"맞아. 나는 내가 원하는 사람 앞에서만 보여. 사실 꽤나 영광으로 알아야 해." 클락워크는 의자를 뒤로 젖혔다. 그는 떠날 생각이 없어보였고, 블라드는 그가 떠나게 만들 방법이 없었다.

블라드는 한숨을 쉬고서 서류작업으로 돌아갔다. 사무실은 시곗소리를 제외하면 조용했고... 어쩌면 시계들일지도 모르겠지만... 잠시만, 시곗소리? 그는 사무실에 아날로그 시계는 전혀 두지 않았다.

"어디서 나는 거야?"

클락워크는 순진한 놀란 표정을 보였다.

블라드는 다음날 짜증이 난 상태로 출근했다. 집에서도 일을 하는 바람에 충분히 잠들지 못했고, 무엇보다 알람이 울리지 않았기 때문에, 그는 지친 상태로 출근해 사무실로 달려갔다.

"좋은 아침." "스윗 버터 비스켓!"

모든 것이 여기저기로 흩어졌다. 차가 지난밤 블라드가 작업한 서류에 쏟아졌다. 블라드는 '시간의 유령'을 죽일듯한 표정으로 쳐다보았다. "백업 자료는 없어."

블라드는 커피로 보이는 것과 블루베리 머핀이 든 쇼핑백을 들고 들어왔다. 클락워크의 옆 테이블에 머핀을 내려놓고, 다시 노트북을 켰다. 그는 지금 시간이 남았고, 그래서 나중에 할 예정이었던 이메일 읽기를 하기로 결정했다.

"네 건 어딨어?"

"내 것?" 그는 다시 노트북 화면 너머로 클락워크를 바라보았다.

"네 아침식사."

이메일을 정리하기에는 그른 듯 싶었다. 블라드는 노트북을 닫았다.

"난 아직 안 죽었잖아?" 매우 날카로운 침묵 끝에 블라드는 다른 방법으로 말하기로 했다. "자, 나는 반유령이야... 네가 알듯이. 하지만 그 외에 내 건강 상태는 매우 완벽하다고."

클락워크는 여전히 납득하지 않은 채로, 머핀을 쇼핑백에서 꺼내 반으로 잘라, 더 큰 조각을 블라드에게 내밀었다.

"다 먹을 때까지 떠나지 마." 클락워크는 공중에 뜬 채로 자기 자리로 돌아가 나머지 반쪽을 먹기 시작했다. "숨길 생각 하지 마. 내가 시력이 없기는 하지만, 알아차리지 못하진 않으니까."

쓰레기통에 머핀을 버리려던 블라드는 클락워크의 지적에 놀란채로 숨을 들이마쉬고는 결국 아침을 먹기로 결심했다. "넌 정말 곤란한 놈이야. 알아?"

"알아. 옵저번트들이 늘상 내게 말하니까."

"옵저번트? 그들과 일한다고?" 블라드는 갑자기 마음이 불편해졌다. 떠다니는 커다란 눈알 유령들은 정말로 블라드를 싫어했다. 클락워크가 자신을 잡아 감옥에 가두기 위해 온 건 아닐까. 옵저번트들이 볼텍스에게 했던 것처럼.

Zoey stretched lazily across the couch, lips curved in a smirk, while Mira leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching.

“Okay,” Rumi whispered, her tone soft but commanding. “Let’s review.”

You tried your best to focus. But it was hard.

Especially with the way Zoey’s fingers trailed over your knee. The way Mira’s eyes tracked every twitch of your lips when you spoke.

“나는…” you began, but your breath caught when Zoey’s hand slid higher.

Her voice purred in your ear. “Say it.”

Your throat tightened. “나는… 너희를 좋아해요.”

Rumi smiled. “Good.”

But Zoey’s hand slipped between your thighs.

“You’re doing so well,” Rumi whispered, brushing her fingertips over your cheek. Her eyes stayed soft, but her other hand pressed on your thigh, holding you still.

Mira pushed off the wall, stepping closer. Her gaze was sharper. Darker.

“Next phrase,” she said, her voice smooth but firm. “Say: ‘Please don’t stop.’”

Your breath hitched.

Zoey’s fingers slid beneath your waistband, her lips ghosting against your ear.

Rumi tilted her head. “Say it, baby.”

You swallowed hard.

Zoey’s pace didn’t slow. Her fingers stayed deep, steady, relentless.

Rumi kissed your temple, her voice soft. “One more.”

Her breath warmed your skin.

You whimpered, body shaking, legs trembling—but you spoke.

오늘은 춥고 비가 와요. 날씨가, 뭐해요? 아무튼 어제는 물리치료사랑 같이 운동했어요. 다른 남자도 있고 재미있었어요. 내가 혈심히 운동하고 힘들었지만 물리치료사와 나도 역시 농담하고 있었어요. ㅋㅋㅋ 근데 물리치료사와 운동을 끝을 때 필라테스를 할 수 있을 거예요~~ 행복해용! 사실 물리치료사가 이미 할 수 있다고 말했지만 조금만 기다릴 거예요. 개들 티셔츠를 좋아해요? 색칠을 책 문장의 번역이 여기 있어요:

It started with a mistake.

You were trying to practice Korean, lips curling carefully around each syllable while Mira scrolled through choreography notes beside you.

But you said something wrong.

Really wrong.

“언니 너무… 예뻐서 죽을 것 같아요.”

Mira’s head snapped up. Her eyes narrowed—but there was a smile tugging at her lips.

“That’s not what you meant to say,” she murmured.

You blinked. “I didn’t?”

Zoey snorted from across the room, throwing herself dramatically onto the couch.

“Oh my god. Babe. You just said, ‘You’re so beautiful I could die.’”

Rumi let out a soft laugh behind her cup of tea, eyes crinkling at the corners.

Your face flushed.

“I meant—I meant to say I liked your jacket.”

Mira leaned in, smirk sharp but her eyes warm.

“Well, I liked what you said better.”

That night, the three of them decided to help you study.

They curled up around you on the floor of the safehouse living room—practice books scattered across the rug, Zoey balancing your notebook on her knees, Rumi softly correcting your pronunciation.

Mira tapped your knee when you slipped up, her tone low but patient.

“Try again.”

Her voice sent shivers down your spine every time.

Zoey leaned over your shoulder, breath hot against your ear.

“Say, ‘I like you.’ Come on. Say it.”

You swallowed, heat crawling up your neck.

Rumi smiled, her eyes soft.

“Perfect.”

You hesitated.

Mira’s hand found yours under the table.

They smiled anyway.

Zoey kissed your cheek. Rumi pressed her forehead to your shoulder. Mira squeezed your hand.

“This is how you get better,” Rumi whispered, lips brushing the curve of your neck. “By practicing.”

Zoey laughed softly, curling into your lap.

“And by saying dangerous things.”

Mira’s eyes gleamed, but her touch stayed gentle.

“Don’t worry,” she murmured. “We’ll teach you everything you need to know.”

Your notebooks stayed on the floor.

The lights stayed low.

The lessons continued—but none of them were about grammar anymore.

I wanted to introduce myself and give you a bit of context for this blog. I've been learning Korean on and off for a few years - all throughout my college and university studies. But I always found myself stuck at a very beginner level, or too busy with school work to make real progress.

I graduated university last april, but I found myself completely burnt out. With my mental health completely deteriorated, I lost touch with my hobbies. Numbing myself by doomscrolling became a nasty habit when I realized I had lost all passion for the things I loved. I could not get up to do anything. I'm sure I'm not the only person who's felt this way entering a new stage of life; especially one that'll define how I spend my time for the majority of the rest of my life.

I've only recently started getting my spark back. It's not quite a spark yet, but if I keep hitting the rocks, I hope it'll eventually restart my fire.

This blog will be a simple blog, about my interests. I've started getting back into Korean, and I wanted a space to record all of my progress - the new things I learn and the stuff I find interesting. There might be an attempt at journal posts - in Korean. This will be my way to be involved in what I'll be learning, and maybe meet some people, who knows!

I occasionally read books and I'm an avid tea drinker, so you might see some posts about that too. 차 좋아해요!

You might see some mistakes in my English and my Korean. I'm at an advanced level in English, but I'm a beginner at Korean. My native tongue is French! Feel free to correct me.

5 Different Ways to Say What in Korean

‘What’ is always a keyword in a language, and important to growing your vocab and skills but there are actually multiple ways to say ‘What’ in Korean! Which one you use depends on the information and the words’ location in a sentence.

1. 무엇/뭐

뭐 and 무엇 are probably the ‘What’ you’ll hear the most when starting to learn Korean. But 뭐 is a shortened version and casual form of 무엇. 무엇/뭐 can be used when the subject is unidentified, and should not be used in front of nouns. So for example you cant say “뭐 노래”.

Examples of 무엇/뭐:

이거 뭐 예요?: What is this? 이름이 뭐예요?: What’s your name?

2. 어떤

어떤 comes from 어떻다 and can be used for questions about both objects and people. It’s used more when you want more information or to specify; from a name, type/genre, description, and more. It’s similar to asking “What kind of —?” where the possible answers are more limited and specific.

Examples for 어떤:

어떤 영화를 보고 싶어요?: What type of movie do you want to watch? 어떤 노래를 좋아해요?: what kind of songs do you like?

3. 무슨

무슨 is similar to 어떤 and is used before a noun in a question. 무슨 is used for clarification, typically when you don’t have an idea. Compared to 어떤, the options for the answer are more limited.

When to use 무슨:

무슨 생각해?: What are you thinking about? 무슨 노래를 좋아해요?: What song do you like?

So you can see in my examples for “— 노래를 좋아해요” adding 무슨 vs 어떤 has different nuances to it! If you compare “— 영화를 보고 싶어요” adding 무슨 has the meaning more directly asking for a movie title, while 어떤 is asking for a genre or type of movie.

4. 어느

어느 mostly means which but is used to mean ‘What’ in Korean as well. If you’re using 어느 you already have options in mind and are asking between them.

어느 Usage Examples:

어느 나라 사람이에요?: What country are you from? (Which country person are you?) 어느 색깔이 더 좋으세요: Which color do you like better?

5. 몇

Finally, 몇 is just used with numbers and counting. While it doesn’t always mean ‘What’ in Korean, it’s used like ‘What’ in certain cases.

Examples for 몇:

몇 시가 가장 좋으세요?: What time works best for you? 지금 몇 시예요?: What time is it? 몇 분이세요?: How many people? (for example: it’s used a lot at restaurants, asking how many people in your group)
