guess this is disinfectant" (pls people, don't be like this, it's dangerous for everyone!!!)
At the end of the day, he is so satisfied looking at your team work. You can see it on his little proud smile, while he runs an arm over your shoulders and distractedly kisses your cheek.
ᨳ☆‧˚Haechan
Haechan whines for two minutes before starting doing chores, but he is a man of action after all. "The sooner we start it, the sooner we'll finish it", he says to himself.
You play rock paper scissors to decide who will be the one that will do the unpleasant chores, like cleaning the bathroom and taking the garbage out.
But hearing your heavy sigh after losing for him makes him go "ahh ok, I'll do it, don't worry, but it will cost you twenty kisses!"
He doesn't stop singing while doing the chores. He is like a walking karaoke machine,he knows every song you ask him to sing.
When he cooks for you, you often catch him talking to his mom on the phone, asking her about that dish you liked so much the last time you visited her.

General Thoughts on the rest of Berry in the Big City Season Two
Netflix put the entirety of season two up today (I figured they would, but since not even half the season has gone up on the youtube channel, there was the chance that they would hold off on the whole thing), and I managed to watch all the episodes that haven't gone up yet, despite having my long day at work. Overall, I enjoyed it! There were some things I suspected would happen, and some I definitely didn't. And of course, we got some good songs along the way (so seriously, where's that official soundtrack?).
Individual episode thoughts under the cut:
Scaryoke - Like last year, this year's Fright Fall episode is also a song episode, courtesy of Huck. While the song isn't nearly as catchy as last year's song, it does get points for including Bread Pudding this time (he even does a small duet with Huck). And I love everyone's costumes!
Save the Pumpkins - I feel like someone should have mentioned that the pumpkins they had were already picked and thus probably had no preference over being carved or not at that point, but I'll admit, I did like the message (just because something is tradition doesn't mean you have to do it if it makes someone uncomfortable) and the punchline at the end.
Traffic Jam - aka the Money Blueberry/Huck ep. Since I already saw the majority of this one from that preview clip, I don't have too many thoughts on it. It plays out about how you think it will, but Blueberry and Huck's interactions are fun.
Berry Bounty Bolt - the return of the families, and this time Lime's other dad, Dr. Pops, gets actual dialogue. There's a lot of fun dialogue and interactions in this one, and an outcome I did not see coming at all.
Snow-Aisis - Another fun one, but not one that I really have anything to say about.
Mission Unfrostable - The holiday heist from the trailer! As one might assume from that description, this was a lot of fun, with some especially good animation and lots of good expressions. I particularly like Blueberry's SSC ice creams and how petulant the Pieman got when his ruse was found out.
The Magic's In You - Another song ep, but we also get some lore about the Winterswirl holiday, whose Santa analog is Cinnamon Swirl (and thus probably the girl from the concept art on WildBrain's productions page) with Berrykins instead of elves. Which means, once the winter special comes out next year, there will have been Berrykins in all four versions of SSC.
Best New Year's EVER - Out of all the characters who could have returned in this show, Sherry Bobbleberry is not one I would have expected. Granted, in this version she's a pop star with a fairy motif, not an actual fairy, but still. The actual episode is just okay, getting points for the other girls being all "Go, live your dream, we're happy for you" and for some Strawberry/Raspberry bonding time.
All in the Palm - Another just okay one.
Granola Crunch - the titular character is voiced by another BBA alum, Shannon Chan Kent. We learn a little bit more about Aunt Praline's job, and there's a good message. It's an enjoyable watch, but not one that needs a lot of commentary.
Strawberry Nightmare - I suspect that the "advice" the Pieman gives Strawberry is what happened to him in the past, leading to his cutthroat nature in the present. The dream business was predictable, but Strawberry does wear ruthless very well.
LemonLime Back in Time - This episode is the best of this batch, as it's not only incredibly fun, but it also answers a question most of us have had since the beginning of the show, namely Why do Lemon Meringue and Lime Chiffon share a cart when they don't seem to have anything in common? I loved all the 80s fashions, and Lemon and Lime's more extreme counterparts. The only thing that would have made this ep better was an 80s Bread Pudding in the background.
The Case of the Missing Spoon - Good on Strawberry for never doubting her friends. A lesser episode (or maybe just a longer one) would have had some seeds of doubt, but she never waivered on who was the actual culprit, just the how. Also, Captain Cackle is canon to BitBC! Even though he wasn't called by that name, and the ending implied he's going to be Sour Grapes' pet, it still counts.
Strawberry Bake Fail - While I've never tried to make my own macarons, I understand they're really hard to get right, so I feel Strawberry's pain. Best joke of the episode, an image of Huck appearing when Strawberry mentions, in the context of making cakes, density.
Berry Competitive - the Orange/Lemon episode I didn't know I needed, plus Plum Pudding returned! Not sure we needed to see Lime Tart and Lemon Tort again, but they served their purpose. And Strawberry being roped into giving Lemon Meringue's invention validity was amusing, too.
Music in Our Hearts - Most a song ep, but the intro shows a side of Huck we don't usually get to see.
Parking Problems - I've stated before that I'm not crazy about eps with one joke that it follows for the whole run time, and that is still the case here, as Strawberry struggles to find the perfect place to park her food truck at the Poachella festival. The addition of Lime Tart and Lemon Tort helps elevate it, but that's about it.
Find Your Voice - I was right about that singer in the trailer being Cherry Jam! But there are some other returning characters in the band: Peppermint Fizz and Raisin Cane! Who would have guessed?
Fashion Forward - I've been waiting for an episode of Bread Pudding and Lime Chiffon hanging out, and this one did not disappoint, though it was mostly a Bread Pudding ep. But I love when my boy is a huge dork, and this episode fulfills that to a tee. We also get another returning character, Crepes Suzette, who, like her 2003 counterpart, is a fashion designer, though here she's only aspiring.
Slumber Party - Everyone in pajamas! Raspberry being part of the friend group again! A BitBC version of Pride and Prejudice! (Pride and Pomegranates?) Suffice to say, I enjoyed this one.
Legend of the Crystal Cupcake - Slightly misleading title, as that makes you think they're specifically seeking it out, when they find it by accident at the end. I like that this ep shows the Purple Pieman is still a legitimate threat, but after that it's just all right.
Sweet and Sour Grapes - Ever since the first episode, I knew that eventually there was going to be an episode that addressed Raspberry getting added to the main friends group but not Sour Grapes, and while it took most of the season to get there, it was worth it. I liked that the misunderstanding between Sour Grapes, Raspberry Tart, and Bread Pudding was a subtle and understandable one (she felt pushed out by them joining the main friends group, they thought she didn't have time for them because of working for her uncle). And Lemon being the one to relate to Sour Grapes felt very satisfying. A solid ep.
Peculiar Purple Partner, Parts 1 & 2 - The climax of season two's story arc. The Purple Pieman gets a jazzy villain song to seduce Strawberry into joining him, all as a ruse to claim her foodtruck as his own by firing her for flimsy, but contract-bound, reasons. And just like Strawberry, I did not see that coming. I knew he had something up his sleeve, obviously, just not that particular plan. Strawberry's friends rallying around her in the aftermath was super touching, but none more so than Bread doing a meaningful echo of his first words to her back in episode one of season one. As soon as Lemon said she puts mics in everything, I knew that's how the Pieman would get his comeuppance, and while he may not be part of the Berryworks any more, time will tell if he'll be around to cause trouble in season three.
Let's Go to the Movies - While I know it's for the sake of the episode, I kind of have to wonder why so many people got to the movie so early. Episodes about the little annoyances in places like this aren't my thing either, so I'm just glad that the movie itself was good.
Let the Good Times Roll - I 100% appreciate the roller rink being called Starfruit Express, which is no doubt a nod to the musical Starlight Express (where the cast perform on roller skates to portray anthropomorphic trains). As the season ender, I liked that we got to see most of the characters we met over the season, and the song itself was pretty good, too.
Well, it took way longer to write all this up than I expected, so I'm going to close it there.

Girls and gays we're back at it
Fuck gmmtv, you cannot open the episode with wen and alan being cute knowing how i have complicated feelings towards alan
💔💔💔💔💔💔 i am a wenalan or is it alanwen truther
First anniversary 😭😭😭
I need first and mix to do a series together pls
My heart genuinely hurts for them, how did it go so wrong
Okay but is it really just about wen losing feelings or is there something more?
It's the jogging that did it? Honestly? Same..
🥲 give me some heart and li ming, i'm too sad
oh, i forgot the end of the last ep 💀💀💀, so we're now back in the present :):):):):):):)
Noo wen, you can't let alan dress the wound. See... i don't like how wen's giving alan hope (ik i sound horrible but i'm working through it) and then wondering why alan can't move on. You don't want him but you're also not letting him go.
jim said - let's talk later and wen said - later is now, pick up bitch
If he hangs up i will scream
Ok he didn't hang up but he did ignore. That's very relatable of you, chicken elder.
Gaipa🥰
Gay nephew clocked gay uncle at the market
IT. IS. NOT. FOR. YOU.!!!!!!
Is wen also adopting heart?
Heart's so cute i'm going to cry blood
I don't know about you, but taking a selfie mid conversation is kind of extremely awkward.
Their first picture together 😭😭😭
Not jim stealing a pen. Fully support alan on asking for it back. I lent a classmate my good pencil during technical graphics (all of my pencils were the good kind bc i hated the subject and thought the pencils would help me) and he never gave it back. That was 7 years ago.
wen witnessing jim hang up on him is cinematic peak
Now he's angy :<
Earth has amazing eyebrows
Jim's being a little bitch ( i fully get that he was very hurt in the past so he's somewhat justified in building his walls back up but c'monnnnnnn just be happy)
it's disastrous for wen right now
Wen u dumb bitch let alan go
First is so babygirl
Li ming is a liar
Stop flirting on the bridge
Where did the audio go..? What's happening to my computer. I'm restarting it. Ok so the sound on the computer is fine, it's youtube then. Restarting worked.
Ok so heart broke every bone just now.
not li ming acting like heart died.
madness.
he's deaf, not dead. He can ride a scooter (i refuse to call it a motorcycle)
Jim, mind ur own business
Fuck everyone except li ming, heart, gaipa, gaipa's mom, praew, leng and alan's on thin fucking ice, but everyone else can get fucked at the moment
The way she has to rely on someone else to understand what her own son is saying is truly rotten.
The notes💀
Wen's moving in i guess
Jim folded really quickly.
Thoughts - this episode felt 5 hours long and i have to go to sleep now because work :):):)

Into The Blue Wall (Post. 5)
Most "Mandela Effects" are just simple misunderstandings like Fruit Loops, Kit-Kat or Curious George having a tail. Others are more big like Sinbad's Shazam. But today in this episode of Interweb Mysteries, I'll talk about this one post in Reddit of which as far as I know no other big YouTube channel has covered. This is the case of THE MARMINS.
It all originated in the subreddit r/TipOfMyTongue. In February 3rd 2015 a post was created with the title "[TOMT][TV SHOW][1990's] my sister remembers a TV show with white hippos".
OP was a british man in his 30's; his previous posts were in local London subreddits, repair related subreddits and r/Memes. The post said the following:
"MY SISTER SAYS SHE WATCHED THIS T.V. SHOW WHEN SHE WAS 8 OR 9 (EARLY 90S) BUT SO FAR WE HAVEN'T FOUND IT. She recalls it had white hippos as the main characters but also other animals. They all lived in some rural area and had adventures. However she also remembers being scared of some episodes as they had horrible creatures. I think it's possibly european, but not sure. Hope someone else knows what the bloody hell she is talking about."
Comments naturally came, it seemed like people all remembered the show but they weren't able to pinpoint exact details other than disturbing or vague memories.
"one of the most creepy episodes was this one with a big purple-black brown. the music and shading was super eerie"
"I remember distinctly there was this super creepy magician guy in a plain body suit, I hated every bit of him"
"the episode about this goblin that came from a hat gave me nightmares" "THE ONE WITH THE WEIRD ICE LADY!!!! I THINK I SAW THE SILHOUETTE OF A BODY INSIDE HER AND THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS TRAPPED IN THERE AND IT GAVE ME SO MANY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS THINKING ABOUT IT"
To this point people were a bit skeptic as all of this looked like a creepypasta or an ARG. But then a woman with the online name of "Ms. Floret Blossom" gave an actual helpful comment:
"I think it was adventures in... Something, fuming valley?"
Shortly after other names came up: Marmin, Muffled, Mow, Meén, Mormon and Mårsmin. People from Hawaii to Japan, from Argentina to Finland; but strangely no american users shared any experiences.
A subreddit got created: r/TheMarmins, the discussion of the topic really went nowhere for years and maybe this is why the topic didn't reach big YouTube mystery channels like Whang!, Rexpo or Highly Sociable.
However recently something got discovered...
Japanese user アスター魔女 shared an image they had found in an abandoned japanese stock image blog. The image depicted a comic strip in full colour. Three characters having a conversation in english and a transliteration of the speech in katakana, under the panels the translation in japanese. The title was "hey so, I found an image with possibly the white hippo we're looking for."
All the people were so amazed as the characters were the ones they all have been talking about for years. However, no one remembered the third brown rat character, so some people thought it couldn't be the source.
The current theory is that The Marmins were originally japanese books for teaching children English and someone made an anime adaptation of these. People don't remember the show to be educative so probably the whole English learning thing got dropped. Another detail is that none of the characters' names are mentioned.
Will The Marmins ever be found? This is mystery 1 of this video. The second one has to do with a strange server in the social media Bonfire...
from YouTube video "Interweb Mysteries | Part 23." from the channel "Jack-Max Detective".
