SONG DISCUSSION: Easy Music

At the end o' 2018, I left a creepy housing situation and wound up technically unhoused. Staying at friends' houses, studios, using my disability bus pass to ride indefinitely, or just checking myself into the psyche ward, this went on for more than half a year as I worked on recording and mixing the albums "Paper Flowers," "Short Fiction," and "The Picture."

Many a stuck-up rich hipster, believing me to be one of them, attempted then and 'til the present to guilt me into simply taking money from my "rich family," shewn below, and share it with their anarcho communist community lmao:

Now lissen: well jeez, I already was! Cost of living had risen since "the oogle days" and I couldn't pay rent just from touring, and I was making NOTHING playing toms in the What Cheer!!?! Brigade! Now here's what had happened: In 2016 my physically-abusive father had another violent outbreak, destroying the family vehicle that I was using, and I hadn't been speaking to him or the immediate family very much.

In 2018 he threatened to cut off what little they were giving me to help w/ the rent for the hipsters. TBH, most living situations offered by said hipsters was too much for them to pay anyway! In response, and with the car fully destroyed and gone at that point, I did the only thing I knew how: not much and keep working on music I guess lmao! I left The What Cheer!!?!!? Brigade shortly after, as the hipsters were beginning to act very strange.

At last, feeling bad abt staying at friends' places, I acquiesced and got in touch with my mother. I specifically told her not to bring my father to our first meeting after a while, of course. She obv didn't listen, whining that she thought maybe he was on the autistic spectrum. Ho! What am I then, chopped liver!?

I said I needed help living somewhere. They got another family vehicle, a 2005 Toyota Rav4! And even bought a condo near the border to Johnston. (I'd need the vehicle as there was little nearby relating to my profession!) It ended up being yet another creepy housing situation, of course! But hey, I at least HAD housing lmao, am I right?!

I settled into odd one-bedroom apartment for the long haul, and started taking classes here and there at Brown University, as well as tour from time to time, though I think I only played several shows outside of town in 2019.

At some point, though I still had access to the studio space The What Cheer?!?!!!? Brigade n' some others used for practice, they announced they were going to practice somewhere else. With only a month or two left with the space I knew I had to record the drum and some other parts for an upcoming concept album I had in mind:

Lonely Time, named thus abt a year later

The concept was simple: a cover song album that I would record and produce by myself to practice my performance and engineering enough in preparation for ANOTHER album that would be full of originals, with a cover I'd been performing with live backing musicians, Enya - Only Time, as the inspiration for the title!

I recorded the percussion and maybe other parts for this song and more as quickly as I could and let the recordings sit, as I was in a strange mood and busy with other matters. I did eventually finish the recording myself, plus one (The Sephardic folk song, Morenica, which I ended up releasing as a single) with some friends!

At some point, Covid lockdown hit. As I was reaccustomed to isolation for months at this point, in my mind I scoffed at these n00bs! Pshhh! Oh boo hoo, I thought to myself as I read their lamentations, oh no I haven't had a hug in two weeks no, please, oh wahhh wahhh lmao, but parta me believed that the hipsters were learning the true meaning of their fight against the prison industrial complex and solitary confinement! I continued my activities and formulated a plan for Covid.

Now in 2009 I'd written n' recorded a horrible song called "Easy Music" which I'd wanted to revisit for quite some time! I must warn everybody... it's not very good lmao, though Elana did comment at the time that she enjoyed a quality of the recording she likened to "The Arcade Fire." I think I saw what she meant!

At the beginning of lockdown, I asked myself to revisit the song and use a left hand pattern I'd both never used before and that would be challenging for me to learn. I beefed up the lyrics, expanding upon the motifs and themes of the original. Though I finished writing it quickly, it took me many months to learn how to play what I'd written in my head lmao!

At some point in 2021, I believe, I wanted to change my housing situation, sensing a dip in my mental health for various reasons, such as having to be in close proximity to reminders of my abusive physically and psychologically abusive parents. I thought maybe living with a DIFFErent group of hipsters may help, though I did get back in touch with the prior groups of hipsters, punks, and etc anarchocommunists as well! My descent into madness is catalogued further HERE:

When I found myself in an anarchocommunist cooperative with a piano, I knew what had to be done and video'd myself playing the piano for Easy Music! I ended up in a psyche ward soon after, where I finalized the lyrics for this and many other songs. It wasn't until after I had to move back into the apartment, and then a house, THIS house that I'm typing from in Cranston, however, that I was able to complete the recording, layering my vocals o'er the audio from the video of me playing the piano at the cooperative. I released it as parta "Lonely Time" in 2023, loosening the concept of the album so that it wouldn't have to be just covers.

I used the video of me on piano to make the official music video just a few months ago (though a prior version of the music video, with footage of me singing superimposed over the piano video, is somewhere on youtube on an account I can't delete and that Youtube won't respond to requests to delete it lmao!) The rest is history...

大家好歡迎收聽米高的英語手札，每天三分鐘與您分享英語世界大小事，在上一週的節目中，我們介紹了酷熱的天氣之中，人們最常使用的兩種冰品、冰棒與冰淇淋的英語用法，而在英語之中，冰淇淋家族其實還有不少的種類，他們也都有各自相對應的英語字詞，我今天就來一一的介紹，也希望大家都能夠喜歡。

 第一個，我要介紹的冰淇淋家族是，soft serve ice cream ，soft、s-o-f-t，serve、s-e-r-v-e，ice、i-c-e，cream、c-r-e-a-m。soft serve ice cream 就是指中文裡的霜淇淋，它也可以直接用 soft serve 兩個字來代替。他的口感，比一般的冰淇淋更柔軟，乳含量更低，空氣占比也比較多，下面常常會配上餅乾筒來食用。而麥當勞，則使用蛋捲冰淇淋，也就是 ice cream cone 一詞來稱呼他們的這種商品，ice、i-c-e，cream、c-r-e-a-m，cone、c-o-n-e。

 @例如在中文裡我們說，可以給我一根霜淇淋嗎？謝謝，這句話時，我們的英語就可以說成 【Can I have a soft serve, please？】

 第二個，我要介紹的冰淇淋家族是 gelato，gelato、g-e-l-a-t-o。gelato 就是指義式冰淇淋。它比起一般的冰淇淋更強調新鮮製作，是採用天然食材打成冰，不添加過多合成化合物，口感綿密，脂肪及空氣含量也比較低，他也是一個直接來自於義大利語的外來字。

 @例如在中文裡，我們要說義式冰淇淋，最好是在製作當天食用 這句話時，我們的英語就可以說成【The gelato is best served the day it is made.】

 第3個，我要介紹的冰淇淋家族是 dondurma，dondurma、d-o-n-d-u-r-m-a。dondurma 就是土耳其冰淇淋，他也稱作 Turkish mastic ice cream. Turkish、T-u-r-k-i-s-h，mastic、m-a-s-t-i-c，ice、i-c-e，cream、c-r-e-a-m。dondurma 的特色是裡面會加入特殊成分，所以質地黏稠、不易融化，也常常被攤商以此特點來捉弄消費者，他也是1個來自土耳其語的直借外來字。

 @例如在中文裡，我們若要說，晚餐後，珍吃了土耳其冰淇淋來當作甜點 這句話時，我們的英語就可以說成【After dinner, Jane had dondurma for dessert.】

 第四個，我要介紹的冰淇淋家族是 frozen yogurt，frozen、f-r-o-z-e-n，yogurt、y-o-g-u-r-t。frozen yogurt 字面的直譯是冰凍的優格，而她也就是一般我們稱呼的優格冰淇淋。它是優格，加上新鮮水果打成的冰品，熱量低，是低脂肪或是零脂肪的冰淇淋。他也可以簡稱成 froyo、f-r-o-y-o。而 froyo 這個字則來自於一個美國知名的優格冰淇淋品牌。

@例如在中文裡，我們要說約翰出門去買優格冰淇淋了 這句話時，我們的英語就可以說成【John went out to pick up some froyo.】

啟翔輕金屬-陳百欽,以創新的綠能環保愛地球的政策，打造綠色智慧生態之輕金屬科技創新園區

新屋區的啟翔輕金屬科技股份有限公司，專注於金屬鋁製品的製造。該公司由陳百欽董事長領導，曾榮獲34屆創業楷模獎和創業相扶獎。陳百欽董事長表示，協信鋁材成立於民國73年，為確保永續經營，陸續建立了凱鉅鋁業股份有限公司和啟翔輕金屬科技股份有限公司。這形成了一條龍的鋁產業生產線，不僅能就近取得原料供應，還能大幅減少包裝、運輸、倉儲等成本。藉由這些效益，公司成功提升了產品的精密度。

日前開南大學產業菁英班參觀該園區時陳百欽也親帶領學員們參觀5.6萬坪大的廠房，陳百欽表示，台灣的鋁產業約有80多家公司，產值約200億元，啟翔市占率逾10％，在業界算是第一名。而公司也不斷的研究開發創造優質產品，更以服務客戶、貢獻社會以及提升員工福祉的經營理念，追求企業長青的終極目標。

開南大學產菁班的蘇杉郎董事長表示，啟翔公司最令他印象深刻的，該公司採行綠能環保愛地球的政策，使工廠園區成為一座綠能智慧生態之輕金屬科技創新園區，其中水資源設置了雨水集中池、生態池及淨化池，可使用於冷卻水及生活用水達成100%自給自足，降低對水資源的依賴。而該公司的設計也採綠建築方式規劃，符合綠建築之規範與節能減碳的要求，並規劃人造濕地及植栽，具降溫及美化生態的效益。

陳百欽表示，一個企業的成功，除了經營者旺盛的企圖心與堅定的決心外，更要靠全體成員一致的向心力與意志力，不畏艱難共同在既定的目標下全力以赴，追求完美。公司有多元化的產品，包括電子電機類、綠能環保類、生活家具類、建築材料類的不同的鋁製產品，並擴展歐洲、美國、日本、東南亞、澳洲等外銷市場，比例超過50%。

陳百欽指出，啟翔輕金屬創新園區，擁有完整的產業聚落，提供一次性的解決方案，並已精實的生產模式，提供產一元化及時供應的優質服務，工廠生產採「一條龍」的生產模式，就是從原料到成品，所有工藝都可以在園區一次完成。主要效益就是提高效率與品質，同時降低損耗與成本，以促進產業升級，創造產品價值，提升競爭力。

陳百欽解釋一條龍生產是指，從原料的鋁錠到合金鑄造，到「鋁擠成型」再到表面處理，而表面處理又包括陽極處理、粉體塗裝、氟碳烤漆及特殊表面處理四大項；再下一步就是「加工」，而加工部分更細分門窗、帷幕牆、板金、CNC精密加工、鋁製車斗、3C電子產業、太陽能光電產品及醫療產業與汽車工業等，最後再經組裝、成品就運輸出貨，完成一條龍的生產，既省時也省錢。

面對ESG趨勢 再生鋁勢在必行

在ESG趨勢及為政府要求碳足跡追蹤管制下，國內鋁產業鏈重量級企業正共同研商採用能大幅降低碳排的再生鋁(又稱為環保鋁或乾淨鋁)的可行性，待材料標準確立、材料的製程、抗拉、降伏、化性、擠型條件、折彎、焊接等特性符合加工需求後，預期「再生鋁」將成為鋁業發展新思維以及迎接ESG挑戰的絕佳方案。

鋁門窗業更是鋁材使用大戶，鋁錠大多以火力、燃煤發電來進行鋁礬土電解，每噸鋁排碳16-18噸，水利發電的電解鋁錠一噸約排碳4噸，相較之下，回收及生產再生鋁只產生2到3噸碳，能大幅降低碳排。除此，在俄羅斯因烏俄戰爭被管制出口或貿易制裁，俄鋁又為全球第三大鋁業，因此鋁材出現供應失衡現象，另在全球ESG的趨勢、我國政府開始要求建材業ESG以及碳足跡追蹤管制，因此可以預見「再生鋁」勢將成為鋁產業一項必須面對的重大議題。啟翔輕金屬科技董事長陳百欽表示，再生鋁材是一種環保友善、可持續發展的材料，其重要性不僅體現在減少對自然資源的需求，更在於降低能源消耗和減少廢棄物的產生。透過再生鋁材的使用，我們有機會減緩對地球的環境衝擊，同時能有效推動循環經濟的實踐。支持再生鋁材不僅是對可持續發展的一種承諾，更是對地球未來的愛護和負責任的表現。這種綠色的選擇不僅在企業層面推動了環保理念，更引領了產業和消費者朝向更可持續的未來邁進。
