In retrospect, typing out text messages that you shouldn't really be sending, within the actual chat box, was a fucking awful idea. But it wasn't as though he'd ever meant to click 'Send'   —  nor was he thinking particularly clearly that evening in the first place, clearly. It was nobody's fault, right?

It was most certainly not the wrong number, nor was it any sort of joke. He didn't even text other people. And besides that, he seriously did need an answer to the question. He just... hadn't meant to actually ask it. The cellular data wasn't working out here to Google anything, so he hadn't figured that his texts were at risk of sending either.

The teenager's eyes narrowed sharply as his phone's screen brightened again.

   Shit.

Maybe it was fine. He made what his peers deemed to be 'sick jokes' all the time, after all. And besides that, he was starting to question Carson's ability to actually read at this point, so what were the odds that he'd even register the message as anything relevant?

Backwards logic and wishful thinking, maybe, but that was the best that such a hazy mindset was going to manage.
