Artist of the week: Suran.

Shin Su Ran (신수란) es una cantante de 30 años de Corea del Sur que me gusta mucho. La conocí por una colaboración y desde entonces sigo su música. En mi opinión tiene un estilo único gracias a su voz y a su manera de cantar, lo que va bastante bien con sus canciones indie-pop y/o R&B.

Recientemente sacó una nueva canción llamada 오늘 취하면 (Wine), la cual incluye un rap por parte de Changmo y fue producida por Suga (BTS). Sin dudas, una de las canciones del mes y que claramente va a estar en mi lista “April material”. De género R&B, también incluye un toque Hip-Hop por el rap, y por lo que se puede escuchar en el instrumental de la canción, se escuchan bases de electrónica que encajan perfectamente. Denle una oportunidad a este tema y seguro no se van a arrepentir de haberlo buscado.

[오늘 취하면 (Wine) (Feat. Changmo) (Prod. Suga) - Suran]

Como dije antes, conocí a Suran gracias a una colaboración. La misma se trata de So Far Away de Agust D (nombre como solista de Suga de BTS), una canción increíble (una de mis favoritas, de hecho) con una letra tanto hermosa como reflexiva (tal vez medio triste para algunos pero yo no lo veo tan asi), vale la pena buscarla y entender la canción, con música y letra.

Después de este tema y de que me haya encantado su manera de cantar, pasé a escuchar Paradise Go y Calling In Love, canciones más indie-pop, para mí.

Aunque Suran no tenga tantas canciones o un álbum entero (hasta donde sé, en realidad me falta buscar más a fondo por sus canciones más viejas), las pocas que tiene puedo asegurar que son muy buenas y se puede apreciar los diferentes matices que puede cubrir con su voz. De verdad, es una cantante increíble. A pesar de las pocas canciones que pueda tener, prestó su voz en numerosas colaboraciones, como por ejemplo Pride and Prejudice de Zico, y la anterior nombrada, So Far Away de Agust D.

Su último single antes de Wine fue Winter Bird, una canción lenta acompañada por un piano y la increíble voz de Suran. Dejo el video abajo:

November 24th, 2015, Suran released the single: Calling In Love

Suran (수란) born Shin Su-ran (신수란) on July 15th, 1986. She released her very first single, ‘’Secret Kiss’’ under the name Baily Shoo. Some time later she changed her stage-name to Elena and released a single as a member of the due Lodia: ‘’I Got A Feeling’’. In 2014 she released the digital single ‘’I Feel’’ which was her debut as Suran. ‘Calling In Love’ is her second digital single. 2015 must have been a very rough year for her, due to being diagnosed with breast cancer, thankfully she is healthy today!
