Green: What is your OC’s favorite piece of clothing?

its not clothing but this anklet is something youll always find on them. its one of those things they've vowed never to part with. as it belongs to their mom and its imbued with a few of her feather so it shimmers with color when in the sun, it used to be her bracelets but after parting with her, salem has worn them ever since so that they never forget the loving mom she was and not the broken woman she is.

Peppermint: How does your OC handle the cold?

It doesn't affect Salem, there is literally fire in their blood, so it doesn't even occur to Salem that it should be handled. If they were to try and make a snow angel, the snow would've melted the second the Phoenix got close lmao. They quite enjoy the cold though, especially because sometimes they already warm, a nice cool breeze is amazing,

i know i probably make a hc like this already, but salem's birdlike tendencies are so prelevant to people who are close to them. the chirps, the little hops, it's just so fucking cute.

honestly when it comes to my avians, please know they're more birb than human. stress gripping, the ruffled features, all of that, they make chirps, tweets and all of that on a normal basis.

Nests are incredibly important to my avians. It provides a source of comfort. Of familiarity and bits and suchthat go into nest come from their mates or the people they intend to court. This is most because those scents act like a reset point when they become too stressed. Some of my avians resort to tearing their feathers out so this can be a way to prevent.

a reference for the color of salem's wings. while not always out, the color of their flames is also reflected in these colors.

phoenixes tend to vary in color depending just what they specialize in. some phoenixes like salem are rainbow hued because they are part of the species that often have a more artistic view on life and were some of the first phoenixes in existence.

whereas elliot's color is more greenish and red because of them being more prone to being venomous. regardless of this, their tears still heal many.

their feathers are incredibly precious and a rare commidity that no one has ever managed to get a hold of. most feathers that fall off willingly, whether they've been preened or otherwise do not last long, they have a lifespan of exactly two hours before completely withering away.

elliot tends to keep his wings out, because it's what he's used to whereas Salem goes without because unless they're creating something massive, it's the only time their wings are needed. but there's no hiding that they're essentially mythical birbs, they both ( salem moreso ) have feathers hidden within their hair, salem along their hairline and elliot with actually hidden within his messy hair.

they molt around the same time, elliot's feathers becoming more red with ash gray mixed in while salem's take on a gradient of blues and greens with ivory mixed in splashes. they tend to disappears for a few weeks period to help in this presence and aren't seen outside of the people who are close to them.

NAME — Salem Paris.

PROFESSION — Painter & Sculptor.

WHERE THEY CAN BE FOUND — When they aren't in the middle of a commission piece, mostly at musuems gazing at art. At their siblings paint & sip studio, they drink lots of wine during the day then laze around looking for inspiration to do something silly with their talents. Sitting high up in a tree, gazing at the sky and contemplating the imperfections in a piece they've finished and handed off.

FAVORITE FOOD TYPE — Sushi mostly, especially tuna and seabass. Cashews. Mostly anything that are finger foods. Salem is a being who uses their hands alot and it makes them feel closer to food when they eat with their hands.

FAVORITE ALCOHOIC DRINK — Apple pie moonshine comes in second, but Plum Soju has become a favorite since they've had it.

WHERE THEY WOULD GO ON A DATE — Salem hasn't dated much, mostly because it's hard to gain interest in anything when you're creative brain wants to create masterpieces. But if they're being honest, probably a quiet beach, with blue waters, warm sand and a picnic where they can just enjoy their person's company.

IDEAL GIFT — Attention. Set aside time to pay them attention. Salem is very low maintenance, but they do want the sole attention to be on them. Other than that, mugs. Salem is growing a certain hyperfixation to silly mugs, anything oddly shaped or has some fun quote on it.

HOW MANY DATES UNTIL THEY KISS — Probably three ? Salem likes to feel someone out before they go for any type of affection. They've been alive for awhile and every person is different but if they click, then it might even take two and Salem is certainly the one who'll take the initiative.

some random salem meta.

his brand of phoenix has tears that heal, like legit miracle healing from the brink of death. salem does not divulge this, only used in dire straits.

salem is strong, despite his lithe frame, they can crunch a human's bone with a simple squeeze. they only reserve this for those who touch without permission.

they love to create beautiful things, hence the profession they chose in this rebirth. they still create paintings, but sculpture are they're thing now too. taking time to creature these things is a passion that simply cannot be contained.

salem's mom is a very sweet individual, always smiling and just full of sunshine. the second salem left the nest, she cried. they still exchange letters and stuff til this day but she's giving them space to spread their wings. they're still her baby.

salem mates for life. once they're attached to someone, they will be with that person until forever, new rebirth or not.

salem and cats don't really get along. especially feral cats, something about him just attracts the feral ones and they always tend to attack them.

they absolutely love fruits, especially apples and fat, green grapes. something about those two are just crisp and satisfying.

Speaking of fire, and subsequently Salem's body, something that kills/harms them in the previous rebirth wont work again in the next. For example, metal or steel from a scalpel or a knife/blade, will melt as it touches their skin because the fire in their blood would recognize it and burn it into a puddle.

when it comes to my beastkin, they live in a world where humans are aware of their presence, they don't bother hiding the animalistic traits that make them who they are.

my birds ( salem, elliot, ezra & ogun ), most of their fingers are talon-like, they stress-grip and make trilling noises, that haunting gunshot noise shoebills make, that loud noise hawks make, and for salem and elliot, you can tell they're phoenixes, because they're pale enough to see the fire in their veins. most of my birds, their wingspan will always be five times the width of their body ( it's suppose to support their weight ) and yes, they do have somewhat hollow bones but most of them have musculature skeletons that can handle harsh landings.

same with my predators, all my cats tend to make growling noises, they knock shit off tables, hiss, they have tails. most of this is not hidden, they can half-shift, and fully shift without a seconds notice, especially if in an emotional state. they get the zoomies, they go into heats ( where applicable for their animal ) and they have mating instincts.

and for some of them, but especially for my cats and birds, more specifically for my birds (i.e elliot and salem ), they tend to have like feathers hidden in their hair, or light feathers along their spine, they hop, and coo, and trill when happy, they make distressed noises. they're not human, they're still beasts no matter how pretty the human skin is.

Gonna be honest, if you think Salem is a morally grey character, you're right. They really do not care about humans proclivity to says what's right and what's wrong. You touch without permission? Salem is breaking your fingers. You sniff around Marvin? Well, they might take your eyes. Who knows?

IZUKU.

other than the notebooks, izuku has a habit of organizing everything in his room. he's one of those people that if there's a bit of mess, it's there for him to sort through. any subject of class he has has a separate notebook because of how tightly packed even one page can be. he's also gotten into the habit of carrying water around, because he can definitely be a trouble magnet and afterwards, he's always a little thirsty.

also, izuku downplays his own feelings. its a habit of simply either not acknowledging them or just acting like everything is fine when someone asks because he doesn't trust someone enough to take him serious without thinking they'll ridicule him. another good habit he has though, is always taking his friends feelings into account, to know their boundaries and the things they enjoy. having friends in ua, knowing he would put his life on the line for them makes him aware of their every day antics.

EDWARD.

if ed ever leaves to go travel, he never leaves without his pocket watch. and his hypervigilance makes it so he's always giving someone a second glance. he travels light though, mostly because a lot of the currency he's saved up is used to buying everything he needs. that and after traveling even before then, he's really good with a needle and thread. he carries dried meats and bread to keep him sustained.

this man can sleep anywhere, but they're powernaps more than anything. cold weather still makes him ill, especially given what his body has gone through and he just immediately bundles up and needs to be near a source of heat. if he's traveling with someone, he has a habit of striking up conversation, or offering to pay for things or just lets his curiosity take the reigns.

SALEM

once upon a time, salem had a co-dependant attachment to their sibling, elliot and separation anxiety definitely set in quickly. this happened after dr. cassini experimented on salem and when salem escaped, they lived with elliot for a period of 6 years before elliot forced them to part to do their own thing. it was rough, and they still talk every day but sometimes salem hates that they put such a burden on their sibling. being apart from a sibling, sucks so bad but especially the sibling they're close with. it's not as sad as it is traumatic, but salem tends to live life recklessly, but this one experience definitely changed the course they've taken moving forward.

DR. CASSINI

number one goal ? sating his curiosity, no matter the cost. part of their goals as a scientist is creating cures for things he views as viruses, whether it be things like stds, or even dissecting the woes of being a shifter. he wants to know about the genome and how it's affected by mental health, or under the influence of hard drugs. there's no ending of his small goals. because they're all working toward just how much knowledge he soaks up, while also putting others in harms way. because a lot of time, he doesn't view the people he hurts as people, but a part of his curiosity he needs to dissect down to the core until they give him the revelations that are much needed.

once someone gets past the first prickly layer that salem holds, they realize that they're a bit of a snarky shit. salem likes teasing people, not to get them to smile, but often to draw out a favorable reaction. on the flipside, they tend to watch people who are within the space they occupy. you'll find them staring, but they won't look away when caught.

hc + creation ( Salem )

When it comes to creation of anytime, Salem is big on letting their creative juices fly. There’s absolutely nothing they can’t create. From paintings, to stone sculptures, to ceramics, to even glassblowing. A lot of this, but especially ceramics and glassblowing, the flames the phoenix possess help them out a lot in the creative process.

Glassblowing is something of a new talent, but one Salem has thrown themselves into. And while glassblowing is the term, Salem is like a personal forge, where they can melt gold, silver and the like to create cups, plates, weapons if they so desire. I think a lot of what Salem creates is based on their mood at the time. Someone could get silver swans on a teacup, a chandelier in all it’s splendid glory, a bust of themselves with a golden crown, or something as deadly as a trident, so intricately crafted by their hands that it’s one of a kind and no one else could ever replicate. 

And if Salem is creating something based on someone, it’s because they’re creating based on what they see in the person’s soul, what they can see, and what they can cajole from said person. Sometimes it’ll take them days, or a few hours considering just how quickly they get engrossed in a particular project.
