Red Mango Cacao Green @ 명동 - ★★☆☆☆

I was craving cake after dinner so TH오빠 and I went on a hunt for a cake café at 명동. Unfortunately, if you’ve been to 명동 before, you’d know that there aren’t many cake café’s in the area. If there were, it’s the typical caffé bene type of cake. After much searching, online and by foot, while everything around us was closing, we found a café to go to that seemed promising…… especially with the word cacao in its name, I just started imagining chocolate~~ oh chocolate……

How to get there: from 명동역 take exit 6. I normally like taking exit 7 whenever I come to 명동 because it’s less crowded and it’s an ESCALATOR! Oh the laziness, I know ;P anyways, either exit will bring you to the main street of 명동. Once you’re on the main road, just keep walking straight down. Keep walking until you hit MIXXO which should be on your right. Once you hit MIXXO, there should be an entrance on the right of MIXXO’s entrance. Enter that and take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Turn left when you get off the elevator and ta-da!

First Impression: There were coffee beans on display right when you entered the café. It seemed really promising, but after taking two steps, it just looked like any typical Korean café. The counter seemed small compared to the sitting area. It was a bit confusing since the café had a hostess stand across from the ordering counter. The display of chocolate was what caught my eye though. I also found it surprising that this place isn’t just one café, but TWO café’s put together.

What was ordered: 

Chocolate Affogato w/Dark Chocolate Brownie Set (12,500) – Because it was so late, and I was a bit full from 고기, I decided to order just one thing. I would have ordered the 빙수 but it was a bit cold for that and I think I was getting sick T.T so I settled for the lava cake. I DID want cake or some sort of cake after all. The chocolate was so creamy and not terribly sweet. I love chocolate but hate the feel after downing 2 bars of chocolate within 2 minutes. Well this was just great. It was rich but not heavy. The only sweet thing from this was the ice cream, which was vanilla based. So chocolate + vanilla equals heaven ;P unfortunately, the brownie wasn’t that great. Maybe it’s because we were one of the last customers. We went around 9:45-10pm. The brownie for me was stale :(  

Price: The price was the same as food in any café. It came with the brownie and coffee which isn’t bad for 12,500. Even the 빙수 was decently priced.

Overall: The ambiance was very chill. Maybe it’s because of the time we went but there weren’t a lot of people. It’s a great place to people watch if you can grab a seat near the window. If you do decide to sit near the window though, remember that people across the street from you , which is another café, can also watch you o.O other than that, it was a great place for a chocolate lover like me. I just wish I had tried a fresh brownie instead :((((((
