Flurries of snow filled the air, nearly as distracting as the sharp scent of sweet copper that was being wafted around them by the winter's wind. Nearly, but not quite. A stained tongue swept over his lips, partially cleaning the blood from them, partially smearing it even further.

   ❝ You were right. I need to get out of the office more. ❞

Breaking the silence, the comment was colored by a dark laugh that bubbled up from his throat, lips curling into a vicious smile. His fangs glinted brightly in the moonlight, and crimson eyes flickered, taking in the rest of the scene again. A somewhat mangled corpse laid crumbled near an alley's wall  —  several shattered bones, sets of deep puncture wounds on either side of their neck, color drained from their skin. Blood was splattered across the snow, tainting perfect white with splashes of vibrant red.

They'd just fed. His throat still burned a little at the sight.

Fuck, he needed to hunt more often.

Spinning around to properly face the other vampire, that thought, that sensation, was momentarily shoved back down, in favor of snagging Kieran by their waist, tugging them closer. A distracted moment of licking blood from their cheek followed, low purrs rumbling in his chest, before Zachariah partially refocused again.

   ❝ Mmm... Come here, love. ❞

And then he was kissing them, nipping a little harder than necessary to get them to part their lips, a hungry tongue quick to chase the taste of blood from their mouth. Gloved hands squeezed at their hips, pulling them flush against himself.

Scratch that. He needed to take Kieran hunting more often.
