SPECIAL EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW! NGT48 4TH GENERATION KENKYUUSEI

We interviewed all 13 4th generation kenkyuuseis of NGT48, who are all scheduled to perform for the first time on January 10, and conducted an original 10-question survey. Also, everyone is doing the 4th generation pose! Let's get to know them better! Which one is your oshi?

Ⓠ What kind of person people say you are? Isozaki Nana: "I'm often told that I'm the kind of person who hates to lose, and that I'm stoic." Matsuzaka Saho: "I'm often told that I'm easy to talk to, and that I'm friendly!"

Ⓠ What is your number 1 charming point? Nana: "I'm a fanatic of 48G, so my charming point is that I can talk about 48G all day with anyone!" Saho: "The three moles on my face. They're unique, so I hope you remember them!"

Ⓠ What makes you happy, and what makes you sad? Nana: "I'm happy when receiving compliments! I get sad when someone does something to me that I do not like." Saho: "I'm happy when I receive a lot of compliments! I don't mind being called 'tall' but it makes me sad when I'm called 'big'"

Ⓠ Who is your favorite female idol? Nana: "I love Oshima Yuko-san even though she is no longer an idol. She will always be my idol!" Saho: "Nogizaka46's Yamashita Mizuki-san and AKB48's Kubo Hinano-san, both of whom inspired me to become an idol. I fell in love with them at first sight because they were so cute."

Ⓠ Favorite artists/songs? Nana: "I often sing Aimyon-san's 'Marigold' in karaoke!" Saho: "I like SILENT SIREN-san. I like everything from them, from cute songs to sad songs."

Ⓠ Most embarrassing story of your life? Nana: "I forgot to put my cell phone on 'silent mode' one time, and my ringtone echoed loudly in my classroom." Saho: "The first time I played in a golf tournament, I was so nervous that my first shot flew backwards. I am still embarrassed whenever I remember it."

Ⓠ Anything you are into lately? Nana: "Muscle training!" Saho: "Singing. Since I started living alone, I often find myself singing because I feel quiet and lonely."

Ⓠ Is there anything that you absolutely cannot lose to anyone when comes to it? Nana: "My passionate love for 48G!" Saho: "I like to sleep a lot. I like to sleep so much that I once slept for up to 21 hours straight."

Ⓠ What are your goals/dreams in NGT48? Nana: "My goal is to grow as an idol everyday. My dream is to make NGT48 the best group ever! I am still searching for my future dream!" Saho: "My goal is to be chosen as a member of the senbatsu someday. My dream is to be featured in a fashion magazine."

Ⓠ What is your message to the readers? Nana: "I am still a "zero" as an idol, but I will do my best! Please support me!" Saho: "There are many areas where I am still inexperienced, but I would be happy if you all could see my growth and development. I will do my best to be your number one!"

Ⓠ What kind of person people say you are? Nishikawa Haruna: "I am a serious, pacifist, and quite the outgoing person. My friends often say to me, 'That's weird,' or 'That's natural.'" Okumura Momoka: "I'm a very curious person. I wonder if it's fun to be with me? But people around me say that I'm loud and cheerful."

Ⓠ What is your number 1 charming point? Haruna: "I think I am very approachable! I am not shy, so I would like to be friends with everyone who supports me!" Momoka: "Being bright and energetic! I would make a great MC! I hope I can bring energy to everyone."

Ⓠ What makes you happy, and what makes you sad? Haruna: "I'm happy when I'm served food! I get angry when my food is taken!" Momoka: "'I'm from Kansai, so I'm happy when people say I'm funny! I will not tolerate bad comments about my family, even if it's about me! Us women from Banshu (old name of Hyogo) can be scary if you make us angry."

Ⓠ Who is your favorite female idol? Haruna: "Kojima Karin-san and Ishida Yumi-san of NMB48. They are the people I respect and admire from the bottom of my heart, and they made me realize that I shouldn't give up on being an idol." Momoka: "Kairi Sato-san of NGT48. Kairi-san is really energetic and makes me smile just by looking at her! Also, she has a really cute face. ♡"

Ⓠ Favorite artists/songs? Haruna: "'Sasanqua' by SEKAI NO OWARI-san. I listened to this song during difficult times, crying a lot and always made me look forward to the future." Momoka: "'My Heart Will Go On'. I have a strong love for Titanic. I sang it at a school festival in high school and I went out of tune."

Ⓠ Most embarrassing story of your life? Haruna: "I sent a picture of a tuna cutting performance to the Line group chat of my part-time job by accident." Momoka: "When I was a new employee at a past job, I referred to myself as "Okuruma Momoka" when I was introducing myself and repeated the same thing three times when I tried to rephrase it."

Ⓠ Anything you are into lately? Haruna: "I recently got into cooking. I'm glad whenever Momoka-chan says that my cooking is delicious. ☆" Momoka: "I am playing the 'Bean Championship' game by myself. I've been eating a lot of beans because I'm curious to see which one comes out on top among all the different kinds of beans. At the moment, it is edamame (green soybeans)."

Ⓠ Is there anything that you absolutely cannot lose to anyone when comes to it? Haruna: "Effort. As my motto says 'Effort over anything, and results over oneself'. I don't want to lose to anyone when it comes to effort!" Momoka: "Loud voice. Loud voices might may be usual, but in my case, I can make my voice as loud as the sirens at a highschool baseball game. My voice is usually quiet, so I will improve it."

Ⓠ What are your goals/dreams in NGT48? Haruna: "My dream as a member of NGT48 is to become someone who can promote the group by performing on stage, in musicals, dramas and movies." Momoka: "I hope that in the future, NGT48 will appear in every TV Show that people tune into. I love to talk, so I would like to appear in variety shows."

Ⓠ What is your message to the readers? Haruna: "Nice to meet you! My name is Nishikawa Haruka and I am from Osaka. I will never forget my initial resolution that struggling with what you love is a happy thing, and I will keep on trying!!" Momoka: "Everyone, if you are reading this, will you be interested in me? I want to make my dream come true together will you all, so that I can become the ultimate idol."

Ⓠ What kind of person people say you are? Kimoto Anna: "I have a tendency to be shy. But as we get to know each other better, I am often told that I am too loud, because I am more likely to put myself out there and interact with others." Sekinoyama Nagi: "I may look cool, but when I talk to people, they tend to find me interesting. I like to talk, so I tend to get excited (LOL)." Sato Hiroka: "For better or worse, I have a naive nature and people around me often say I think too much!"

Ⓠ What is your number 1 charming point? Anna: "My smile. It is often said that when I smile, my eyes disappear, so my smile is my number 1 charming point." Nagi: "There are many things about me, but not only am I cute, I'm also a cool-looking 18-year-old full of energy!" Hiroka: "I can wink with my right eye or my left eye! I'll immediately appeal to you the moment you make eye contact with me!"

Ⓠ What makes you happy, and what makes you sad?Anna: "I'll be happy if you make me your oshi! But, if you have your eyes on someone else, I'll keep on fishing..." Nagi: "I'm happy when someone does something for me! On the other hand, I have a pet peeve for last-minute cancellations." Hiroka: "I am simply most happy when people celebrate my birthday! I am always get sad when there is a sudden evening rain shower."

Ⓠ Who is your favorite female idol? Anna: "I like NGT48 3rd generation's Suizu Natsuki-san. I like that she has a fluffy atmosphere and that she's skillful at talking. " Nagi: "Miyawaki Sakura-san. Her way of life as an idol who keeps challenging herself is so cool! I think she is the ideal image of an idol." Hiroka: "NGT48's Kawagoe Saaya-san, Homma Hinata-san, Ogoe Haruka-san, and also =LOVE's Sasaki Maika-san!"

Ⓠ Favorite artists/songs? Anna: "back number-san's 'Summer Wonderland'. The summer! I was repeating this song all summer this year." Nagi: "I love a Korean idol group called LESSERAFIM! I want to go to their concert someday." Hiroka: "I have been listening to a song called 'Phantom thief' by back number-san, which my friend used to hum."

Ⓠ Most embarrassing story of your life? Anna: "I was in charge of playing a glockenspiel at a nursery school, but when it was time for me to perform with the instrument, I just randomly played it because I didn't know which notes I was supposed to play." Nagi: "When I clung to my grandfather's leg and it turned out to be a completely different person. I still remember it even though it was when I was very young." Hiroka: "I can't decide on one, there's too many! The times where I slipped on a snowy road and proceeded to scatter my luggage and the times where I had a smug face on while paying with my phone but the payment didn't through were both equally embarrassing."

Ⓠ Anything you are into lately? Anna: "I like to sing alone. I used to go with friends or my sister, but lately I've been into singing to my heart's content alone." Nagi: "I am rekindling my interest in 3DS for the first time since elementary school. I communicate with it to my friends and play together. It makes me feel nostalgic and above all, it's fun!" Hiroka: "Playing games while watching anime! Sometimes I don't know which one to concentrate on. I love both!"

Ⓠ Is there anything that you absolutely cannot lose to anyone when comes to it? Anna: "Singing. It may be a bit of an exaggeration to say, but I like to sing and I think I am good at it." Nagi: "My positive spirit is second to none! I still have a long way to go in terms of dancing and singing, but I believe there is a lot of room for improvement, so I will do my best!" Hiroka: "I play games all day long and put 9 cubes of sugar in a cup of milk tea!"

Ⓠ What are your goals/dreams in NGT48? Anna: "I want to catch up with my senpais as quickly as possible and be a part of the excitement of NGT48." Nagi: "I would like to work not only as an idol but also in acting. I want to be a heroine!" Hiroka: "I am trying to catch up with my senpais as fast as possible and give my best performance with my fellow 4th generation members while expressing my gratitude to my family and people around me!"

Ⓠ What is your message to the readers? Anna: "I will do my best from now on, so please support me!" Nagi: "I want you to get to know me and like me a lot! Let me be your heroine!" Hiroka: "Thank you for reading! I hope you like me even more now, so please keep an eye on me!"

Ⓠ What kind of person people say you are? Yoshihara Merii: "I'm often called azatoii (cutesy). I don't really calculate what I'm doing, but they say I'm kind of an azatoii girl (LOL)." Aso Juna: "I'm a my-pace person! People around me think I have a silly personality, like I'm a little sister or something, but when I do something right, I take it very seriously-ish? (LOL)."

Ⓠ What is your number 1 charming point? Merii: "Face and style! I have what is often called a "hour-glass" figure! (LOL) My dream is to be on the cover of BOMB-san's gravure magazine someday!" Juna: "I have the shortest height."

Ⓠ What makes you happy, and what makes you sad? Merii: "My personality is such that I don't like being the best at anything, so it makes me happy whenever I'm told that I'm the cutest! I'm also happy to be someone's tan-oshi (only oshi) ♡." Juna: "I'm much of a loner, so it makes me happy if you keep me company!! If I'm left alone I get sad."

Ⓠ Who is your favorite female idol? Merii: "Nakai Rika-san! She is the person who inspired me to become an idol, and even now, I am still searching for her past videos to learn how to send a reply online." Juna: "NGT48's Fujisaku Miyu-san. I like that there's a gap between her everyday life and on stage. Her face and style are also my ideals."

Ⓠ Favorite artists/songs? Merii: "Ariana Grande-san. I speak three languages, so I often listen to her when I am studying, to get me pumped up." Juna: "The part in Chanmina-san's song called 'Bijin' where she says 'As my mind grew insane back then, my talent blossomed'. I love the strong lyrics about looking back at the people who have been making fun of you."

Ⓠ Most embarrassing story of your life? Merii: "I forgot my school bag many times during elementary school. I didn't have many friends, so no one told me…" Juna: "I was once having a picnic in a park when a crow was bothering me and the little children laughed at me."

Ⓠ Anything you are into lately? Merii: "I cook a lot because I live alone and have to cook for myself! I am confident in the taste of my food and I want my fans to enjoy it." Juna: "I collect bath bombs with dolls of various characters inside and play in the bubbling bath."

Ⓠ Is there anything that you absolutely cannot lose to anyone when comes to it? Merii: "I will never lose to anyone in making my fans melt in love with me, and I don't want to lose to any of the senpai members! I want to be called the strongest fisherwoman in NGT. ♡" Juna: "I can talk all the time. I can also sleep all the time."

Ⓠ What are your goals/dreams in NGT48? Merii: "I want to be the best fisherwoman in NGT! I also want to be the face of the group so that people will think that NGT is all about Merii!" Juna: "I will do my best everyday that people will think 'Oh! The 4th generations are different from the others.'"

Ⓠ What is your message to the readers? Merii: "I can't wait to meet my fans in person and catch a big fish! I can't wait to meet you! Please come to see me! I'll be waiting for you in Niigata! ♡" Juna: "Thank you for discovering me. I will give you all lots and lots of happiness from now on! Thank you very much."

Ⓠ What kind of person people say you are? Takashima Yua: "When I decide to do something, I have the guts to finish it! People around me say that I am very serious." Shinzawa Aoi: "I'm calm, my-pace, kind and gentle."

Ⓠ What is your number 1 charming point? Yua: "The fresh look that only a youngster can have!" Aoi: "I'm a natural airhead."

Ⓠ What makes you happy, and what makes you sad? Yua: "I'm happy when I'm served. I get angry when someone eats a food with my name on it." Aoi: "I am happy when a member hugs me! I get angry if you annoy me!"

Ⓠ Who is your favorite female idol? Yua: "This is Otsuka Nanami-san from NGT48! I love her because she is cute, funny and cool!" Aoi: "NGT48 members Homma Hinata-san, Ogoe Haruka-san, and Arai Ririno-san."

Ⓠ Favorite artists/songs? Yua: "I love Bebe Rexha-san's 'Girl in the mirror', I also love Aimyon-san!" Aoi: "Imada Mio-san and Shimizu Shota-san"

Ⓠ Most embarrassing story of your life? Yua: "I repeatedly have to put 10 yen coins in a payphone because it would keep disconnecting." Aoi: "I thought I was talking to my friend one time, it turned out to be a totally different person."

Ⓠ Anything you are into lately? Yua: "Studying Korean! I can't wait to become fluent and go on a location shoot in Korea." Aoi: "Putting on make-up."

Ⓠ Is there anything that you absolutely cannot lose to anyone when comes to it? Yua: "Studying! My report card was all 5!" Aoi: "Soft tennis, winter sports, and being the first to notice changes in people."

Ⓠ What are your goals/dreams in NGT48? Yua: "I want to be loved by people of all ages and eventually try my hand at acting!" Aoi: "I want to be someone who is loved by my fans."

Ⓠ What is your message to the readers? Yua: "I'm willing to try anything and look forward to seeing a new world. Thank you for your support!" Aoi: "I will do my best to let many people know about me!"

Ⓠ What kind of person people say you are? Otake Koma: "I am often associated with a cheerful and upbeat image, but in reality, I am extremely negative." Hara Ayumi: "I'm very cheerful. People around me call me a bossy gal (LOL). I'm not like that at all, do I?"

Ⓠ What is your number 1 charming point? Koma: "My very cute smile!" Ayumi: "My voice! People say it is comfortable and calming. From now on, I will make you all melt with my voice. ♡"

Ⓠ What makes you happy, and what makes you sad? Koma: "I'm happy when given food! I'm upset when hungry." Ayumi: "I am very happy when I receive compliments! I am especially happy when someone says I am cute. I get sad when people get mad at me…."

Ⓠ Who is your favorite female idol? Koma: "Otsuka Nanami-san of NGT48! She's a wonderful person on and off the camera." Ayumi: "Homma Hinata-san of NGT48. I admire and respect the way she works while utilizing her own special skills and strengths. Above all, she's a beautiful and cute girl. ♡"

Ⓠ Favorite artists/songs? Koma: "I love music, so I listen to all kinds of music regardless of genre." Ayumi: "Ariana Grande-san. I especially lover her song 'One Last Time'. It makes me want to do my best again!"

Ⓠ Most embarrassing story of your life? Koma: "On a rainy day, I slipped and fell while waiting for the train on the station stairs. I was more embarrassed than hurt." Ayumi: "I was behind in a first grade marathon when my friend asked me to run with him and passed me in the last spurt."

Ⓠ Anything you are into lately? Koma: "Eating cheesecake." Ayumi: "Strawberry-flavored Oikos. I used to dislike strawberry-flavored foods, but I have conquered this weakness and now enjoy eating them."

Ⓠ Is there anything that you absolutely cannot lose to anyone when comes to it? Koma: "My obsession with food is second to none." Ayumi: "I can do acrobatics. I am also an acrobat, and I am physically fit because I used to baton twirl."

Ⓠ What are your goals/dreams in NGT48? Koma: "I want to be a person full of charm that everyone wants to support." Ayumi: "I would like to tell many good things about Niigata, where I was born and raised. And I will do my best to be the face of NGT48!"

Ⓠ What is your message to the readers? Koma: "I'm Koma! I will heal you with my smile on the days when you are not feeling well. ♡" Ayumi: "I hope you will get to know and love me. なかよし・・・1990年代末まではりぼんと並ぶ名門で、メディアミックスでは紛れも無くNo.1だった雑誌。しかし1990年代に大ヒットした美少女戦士セーラームーンとカードキャプターさくらの影響が悪い方に作用し、編集部がオタクの嗜好と女児の嗜好を取り違えて、いつしか美少女戦士やら魔法少女ばっかり重視するようになり、それが描ける作家はCLAMPとか征海未亜とか外部作家やフリー作家を連れてきたりして優遇する代わりに、描けない作家は大ベテランのあさぎり夕であろうが高瀬綾であろうが川村美香であろうが引退を突き付けて『粛清』し、「アニメ」ではなく「少女漫画」を求めていた読者から見放されて自爆した雑誌。 現在では「美少女戦士・魔法少女＝アニメオリジナル・園児向けのプリキュア」（一応なかよしで連載しているけどね）という図式が定着した影響で少女漫画での魔法少女漫画の需要がなくなったせいで、遠山えまや鳥海ペドロらを『調教』してちゃおを"卒業"した子やその路線になじめない子狙いでコミックス売上狙いでエロ路線に走っている（とはいえ、エロのレベルは一時の少女コミック・Cheese！と比べりゃ微々たるもの）けれど、一部を除く女児には不評。ちゃおほどメディアミックスに熱心できる状況ではなく、りぼんほどコミックスが売れる作家が多いわけでもなく、コミックスのスペースもかつてのちゃおが味わった苦汁のごとく年々削減されて、セーラームーンとCCさくらの貯金を取り崩しながら破滅に近づいている状況。 りぼん・・・2000年代までは少女漫画売上No.1で、マーガレットの妹分。恋愛漫画も充実。メディアミックスはヒット作に全く恵まれずに消極的なおかげでなかよしと比べると少女漫画の品位は保たれているし、ちゃおよりも少女漫画らしい誌面。ただし1990年代から2000年代前半はメディアミックスではなかよしを追い抜こうとした時期があり、姫ちゃんのリボンをテレビ東京系でもいいからアニメ化したり、秋元康に頼んでナースエンジェルりりかSOSを立ち上げたり、赤ずきんチャチャを魔法少女モノに改変したり、どちらかと言うと原作は鬱要素が強いこどものおもちゃを子供向け路線に改変してアニメ化された影響で、誌面はタイアップバリバリだった。そのおかげで姫ちゃん～こどちゃがアニメ化されていた頃は低年齢層を掴んで1994年には少女漫画最高記録の255万部／月を達成するが、こどちゃ以降はアニメ化に恵まれず、新人を猛プッシュした種村有菜のアニメ化作品が神風怪盗ジャンヌ・満月をさがしてとともに不振だったり、Cookieの分離創刊を機に吉住渉、矢沢あい、小花美穂ら古参作家を放出させ、春田なな、酒井まゆ、槇ようこら絵柄重視で新人作家を猛プッシュしたりした影響でやっぱり古参読者が離れて部数が激減、一時は3誌で最下位になるものの、その後のなかよしの大自爆により2位に浮上。 現在では春田なな・槙ようこが看板格に育ち、雪丸もえのひよ恋がスマッシュヒットしたが、最盛期には遠く及ばず、また夢色パティシエールの大爆死以降はちびまる子ちゃんを除くメディアミックスも一切なく、中高生向け少女漫画と同じくコミックスで生き残りをかける格好。 ちゃお・・・1990年代中盤までは売上・人気面でボロボロで10万部台の頃もあり。起死回生を図るために1993年に（当時キャンディキャンディの版権問題で水木杏子・講談社と揉めていた）いがらしゆみこを招聘してムカムカパラダイスをアニメ化して以来、漫画よりもアニメとのタイアップを中心に捉えてきた。2000年代初頭まではタイアップ先（特にバンダイがメインスポンサーの女児アニメ）がちゃおを敬遠していたこともあり、ポケモン、少女漫画ウテナ、デ・ジ・キャラットにょ、電脳コイルといったオタク層や男性（男児）向けの作品が比較的多く、その漫画版が載っていた1997～2003年頃のちゃおはカオスな雰囲気を醸し出していた。しかし2002年のわがままフェアリーミルモでポン！のヒットで少女漫画売上No.1になるとオタク向け路線は徐々に一掃され、ChuChuの分離創刊（現在は廃刊）であらいきよこ・おおばやしみゆきらベテランが放出されるが、ミルモ・恋プリ・ちびデビ・ちいちゃんと児童向け路線で4作続けてヒットを出す篠塚ひろむと、男ショタキャラの魅力でちゃおを卒業した読者もコミックスに安定して取り込む八神千歳の存在は頼もしく、3誌の中で唯一世代交代に成功したといえる。2000年代後半からはアイドル物に力を注ぎ、きらりん☆レボリューションで中原杏を猛プッシュ。関連商品の売上は上がるが、デッサン力・画力は決して高いとはいえない彼女を起用したおかげで、高学年を中心に読者離れが起���て本誌の売上は下がる。 現在では売上は下落の一途だ��ど前述のアイドル路線を引き継いだアイカツ・プリパラと、妖怪ウォッチのタイアップで華はある印象。そのおかげでスーパーやコンビニ・書店では月末には真っ先に売り切れる。それらのタイアップ作品に流されやすい女児には堅調で、それに流されにくい女児は早々と逃げられ、女児の間で評価が分かれる（後者は早めに少女コミック・マーガレット・花とゆめなど中高生向け雑誌に移行することが多い）。あと女装ショタや性教育エロ路線では鉄板で、1991年の水色時代でのレギュラー化から現在のドーリィ♪カノンまで25年間もちゃお・学年誌に居座り続けているやぶうち優はいろいろな意味で化け物。 マーガレット・・・当たり前だが、りなちゃ3誌よりは少女漫画らしい雑誌。少女コミックス・花とゆめを含めた3大隔週誌の中では王道路線であり、アタックNo.1、ベルサイユのばら、エースをねらえ！、花より男子のヒットを築く。しかし、花より男子が終了した2000年代後半には部数が激減し、10万部を割り込む。近年はメイちゃんの執事がヒットするが、部数減に歯止めがかからず5万部台で推移、りぼん・なかよしと同じく主戦場は完全にコミックスに移行。

主人公の青年は、サンクトペテルブルクに引っ越してから8年、友人が一人もできず、夢想的で孤独な生活を送っていた。白夜のある晩、橋のたもとで、ある少女に出会い彼の日常は鮮やかになっていく。孤独だった 2 人は、互いに惹かれあい、会う度に気持ちは高まっていく。しかし、実は少女には婚約者がいた。夢のような淡い恋心が芽生え始めたころ、彼の想いは淡く散ってしまう。 青年は少女との出会いを心から喜び、感謝し、誠実に関わろうと努める。それでも少女は青年の前から去ってしまう。そのとき彼は何を思うのだろう。

「白夜」の主人公は、あまりにも人間らしい。

夢想家である彼は、考え込み、想像し、思い上がったと思えば、悲観し、皮肉り、絶望する。そして、今日という日を懸命に生きていくのだ。

この作品の中で、彼は沢山の感情を吐露する。それは、人の素晴らしさだけでなく、人の残酷さ、世の中の無情さによるものでもある。

私達も彼と同様、理不尽な出来事に苛まれる時がある。等身大の人間である彼と共に過ごすこの物語は、あなたの心にも重なることがあるのではないだろうか。

世界は変わっていくものであり、そこには失うことや捨てることへの不安よりも強い期待がそこかしこに溢れている。若々しい期待は、ほとんど場合、期待通りの結果にはならない。その世界の中で私達はどう生きれば良いのか。

世界の若者の多くが、これまでに心の病を経験していると言われる現代。だから私達は、この今の時代に「白夜」という作品を通し、「あなたが抱えるものはあなただけのものではない」ということを伝えたい。そんな自分を、他者を、そして世の中を赦せたのなら、あなたの世界はより一層健やかなものになるだろう。
