When we all fall asleep where do we go.

Don’t smile at me로 처음 그녀를 알게 되었다.

idontwannabeyouanymore 이라는,

띄어쓰기 하나 없는 제목이 재밌었고

앨범 전반적으로 반항과 어두움에 매료된 뮤지션이 아닌가,

하는 생각을 했다.

그리고 아마, 그 당시 BBC Sound Of에 선정되었을텐데

많은 Sound Of 아티스트 중 단연 눈에 띄었다.

음악 뿐만 아니라 아티스트 자체가 굉장히 매력적이었으니까.

이번 작품도 좋다.

음악은 기대한 대로다.

사운드 활용은 좀 더 다양해졌고 좋아졌다.

다크톤의 음반이 지닌 ‘지루함’이라는 단점을 사운드로 극복한다.

뮤직비디오는 예상한 대로, 그것보다 쪼금 ‘지나친데...’라는 생각.

다만 뮤지션 본인의 지향점이나 정체성을 그대로 드러내는 듯 하다.

‘Bad Guy’와 ‘When The Party’s Over’는 이 음반의 베스트 트랙.

이 두 곡은 스타일 적으로는 양극단에 있으면서도,

빌리 아일리쉬의 컬러를 제대로 드러내면서

음반이라는 묶음 안에 자연스럽게 배치되어 있다.

Bad Guy를 통해 스타일메이킹 능력을 제대로 발휘하고,

When The Party’s Over를 통해 트랙에 대한 뮤지션의 장악력을 보여준다.

두 트랙 외에도 음반의 톤을 유지한 상태에서 

14트랙이 저마다의 스타일로 흘러나와 지루하지가 않다.

최근의 인터뷰에서 깊은 우울감 같은 것이 삐져나와보여,

이번 음반이 혹시 자기파괴의 결과물은 아닐까, 우려되지만.

음반 자체는 추천하고 싶다.
