運動能力反射神経ともにメンバーの中ではずば抜けており、ベイビーレイズのメンバーと運動で争う企画では独壇場であった。

ベイビーレイズJAPAN結成以前はモデルまたはソロアーティスト志望であり、黒木メイサや安室奈美恵を目標としていた。このため結成当初はアイドル活動に全く乗り気では無く、自身のTwitterやブログなどで「元々アイドルというものが苦手でやりたくなかった。」とも語っていた。しかし、ベイビーレイズJAPANのメンバーとして活動していくにつれて「今は（アイドルが）好きです。ちゃんと言えます。」「前の自分に会ったら引っぱたきたいくらい全然違う世界だった。」と思うようになり、アイドルに対する考え方も変わっていったという。

ベイビーレイズ時代は「やるならとことん」を座右の銘としてことあるごとに明言しており、キャッチフレーズにもなり実際の行動規範ともしていた。

10代の間に体験しておきたいと、20歳の誕生日前に群馬県のみなかみバンジーでバンジージャンプを体験した。

ベイビーレイズ（JAPAN）時代はハーフと言うこともあり漢字が苦手キャラであったが、読書家であり実際はそれほど苦手ではない。自身の苗字の「傳」の字もバランスよく書きこなし、客観的には達筆の部類に入る。

『世界ふしぎ発見!』（TBS）の解答者として初めて出演した回を含め合計3度｛2019年5月時点｝もの全問正解のパーフェクト賞を獲得し、推理力・考察力に秀でた才女ぶりも披露している。

ロック音楽が好き。2017年1月に名古屋で共演してからSUPER BEAVERの大ファンとなり、1人でワンマンライブに参戦するほどである。女性シンガーでは阿部真央やあいみょんが好き で、ファンクラブイベントで彼女らの曲を歌唱披露したこともある。

読書好きであり、仕事の合間を縫って様々な本を読んでいる。哲学書や自己啓発本も好んで読む。小説も幅広く読むが、川村元気や住野よるの作品に造詣が深い。漫画はほとんど読まないが、ファッション関係の仕事に関心が強いこともあり、『ランウェイで笑って』は好きな作品であると表明している。

映画も非常に好きで、オフや仕事の空き時間を縫ってよく鑑賞する。幅広いジャンルを鑑賞するが、ドキュメンタリー物が好み。ファンイベントでは、おススメの映画として『グッド・ウィル・ハンティング/旅立ち』、『湯を沸かすほどの熱い愛』、『ワンダー 君は太陽』、『ルーム』、『君が生きた証』を挙げ、作品に対する熱い想いを大いに語った。

食パン：主食用パン

食パンの語源に関しては複数ありどれが正しいかわかりませんが、有力な説を2つ紹介します。1つは、「主食用パン」の略。パンが日本に入って来た当時はイースト菌などもなく、比較的小さな菓子パンだけが作られていました。それからパンが大きく膨らむようになり、米の代わりになり得るようになったため、「主食用」と名付けられました。もう1つは、消しパンではない「食べられるパン」の略。昔は美術のデッサンなどでパンを消しゴム代わりに使用していたためです。

ブログ：ウェブログ

ウェブサイトの一種で日記形式のもの。英単語でも”blog”がありますが、もともとは”Web”と記録を意味する”log”が合わさった言葉である”web log”の略です。

軍手：軍用手袋

元々軍隊用の手袋として使われていたためです。日露戦争の際に、寒冷地を戦場とする兵士に支給するために考案されたものです。その後、荷物運搬や土いじりなど日常生活で使われるようになりました。

演歌：演説歌

元々は自由民権運動の政治運動家(壮士)たちが演説の代わりに歌った壮士節が始まりとされます。1930年代にジャズやクラシックが大衆歌に組み込まれていき、歌詞も政治とは関係のない叙情詩的なものに変わっていきました。

教科書：教科用図書

主に小・中・高および特別支援学校などで学ぶ時に配布される中心的な教材のことで、「教科用図書」の略です。教科書と教材の違いは、文部科学大臣の検定に合格したものが教科書と呼ばれます。

チューハイ：焼酎ハイボール

焼酎とハイボールを組み合わせた「焼酎ハイボール」の略語。焼酎やウォッカなど無色で香りのない酒類をベースに、炭酸で割ったものを一般的に指しますが、炭酸ではなくウーロン茶で割ったウーロンハイもチューハイの一種です。

ジャガイモ：ジャガタライモ

ジャガイモはそもそも南米原産の食材であり、日本には16世紀末にインドネシアのジャカルタからオランダ人により伝えられました。そのため当時は「ジャガタライモ」と呼ばれていましたが、後に略されていきました。ちなみに日本では中国語由来の馬鈴薯とも呼ばれます。

ワイシャツ：ホワイトシャツ

主に男性が背広の下に着るシャツのことですが、元々は和製英語である「ホワイトシャツ」の略。よく「Yシャツ」と記載されることがありますが、これは完全に当て字です。一方で、「Tシャツ」はアルファベットのTの字に似ているためこう呼ばれるようになりました。

割勘：割前勘定

友人との飲み会などでよくある割勘は「割前勘定」の略。割前とは分割してそれぞれに割り当てることを意味する言葉です。江戸時代後期の戯作者で浮世絵師として有名な山東京伝が発案されたと言われており、当時は「京伝勘定」と言われていたそうです。ちなみに世界的に見ると割勘の文化は少数派で、男性や年上が払うのが一般的のようです。

カラオケ：空オーケストラ

歌のないオーケストラの意味で、「空(から)オーケストラ」から「カラオケ」と略されました。カラオケは日本で1960年後半に誕生したとされ、その後世界に広がっていきました。そのため英語でも”karaoke”と書きます。ちなみに中国語では「卡拉OK」と突然アルファベットが出てくる不思議です。

バス：オムニバス

ラテン語で「すべての人のために」という意味の「オムニバス」が語源で、フランスの乗合馬車の発着所の雑貨屋の看板に書かれていたことに由来します。そこから多くの人が利用する乗合自動車をオムニバスと呼ぶようになり、その後略されました。

リストラ：リストラクチャリング

英語で「再建」を意味する”restructuring”から略されたものです。リストラと聞くと人員削減をイメージしますが、本来の意味は事業構造を再構築することです。その中の一環として、人員削減が起こります。

リモコン：リモートコントロール

英語で「遠隔操作」を意味する”remote control”から略されたものです。TVなどに向かってリモコンから赤外線をデジタル信号で送ることでチャンネルや音量などを操作することができます。

ソフトクリーム：ソフト・サーブ・アイスクリーム

海外では「柔らかいクリーム？」となり伝わらない和製英語です。英語では” soft serve icecream”であり、ソフトクリームサーバーの製造などを行っている日世の創業者・田中穰治が日本でソフトクリームを広めるのにわかりやすくするために省略したとされています。

��ペロンチーノ：アーリオ・オーリオ・ペペロンチーノ

唐辛子をオリーブ油で炒めたパスタ料理。正式名称は「アーリオ・オーリオ・ペペロンチーノ」と言います。イタリア語で「アーリオ」は「ニンニク」、「オーリオ」は「オリーブオイル」、「ペペロンチーノ」は「唐辛子」を意味しています。

経済：経世済民

中国の晋朝について書かれた歴史書である『晋書』に書かれた「経世済民」を略した言葉です。現在の政治と同じような意味で昔から使われていました。明治以降、”economy”の訳語として頻繁に使われるようになったようです。

首相：首席宰相

首席はトップを意味し、宰相は辞書で調べると「古く中国で、天子を補佐して大政を総理する官。総理大臣。首相。」と載っています。首相の言葉の中に首相が含まれている二重表現のような言葉です。ただ「首相」は日本国憲法に記載された言葉ではなく、報道などで使われる内閣総理大臣の通称です。

切手：切符手形

お金を払って得た権利の証明となる紙片のことを古くから「切手」と呼んでいました。日本の近代郵便制度の創始者である前島密が、“郵便物に貼って支払済を表す印紙”に「切手」という言葉をそのまま当てたそうです。

出世：出世間

元々は仏教語で、仏陀が衆生を救うためにこの世に出現することを指す言葉で、「出＋世間」でした。そこから略され、日本では僧侶が高い位に上ることを意味するようになり、世間一般でも役職が上がることなどを指す言葉となりました。

断トツ：断然トップ

2位以下を大きく引き離すことを指す言葉ですが、元は「ずば抜けて」の意味を持つ「断然」と首位を表す英語の”top”が合わさった言葉の略。そのため「断トツの1位」という表現は二重表現になります。

押忍：おはようございます

朝の挨拶である「おはようございます」から「おっす」と短くなり、さらに「おす」へと略されました。そこから「自我を押さえて我慢する」という意味を込めて「押忍」という漢字が当てられました。

デマ：デマゴギー

大衆を扇動するための政治的な宣伝を意味するドイツ語の「デマゴギー」を略したものです。元の意味の通り、政治的な意味合いを持つ言葉でしたが、昭和になってから、単純に「嘘」や「根拠のない噂」の意味で使われるようになりました。

おなら：お鳴らし

屁を「鳴らす」の名詞である「鳴らし」に「お」をつけて婉曲に表現した言葉で、そこから一文字略されました。元々の言い方の方が上品な感じがあって良いですよね。というのも、一般庶民は昔から「屁」と言っていましたが、宮中に仕える女房たちは隠語として用いていたためです。

電車：電動客車

電動客車をより���かく表現すると、「電動機付き客車」または「電動機付き貨車」となります。電車は架線あるいは軌道から得る電気を動力源として走行しています。

電卓：電子式卓上計算機

計算機という本来役割を表す意味の言葉が略されています。1963年に世界初の電卓が登場し、1964年に現在のシャープから日本初の電卓が発売されました。当時の価格は53万5千円と車を買えるほどの値段でした。今では100均で売られているものもあるのに驚きですね。

ボールペン：ボールポイントペン

英語で”ball-point pen”と言い、これを略した言葉です。ボールという単語が使われている理由は、ボールペンの構造上、先端に小さな回転玉（ボール）があるためです。

インフラ：インフラストラクチャー

英語で「下部構造」や「基盤」を意味する”infrastructure”から略されたものです。電気・ガス・水道・電話・道路・線路・学校や病院などの公共施設など、私たちの生活に欠かせないものを指す言葉となっています。

シネコン：シネマコンプレックス

「コンプレックス”complex”」が「複合の」を表す英単語で、同一ビル内に複数のスクリーンを備えた複合型映画館のことを表します。国内の代表的なものとしては、TOHOシネマズ、イオンエンターテイメント、MOVIX、ユナイテッド・シネマなどがあります。

シャーペン：エバー・レディー・シャープペンシル

シャーペンが「シャープペンシル」の略ということを知っている方は多いと思いますが、実はこれも略語。1838年にアメリカで「エバーシャープ」という筆記具が登場し、その後1915年に現シャープの創設者である早川徳次氏が国内初となるものを考案し、「エバー・レディー・シャープペンシル」という商品名をつけヒットさせました。

ピアノ：クラヴィチェンバロ・コル・ピアノ・エ・フォルテ

イタリア語で「小さい音と大きい音を出せるチェンバロ」という意味です。いつの間にか「小さい音」を表すピアノだけに略され、楽器を表す名詞となりました。元のピアノの意味は今でも音の強弱を表す「メッゾピアノ」や「ピアニッシモ」と合わせて音楽記号として使われていますね。

KOFUN: DAISENRYO

Welcome to a new installment of Japanese culture and history, in this case we are going to talk about Daisen Kofun, also known as the tomb of Emperor Nintoku, which is located in Osaka-fu, in the city of Sakai, so make yourselves comfortable and let's get started.

First of all we have to explain what it is and what it means, what it was used for, among other questions.

What are its characteristics? 486 metres, 305 metres wide and 33 metres high, a total of 41 hectares rounded off. 今回は、大阪府堺市にある仁徳天皇陵として知られる大山古墳についてお話しします。

まず、古墳とは何なのか、どういう意味なのか、何に使われていたのか、などを説明しなければならない。

古墳という言葉は、漢字の古墳とふりがなのこふんからなり、直訳すると古墳だが、私は古墳と訳したい。 その大部分は皇室の管理下にあり、前述したのと同じ理由で、非常に例外的なことが起こらない限り発掘することはできない。帝政下にないものであれば別だが、いくつかあり、深く研究することが可能である。

これらの古墳のいくつかは慰霊碑である。つまり、誰も埋葬されておらず、たとえ遺体が見つからなくても、重要な人物を讃えたり偲んだりするために作られた墓である。

しかし、大山古墳は紀元3世紀のものである。最近の研究では、伝統的に言われて��たように、それが仁徳天皇のものであるかどうかが疑問視されている。 20世紀には、帝国主義やナショナリズムの問題から、天皇の姿を疑問視することはできなかったからである。 では、そこに埋葬されているのは誰なのか？おそらく、首長か酋長が埋葬されたのだろうが、はっきりしているのは、彼がその実現のために多くの人手を集めることができたので、重要な人物であるということだ。 邪馬台国と何か関係があるのだろうか？わからないが、可能性のある仮説として残しておく。

Antes que nada hay que explicar, ¿qué es? Y ¿Qué significa? ¿Para qué servían? Entre otras preguntas.

La, palabra Kofun, está compuesta por dos kanjis 古墳 y en furigana (こふん) que se traduce literalmente, como tumba antigua aunque me gusta más traducirlo como túmulo funerario, hay 160.000 en todo Japón, una gran inmensa mayoría está bajo control de la casa imperial japonesa, además cabe destacar por la misma razón antes mencionada, no se pueden excavar a no ser que pase algo muy excepcional como, es el caso de esta publicación, pero no es el único, pero como digo son excepciones, pero sí que se les ha podido hacer un escaneo láser, es decir un mapeo, pero sus estudios son limitados. A no ser, que sea uno que no esté bajo la mano imperial, que hay algunos y de los cuales se han podido estudiar en profundidad.

Dichos túmulos, funerarios algunos de ellos son cenotafios, esto quiere decir que no hay nadie enterrado es una tumba que se hace en honor o en memoria de un personaje importante aunque no se encuentre su cuerpo, como tal y su cronología van desde el 250 d.C/ 629 d.C porque algunos se intentaron construir a lo largo del siglo, VII d.C, pero ya estaban en decadencia, de forma progresiva.

Pero el Daisen Kofun, data del siglo III d.C recientes estudios, ponen en tela de juicio que sea del emperador Nintoku, como se ha dicho tradicionalmente, ya que en el siglo XX no se podía cuestionar la figura del emperador, por cuestiones imperialistas y nacionalistas. ¿Quién está enterrado entonces? Posiblemente, se enterró a un jefe o a un cacique. Lo que está claro es que es alguien importante, ya que pudo reunir mucha mano de obra para su realización. ¿Tiene alguna relación con el reino de Yamatai? No lo sabemos, yo diría que sí, pero lo dejo como posible hipótesis.

¿Cuáles son sus características? 486 metros, 305 de ancho y 33 metros de altura, un total de 41 hectáreas redondeadas. "Shio-ume (塩梅 = Salt plum)"?

Deciding, after all this time, to read more novels to strengthen my Japanese and expand my vocabulary, I scoured the books I had always wanted to read, especially my late father's bookshelves. Naturally, all I found were classic Japanese literature dating back to the pre-Showa period and even centuries earlier.

Two words that have been on my mind recently are ‘Salt plum (塩梅)’.

‘What... suddenly the salt plum...?’

A large red pickled plum with salt gushing out on the surface comes to mind for a moment. However, when reading a novel, the flow of the story is more important, so I seldom stop at a single word, whatever the language.

‘Anbai (塩梅 = just right)’? is this kind of kanji characters. ‘Eh, eh.’

The word means ‘salt and plum vinegar’, and in the days when there was no vinegar, the ume vinegar produced when pickled plums were used to season food. The word was derived from the fact that the taste was ‘It's just right’. 

However, this has been a challenge. The Japanese language is deep. Language is a useful tool for learning about a country's history and culture.

Anyway, I made and ate rice balls with salt plums with the seasonal new rice. Yum, Yum!

「しおうめ」？

今更ながら、日本語を強化し語彙を増やすためにもっと小説を読もうと思い、私はずっと読みたかった本、特に亡き父の本棚を漁った。当然のことながら、私が見つけたのは昭和以前、さらには数世紀前までさかのぼる古典的な日本文学ばかりだ。

近ごろ気になっていた単語が「塩梅」という２文字。

「えっ、いきなり塩梅って…なんだ…？」

塩が表面に噴き出した大粒の赤い梅ぼしが１ケ、一瞬脳裏に浮かぶ。しかし、小説を読むときは、ストーリーの流れの方が重要なので、どんな言語であろうと、一語で立ち止まることはめったにない。

しかし、度々目にすると、流石に気になって調べた。

「あんばい」？ってこういう漢字なんだ。「え、えーっ」！

「塩と梅酢」という意味で、食酢がなかった時代に梅を漬けたときにできる梅酢を使って料理の味付けをしていたそうだ。その味が「良いあんばい」だったことが語源とのこと。良い考えだ！これからは余った梅酢は料理に使おう、と思った。体にも良さそうだ。

しかし、これには参った。日本語は奥が深い。言語とは、その国の歴史や文化を知る上で有効なツールだ。

ともあれ、旬の新米で梅干しおにぎりを作って食べた。うまいうまい！

Loulan “Yes, that’s similar to what my sister said. Yes, you’re right. My sister probably isn’t really my sister, either.”

そだね(Soda-ne): soft, child-like way of saying “そうだね”, sometimes used by girls or young people.

そうだよね(So-dayo-ne.): almost the same as そうだね, but a little stronger.

Maomao (Lies. When she makes this face, they look really similar. Shisui really loves her sister, Suirei. That’s why, even after all that’s happened, she claims they’re unrelated, to protect her. But that logic won’t work at all. Suirei is far too involved in all of the incidents that have happened so far.)

うそつけ(Uso-tsuke.): You’re lying! You’re kidding! Don’t lie.

I don’t know why, but うそつけ grammatically means “Lie,” but actually means “Don’t lie.”

慕う（したう/Shitau）: (Normally lower person) admire, love with respect (higher person)

理屈（りくつ/Rikutsu）: logic, reason, theory

意地（いじ/Iji）: In this case “pride” works well, but 意地 is not the same as 誇り（ほこり/Hokori）: pride. “誇り/Pride” is always used positively, but 意地 is often used negatively. 意地 means your own strong will that you cannot give up or throw away, but it might be seen just as stubbornness by others.

手を上げる（てをあげる/Te’o ageru）: strike, hit, raise one’s hand against

The phrase has other meanings, such as “raise one’s hand” just to speak.

Lahan knows well how to deal with Lakan, and warned him that his sins will befall his beloved daughter and uncle. I like very much how, despite being a weirdo, Lakan dotes on his daughter.

同一人物（どういつじんぶつ/Do-itsu-jin-butsu）: the same person

羅半「ええ。背丈(せたけ)、体重(たいじゅう)、胸回(むねまわ)り、胴回(どうまわ)り、全(すべ)て同(おな)じ数字(すうじ)の人間(にんげん)など、そうそうおりません。大変(たいへん)麗(うるわ)しく、女性(じょせい)でないのが残念(ざんねん)です」

Lahan “Yes. Height, weight, chest, waist… It’s quite rare for two people to have the exact same measurements. You are extremely beautiful. Unfortunate that you weren’t born a woman.”

Lahan apparently see many things in numbers. The La clan is full of eccentrics who excel at one thing, and this will probably be explained in more detail in Season 3 onwards if there is a sequel to the anime.

Needless to say, Lahan is good at math. He always carries an abacus on his waist or in his hand, but Maomao says he can do all his calculations in his head without it.

〇〇くらい/〇〇ぐらい（～Kurai/～Gurai）: usually it means “about/more or less 〇〇”, but it can mean “at (the very) least” depending on the context. = せめて〇〇くらい

This word suggests that Shenmei will soon die or be somewhere far away that is out of reach.

Lihaku “Who’d have thought this tactic would go so well… Also, who’d have thought Shishou, known for his wiles in the palace, would make the mistake of holing up in a place like this.”

とんでもねえ ＝ とんでもない（Tondemo-nai）: unbelievable, outrageous

I prefer this line in the original Japanese novel; 「とんでもねえことやらかすな」と李白(リハク)は思(おも)った。/Lihaku thought, “Hey, they did this outrageous!”

そしり（誹り・謗り/Soshiri）: criticism, slander, vilification, calumny

His speech as the imperial brother was so dignified that everyone there could realize that he was a capable and respectable younger brother of the emperor. This must have come as a huge shock to people, along with the shock of discovering that Jinshi a eunuch and the imperial brother were the same person.

Maomao (Is that…? No way. There’s no way he would be here. The royal guard will arrive any moment now. I might get mistaken as a member of the Shi clan if I stay here. But…)

Before the anime started, I read this part in the original web novel, and at least at that point, this was the scene where Maomao found out that Jinshi was the imperial brother. The scene where Jinshi fought wearing a purple armor and with his hair tied up in a knot was beautifully described, and I got goosebumps when I read it. And Jinshi did not meet Maomao in person, but only found out that she had been rescued when Lihaku sounded the whistle, and was truly relieved. I really liked those scenes, so I was honestly disappointed when I read the published original novel. It was good that the scene where Maomao and Jinshi met was added, but I wished the reunion had been a little more dramatic. After that, when I reread the web novel, the content had been changed to match the published novel, and I was sad the scenes I liked had disappeared. Well, this is just my personal opinion…

猫猫「壬氏様(ジンシさま)、老(ふ)けてるんですね」

Maomao “Jinshi-sama, fuketerun-desu-ne.”

Maomao “Master Jinshi, you’re younger than you look.”

I don’t know the actual nuance of this English line, but if I translate original Japanese line into English directly, it means “You look older than your actual age,” which is clearly an insult. Maomao, just imagine how determined Jinshi must have come here to rescue you! Is there nothing else you can say? I really feel sorry for Jinshi…　In the original novel, it is written as “Although she spoke in a small voice, Jinshi glanced at her, looking a bit annoyed.” So, she might have just talking to herself, including some regret or excuse that she hadn’t realized who he was until that moment.

やりきれねえ ＝ やりきれない（Yari-kire-nai）: unbearable, frustrating

This word refers to the feeling you get when something very sad or painful happens, but there is nothing you can do about it.

パパ（Papa）: Of course this word is from English. There are many way to call your father in Japanese, and the most common one is “お父さん（おとうさん）”. But the pronunciation is a bit difficult for children who are just beginning to speak, so many children start with “Papa” for father, and “Mama” for mother. Some people continue to call their fathers “Papa” even as adults, but this may make them seem childish.

In this episode, we were first shown the state of mind of Shishou, whose thoughts were completely unknown until now. Of course, Shenmei (and the late emperor) are the ones most to blame for this tragedy, but if there was anyone who could have prevented it, it would have been only Shishou. Yet he didn’t even realize that Suirei was being abused, and he didn’t imagine what Loulan, who acted like a doll, really felt and thought. If a god-like being, the late emperor begged him “Please make my daughter your wife,” he couldn’t refuse. In exchange, he could have made Shenmei his wife, so it was inevitable that Shenmei would go crazy with jealousy and anger. However, even if it was too late, he could have talked to Loulan out of Shenmei’s sight after she entered the rear palace. He is probably a good person who is sincere and loyal, but he was unable to stop Shenmei, and Loulan ended up taking on that difficult role instead, which is so sinful.

It's really unfortunate that there will be no broadcast this week at this climax, but this is due to the circumstances of the TV station, and is not the fault of the anime production company. I believe that Season 2 will cover the end of vol.4 of the original novel. One more episode probably won’t be enough time, so I guess there are two more episodes left.

Haruka targeted a child who had been separated from their parents. 死体を雑に際しながら、過は泣く。 While clumsily hiding the body, Haruka cries, 「この子はきっと自分より価値のある人生だっただろう」 "This child's life was probably much more valuable than my own." 「きっと自分より輝かしい未来が待っていただろう」 "This child probably had a brighter future awaiting them unlike mine." 「なんで僕はこうなってしまったんだろう？」 "Why did I end up like this?" 過はそれから毎晩泣いて、悔いた。殺した子供の未来を想い、胸をかきむしる。 Haruka cried, night after night, repenting. He thinks about the future of the child he murdered and claws at his chest. 気がつけば2人目の子供の首を締めていた。 When he came to, he was strangling the neck of a second child.

Translator's Notes: [1] 「心は折れ」 (kokoro wa ore) would colloquially fit the expression "lost faith in" regarding the context of Haruka's parents giving up on him, but that term doesn't encapsulate enough of 心は折れ's nuance where his parents were also heartbroken due to him that they gave up on him. [2] Instead of "doesn't exist", 「居ない」 (inai) was translated into "non-entity" because, unlike "doesn't exist", 居ない implies the negative of a living, animate existence; the "non-" of a living, animate existence, which fits "entity" better than a vague "existence" that can apply to nonliving objects. [3] Since this is a localization, translating 「世界と繋がっている」 (sekai to tsunagatteiru) into "connected to the world" sounds too clinical compared to Haruka feeling that he was indeed "a part of the world". Is it just me, or is the intermediate plateau interminable? I keep waiting to be done with the dreaded intermediate plateau, and sometimes I even get a feeling like I might finally be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but then I try to watch something in Japanese or I am in the middle of a conversation with Japanese people and feel like I have no idea what is going on, and then I feel like I know nothing.

Despite my repeated failures, I am trying to improve my vocabulary and memorize grammar, and I hope to someday escape this purgatory of being not-quite-good-enough at Japanese. I wish there was a magical class I could take called Everything About Advanced Japanese. I think I just miss taking Japanese classes, as those were always my most fun classes.

日本語を勉強している人の中で、日本語の中級レベルのプラトーというのは一番大変なところですね。中級レベルのプラトーに入ったら、永遠に続いていると気がする。いつ終わるのか？いつまで日本語のレベルは中途半端に進んでいないって感じをするのか？たまに、「あ、そろそろ上達して上級レベルに着くのかな」、と思った瞬間、いきなり、「このドラマやニュースやバラエティ番組や会話の内容を全く理解してない」って気づいて、やはり何も分からない。という事を考えます。

何回失敗しても、語彙力を増やそうとしたり、文法を覚えようとしたり、いつかこのプラトーの地獄を越えようと努力します。なんか上級レベルに上がるために授業が有ればいいねと思っています。そういうのはないってわかってるけど、日本語の授業は自分の一番好きな授業だったので、また授業受けたいなと思っています。

February Progress

February seemed like it flew by, but I have been working on getting my daily and weekly goals solidified. I did not get much time to work on the goals I set at the end of January, but I am slowly making progress in working the goals into my daily routine.

I read somewhere that the thing with making new resolutions/goals is not just about doing something new, but about finding the time to do something new. What are you going to give up in order to add the extra tasks to your daily life?

I think that's very poignant because I (as a working mom) have very little time to myself already, so when I do have time I have to be particular about what I do. So I can't just wipe the slate clean and start over because I can't just shirk my responsibilities. So I have to be purposeful in finding where these goals fit in my schedule.

「汽」といえば福沢諭吉がスチームを表す訳語に悩んでいたときに康熙字典で「汽」の文字を見つけて閃いたという逸話があるけれど、私も「スプレー」の訳語を考えていたとき大漢和に載ってた「潵」の字を見てコレだ！と思ったなぁ。解氷潵(かいひょうさん)とか除虫潵とか個人のメモでは使っている。

鳥海山から「丸子」と「鳥」が現れたという言い伝えからこの地は丸子と呼ばれています。この辺りの地名や名字に「丸」が付いているのは鳥海山が由来かもね。「丸子」っていうのが何なのかははっきりとしていなくて色々な説があるのだけど、帽子椅子梯子杓子とか色々な言葉に子が付いてる例もあるし、漢字「子」の一から了で始まりから終わりまでって意味が丸くつながってるって事はウロボロス的な概念を表してたりするのかも、あるいは本当に丸っこい何かがなんて言うか鳥のように？飛んで？何かした？のかもね（あいまい）

豊島 心桜（とよしま こころ、2003年9月25日 - ）は、日本の女優、グラビアアイドル。新潟県五泉市出身。アービング所属。

高校2年時に校則で禁じられていなかったからとUber Eatsを呼んで学校に激怒された結果、3年時の生徒手帳には「デリバリー禁止」が追記された。また、水泳の授業については「朝から塩素の入った水で髪を濡らしたくない」との思いから体調不良と偽って一度も出なかったため、入学時に購入したスクール水着はタグ付きのままで実家に眠っている。当時はオンライン授業ばかりになるなどのコロナ禍にあり、修学旅行については駄目になった海外の代わりである沖縄へ荷物を送ったが、生徒に新型コロナウイル��感染者が出たことから沖縄も駄目になり、1週間後に荷物が返ってきた。さらには、大阪へ変更された時点で緊急事態宣言が出されたため、すべて中止になってしまったという。

スカウトされて仕事を始める前は社長かキャリアウーマンになりたいと思っていたが、20歳になった後は心境に変化が生まれており、タレントとしてこのスタイルが活かせるかもしれないと思うようになったほか、グラビア撮影の際にスタッフからスタイルを褒めてもらった結果、やっても良かったとの旨を述べている。初披露後の反響は凄く、もっと早くからグラビアを始めていれば良かったとの旨で後悔を滲ませている。

『週刊プレイボーイ』2023年47・48合併号にてグラビアを初披露する際にビキニを着用したが、これは1歳半の時にキティちゃんのビキニを着用した時以来のことだった。なお、初披露に際しての予習では頓知気さきなのグラビアを良いと思っていたところ、掲載号の表紙を彼女が担当していたため、思わずテンションが上がってしまったという。また、通常の『週刊プレイボーイ』を見ておこうと思っていたが、増刊『週プレPREMIUM 2023上半期グラビア傑作選』に多数のグラビアアイドルが掲載されているのを見てこちらを先に買い、後から通常の『週刊プレイボーイ』や何冊もの写真集も買って予習したという。

特技は幼稚園年中から中学3年末まで10年ほど続けたクラシックバレエ。ただし、2019年7月時点で身体は固まって久しく、ストレッチ時に頑張れば開脚ができる程度との旨を明かしている。

月に2回は猫カフェへ通うほどの猫好きであるが、上京後は猫アレルギーになってしまい、猫と触れ合う際にはマスクを着用している。

好物にラーメンや麻辣湯（中国語版）を挙げており、前者は週1回、後者は週2回食べている。一方、シイタケが苦手だったが20歳になった後は食べられるようになったという。

「仕事を始めるきっかけとなった憧れの人」には横田真悠を挙げているほか、「私の運命を変えたとっておきのエンタメ作品」には中学生当時に見ていたテレビアニメ『ラブライブ!』を挙げている。

マネージャーはかつて小池栄子を担当していたことからも、豊島には「グラビアもおしゃべりもお芝居もできるようになりなさい」と指示しているという。

本名でもある「豊島心桜」のうち名前の「心桜」は、祖父が好きだったドラマに「桜」の名を持つ人がいたことからその漢字を使いたく、「こころ」か「さくら」にしたいという願望を同時に叶えたものである。

酒については、飲み始めた当時はビールや梅酒のソーダ割りなら飲めるかなという程度だったが、その後は担当編集者と飲みに行かせてもらった際に同じペースで飲んでも自身はまったく顔に出なくなったという。ただ、酒よりもコーラの方が（20歳になる前と変わらず）好きであるという。

漢字の宿題で、タブレットを使うヤツ。

確かにタブレットを使ったらどんな書き順で書いたか

までわかるし採点まで自動でしてくれるから便利だね。

時代は進んでる。

ただ、タブレットで文字書くの難しくない？

最近は宅配便の受け取りとか、

ホテルのチェックインとかでもタブレットに指で

署名させられたりするけど、めっちゃ苦手。

字が下手くそになるよね。

昨日の宿題ではその辺が難しかったらしい。

ゆっくり線を引けばグニャグニャの線になり、

サッと引いたら反応しなかったところが点線のようになる。

間違えてないはずの漢字を何度もやり直しさせられて

最終的にブちぎれて「タブレットの馬鹿！」って泣いてた(笑)

It’s true that thanks to computers and smartphones, there are fewer opportunities to write by hand recently, but still, being able to write beautifully is a very good thing in Japan. I think that people overseas probably have no idea whether the Luomen’s handwriting shown in this anime is beautiful or not, but I thought it very beautiful although I couldn’t read it at all. Handwritten characters are like a work of art, so it’s natural that we can tell who wrote them.

It’s translated as “make travel,” but I think it means moving around in a battle in this case. This word is used to mean to move either a long or short distance.

From this episode, the rapid development towards the climax of Season 2 began. In the anime, Lakan was very cool, wasn’t he? In the original novel, it’s described more comically. While drinking juice with Shishou and Ah-Duo who pretended to be the imperial younger brother, he suddenly took out a mooncake from his pocket and ate it, with tiny pieces of mooncake around his chin, and even after Shishou left, he continued to talk to Ah-Duo about the Go game he had played with his wife… I like the serious and cool Lakan, but I love the gap between the comical and serious parts, so I want the comical movements to be animated without being omitted. That said, when Lakan first appeared I thought he was an absolute villain, so now I can’t believe that I like him very much. Where will Maomao be taken, and what will happen to her? I’m looking forward to the next episode.
