Spiderverse Crossover Ideas Pt 1
Below you are a list of ideas for spider-man: Spider-verse crossovers starring Miles Morales. They mostly involve Miles getting sent to different universes and trying to survive in that world making new friends, being a hero and finding a way home. The good news is he doesn't experience cellular decay like the other spider-people, the bad news is that he slowly starts to lose hope of ever getting home. these story ideas are available for anyone interested in writing them or using their ideas as a base. so here they are.
"SPIDER-MAN OF ANIMA CITY" (Spider-verse x BNA: Brand New Animal) plot: Miles Morales winds up in a world with humans coexist with people that can turn into animals called beastmen. He ends up in anima city a place where beastmen can live free from human prejudice. While in anima city he meets up with Michiru Kagemori a human turned tanuki beastmen. they end up forming a friendship with miles trying to help Michiru become human again and her helping miles get back home. Eventually Spider-man has to step up and help Michiru and wolf-beastman Shirou Ogami save anima city from certain destruction.
"SPIDER-MAN OF NEW MERIDIAN" (Spider-verse x Skullgirls video game) plot: Miles ends up in New Meridian in the skullgirls universe. while trying to find a way home he meets many of the unique skullgirls characters. he even makes friends with characters like Umbrella, peacock, filia, and frees painwheel from Brain Drain's mind-control (using his venom blast). it ultimately leads to a final showdown with the infamous skullgirl. will he use the skullhearts wish to go home? or will the price be to great to pay?
"A SPIDER-MAN OF REMNANT" (Spider-verse x RWBY) plot: Miles Morales ends up in the world of remnant and becomes the unofficial fifth member of team RWBY. there he attends beacon academy to learn about being a hunter (which is the same as being a hero but a different title) and fighting monsters called grimm. Will the world of remnant be changed with Spider-man's Prescence? Will miles get a semblance along with his spider powers? And are any of his spider-friends looking for him?
"ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN MEETS INVINCIBLE" (Spider-verse x Invincible) plot: Miles Morales ends up in a world where there are heroes and villains much stronger than the ones in his dimension. he finds friends in Mark Grayson aka Invincible. When that earths equivalent of the Avengers, are brutally killed by one of their own can Ultimate spider-man step up to be the hero that world needs? or will he be crushed like a bug under Omni-Man's foot
There you have it I hope all you fanfic writers out their find my ideas inspiring.

Finally finished one of my rwby fansong WIPs that I haven't toughed since like October! Can't post it to youtube until I get the lyric video made, but I'm impatient so here's the mp3 for now lol. Bonus points if you recognize the leitmotif I crammed in there
(please do check out the lyric video when I post it later if you like the song though, thank you)
Lyrics: (text version in the alt text on each screenshot)
I ramble about the lyrics bit beneath the cut, if you're curious!
I don't remember how I got the idea when I started writing, but I was imagining the various Oz's each appearing in a big, empty version of the Land of Oz, like specifically the palace (castle? whatever they call it in The Wizard of Oz). Only the current and maybe previous Oz pre-merge are ever in there at one time, but with the memories of every life, before and after their reincarnation, stored there like a library. So just, seeing all the familiar names that aren't yours to be familiar with and having to come to terms with that fact that now YOU'RE one of them too
The first verse is like the death of one of the reincarnations. "Lights out, you go. Only effigy will show the path to day" (they died and go into whatever dark, in-between there is until they get reincarnated, with the light from their own funeral effigy to guide them) "They'd never know, Ne're a eulogy could ever show your fate" (the people at the funeral likely have no idea, considering how secretive Oz usually is, and no eulogy about them resting in peace will ever be accurate).
Originally the line "Just a secret in the hall" was "Hang your photo in the hall" like they have to walk to the end of a long wall of photos to nail their own up in the next space. So not only are they dragged into the cycle but they have to choose to pin their identity up and hope for the best that it isn't forgotten too quickly. The line sounded a bit too off when it was actually sung but I think the sentiment is still there
The reason I hadn't worked on it in so long was because I couldn't figure out how to finish it. I decided to listen again yesterday, thought "Oh hey that also has like Ozymandias vibes a little, which actually fits pretty well" and suddenly that last section just clicked
The whole last section is a bunch of Ozymandias references but I tried to do it in a way that's also very Ozma. The "very sands that once revered your name" now haunting him could be anything from like the sands of time, to Salem herself, his own heroism, etc.. His righteousness (saving Salem from the tower) and his hubris (basically playing god with her after he reincarnated) both doomed him in the same way. And so on
Musically, I wanted it to feel almost zoned out. Just kind of trudging forward, vaguely curious but mostly melancholy. Harmonies got a bit weird at times, so it was a fun challenge trying to figure those out at times. Mixing this was a nightmare but eventually i just went yeah that's good enough and here we are
Sidenote: shoutout to changyuraptor on youtube, both for making very handy leitmotif videos I keep going back to as reference while writing fansongs and also for indirectly making me learn how to spell "changyuraptor" without needing to google it lmao
#i'll post the actual video later once it's made#i haven't pulled an music all-nighter in a while and Do Not feel like spending another hour or two on a lyric video right now lol#rwby#lee speaks#i tried to put a lot of thought into the lyrics and think I covered most of it#but if I didn't mention one and you're curious about it feel free to ask!#or just let me know you're favorite(s)#this felt like one of those songs where I was walking the VERY thin line between poetic and pretentious lol

Meet gen:LOCK
So I know not a ton of people know gen:LOCK, but I absolutely adore this show. We don't talk about Season 2; it doesn't exist. To help facilitate potential interaction with my GL kids, I thought I'd do a quick writeup of them. Note that they do all have RWBY verses because they honestly would fit in that whole world pretty well, but this is just a general sort of rundown.
A quick synopsis of the show itself (pulled from Wikipedia):
"It is set in a dystopian future Earth where an international coalition known as The Polity fights a hostile, autocratic invading force known as The Union. The show follows the gen:LOCK program and its members, who participate in the development and testing of an experimental technology which allows for individuals with unique mental make ups to have their minds uploaded to giant suits of mecha armor called "Holons"."
My crew consists of three of the gen:LOCK team members, the mind behind it, and one of the Vanguard (Polity) soldiers who has been fighting the Union for a while and is helping to train the GL team.
Let's start with the mind behind the technology, Dr. Rufus Weller.
From the gen:LOCK wiki (with some omissions): "Doctor Rufus Weller is a character in gen:LOCK who brought with him "both humor and seriousness". A scientist in the Experimental Science Unit, Weller was the eccentric yet brilliant creator and overseer of the gen:LOCK program, designed to give the Polity an edge in the war against the Union."
He's a scientific genius who created the technology that sets the story in motions, he's calm under pressure, and he can be ruthless when he needs to be.
In his RWBY-verse, he's a top Atlas scientist, working with the likes of Pietro Polendina to develop the most advanced tech in the world. He's currently working on a project that could revolutionize life as we know it, and he hopes it will make a difference in the standard of living in Remnant overall.
Next up, we have Kazu Iida:
From the gen:LOCK wiki: "A rough, unwieldy military operative from Japan, he arrived at the Anvil as part of the Experimental Science Unit's gen:LOCK program alongside Julian Chase and several others, having passed the "Weller Test"."
Previously part of the Japanese military, Kazu's unit was very supportive of having him transferred out to the ESU. He'd been demoted for insubordination, and he can be rough around the edges, but he cares a lot about the people he chooses.
In his RWBY-verse, Kazu grew up in Mistral, no stranger to the city’s vices and virtues. He attended Haven Academy for a time before being kicked out. Eventually, he was recruited to go to Atlas to test the new Holon program as he was one of the people compatible with the technology.
Our next recruit is actually one of the first: Yasamin Madrani
Pulling from the GL wiki once again: "She's a talented and confident recruit from Iran who finds her calling in the Experimental Science Unit's gen:LOCK program. On the other hand, she has been reluctant to reveal her past involvement with the Union to her fellow comrades. [At one point,] Yaz [was] being held and questioned by military police at the Mesa Detainment Center. Meanwhile, Rufus Weller asks Raquel Marin to accept a transfer request that would put her into his custody. This makes her the second gen:LOCK recruit, after Julian Chase. Like Chase, Yaz has military experience, but unlike him and all of the other gen:LOCK pilots, she is a former member of the Union."
Yaz has a dry sense of humour, which she often displays, even while doing her duty without any issues. Because of her past with the Union, she is very sensitive to any suggestion that she might still be working for them in any way, especially given that the Union killed her parents. She is very dedicated to the gen:LOCK program, especially Dr. Weller.
In her RWBY-verse: Born in Vacuo, Yasamin Madrani joined up with a group of bandits when she was young. Eventually, she decided that she had had enough and left, ending up in a city where testing for Dr. Weller’s program was occurring. Without fully realizing what it was, she was selected for the program and taken to Atlas, where she learned to be a pilot and part of the Holon program.
For the last, but certainly not the least of my GL recruits, Val/entina Romanyszyn (listed like this because they are genderfluid and use both "Val" and "Valentina," depending on presentation):
From the wiki again: "They are a retired Russian special forces operator who thought that they were finished fighting. Valentina was involved in special operations in the Eastern European theater before being recruited into the Experimental Science Unit's gen:LOCK program."
Val/entina can be pretty cynical, as expressed when she states that she likes battles she's sure to win. They also believe that the Union will follow its enemies, no matter how far they run. Which is one of the reasons she didn't want to fight on the front line any longer; she only agreed to join the gen:LOCK program because she thought it was a purely scientific endeavour. However, once things really get going, she's deeply loyal to the people she cares about, especially the way they care about the rest of the GL team.
In their RWBY-verse, Val/entina Romanyszyn grew up in Atlas, where they were able to use the region’s advanced tech to enable their transitions as needed. They also chose to attend Atlas Academy, where they quickly proved their prowess as a sniper. Now they’re working occasionally in tandem with the Ace Ops, doing what they can to protect the city and Remnant.
Our last case study for the day is Leon August, voiced by Gray Haddock (who also voiced Roman Torchwick initially):
Once more with feeling, from the wiki, "Lieutenant Leon August is a character in Rooster Teeth's gen:LOCK. He's a Strider pilot and Vanguard squad leader" and also gen:LOCK compatible, though he's too old for the technology to be safe for him.
Leon is able to stay calm and retain his sense of humour in both combat and downtime situations, though he's full capable of relaxing and joking with his friends. However, when he's in the field, he tends to be no-nonsense and very focused on getting the job done, while also making sure to watch out for his allies.
While his RWBY-verse is under construction, it's highly likely that he'll be stationed in Atlas as part of the military, potentially having attended Atlas Academy previously.
So there we have it! A quick and dirty rundown of the non-RWBY characters on this blog. Hopefully this helps!

After the heartache of the Volume 8 finale, I would like to return to a happier point in the show and suggest some memes/jokes that I like to think the students at Beacon would have had. More closely inline with the RWBY Chibi-verse, than the actual show - where Nothing Bad Ever Happened.
"Who's child is this?" being used to refer to Ruby - the youngest student at Beacon - when she's left unsupervised and/or doing something odd.
"I'd let Glynda punish/whip me for one corn chip."
Every now and again "Missing - Have you seen this person?" posters for Professor Peach will pop up around campus. No one knows who it is that keeps making them.
Vomit Boy candids being taken and shared any time Jaune is Suffering™️ on some form of transport.
The Great One plush of Pyrrha exists in-universe... and becomes the go-to prize for any stupid competition between the students. There's at least a dozen of these dolls on campus now, owned by various people and won as "spoils of war."
There's a dedicated chalkboard in the combat room for tallying how many times Nora has launched someone into the stratosphere. Notable mentions are listed on the board alongside her of other people who have achieved this feat - including Yang, Yatsuhashi, and Glynda.
(She launched both Port and Oobleck one day when they kept annoying her. Sometimes, their screams can still be heard if you listen closely enough.)
"There's that old guy again..." "Oh, shopkeep? Yea, he's everywhere. Don't think too much about it."
This leads to "Don't think too much about it." becoming something of a slogan for every time anything unusual happens.
"Candy canes, kids! One for Sun Wukong, one for Yang Xiao-Long, ooh four for Coco Adel, you go Coco!"
"I--"
"Andnoneforweissschneebye~"
Team STRQ having something akin to legend status at Beacon, whispered in hushed voices for fear and reverence of their names. There's a war between the students regarding team JNPR as their successors vs. the students who insist JNPR are not anywhere near worthy of such a title.
"How many team CRDLs does it take to beat Pyrrha?"
Blurry fancam-style videos of the Qrow vs. Winter fight out in the courtyard being traded around like baseball cards with other students. Some try and manufacture a "rematch" of this with the materials they've got - trying to get Ruby and Weiss to fight each other.
That weird sing-song "HellOooOo~" that Yang sometimes does being mimicked by everyone. And I mean everyone.
Any time there's a significant lull in conversations or classes, someone often asks "Why are we here?" which never fails to make everyone in the vicinity groan.
"Ozpin is compensating for something" jokes about his office chair - including at least one popular response being "it's the war crimes", without them knowing just how accurate they actually are.
"On a scale of Ren-Nora, how excited do you want me to be?"
"Ladies Love Lavender" referring to Lisa Lavender having her own in-universe fandom mostly comprised of women. (Lavender being associated with lesbians irl, and I just think this would be funny.)
The sight of Ren just picking up and carrying Nora away from something is so commonplace that other people start doing it to their friends when they Need To Stop.
"Why is Blake's bow so big?" "Because it's full of secrets."
Blake being a closet faunus being such a poorly hidden secret that by the time she finally takes off the bow no one actually even notices.
The betting pool surrounding exactly what it is in Ozpin's cup - coffee being one of the least popular options, and souls being the top choice.
Using Yatsuhasi as a unit of measurement.
Photoshopping adorable images of Velvet onto various "cute" animal memes.
Everyone wanting to be spanked by Coco Adel.
"I'd let Fox blow me up too."
"Why is Weiss' hair so long?" "To reflect the length of her father's crimes."
Everyone mimicking Pyrrha's memetic "I'm sorry!" anytime they apologise for anything. Even going as far to do it while apologising to things that don't require apologies - like inanimate objects.
"Are Port and Oobleck, you know... 💅?"
In fact, just that 💅 being used to refer to a large number of people at Beacon. Actual LGBT students picking this up and using it towards grimm when they're attacked to question the sexuality/homophobia of the grimm targeting them over their peers.
Threatening Neptune with water anytime he flirts with a girl who is clearly Not Interested in him.
No one knowing who, exactly, the other two members of team SSSN are - with wild theories abounding about who they may be. Popular choices include Shopkeep, Zwei, and Professor Peach.
This persists even after their tournament fights where they're shown. Scarlet and Sage are perfectly content with this, and participate.
"Arslan's/Pyrrha's back must be aching from constantly carrying her entire team."
And the respective responses of, "Reese/Nora are alright."
Similar jokes about Glynda also carrying the entire faculty/academy on her back.
"Salutations!"
The war between the "Irondaddy" fanbase, and his haters - who refer to him with various derogatory versions of his name. "Metalpenis", "Coppercock", "Chromeshaft", etc.
Anytime someone is doing something ~questionable~ donning a pair of glasses and/or imitating Oz or Oobleck pushing them back up their nose with accompanying menacing body language. (Kubrick Stare optional.)
Mercury having a foot fetish, courtesy of the people who caught him sniffing shoes at the festival.
"Did <character> just die?" "You know, it was really unclear." any time someone takes some insane damage in a fight and isn't seen for some time afterwards.
Everyone trying to locate and get a pic of the ~mysterious~ fourth member of team CMSN, who has only ever been spotted once - her tournament fight in the first round. Beacon's version of "Where's Wally?"
The Sympathy Fund for Emerald and her one-sided crush on Cinder. "She could honestly do so much better."
People offering themselves up as tribute to spar with Pyrrha/Yang/Coco/Sun just so they can be beaten up by the hottest people on campus.
"I drink milk!" being used as a defensive argument in wildly inappropriate contexts.
Naming grimm really boring names and attempting to keep them as pets.
The innumerous times Port has allowed a "zoo-break" to happen under his watch and everyone having to assist in recovering his prized subjects.
"Where the fuck are all the fourth years?" "Ozpin's soul collection."
Candid shots of Glynda Suffering™️ being shared similarly to the ones of Vomit Boy.
Ranking people based on their Patience Levels - Pyrrha, Ren, Glynda, Emerald, and Fox being frequent top markers based on the bullshit they put up with from their respective teams.
"Saint Pyrrha" being a common nickname for her, and her neverending niceness towards people who absolutely do not not deserve it.
Weiss' "Hey!" being replicated amongst the student body and slowly growing more and more high-pitched in its replication until it eventually just becomes a shrill noise. Even so, everyone still knows what it means - and Weiss is absolutely unamused by all of this.
In fact, a lot of early!Weiss' comments being mercilessly mocked by everyone - "I'm a victim!" being one of them.
Renowned fear permitting amongst the student body regarding Yang's red eyes meaning Serious Business. Morphs into references of "going full Yang" to mean having rage-fuelled temper tantrums.
"Never miss a beat, never miss a beat" becoming a mantra for focusing on a task. This inspires several remixes of Neon saying it, and again with no one knowing who it is making them.
By all means, feel free to add any more that you all think of! I could use a laugh!
Also, check the notes for additions!

Listen Luna as Weiss in your Noctscar verse is something I never thought I want to see. It also make the whole team RWBY dynamic a whole lot difference since Ruby doesn't have to prove her worth as a leader to Weiss like in canon (or did you make the team leader change?) Blake probably didn't know what to do with Weiss image different than she thought and Yang? Something told me Yang big sister instinct just told her this is someone she need to dote and care about and - (1/2)
Anonymous said:
- do it anyway despite being the same age. What did Luna feel becoming a team with the rest of RBY? Did having a friend of her own age help Luna? I always feel that both Luna and Weiss in each canon is someone who not familiar with casual touch of affection (that something Yang and Ruby probably pick up and keep doing it) and the sense of closeness without any expectation (of being the Oracle, the Schnee Heir). Sorry if the ask seem incoherent since well, *wave around* Luna as Weiss.
Me: >:3c LUNA AS WEISS YES. And I never knew I needed it either but here I am and I’m taking you all down with me.
Yes, the dynamic is different here, because Ruby is still the leader, but Weiss has no interest in challenging for the position. Ruby does still feel like she has to prove herself a bit, because her partner is so calm and mature and “cool”. WeissLuna just wants Ruby to calm down and take this seriously, but not run herself in circles over it.
Blake has no idea what to do with Weiss no. At first she thought Weiss was snobby and aloof, because Luna is quiet and reserved and Blake came in with negative biases and expectations. But as they start training together Weiss is just- so sweet? So quiet and calm and *gentle* and it confuses Blake a lot. And then the White Fang thing comes up and Weiss seemingly plays into expectations for the first time by being openly disdainful of them.
But the thing is- it’s not because Luna hates Faunus or thinks that nothing is wrong. She knows exactly what her father has done to the workers of the company, she knows all about the Faunus Issues plaguing Altas and other countries. And she knows that the current White Fang, the violent White Fang are not helping. All they do is give Jaques all the ammo he needs to convince the Stockholders to let him treat the workers even WORSE. All they do is make the little people too scared to speak against Faunus, true, but also very dead set against HELPING them. Because why help someone who you believe already hates you and wants you dead and will likely KILL YOU as soon as your back is turned?
The current White Fang have done more to destroy the good relations between the average Faunus and their neighbor than Jaques Schnee could ever dream of and Luna despises them for it. But Blake doesn’t stick around to hear that part, she and Luna get into a fight about White Fang and before Luna can explain herself Blake blurts out the Faunus Thing and then runs off. They do talk about it later tho. Once they’ve tracked her down and Luna has firmly stated that Blake didn’t have to run off again good grief she’s not going to treat her teammate any differently just because she finally stopped wearing a stupid bow over her ears.
Blake: Wait ... you knew?
Luna, dryly: Blake, your bow *moves* and you wear it even when you sleep. I’m a Schnee. Not blind.
Yang absolutely latches onto Weiss as a new baby sibling. It’s just INSTINCT. It takes Yang longer to realize why it’s instinct, and to conclude that Weiss is ... depressed. Possibly dangerously so. Yang is actually incorrect but it’s not an illogical assumption when one takes into account her quiet, too-mature nature, her touch starvation, and her eerie and total acceptance of the possibility of her own death, to the point of putting herself in harm’s way to keep the others safe.
Because Luna spent a lifetime knowing that she was going to die for her duty, then DID die for her duty, and that acceptance has followed her over into being a Huntress and when people realize she has it they get Very Concerned. Because she’s seventeen, she shouldn’t be this peaceful over the concept of dying.
So Yang absolutely Big Sister adopts her. Luna is so confused. Because both her big siblings (Ravus and then Winter) are ... Not Like Yang at all. But as time goes on she comes to really appreciate it.
Hmmmm Luna is fairly calm about her team? She’s pleased it’s an all girl team, and Ruby and Yang seem nice, and she’s fairly sure Blake will be a good teammate as well even if she’s hiding her Faunus trait under a bow for some reason. She isn’t entirely sure what Ozpin was thinking, choosing Ruby as the leader, but Luna is glad he didn’t pick her so she’s not going to complain.
She is going to ensure these children don’t get themselves killed though.
Basically, Luna is the team Braincell even if she’s not team leader, she and Blake work out their issues, and her team become steadily more and more protective of Weiss as they realize she is mentally not the healthiest. They don’t have the words for it really, because they’re only teenagers but just- they know that Weiss is not normal. That she’s too quiet and too mature and sometimes she looks at the world with this vague expression that makes it seem like she doesn’t think she has a place in it. And she’s always caring for them, but not so much herself. She has nightmares that leave her gasping, but when asked she tries to brush them off. She is devastatingly good with her rapier, but eventually they learn that what she really wanted was a trident, but her father deemed it “unbecoming” and wouldn’t hear of it. That she has a sister she does not trust and a little brother she feels the need to care for, yet somehow in any plans or opinions she airs, she never factors *herself* into them beyond what she can do for others.
“It’s like she doesn’t even realize she needs to be happy too,” Blake mutters one day and then the trio stare at each other like it’s a holy revelation.
Luna isn’t sure why Ruby spends the next two days hugging her whenever possible and asking for her opinion on *everything*. Or why Yang keeps draping an arm on her shoulder, or why Blake even offered to share her *books*. Is everything alright you three? Do you need something?
Team RBY: Oh my word just *let us love you, you utter disaster sibling*.
Also as a side note, Luna and Ren get along like a zen garden.

How I would do RWBY pt. 5
Season Five.
Lingering drama amongst teams despite stable exterior.
Everyone’s a little wary of Blake on account of her cutting and running on them a couple seasons ago.
Everyone’s a little wary of Ruby and her insane berserker moment against Cinder.
Everyone’s a little wary of Yang and her being a bit of a dick recently.
Everyone’s a little wary of Weiss being a little emotionally fragile at this whole experience.
JNR is wary in general on the grounds that they didn’t sign up for this level of shit.
Everyone’s a little frazzled in general on account of recent events.
Qrow is giving them the rundown on Salem and Ozpin as far as he’s aware.
Says that they’re ancient demi-gods that have been fighting each other since before history.
He only knows so much because Ozpin is pretty tightlipped about his past and only gives certain individuals certain amounts of information.
Speaking of, Ozpin is there to greet them at Haven.
And teams CFVY and SSSN, leading to a happy reunion.
Haven headmaster is indisposed and can’t be present. (He’s on the phone with Salem)
Ozpin gives the skinny on what they know of Salem’s plan.
The exact plan still eludes them.
What they do know is that she has the remnants of the White Fang that follow Adam with the greater White Fang being uninvolved, a loose cabal of personal agents here and there, and literally countless grimm to bring to bear.
Easy odds, as far as they’re concerned.
They also tell him that Cinder has been beaten.
He doesn’t really care, seeing her as just another dime a dozen assassin.
He happier about Tyrian (Salem’s only truly competent assassin) being dead than anything about Cinder.
Ruby is quick to also say that being dropped down a pit doesn’t necessarily mean Cinder’s dead and if she shows up she gets first dibs.
Speaking of, Cinder is quite alive.
She is quickly found by Emerald and Mercury.
Cinder is wounded, but still powerful enough to kill the both of them should they piss her off.
Brief recovery period.
Discover that Salem isn’t returning her calls.
Salem’s decided that she’s gotten all she can out of Cinder and that she’s not worth further investment.
She can find another urchin, creep, or psycho to mold.
Brief moment of heartbreak is capped off with new plan to regain Salem’s favor.
Emerald and Mercury try to offer other options but eventually agree to come along because they have fuck all for other opportunities.
Get to Mistral and seek help of local crime boss for passage to Atlas to go about evil business there.
Crime boss restrains Emerald and Mercury.
Reveals that Neo already purchased their services.
Neo is angry at Cinder. Blames her for Roman’s death.
Cinder and Neo fight, Cinder wins, and shifts the blame of Roman to Ruby.
Neo acquiesces and teams up with Cinder and co. for revenge on Ruby. (Team CEMN for the win)
First act of new team is to kill local crime boss for trying to dupe 3/4 of them and steal their shit.
Neo just shrugs. No honor among thieves. They overcharged her anyway.
Set off for Atlas to cause problems on purpose to regain Salem’s attention.
RWBY + JNR take a well-earned moment of respite.
Catch up with CFVY and SSSN, fill them in on what’s been happening.
Ruby tries to bridge gaps by returning to being the designated weapon repairwoman.
Grills everyone for not taking better care of their shit.
Because how hard is it to do basic maintenance people?
Given downtime is able to upgrade Jaune’s sword + shield.
Sword has cooler design and shield can produce bubble shield effect now.
Ozpin takes RWBY and JNR aside to ask them to join his inner council.
He would have done it earlier but he was waiting to see if Ruby’s second semblance would ever awaken.
When they agree he elaborates further on Qrow’s earlier explanation.
He’s a great big windbag so he just info dumps everything (that they need to know) on them at once.
Explains that he is opposing demi-god to Salem. A deity of order and building as opposed to destruction and chaos.
Explains that he and Salem were created from on the whims of an ancient god of creation to guide the free peoples of the world and keep them all safe and sound.
Creator god fucked off after making the two of them on the grounds that it is explicitly a creator god not god of anything else.
It made the world. Caring for it is somebody else’s problem.
He and Salem disagreed as to how best to help people.
Salem thought that growth through conflict was the way to go and Ozpin thought that being the guiding hand from behind the scenes would work the best.
It eventually devolved into just trying to kill the other for getting in the way of each other’s plans.
Salem’s goal is to remove Ozpin from the equation and let people build and thrive in the natural way with a disaster, war, or genocide or two every now and then to keep them on their toes.
She’s basically the big evil boogeyman of the world.
Ozpin’s goal is to remove Salem on the grounds that he feels that the best thing he can do to keep order is not to allow said disasters, wars, or genocides and keep people alive for his later plans.
Either can only be killed by direct action of the other.
They keep themselves separate and ideally safe from each other.
Salem has been trying to find workaround for this for ages.
Salem created the grimm as a means of keeping humanity on its toes, fed by negative emotion in an attempt of dissuading such feelings.
They failed both at that and as a means to permanently kill Ozpin, but she now had an army for the rest of her plans.
Ozpin responded by creating and seeding the world with dust, giving the people a means to fight against the darkness surrounding them.
He never puts himself in the direct spotlight of history. Always the vizier, never the king.
Dust also had the side effect of eventually irradiating humanity and giving them aura and, furthermore, semblances.
These newly powered people, when dead and buried, eventually fossilize into more dust.
Most dust mines are ancient burial grounds. Creepy ain’t it?
Ozpin tried to capitalize on his success and tried to create super-soldiers to use said dust, aura, and semblances to protect humanity by combining human and animal traits.
Yep, Ozpin created the ancient faunus.
That and racism is indirectly his fault too.
He made the original faunus to be overseers and guardians to humanity.
In essence, they were designed to be feudal warlords with extra animal abilities that secretly answered only to him and ruled humans with iron fists.
Resulting human rebellions happened and Ozpin used his creations as scapegoats, letting them take all the blame and quietly …quieting anyone who knew the truth.
And that’s where the racism first came from. It has long since changed and muddied, but that was the initial reason.
He words all of this nicer and glides over the parts that make him look bad.
Salem and Ozpin have been picking at each other like that for eons.
Fall of Beacon only happened to try and distract Ozpin long enough for the latest scheme to kill him to be tried.
Destroying his pet project school was just a bonus.
Suffice it to say that that particular plan failed its main objective but still caused everything to fall apart.
Salem is now officially persona non grata, if she wasn’t already, among those present to the explanation.
Adam is trying to get more support from Sienna.
He has a small band of hardliners (psychos) with him but wants more bodies for his plans.
Gives big speech about faunus supremacy and the like.
Sienna tells him to fuck off, points out that he’s just repeating platitudes and doesn’t really care about the cause.
Reiterates his excommunication, citing working with Torchwick and Salem (despite the fact that she was cool with it at the time) as well as getting an unignorably large amount of his own people killed.
Collateral damage only goes so far, even for terrorists.
Adam vs Sienna.
Sienna wins and Adam slinks away, defeated but alive.
Adam’s hardliners get some more members but nowhere near what he wanted.
He’ll have to make do.
Salem wants him to do as terrorists do across Mistral.
Adam suggest that since Fall of Beacon worked fairly well… second verse same as the first?
Salem puts the kibosh on that plan.
She wants people to learn and thrive in a semi-natural way, she doesn’t want to just wipe them all out.
She’s fine with a little culling now and then but too much killing and they’ll never recover right.
Has new plan to try and kill Ozpin.
Has resurrected Tyrian, making a faunus/grimm Frankenstein thingy that she can directly possess at will.
All she needs is an opportunity to infiltrate him into Mistral.
Adam’s job is to provide an exploitable distraction.
He’s okay with that.
Yang has argument with Blake about running off like a punk.
Blake says it won’t happen again.
Yang says once bitten twice shy.
Ruby talks to Blake about Raven and Tai and the abandonment issues Yang has as a result of them both.
Meeting Raven and realizing that she was just a piece of shit this whole time only made things worse.
Says that Blake leaving like she did didn’t help.
Ruby also admits that her own leaving probably wasn’t great either.
Ruby wants her to know that she has faith in her but Yang has always needed a little more than faith.
Weiss airs some grievances to Yang about her dickish behavior.
Yang apologizes for her churlishness and reassures Weiss that the team is still going to be together but she is still mad at Blake.
Weiss tries to help smooth things over further but is interrupted.
Ilia shows up, is met with gun barrels.
Says she was sent by Sienna to take care of Adam, avoiding getting slotted by everyone.
Is kept at arm’s length but if she’s helping then, sure fine whatever, she can help.
Coco, Yatsuhashi, Weiss, and Ren try to talk to Ruby about not going crazy the next time she sees Cinder.
The best they can do is get her to agree that being so out of control insane while fighting her might not be the best way to fight.
They try and say that that’s really not good enough.
Ruby changes the subject via some odd noises she hears.
Haven headmaster (Lionheart? I barely know, or give much of a shit about, canon at this point) is part of The Cabal and is giving regular reports to Salem.
How else could CEMN masquerade as Haven students?
Almost gets walked in on.
Cheeses it but leaves the grimm thing that lets him talk to Salem.
Ruby has brief conversation with Salem.
Salem tries to tempt her, says that Ozpin is an asshole that only wants to control people not help them.
Ruby calls her a bitch.
Cites that Salem ruined her life and got some of her friends killed for this crap, not to mention her fucking mother.
Salem is just listening, still stunned from the audacity of being called a bitch right to her face.
Ruby finishes off by saying that even if Ozpin is an asshole, better the devil you know.
She then kills the grimm.
People now know there’s a turncoat and the only absolute they have is that it’s not Ruby or Ozpin (duh).
Everyone walking on eggshells, not sure who the traitor is.
Accusations are thrown around.
Eventually, after some shouting, everyone comes to the conclusion that it’s also not WBY, JNR, CFVY, or Qrow.
Logic starts to work its magic.
Lionheart tries to calm everyone down, IE: distract everyone from the growingly obvious.
Adam is up to his old tricks.
Blake and Ilia notice and point it out.
Lionheart breathes a sigh of relief as RWBY and JNR mobilize to stop Adam.
Adam is just a distraction.
Tyrian is slipped into the city via some bribes and carefully placed murders.
Adam has placed bombs across the city and broadcasts to the city that they’re doomed.
The civilians start to panic and draw grimm.
Mistral defense force is now busy dealing with said grimm.
Team splits up to stop the bombs.
Tyrian makes his move, attacks Ozpin directly.
Salem assumes direct control, hoping that this will count as her killing Ozpin herself.
SSSN and CFVY pop up and fight Tyrian!Salem.
Start getting their shit kicked in because it’s a fucking demi-goddess in a crazy scorpion demon body.
JNR returns.
Qrow finally does something too.
Ozpin even gets off his lazy ass.
Everyone helps take on Tyrian!Salem and win, killing Tyrian for good and pissing off Salem.
Ozpin got killed again to do it. (He’ll be back)
Blake and Yang find Adam.
Fight him, beat him, he runs away, we know how this song and dance goes.
Blake chases him alone.
Says that she has realized that Adam had been trying to commit suicide by anti-terrorism for a while.
Adam gets enraged and fights Blake again.
Adam final boss fight.
Blake starts winning.
Adam goes beyond the brink of madness.
In his anger he manages to destroy Blake’s weapon.
About to kill Blake but sees a little trinket he gave her when they were kids.
Sees his own reflection and sees a monster where he should be standing.
Realizes his own sense of self-destruction.
“I must already be dead,” –Vlad Dracula Tepes. It applies, says I.
Blake puts Adam down.
Yang arrives, worried that Blake ran off… again.
Blake has completely broken down.
Yang comforts Blake, who just had to kill one of her oldest friends.
Bombs and terrorists are dealt with.
RW see Blake is having troubles and embraces her along with Yang.
Blake, with tears in her eyes, swears to never abandon her team and friends ever again.
RWBY comes together and all vow to be there for each other.
Team RWBY are truly together once again.
Ruby uses parts from Adam’s weapon to repair and upgrade Blake’s.
Ozpin gets back up. (What I tell ya?)
Lionheart is found out as the traitor and calls everyone chicken shit for siding with Ozpin.
Says that Ozpin is a paranoid control freak who would strip them of all free will and thought if he could.
In fact, he says that that exact thing is Ozpin’s plan once Salem is beaten.
Salem at least promised freedom.
Ozpin doesn’t exactly deny these accusations by promptly and rather brutally executing Lionheart.
Reactions are cut short when a news bulletin plays on the TV about problems in Atlas.
WF-SDC war has officially stopped being a shadow war and there is now open combat in the streets.
They catch a very brief shot on the telly of something that looks a lot like a grimm arm on some chick.
Ruby has reacquired target-lock.
RWBY and JNR set off once again, this time for Atlas.
Season five done.

Ruby: Geniuses, lower your voices. You keep out of trouble and you double your choices. I’m with you, but the situation is fraught. You’ve got to be carefully taught: if you talk your gonna get shot!
Jaune: Ruby, check what we got. Mister Lie Ren, hard rock like Lancelot I think your pants look hot. Weiss I like you a lot let’s hatch a plot blacker than the kettle callin’ the pot.
Jaune: What are the odds the gods would put us all in one spot. Poppin’ a squat on conventional wisdom, like it or not. A bunch of revolutionary manumission abolitionists? Give me a position, show me where the ammunition is!
Jaune: Oh, am I talking’ too loud? Sometimes I get overexcited, shout off at the mouth. I never had a group of friends before. I Promise that I’ll make y’all proud.
Weiss: Let’s get this guy in front of a crowd!

Citizens: Whoa!
Weiss/citizens: When are these colonies gonna rise up?
Citizens: Whoa!
Weiss/Citizens: When are these colonies gonna rise up? Rise up!
Jaune: I imagine death so much that it feels more like a memory. When’s it gonna get me? In my sleep? Seven feet ahead of me? If I see it comin’, do I run or do I let it be? Is it like a beat without a melody?
Jaune: See I never thought I’d live past twenty. Where I come from some get half as many. Ask anybody why we livin’ fast and we laugh, reach for a flask. We have to make this moment last, that’s plenty.
Jaune: Scratch that, this is not a moment, it’s the movement where all the hungriest brothers with something to prove went? Foes oppose us, we take an honest stand we roll like Moses, claimin’ our promised land.
Jaune: And? If we win our independence? Is that a guarantee of freedom for our descendants? Or will the blood we shed begin an endless cycle of vengeance and death with no defendant?
Jaune: I know the action in the street is excitin’ but Jesus, between all the bleedin’ and fightin’ I’ve been readin’ ‘n writin’ we need to handle our financial situation. Are we a nation of states? What’s the state of our nation?
Jaune: I’m past patiently waitin’. I’m passionately smashin’ every expectation every action’s an act of creation. I’m laughin’ in the face of casualties and sorrow. For the first time, I’m thinkin’ past tomorrow!
Jaune/Citizens: And I am not throwing away my shot! I am not throwing away my shot! Hey yo I’m just like my country I’m young, scrappy, and hungry and I’m not throwing away my shot!
Jaune/Ren/Nora/Weiss: We’re gonna rise up! Time to take a shot! We’re gonna rise up! Time to take a shot!

Since @im-the-king-of-the-ocean did a post about what TMA fear entities the RWBY characters are aligned/avatars of, I’ve been itching to do one myself because as a result of overlapping hyper fixations I think about this A LOT
The basic concept is that avatars in TMA become what they fear most or embrace a fear they have developed the most complex relationship with that plays into their motivations and drive as a character. What negative impulses they have to constantly fight themselves on, the shape of the monster that lives in their heart.
To quote the RWBY song Fear, “But our greatest fear will be realised, if we fall and lose ourselves to fear, we’ll become what we’ve feared all our lives” yeah that’s a very loose definition of what becoming an avatar is.
Since MAG s5 has proven that you can be an avatar of more than one fear, (Like Martin serving both the Eye and the Lonely) some of the RWBY characters might have more than one, but I’ll try to limit it to two to avoid getting complicated, but at the end of the day it’s all fear soup, we might categorise them according to Robert Smirke’s 14, but they all bleed into one another, like Gerard’s colour analogy in 111:
GERARD
I always think it helps to imagine them like colours. The edges bleed together, and you can talk about little differences: “oh, that’s indigo, that’s more lilac”, but they’re both purple. I mean, I guess there are technically infinite colours, but you group them together into a few big ones. A lot of it’s kind of arbitrary. I mean, why are navy blue and sky blue both called blue, when pink’s an entirely different colour from red? Y’know? I don’t know, that’s just how it works.
And like colours, some of these powers, they feed into or balance each other. Some really clash, and you just can’t put them together. I mean, you could see them all as just one thing, I guess, but it would be pretty much meaningless, y’know, like… like trying to describe a… shirt by talking about the concept of colour.
O-Of course, with these things it’s not a simple spectrum, y’know, it’s more like –
ARCHIVIST
An infinite amorphous blob of terror bleeding out in every direction at once.
GERARD
Now you’re getting it.
ARCHIVIST
Like colours, but if colours hated me. Got it.
Ruby Rose: The End. The fear of death itself, uncaring and unstoppable. Man this was hard to think about but I have a lot of Big Feelings about this one. Initially I really, really wanted to give Ruby the Eye simply because “can laser beam monsters with their eyeballs once they become powerful enough” and there is a fascinating overlap in how the Beholding powers and Silver Eyes function in the same way, (especially in how Cinder being exposed to the Silver Eyes fills her with an overpowering fear and reopens old wounds from trauma that have never properly healed; which is VERY similar in the psychological affect Jon’s has on his victims when he Beholds them) they’re both direct enemies/opposites to the Dark that expose their enemies/victims true nature and destroying them in the process at times. Only one feeds on fear and the trauma of others while the other feeds off of hope and love (Gerard says there’s no such thing as an avatar of hope and love, clearly he’s never heard of Ruby).
But nope! The fear and nature of the Beholding just doesn’t really match with Ruby at all. She isn’t driven by a need of knowledge, nor does she fear being watched, followed or having her secrets exposed. The End though? Death itself? Ruby outright states that’s her biggest fear in volume 5 to Oscar “It doesn’t matter if you’re standing in Salem’s way or not. She’ll kill anyone. And that, scares me most of all” to me Ruby’s fear of death itself is projected onto Salem here, I think. It’s uncaring, unstoppable, it doesn’t discriminate, and it could come for the people she cares about at any time. What matters though is the context she says this is in explaining her motives to Oscar. Her whole life has been shaped by her inability to process death, her relationship with grief, all starting with the tragic and abrupt death of her mother Summer as a child. She’s also surrounded by a lot of death motif too, the hooded cape, mostly wearing black, the giant grim reaper scythe. She’s the End.
Of course, her being an Avatar of the End means having to imagine the worst version of Ruby, one that is fully consumed by that fear. Avatars of the End are not malicious or destructive in nature but instead are… very apathetic. They don’t need to seek out victims to feed off of, nor do they have a ritual, because the End comes for all. And that fits with what Ruby would be like if that fear fully consumed her. It’s more or less established in vol6 during the apathy arc when she tries so hard to fight against their influence and how horrified she is when everyone around her falls prey to it. Giving up, not caring, accepting the inevitable demise of everyone and yourself? Ruby was terrified of that. And when looking at the vol8 opening where we see Ruby being dragged down by what looks like the arms of the apathy? She fights the hardest against it because it’s what she’s most afraid of, but because of her inability to process her grief properly is ultimately what will make her the most vulnerable to it when she’s pushed to her limit. All Salem needs to do to break Ruby is to remind her of Summer’s death. Not even what actually happened to her or how she died, just the death itself. Hell, the first time we see Ruby in the Red trailer, she’s at her mother’s grave, the first verse in Red like Roses that’s about Ruby “Red like Roses fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest” in which we come to understand that the “Red like roses” lyrics in both part one and two of the song is referring to Summer’s abrupt death which Ruby apparently dreams about, which brings to mind Oliver Banks, our most prominent Avatar of the End, whose first statement to The Magnus Institute in 011 (underneath the fake alias of “Antonio Blake”) is concerning how he started dreaming about the deaths of others, which he didn’t begin to take seriously- until it was his father that he saw in his dream. Upon which Oliver realised how terrifying death really was and that fear began to consume him.
Okay I’ve probably gone off long enough about this but yeah. Ruby is the End. I mean, she also just got a song in the v7 soundtrack called Until the End
Weiss Schnee: The Lonely. The fear of isolation, of being completely cut off and alone or disconnected from the rest of society. I don’t really have to go too deeply into this one. It’s pretty cut and dry. “The loneliest of all”? And the Schnees basically are the Lukas family. Actually thinking about it the Lukas’ are actually somewhat better? They were the only ones in the whole of TMA that understood to raise a child to be an heir/avatar of their fear they needed room to reject it or actively choose it, even if that had an 80% success rate. Both are still awful though. (Damn, I can’t believe Jaques is an actively worse parent than an eldritch fear avatar)
When Weiss comes back to Atlas in v4 she’s more aware of her loneliness than ever, feels more aware of how she and atlas high society as a whole is disconnected from the rest of the world and its struggles. Whitley commenting on her being in her room for months implies she’s purposefully been isolating herself during this time as well, in order to avoid her family members “A pleasure to see you out of your room for a change” (sidenote; the fact that whenever Whitley shows up it always catches Weiss off guard, like she didn’t even notice his presence until he wanted her too. That’s. That’s a BIG Lonely thing. Given Peter’s siblings eventually ran away and he was the only heir I can imagine Peter being what Whitley would end up like if no one intervenes)
I’d say they might also be an possibility of the Stranger due to her struggling to find her own identity and inability to recognise oneself, but that can be an aspect of the Lonely too, as we see when Martin is in a house that is a domain of the Lonely in s5, and is unable to recognise himself in the mirror or recall who he is.
What I do have to say about this is it’s pretty interesting considering at this point in the show Weiss’ relationship with loneliness is actually somewhat healthy and something she can use to relate to and help others. She understands other people’s loneliness, that Blake in v5 needed space and in time she’d come back, and Weiss would be ready to be there for her when she did. And she also understands Yang’s loneliness in the same volume and that she needed someone there to support her.
“But you’re right. I don’t know loneliness like you do. I have my own version. And I bet Blake has her own version too.”
Speaking of Blake…
Blake Belladonna: The Stranger, I Do Not Know You. The fear that you cannot trust the perception of yourself or of others. The creeping sense that something isn’t right. I considered the Spiral, but the Stranger and the Spiral overlap more than any other two entities so I’m just gonna go with the Stranger. Especially with her semblance being a metaphor for disassociation, a coping mechanism for the abuse and gaslighting from her relationship with Adam being kind of the biggest thing here, since the Stranger and Spiral deal with that a lot. She literally creates false copies of herself, shadow clones which she uses to feint, distract and evade. As well as statues/mannequins when dust is involved, which the Stranger is known for manifesting. Her fighting style centres around misdirection, stealth and fooling people’s senses. She also used to be part of the White Fang, known within Sienna and Adam’s faction to wear the masks of monsters, appearing anonymous. And she literally disguises her identity as a Faunus in order to escape the White Fang and enroll at Beacon. Blake at first was hesitant to trust and rely on the others in the earlier volumes, to let her guard down, and when she finally did, the worst happened and her fears were proven right. In s2 Jonathan becomes more paranoid due to being marked and in close daily proximity to the Stranger (as Not-Sasha), much like how Blake in v2 becomes far more paranoid and less trusting of her team. She also does seek knowledge or answers even at the cost of her wellbeing, which is an Eye thing, but Blake’s desire for knowledge and answers isn’t really consistent or important enough with her character and motives beyond vol2 for me personally to consider her an Avatar of it, but I do think she is Eye aligned.
Yang Xiao Long- The Eye. The Ceaseless Watcher, It Knows You, as well as The Hunt. For the Eye, the first time we see Yang is her trying to find information on her mother, and we see Raven in bird form at the beginning too, as she has followed Yang her whole life, never actually interacting or doing anything for her, just… watching her. We learn in vol2 that her search for answers surrounding her mother has been a part of her entire life, almost overwhelmingly so to the point where in her childhood she and Ruby nearly lost their lives to the Grimm when she decided to journey to a shack in the woods she thought would lead to clues in finding her mother. She is adamant because of that experience to never let her need for the truth and answers control her, but it is a need that is always there. When she finally meets Raven, she’s encouraged to “start questioning everything she knows” which, she does. Questioning and knowledge is a big part of Yang’s character, even now. She’s the one who questions Ozpin the most, as well as Raven herself, and in the recent volumes is the one who challenges and questions Ruby’s leadership the most. There’s also a moment in vol7 of her drawing parallels between herself and Robyn and relating to her when she says “I won’t stop until I find out the truth” Her being the one to take the relic of knowledge is hugely significant in this too, especially given the context that she acquires it right after confronting her mother, getting the answers she’s searched for her whole life, holding an artefact possessing infinite knowledge, and she sinks to her knees and cries because there is no sense of closure, that anything is better because of her knowing who and what her mother is, and that her choosing this path might have cost her ever having a relationship with Raven (which is more Raven’s fault of course, and Yang knows that, but that’s not how she’s feeling at that exact moment).
For the Hunt, this one’s a bit simpler. The thrill seeker aspect to Yang’s character and motives in becoming a huntress and enjoying the chase and fighting in of itself. There’s another element in that as most Avatars of the Hunt start out as monster hunters who then develop the need to hunt and kill monsters, and gradually what qualifies as “monster” starts to blur more and more as they become consumed by the need and thrill of the chase and hunt itself. I bring this up because in vol3 Blake draws parallels between Yang and Adam after she is disqualified for attacking and injuring Mercury, worries with how familiar this all feels and that Yang might turn out the same as him (and just for the record Adam is a full blown Avatar of the Hunt, and the Slaughter too most like)
“I had someone very dear to me change. It wasn’t in an instant, it was gradual. Little choices that began to pile up. He told me not to worry. At first they were accidents, then it was self-defence. Before long, even I began to think he was right. This is all just… very familiar.” What Blake describes is… kind of similar to Basira’s relationship with Daisy with how Daisy, an Avatar of the Hunt, would justify to Basira and explain away how the violence and murders she committed as being for the greater good.
Also just one more, because I have to
Pyrrha Nikos: WebwebWEBWEB. Hoo boi Pyrrha is the Webbiest of Web Avatars as they come. Her whole character’s themes surrounding destiny, control and agency, feeling like her whole life had been decided for her, the fact she’d been blessed with incredible talents and opportunities meant she was supposed to be a huntress, the fact her talent as a world champion meant she was placed on a pedestal without her realising, becoming separate from the people who placed her there in the first place, that Ozpin and his inner circle tell her she has been chosen as the next Fall Maiden, but the method in which she must become so might result in the loss of her identity, that though they ultimately leave the choice to her do pressure and manipulate her into it. The idea of destiny being a predetermined fate you can’t escape is Pyrrha’s greatest fear, and rejects that idea in that she will not let her life be manipulated but will be the one to take control it instead, which is manifested in her having a semblance that she uses to subtly control and manipulate her surroundings. As Cinder puts it, “People assume she’s fated for victory when really she’s really taken fate into her own hands”.

blakeworther- I personally I love your hc’s so much- any au’s or anything ya got for them? I really wanna know more about what goes on.
This was once again a BAD QUESTION TO ASK
Aside from the Skyward Sword AU, which I never went back to again, there’s only one AU that I like for Blakeworther, which is the AU that I like for everything ever. I’m not even sure I consider it a true AU, even though it absolutely is. So, okay, I have this thing called the WHAM ARMY, which is a massive crossover group of my favorite villains (led by the eight who make up the acronym but this ain’t about them). Obviously, because Victor, Vincent, and Albert are all pretty firmly villains (even if they lean “those weird morally bereft people we end up being friends with somehow”), I want them to join the WHAM ARMY. So my thoughts for them here are pretty much how they’d react in a multicrossover setting, which of my other villain loves they’d get along with, and what the intro arc is for them. Keep in mind I haven’t gotten here in the fanfic yet, so some of this could change in practice, but here are my plans right now.
Cringe ahead.
-They aren’t the originals. I want to make something that doesn’t trip over canon’s current trajectory, even though I don’t know exactly where canon is going, so what happens is that Vexen (Kingdom Hearts) is going to rebuild the three of them as replicas, since he can easily find memory cores for Victor and Vincent in Myers’ storage rooms and there’s just going to be an Albert core there for no reason.
-Vexen then pulls some Chain of Memories magic and restricts the memories they have access to. They will only remember things we have literally seen in VTSOM/TWDAK, and then I can have him release more of their memory banks to them as we get more chapters. (Even if they all three get redemption arcs, my replica versions can stay little shits!)
-He DOES NOT tell them that they’re not the originals! For all they know, they fell asleep at the last day they remember and woke up here. But they figure it out on their own despite his best efforts. They still want to get their memories back anyway so they know what the people they were replicated from were like and have a framework to build their personalities from.
-Yes, of course they’re cyborgs! Cyborg replicas. Since they’re operating by KH rules, they prooooobably don’t need to eat human meat? But also I like when villains do fucked-up things and I have jokes about the others packaging “cyborg chow” to embarrass them so maybe they still do engage in a little cannibalism, as a treat
-Each was engineered with a different specialty. Vincent’s is raw physical strength; he can walk into a gunfight without even needing a weapon and still have a chance of winning. Victor’s arms have been upgraded to hold a variety of cannons; he’s the team sniper. Albert is the team “mage”; he can conjure Dream Eaters. In this AU, TWDAK Dream Eaters and KH Dream Eaters are basically the same thing. Albert has mastered a strange art of being able to draw Dream Pieces out of the Realm of Sleep and implant them in physical forms of creatures in the waking world, creating his army. They look like they do because he hates the pastel aesthetic of KH Dream Eaters and redesigned his personal ones to look more fitting with his aesthetic. He’s also a speedster.
-The intro mission involves Vexen attempting to track down a newly-rebuilt Xion (this AU is divergent from KHIII) in Radiant Garden so he can bring her back under his control with some brainwashing. I’m also bringing in the Tsviets as past experiments of Vexen’s, so he’s basically pitting his newer models of experiment against his old ones.
-The party he already has built by this point is going to be Demyx, Simon Laurent (Infinity Train), Tsumugi Shirogane (DanganRonpa), skekSil (The Dark Crystal), and a couple other people I haven’t hinted at instory yet and don’t quite want to spoil. But Simon, Tsumugi, and skekSil will all also be Vexen’s creations - Simon and skekSil are replicas and Tsumugi is an android.
-Vincent, Victor, and Albert wake up for the first time, and while Vincent and Victor remember each other as friends, they’re just like “And why is our nemesis from RMU also here?”
-Albert probably fights with Vincent for dominance of the trio and I’m not sure which one of them is the trio leader at this point.
-I moved Nine Bean Hill from World of Final Fantasy to Radiant Garden because Radiant Garden needs a coffee shop and first of all, thanks to Hunger Games Simulator fuckery, my friends and I have an in-joke about Vincent Edgeworth having an eternal grudge against Dunkacino, so I’m going to use the coffee shop to reference this somehow without having to put actual Corporate Brainwashed Al Pacino in this ‘verse
-But also I like to think Lann and Reynn play a lot of bubblegum pop, so catch Victor and Albert dancing to the PA like idiots and then getting Demyx, skekSil, and Simon in on it while Vincent and Vexen are like “Oh God why are these our friends”
-(There are reasons this particular Demyx goes by a different name instory and it’s weirding me out to type “Demyx” for this post)
-Without spoiling too much of the arc, there IS a part where Blakeworther beats up the Tsviets, there IS a part where they battle the Anima summon from FFX and win, and there IS a part where despite all of this, Xion kicks their asses across the city
-They go through this mission seeing each other as partners and friends (though Vincent and Albert are reluctant to use the “friend” word at first), but after they all get back to base, they’re just...suddenly overwhelmed with the fact that they’re strangers in a strange land missing half their memories.
-They room together, and they end up crawling into the same bed for solidarity reasons. This is actually where I first envisioned the “rough day” sleeping position - Vincent and Victor are chest-to-chest, then Albert just snuggles in behind Victor and the other two are like “Okay, we’re gonna just let this happen” and Vincent and Albert touch at one tangent point where their arms cross.
-The days might get a little rougher after they realize they aren’t even the originals.
-Eventually they assimilate into the chaos house with no problem.
-Vincent tends to hang out with the party poopers of the house. Especially Mozenrath (Aladdin: The Animated Series). (P.S. If there are any VTSOM fans out there who also know the 90s Aladdin TV series...I CAN’T be the only one who noticed the surface similarities here, right?)
-Victor Blake and Roman Torchwick (RWBY). Oh, God, this is the hell duo. They’re party animals who love to dance and drink and dance drunk. It was not a good idea to let these two redheads meet.
-Albert and Neopolitan (RWBY)! They both love stabbing people and Victorian button boots! I actually kinda have this idea that they would pick up more fucked-up serial killer types to hang out with them - Mad Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone) is their patron despite being a much tamer example, but Albert also decides he really likes Scaramouche (Samurai Jack), Junko Enoshima (DanganRonpa), and Jerome Valeska (Gotham).
-For a real deep cut, Albert also opens up a joint Dream Therapy office with Dr. Cheshire Broach (Crypt TV). It’s either called “Krueger & Broach” or “Broach & Krueger” depending on how long it takes either to notice that the other moved his name to the front of the sign again. You should ABSOLUTELY not trust either of these men to give you legitimate therapy (though if you’re good friends with them, they can and will use their dreamon powers to help you best your nightmares in a bloody fashion).
-Actually this ‘verse is the entire reason I thought of them doing drag karaoke to “United We Stand” by Amberian Dawn because the WHAM ARMY is all about karaoke, drag, and any combination of the two
-I haven’t decided yet if their romance will be a slow burn or a faster affair. I’m expecting them to tell me as I write out the fic. But I think in a lot of respects, it’s going to be more of a friends-to-lovers story than their original forms had. The three of them are forced to become an elite cyborg warrior unit created by the same mad scientist, they had a big bonding mission together where they became ride or die (whether or not they want to admit it), and eventually...we can start revealing that they’re CATCHING FEELINGS.
-The WHAM ARMY has many, many power couples and ships of various numbers of people but Blakeworther ends up becoming yet another POWER THROUPLE around base, and it’s understood that messing with one of them will earn the wrath of the other two
-They go on to assist in many, many missions with the purpose of taking over various worlds and kingdoms and just fucking them up
-Vincent Edgeworth will kill the TBTC equivalent of Dunkacino
You have to understand that TBTC is my hyperfixation to end all hyperfixations. Every piece of fiction I touch ends up related to it in some way. At some point the majority of how I interact with Blakeworther is going to be through this AU. I’m just a sucker for crossovers and villains having a place to be bros and party.
#vincent edgeworth#victor blake#albert krueger#blakeworther#friendly reminder that i do also take headcanon requests about the wham army!#just saying!#ASK ME ABOUT MY CROSSOVER UNIVERSE!

As many are doing after the latest volume, I do have a canon divergent verse in the works in which Penny lives. Now, hear me out. My long time followers probably are well aware of my default maiden verse that I’ve held on to since maidens were announced and Winter was present all the way back in volume 3. You can pull this from my cold dead hands. This will continue not only in my canon compliant threads, but most divergent ones as well.
Since there might be some unpopular opinions below the read more, the nice TLDR version of it is Penny lives and Winter is the maiden. Yay she’s alive! This does not mean I won’t write verses where Penny is alive and the maiden, but that is not my default.
Now for the salt/further explanation as to why my default verses are this way:
PENNY DIDN’T NEED TO DIE.
This probably isn’t the most unpopular thought, and I’m not even touching the coded arguments and whatnot as I am not in a position of being able to speak for the community on that matter. This is purely that volume 8 didn’t have to go quite like this. It comes off as only being written this way to get a character out of the way.
I make this statement because they could have given Winter the Maiden powers from the start and avoided Penny’s death this whole time. Yes, Winter calls the powers a “gift” at the end of volume 8 and I am not denying that Penny gifted her them. HOWEVER, the line by Ironwood has rubbed me the wrong way since it came up. Basically him saying he chose this for her. And in a way, sure. He proposed the idea to her, but in volume 7 Winter makes it clear to Weiss that this is HER choice and she WANTS to do this.
Volume 7, Ep. 5 - Sparks, timestamp 16:15 is where the conversation starts regarding the Maiden powers. Eventually we hit this part of the conversation:
Weiss: Doesn’t it bother you? He practically groomed your whole military career.
Winter: It did at first, when the General first proposed it to me. But the more I thought about it, the more I saw it as a privilege, a chance to do some real good for Atlas. For Remnant.
Weiss: But your destiny was chosen for you, without your input.
Winter: Perhaps, but I am choosing it now. I’ve made it my own. And I take great pride in it. That has nothing to do with Father, or the General.... That belongs to me.
Weiss: I guess we’ve both had to do a little bit of that. Carving out our own way.
Winter has made this decision for herself. Yes, it was prompted by someone else, but that was an option that she otherwise would have been oblivious to. She has accepted the responsibility to do this for others. “For Remnant.”
Penny, on the other hand, earlier in the same episode confides in Ruby that she wishes she had the time to do what she’s “supposed to do” and what she “wants to do.” This is a person with responsibility she never chose for herself. She does it because who else will? Who else is going to be “the Protector of Mantle?” She wants to be a normal girl. Much like Ruby wanted for herself in volume 1.
Penny has a good heart and wants to help people, but she also didn’t ask for all of this.
Now how does this play into what happens at the end of volume 7 and through volume 8 and still come out with the same (basically) situation at the end of the most recent volume? Let me explain.
In the fight with Cinder where Fria is dying and asks Penny if she’s the one, Penny could then instead remind her of Winter (we have seen Fria’s memory to be brief and fading) in an attempt to save Winter from the damage and fight of Cinder’s fight. Ruby still shows up, uses silver eyes and Cinder escapes but with Winter as the Maiden instead. However, she’s still injured and still in the military.
Things have gone according to plan for Winter getting the powers BUT team RWBY are still fugitives. Penny can still leave with them at Winter’s encouragement to give them a head start out of trouble.
Now how would this play into things that go in volume 8?
Salem is at their doorstep, using the Staff to go higher won’t do much against a flying whale, so let’s take care of that first. Winter, go take care of that with the Ace Ops and come right back and then we can get at the Staff.
Okay, let’s go with that. Events unfold just as they did in the volume on that front. But what about the virus? Is there a point? Eh.... Could take it or leave it. Watts did have a personal vendetta against Pietro anyway, so I could see him just getting into the systems and doing that all sneaky like just to be an ass without the Maiden powers at stake.
Winter already has been shown to be a good person at heart and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. She just grew up very much a victim of abuse and unfortunately “tough love” was her way of trying to be strong and caring at the same time.
I have more thoughts on that, but this is not the post for it.
Because of this, she would still choose to protect Marrow and defect when it becomes painfully obvious there’s no convincing Ironwood to change his mind (I’ll also do canon divergence with Ironwood rpers that want to do different things, but for the sake of this post, let’s assume everything happens the same way minus the Maiden powers and Penny’s death). Then she actively assists RWBY and company through to the end of volume 8.
Then what of Penny?
Penny is still a very capable individual who is (outside of the virus mess) able to disobey orders. She just doesn’t like to, so it’s not like she can’t CHOOSE to live her life as she wants or help others while trying to figure out what she wants out of her life. Let her help with the evacuation. And if Ironwood really wanted to blackmail her into coming back, even without the powers, he could use Winter’s injured state to guilt her. Something like “Winter needs protection and you left her at risk of death when you abandoned us” or whatever. Not that it would work, necessarily but definitely a way to keep close to what happened without killing her off.
Then what of the gift?
She would have already given it. By telling Fria it was Winter who was meant to give the power, she would have kept with the decision Winter made for herself and gave her the chance to finally have done something for herself instead of her Father’s decisions or what the General demanded. We already addressed that Winter CHOSE THIS FOR HERSELF. A woman who constantly had choices made for her growing up and in her career FINALLY had a decision to make for herself (and one she was making to do something good for Remnant as a whole) had it stolen from her by the writers in canon. I do not put Penny at fault for this as she was basically used as a plot device to be offed when convenient it seemed.
Winter made one choice for herself, and the writers take that away and then present it as a GIFT instead??? That’s kind of a slap in the face. Which is ultimately why I’ve typed up this post to explain why my default verses are the way they are. This is not to be an insult to Penny the character or Penny rpers. This is out of annoyance that they went and made two female characters with so much potential lose a part of themselves in how things were executed.
I could probably make this more coherent if I took the time to proof read and work out more points that I have about this (trust me, I have many) BUT this post is already long enough and I think basically covers why I’ve made this decision.

i gasped when i saw your magnus archives au because i'm a huge fan and your artwork on head archivist ooblek is so incredible. do you have any stray headcanons on it, or maybe how grimm translate to entities, or anything really because i'm so fascinated with this concept.
//You got a big storm comin'
Soooo TMA AU was basically caused by @nightmarebcrn and @jinxedcrow getting me into The Magnus Archives and the subsequent chaos thereafter. Barty was actually built slowly after I began season 3 I think (but it may have been season 2 or even earlier. I remember not realizing just how bad I was setting him up for pain). I'm gonna give a write up with as few show-spoilers as possible beyond the basic concept (Entities) and I will chew on the Grimm bc I didn't quite work on them when I developed this but now that you said it that brain's a-firin' away.
So!
The Archivist of Beacon AKA Why Barty Can't Have Nice Things
While I have written a statement on Barty's past, I'll do a quick write up of his history and who he is as the Archivist.
With all of my iterations of Barty, he is neurodivergent. He has Aspergers (low-spectrum Autism) and ADHD. This presents primarily in hyperfocus, being less than adept at social situations, a tendency to shy away from direct eye contact, and stimming (bouncing his leg, jittery movements, counting in dead languages).
Different to his canon verse, Barty is an only child and his parents were of equal age.
His first contact with the entities was when he was a young boy. He was raised primarily running around a now closed, privately run museum that operated near Oxford University. While no doubt several of the items within have made their way into the Beacon Artifact Storage, at the time he was aware of nothing specifically evil. A new lot acquisition included an unusual set of canopic jars that were written off by several scientists as very good fakes. Despite that, one of the employees – Dr. Herbert Renshaw – became obsessed with them and succumbed to their lure. He killed four people by removing critical organs and permanently disfigured a fifth before disappearing with them. While Barty witnessed the attack which killed his parents, and saw what it entailed, he repressed much of it for most of his life. Working at Beacon brought most of it back.
After his parents died he was looked after by his grandfather, who was a strict and no-nonsense veteran of the second World War. The arrangement lasted only two years before he died of cancer and Barty was released into the foster system, inheritance waiting for him when he turned 18.
Shuttled through foster homes, Barty became something of a punk. He had a big chip on his shoulder, was lonely and desperate for a place to fit in when there were so few that could address his needs. Finally he was sent somewhere with a reputation for 'curing' delinquency. Without knowing it he entered a residence under control of the Web.
Qrow Branwen was in his year in high school. While he and Barty didn't at once know each other, as they were both rather withdrawn and loners, they eventually grew close because of similar interests and attitudes. After a few months Qrow spotted a tell-tale scar on the back of Barty's neck. He'd escaped the same boys home the year before in a bid to be placed elsewhere with his twin. Suddenly frightened for Barty's life, he hatched a plan to help Barty escape. Because Barty was far more under the influence of the Web than Qrow had been it had turned into a rescue mission than a run away. The two of them burned the home to the ground and somehow managed to evade implication.
Barty went to stay with Qrow and Raven with their foster mother, Morrigan Branwen. She was careful to help with his needs, and Barty loved her like a mother, though he never considered Raven or Qrow his siblings. In Qrow he'd developed a bad crush that quickly turned into a deep, devoted love. While Barty wasn't much given to the concept of soulmates, he considered Qrow exactly that.
He and Qrow both were accepted into University and he'd thought they would always be together. Eventually though Qrow began to fade away from him, consumed by something else, and dropped out of University. He cut off contact and disappeared. Barty didn't see him again until Morrigan's funeral and never got any explanation for what happened.
Years later Barty obtained both his doctorate in history and a degree in archaeology. His interests were always skewed to the occult, though something always kept him back from pursuing the real deal of the supernatural. He was looking forward to a life of academia, though something always felt empty to him. Sometimes he'd see a familiar face in a crowd and his neck would itch before they disappeared. He never really gave up the torch he carried for Qrow either, despite trying to move on.
After a talk he gave on a lesser known cult during the height of the Egyptian empire, Dr. Ozpin Newman approached him about a job as Head Archivist in Beacon Academy. He might not have accepted the position if he had already been tenured, but Barty had a shaky research position at the University of London, and Ozpin was offering a good contract. Despite knowing Beacon's reputation he agreed... no one could deny the credentials of a Head Archivist of a major academic institute, even one with ties to potential supernatural research.
It was there he is reunited with Qrow again and settled into his job, hardly questioning why Ozpin might want him... why he made such an excellent candidate for Archivist. He was determined to set the archives right after Maria Calavera's treatment of them, set on making a difference, trying hard to hold onto the belief that encounters – despite having been involved in two such events on his own – were rare.
Fear has a way of catching up, has a way of mutating you, as he was ensnared by The Eye, and caught up in a careful game of chess between Avatars. Guilt is acid in his veins as he loses his employees one by one to different entities. Scars began to pile. Secrets began to be revealed, whether the information merely curled out towards him, or a few careful worlds could force them from the lips of those he put question to.
Eventually he had to wonder if he was even really human anymore... when the voyeuristic statements of fear were far more nourishing to his body than food. But surely it's human to be willing to kill to protect Qrow and his people, to make the world right again?
So, that's kind of a basic write up. As for Grimm, I am currently toying with creatures that are far more horrifying than their base in RWBY. The Grimm are soulless manifestations of dangerous concentrations of fear given form, residual negative energies forming into mindless beasts able to be controlled and guided by their Avatars, provided that Avatar embraces its calling. Tools to reap yet more energy for the entities beyond the veil.

RWBY Musings #81: The Queen of Thieves. What if…Weiss Schnee will have to defend her family against Robyn Hill in the next episode?

Anon-ninja asked “Do you think Oscar might train with ironwood in the next episode? Maybe ironwood will eventually question him in private? That could be used ass a way to get this boy back into the story”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Squiggles Answers:
No; not this family, sadly to say…

I mean the other one we don’t like to talk about.

This was originally just going to be just an answer post regarding my favourite best boy: Oscar Pine, however along the way it turned into a short musing post sharing this squiggle meister’s thoughts and theories for next episode, especially where Weiss is concerned. I don’t usually muse about the Weiss-cream but it’s actually an interesting small headcanon.
Missing Little Prince
But before I get to talking about Weiss. Let’s talk about my boy again, just to answer the anon-ninja who asked me this question. If I can be honest with you anon-chan, I actually hope that's not the case.
While I'm eager for Oscar to at least appear once next episode (like possibly in another memory flashback courtesy of Ruby to highlight the conclusion to her brief talk with Oscar from V7CH3), I honestly would better prefer for Oscar's training with Ironwood to be its own episode since Oscar could honestly use his own focus episode at this point. Following his treatment during V6 and his treatment in the recent episode of V7, I am seriously very tired of the Writers overlooking him. Not saying that to sound disrespectful in any kind of way or to rag on the Writers but… I really need to ask---is Oscar a character or not? More than that; is he REALLY a part of the main cast and hero team or not?

I’d like to think of Oscar as being in the same class as JNR. He’s part of the deuteroganist group whose story and development is just as important as our protagonist team. Or at least, it’s supposed to be?
But I’m not sure anymore. I understand that good, exciting things were promised for the precious freckled farm boy turned little prince for this volume and while I’m trying my goshdarndiggity hardest to be as patient as I can be in anticipating that, apologies but my patience was surely tested last episode and it made me think back to V6 where I had a similar experience with Oscar’s story---anticipating him having a great season only for it to fall flat in the end with his overall treatment somehow being worse than V5. At least that’s how it was for me. Not speaking for all Pineheads here. This is only my opinion.
That being said, giving how the story went down last episode and given that CH5 was written by the same CRWBY Writer---Eddy Rivas---who mentioned that CH4 was his ‘baby’ chapter too, I have a feeling that we’re more likely to have a direct continuation to plot points established in that episode.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Men On Mission
Now that our heroes have been rewarded their huntsmen licenses and were shown viewing the mission board at the end of the last episode, I feel like the next few episodes---CH5 to CH7 or just CH5 and 6---will be its own little mini-arc; just like how Brunswick Farms was its own little mini-arc back in V6.
I’m curious if the next few episodes might showcase our heroes going on missions around Solitas according to the mission board highlighted in CH4. I want to pay especial attention to the Solitas Mission board since it might provide a clue as to where JNR_RWBY might be next episode.

Okay, so according to the Mission board: there are two escort missions and two perimeter defence missions that are open. The remaining two missions: Search and Rescue and Bounty are stated as “In Progress” so I’m assuming that those two missions already have huntsmen assigned to them.
I’m curious to know if that’s the mission that General Ironwood discussed with Clover beforehand.
Before Ironwood met with JNR_RWBY, he was last seen discussing something with Clover where he mentioned that he needed him on the ground while warning him to be subtle since if the people saw too many huntsmen around, it might attract trouble with the Grimm.
Speaking of, can I just take this moment to address how much Ironwood has grown here? I found it really ironic hearing Ironwood discussing subtly and the attraction of the Grimm with Clover since I still remember that this was the same man who wanted to bring the full force of the Atlesian Army to Vale and went behind his own colleague and fellow headmaster of many years to do so. You know what that’s called? Growth. It’s just a nice little parallel and call back to V2 that I appreciate.
So yeah, I’m assuming that Ironwood must’ve deployed Clover down in Mantle specifically to investigate what happened to Forest.

Ironwood told Clover not to take Marrow since he’s probably not the most subtle or discreet of the team. Poor good boy. So I’m guessing that Clover must’ve taken Harriet instead since she was absent along with him in the end.
Pfft…I almost want to make a wise crack about Clover taking Harriet as his mission partner for good luck since…y’know…she’s based off the Hare from the Tortoise and the Hare fable and y’know…rabbits represent good luck and all that jazz.
Anyways I’m going to assume that Clover and Harriet were deployed to one of the missions on the Board. Probably the Search and Rescue one since it’s slated as in progress. Since Tyrian has been confirmed to be targeting public leaders who speak out against Atlas, I’m curious if another public leader was reported missing in Mantle and Clover and Harriet were tasked in finding them and rescuing them if necessary. That’s pretty my hunch in regards to that.
Resuming talk about CH5, since the thumbnail for CH5 highlighted Robyn Hill making her debut next episode, I'm assuming that it'll continue from where CH4 left off. As I said, CH4 ended with the heroes taking up missions in Solitas.
We know that Jaune already accepted one of the Escort Mission with the pre-schoolers. That leaves the remaining three open missions on the board to be divided between Ren, Nora, Blake, Yang, Weiss and Ruby.
Elm also hinted that one of the Perimeter Defence missions involving a lose Sayber needing two huntsmen for the job.
So that leaves me to believe that the second Escort and the second Perimeter Defence mission on the board will probably require 2 huntsmen each depending on their difficulty level.

That being said, here’s my squiggly theory for the next two episode mini-arc:
CH5 will be another mission-focused episode with JNR_RWBY each deployed on separate missions across Solitas. Since Jaune will be down in Mantle with his respective escort mission, my hunch is that Ren and Nora (Flower Power) will be joining him down in Mantle since they are the two who will be designated to tackle the Perimeter Defence Mission involving the lose Sayber down in the sewers.
This leaves Team RWBY. Since the season has been going really hard with them since episode 1, I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Yang and Blake (Bumblebee) are going to tag team for the second Perimeter Defence mission. This leaves Ruby and Weiss (Ice flower) with the second Escort mission which I’m going to assume is up in Atlas.
That’s my best guess.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Queen Protects King?
Okay, now this is where things are really going to get headcanon-y. It’s also the part involving Weiss.
What if …for V7CH5, Ruby and Weiss take the Escort Mission and the person who they find out they’ll have to begrudgingly escort to wherever in Solitas is none other than Jacques Schnee and possibly Whitley too

Imagine…the look on Weiss’ face if she were to discover that her very first official mission after becoming an officially licensed huntress basically involves her working for her father and little brother---to be at their beck and call as she and Ruby play huntsmen body guards to protect them and escort them wherever in Solitas?
I think an episode like this would actually be pretty damn fascinating to watch play out, don’t you think? I think it would be great to see how Weiss would react to doing something like this especially after the awesometacular way she told off Jacques last episode. Not to mention that this could potentially be Weiss’ first time seeing Whitley again…now as an official huntress ESPECIALLY since the last time the two spoke, he basically told her that her becoming a huntress was a useless career path.
How did the young Schnee boy describe it? Barbaric? Beneath people like him and his father. I wonder just how barbaric and beneath Whitley it will be as he watches his sister use her abilities to protect his life before his very eyes? He might learn a thing or two.
Besides I’m also curious to see how Whitley would react to seeing Weiss in action as a trained huntress; honed in her skills especially when she summons her knight. I wonder how Weiss would react having to protect her father and brother as part of her job. Seriously, I really would love for an episode like this.
And y’know what? I think it could potentially even be in the cards. My rationale for thinking an episode like this could potentially be canon is because, CH5 showed Robyn Hill in the thumbnail.

Robyn Hill is supposedly RWBY’s version of Robin Hood, right? Her and her Happy Huntresses are the RWBY-verse’s rendition of Robin Hood and his Merry Men, right?
That being said; wasn’t Robin Hood’s theme that he stole from the rich to give to the poor? Wasn’t there not a scene in the Robin Hood animated film by Disney where Robin and his Merry Men worked together to rob the greedy Prince John of his richies while he was on an excursion out of his kingdom carrying a chest of gold?
Robyn Hill will appear next episode. One of the missions in Solitas is an escort mission.
What if…and this is a big if…CH5 will involve Ruby and Weiss tag-teaming for a mission to escort Jacques (and maybe Whitley) on some kind of business mission where they’re supposed to make a deal and collect money or something and during the mission, the group are not only ambushed by the Grimm but also Robyn Hill and her Happy Huntresses who arrived to pilfer from Jacques and take back what he’s exploited from the people of Mantle?
I know this sounds like farfetched idea but maybe I could be onto something. I’d like to think of Jacques as RWBY’s version of the Prince John apart from his double role as the Wicked Queen in Weiss’ Snow White story.

I also think it could be pretty cool.
Watching Weiss be a huntress and protect her family. I know Weiss doesn’t necessarily need to prove anything to Jacques or even Whitley. However, I still think it’d be pretty awesome to see her in action and have Jacques be there to watch his cage bird soar high and kick ass to protect his sorry ass.
I more like this idea as being a nice little segway into developing Weiss’ side of things. I’d especially love an episode like this so that we can have like a follow-up on what Jacques told Weiss about her dear mother.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weeping Willow
First of all, I know Jacques has already been depicted as the scum of the Earth but how much lower can this man sink if he resorts to using his own ‘wife’s’ disease (I’ll come back to that in a minute) as a means of guilt-tripping Weiss into coming home or worse, make her feel bad for rightfully leaving home after how he treated her last time.

What’s noteworthy about that was Weiss’ reaction to learning about how her mother might have felt upon her departure.

This is intriguing to me since…not to make it sound bad in any kind of way but, it gave the impression that Weiss actually cares for her mother’s well-being which is…kind of new to me since the last time we saw Weiss in V4, she acted rather indifferent to her mother’s existence.
We never even saw them interact. I know she talked about her in V5, giving some more perspective on how things really were in Schnee Manor. But this is the first time I’ve seen Weiss show genuine concern for her mother and I feel like if she were to see Whitley again, she might be tempted to probe him with questions about the state of their mother.
“Y’know…your mother was devastated. Didn’t leave her room for days. Y’know how she gets when she’s upset?”
Y’know how she gets when she’s upset?
Huh. That’s an interesting thing for Jacques to imply here. I know he probably mentioned that to sort of hint at the common FNDM theory that Ms Schnee is an alcoholic, like Qrow used to be. However, I feel like there is more to it than that.
The first time we heard of Mama Schnee, the impression given was that she was an alcoholic who mostly spent her days drinking her sorrows away than raising her own children. Now, according to Jacques, she sounds more like an ailing mother and that there might be more to her circumstance than I initially pegged.
Due to this, I’m now inclined to ask the question or rather, make the theory:
What if… Mama Schnee suffers with chronic depression and alcohol is basically her coping mechanism to dealing with her condition as an alternative to seeking the right medical attention and help that she needs.
Perhaps this could potentially tie in further to Jacques’ abuse of his own wife. Like imagine if...Jacques knew of his wife’s condition and used it as a means of manipulating her further?
Like in the beginning when he was being all nice just to get her to marry him and do what he wants, he used to make his wife feel like she didn’t need help at all because to him she was perfect in his eyes. Until the bomb finally went off and now, Jacques uses his wife’s condition as ammo to guilt his children, among other things?
It’s only a small theory. Like I said, I don’t usually muse about Weiss. But since we will be exploring more of her character and backstory this season, it’d be interesting to what’s in store for us with her and her family when we get into their family affairs.
For now, I’ll just hoping that I’m correct about her and Ruby encountering Robyn Hill and the Happy Huntresses for the first time while defending Jacques of all people. I think that could be really cool to see. But as always, for now, it’s only a theory.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So to conclude...
Now that I’ve mused mostly over Weiss’ side of things for CH5, as for Ruby:
...Well technically Ruby has currently become the main driver for anything to do with Oscar since the subplot involving her deceit if Ironwood is shared with Oscar.
The most I’m hoping for with CH5 as far as Oscar is concerned is that it’ll show the conclusion to his talk with Ruby from since CH3.

That’s mostly what I’m hoping for since...honestly I 'm starting to think that Oscar might be absent from the next episode again. At least, I don’t think the plot will focus on him as much as JNR_RWBY unless it’s in flashback mode.
Similar to Brunswick Farm in RWBY V6, I feel like CH5 and CH6 are probably going to be a mini arc involving our heroes being huntsmen in the field which will lead into them encountering and possibly clashing with the likes of Robyn Hill and her Happy Huntresses.
I genuinely feel like we might not see Oscar training with Ironwood til CH7---the midseason episode. Heck I feel like we might not even see Oscar again at all in the plot until CH7.
Then again, as I said, this is only my best assumption here and who’s to say I’ll be correct? I’m just a humble squiggle meister sharing her thoughts and theories as per usual. Take it as you will, fam.

So I finally caught up on RWBY after falling behind by a couple seasons and now I’m being pressured into making a RWBY verse, so here we fucking go.
My Lucky Rabbit | RWBY Verse |
Due to a bad Grimm attack, the small cabin just on the borders of Vale sat with only the youngest son to look after it. It wasn't much, but the small garden, and a few beehives allowed him to get by on his own.
Rowan mostly kept to himself, only venturing close to the city when he needed supplies. He told himself he didn't mind being on his own, but that didn't stop the house from feeling a little too quiet at times.
Of course, he didn't realize how much that would change as a faunus boy suddenly ran by, running from two men with clear ill intent. Stepping in front of the faunus, Rowan managed to get their attackers to back off. At first, Rowan thought that would be the end of it. He did his good deed for the day, and the boy would be on his way back to wherever he came from. Of course, as the boy continued to stick around, Rowan quickly realized he wouldn't be getting rid of them that easily.
It wasn't long before the two grew closer with Rowan watching over Theo to keep them safe, and Theo helping out with the garden and making the cabin feel a little less empty.
After Theo shared his own story and pushed the idea of joining one of the huntsman academies, Rowan wasn't exactly for the idea. What had the huntsmen ever done for him? They weren't around when his home was attacked. Of course, with Theo's stubbornness, Rowan eventually followed, slipping his way into the school with the sole intention of looking after his little lucky rabbit and nothing more.

ANON WHO ENABLES. ENABLER ANON. BLESS.
Wolfcury:
-Blake isn’t sure what to expect of her new teammates, but Ruby having a GIANT WOLFDOG is not one of them. It takes- a long time for Blake to not flinch and throw herself onto something high whenever Mercury shows up, even though he TRIES to not be a gremlin and bark or prank her.
-Weiss lasts maybe three days before she breaks out the baby talk. Because while Mercury is big he’s still a dog and we’ve seen how Weiss responds to Zwei. Mercury is annoyed by the baby talk and ignores her until Ruby convinces Weiss to “please just talk normally”. Then he will permit the scratching of ears.
-Weiss and Blake are both going to be SO SHOCKED (and upset) that Mercury is actually a person and they were never told.
-Ruby gets super into prosthetics and the building of them because of Mercury. She knows they can get him a prosthetic human leg, but it’s not going to transform into a wolf leg when he does. That technology just- doesn’t exist in that specific way yet. So Ruby decides at age ten or so that she’s gonna make one.
-Ruby: It’s transform when you do and it’ll be great and it’s also gonna be a *gun*.
-Mercury: Ruby I have teeth and claws, I don’t need a gun for a leg.
-Ruby, excitedly drawing prototype blueprints: GUNLEG.
-She does in fact build him a transforming gunnel with Velvet’s help. Mercury is a goodnatured Sigh.
-MercuryxEmerald is the eventual ship planned, and Yang teases him mercilessly for it once she’s sure Emerald is serious about defecting to the good guys. I’m also dabbling in Rosegarden (is that the ship name? OscarxRuby) because the idea of Ruby going from “ew crushes” to having one of her own amuses the heck out of me.
Always I Dreamed (Raven AU):
-Raven has a propensity for adopting things, as evidenced by Ozpin and later Emerald. But it doesn’t stop with them, and her habits are infectious. At various points in Yang’s childhood, she gets a gruff ex-assassin sibling from Mom (Mercury), two adorable cousins from Uncle Qrow (Ren and Nora), one angry older sister bandit (Vernal), a Cool Big Sister Figure with Fire Powers (Amber), and of also another Big Sister with Many Issues of The Anger that Raven carefully helps her work through. This particular big sister is a fav of Ruby’s because she can make cool toys from black glass.
-Yes Raven is fixit adopting Cinder
-No I didn’t see that coming either, neither did Raven. It just kinda- happened.
-Raven absolutely sings RWBY songs sometimes. Usually “Home” as a sibling lullaby for Qrow and later Team STORQ, then later All Our Days for her kids. But sometimes she can be heard humming other themes under her breath.
Azur verse:
-I’ve mentioned that Ozpin is a former Khara and proceeds to adopt Azur the feral Khara child, but I can’t resist touching on how Azur and Qrow meet.
-Azur is feral bby. He woke up in this world in the wilds and his Semblance (or magic, Oz is still not sure which it is) saved him from Grimm, and Azur tended to follow Grimm everywhere because they kept the other predators away. So this child is very feral when Oz finally coaxes him into his house. Azur is also protective and dedicated and knows that the only two people who come here are Ozdad and Housekeeper Lady.
-So when Qrow, very drunk and newly returned from a mission, decides to crash on Oz’s couch, Azur doesn’t have a clue that this is normal and fine. Cue Qrow being attacked and knocked out by a very persistent and angry 7-10 year old.
-Ozpin comes home to a trashed living room, a very proud Azur, and a Qrow who has been tied up using every bit of rope, string, or wire Azur could find and is nursing both a concussion and a hangover.
-Ozpin unties Qrow and explains he’s welcome here once he’s stopped laughing himself sick.
Dragon Yang:
-Yang really likes Ozpin. *Really* likes him. It’s not a crush or anything, but she went from a world soaked in magic to Remnant which has barely any left and it makes her feel off balance and numb. Then she goes to Beacon and the Headmaster HAS MAGIC. She can feel it. So she starts to heavily gravitate toward him when possible because he feels “normal”
-Ozpin, who has been the object of many school hood crushes, takes a bit to realize that Yang is not yet another student with a crush. And then he’s confused on why she keeps falling into his orbit when possible.
-He has no idea that in this magic-starved world, he is basically the living equivalent of dragon slayer catnip.
-Oznip.
-Ruby also thinks Yang has a crush and is thoroughly grossed out because *Yang he’s a TEACHER*. Yang just laughs at her baby sister’s discomfort.
Noctscar:
-Luna wakes up slowly, in fits and starts and dreams of rain and a knife in her side. She wakes up to the cold, to the loneliness, and then wakes up further because no child should have to deal with this.
-Luna wakes up when she is once again eleven years old and stares at herself in the mirror.
-Weiss Schnee, second daughter of Willow and Jaques Schnee, looks back. And looks *tired*.
-Her sister has already joined Altas academy and is on the fast track to the military, and though she loves her sister, it smacks greatly of Ravus from a lifetime ago and Luna cannot bear to look at Winter sometimes because of it.
-She dotes on her little brother, on poor Whitley who is neither stubborn like Winter or an old soul like Luna and yet is stuck in this abusive, neglectful household. She tries to shield him from mother’s blank stares and father’s sharp bursts of temper. She has lived with bruises like this before, better she take it than Whitley.
-When she is young, she hears on the news in school that there was a mining accident, that a great many Faunus died. While the rest of her classmates titter, one girl who Luna always avoided because she hung out with a crowd Luna didn’t trust, bursts into tears and turns bright blue. The other girls recoil. Luna sits down next to the girl and holds her hand, not hiding the tears falling from her own face at the thought of such massive loss of life.
-She never sees the Faunus girl again, but it is a wake up call. A reminder that something is very likely *wrong* with her father’s company. So she investigates.
-She is twelve the first time she sneaks out in a hoodie and a little painted theater mask. She makes it all the way down to Mantle, and there she reaches for blistered hands and weary souls. She is no longer an Oracle, but magic is of the soul and she remembers it well. When she calls, golden magic answers. She heals until she is exhausted, and somehow she manages to make it home without falling over or getting caught by Klein. She does it again, in between recitals and school and taking care of Whitley, she continues to sneak down to Mantle. Never speaking, never showing her face (they would hate her for her blood if they knew, she knows, reject her help if they saw her white hair and blue eyes), but always helping and healing where she can.
-The people of Mantle name her. Ghost, they call her.
-Moon Angel, the Faunus whisper. Helper, healer, lost soul.
-When she is thirteen, Luna signs up to a combat school despite her father’s disapproval. When Whitley clings to her in fear that she too will abandon him as Winter has (Winter visits to rarely, and always her attention rests solely on Weiss when she does and it makes Luna so *angry*), Luna tells him her plan. She will become a Huntress, and when she has her license, nothing will stop her from coming and taking him away from this place. She will be able to make money to provide for them, to free them from this cold palace of finery and recitals and empty wine bottles and bruises under their clothes in the shape of a man’s hands.
-When she is seventeen she applies to Beacon rather than Atlas, in defiance more than desire. She bids Whitley goodbye and promises once again to come back for him, he just needs to hold on a little longer.
-There is faith in his eyes as he waves her off. Luna died keeping her word, her duty, in another life. She will do no less here.

You brought this on yourself, Hails. All of the questions for the mun thing.
Questions about Pyrrha
What makes you the most emotional about your muse?
The tragedy of her death in canon honestly, she had just managed to make true friendships for the first time, even forming a best friendship with her partner and developing feelings for him. She had just gotten to be happy, and then in the span of just a few days her world just crashed and destroyed her to the point she fought someone she knew she had no chance of winning and died at the age of 17. That’s a minor in our world.
What made you decide to write this muse?
I relate a lot to Pyrrha, in both a negative and positive light, and I really fell for her character during my first time watching the show. I myself have struggled to make friends ( although due to petty rumors and a bad reputation proceeding me as I am incredibly shy and no one believed a cheerleader could be shy at my former school ), I have always had a habit of saying I’m sorry after any little mishap, and I react very similarly when anxious or stressed as Pyrrha was shown to do in the show. Before I started out here I tested Pyrrha in a text rp with a friend and found her character to flow smoothly for me so I made this blog and kept on writing.
If you could change one event in your muse’s life (in their main or canon verse), what would you change?
Her dying!!
If you could tell your muse one thing, what would you tell them?
To not go to that tower
If you could give your muse one gift, what would you give them?
HAPPINESS
If you had to take one positive thing away from your muse, what would you take away?
Oh god why Pyrrha needs more positivity not less, um god I really don’t know
If you could “borrow” one aspect of your muse and apply it to yourself or your own life, what would you borrow?
Her physical strength because boy I miss being able to be athletic
Do you genuinely want your muse to be happy?
So freaking much
What do you think would make them most happy in life?
Just being at peace with her friends and teammates
Do you enjoy putting your muse through angst?
I am a sucker for angst and always have been bust I specifically love comfort angst because that evolves into well earned fluff
What do you think would break their heart the most?
Losing Jaune or any of her teammates for that matter
What do you love about your muse?
Her softness, she genuinely cares about those around her so much.
What do you hate about your muse?
How she insists on putting others before herself, I think part of the reason why I hate that is because I am the same way regarding people I care about.
What about your muse amuses you?
Her little “Hello again !” and just general hints of dorkiness
What about your muse makes you sad?
SHE HARDLY GOT TO BE HAPPY, I can rant about this all day.
How would you describe your muse to someone about to meet them, in person, for the first time?
She is precious and needs to be protected
Would you like your muse as a person if you met them in real life?
Definitely, I’d so be friends with her
In what ways are you better than your muse?
My anxiety is a bit more under control than her’s is and while when things go wrong and are on my shoulders it takes me time to confide in someone sometimes I eventually do.
In what ways are they better than you?
She’s WAY physically stronger than me, I was forced to retire from the sports I was in due to a severe injury and I suffer from chronic illnesses that have stolen a vast majority of my over all strength in the past two years
Why do you think you connect to your muse?
I could really feel her pain when watching rwby? Early on I head canoned her having anxiety and it’s pretty clear she has it in volume three and seeing that on a character that is still viewed to be so strong just kinda reminded me that having anxiety does not make you weak.
What aspect of your muse’s personality is most important to you? What aspect of your muse’s personality do you think is most important to them? Is it the same? Why or why not?
Her gentleness, I think she might say the same even though she knows her putting others before herself so often does cause her pain sometimes.
If you had to judge your muse and sentence them to a “fair” fate, what would your judgement be? Would you punish them? Reward them? How?
Give her a freaking vacation with her friends

✒︎✒︎✒︎✒︎
SEND ME A ✒︎ FOR A RANDOM, DUMB, POINTLESS FACT ABOUT MY MUSE.ALWAYS ACCEPTING.
ren is one of the worst people to watch horror movies with if you’re into it for the immersion. ren did not watch a lot of films or absorb a lot of media growing up. he was sheltered, and dedicated a lot of time to study and his suitor duties and training. this didn’t leave a lot of leisure time at all. but he is intuitive, has read cinema studies books for fun and boredom. new friends eagerly show him their likes because he is very impressionable and willing to absorb new information. media is one of the easiest ways to do this, and thus by now he’s picked up on a lot of thematic elements and tropes that come along with horror and mysteries.
ren discusses movies while he’s watching them. he nit picks and points out flaws. he’ll remind you of said flaws if they’re continually brought up. he will use his deductive knowledge of both real life and cinematics to guess the ending halfway through and it’ll be annoying because he’s right most of the time. it’s not a fun time if you’re there to just enjoy yourself, and he has gotten popcorn thrown at him for this very reason. the funny thing is, ren is actually scared of horror movies the higher quality and the better the narrative is, because he’s very superstitious— but i’ll get to that headcanon in a moment.
JAUNE: REN, YOU'RE RUINING THE IMMERSIONREN: YOU KNOW THE CONCEPTUALISATION OF SATANISM IN REGARDS TO OCCULTISM AND WITCHCRAFT IS A GROSS MISCONCEPTION FROM YEARS OF HISTORICAL INACCURACY—NORA: GOD, SHUT UP
EVERYONE: *SCREAMINGREN, DEADPANNING: GREEN SCREEN
tl;dr: ren is not that fun to watch horror movies with.
ren’s upbringing was not a normal one. he has headcanons pertaining to very magical aspects of both his upbringing and his lineage. he’s a dragon, it’s not as if there aren’t magical aspects to his mythos. and this headcanon was around before volume three and actual magic was confirmed by ozpin. the original semblance set for him was mana manipulation, the ability to harness the energy of the earth most used for aura and dust. an aspect of this was spell casting. his semblance has been debunked since volume four, but i have always combined ren with mythic—based headcanons to manipulate elements of rwby i felt were coming. ren was raised after the death of his family around a lunar witch cult, taught by one of these witches, was headcanoned to be blessed by either the current, or the last spring maiden before he was born, therefor owing her his life.
he is no stranger to magic. ren believes in a lot of supernatural entities, deities, and the like. although he does become sceptical about ideals like the tooth fairy and santa clause, ideas that are heavily commercialised. his family was heavily religious and upheld a lot of old traditions, growing up in a part of mistral where moon worship was normal. he is ridiculously afraid of offending spirits, ghosts, demons, because these that were scary stories as a child became real upon encountering witches. his incredibly strong sixth sense makes him paranoid of seeing and sensing ghosts. because of his upbringing, he has a lot of habits that his family taught him, and even though ren is a very logical and analytical person, he still upholds a lot of these traditions, and most of them are scientifically unsound wives tales.
ie. if you sleep with your hair tied up and wet, you’ll die. don’t use scissors during february. don’t wear pearls on your clothes. he wears red string of fate bracelets with those closest to him for good luck. when you pee in the woods, say “excuse me” so ogres/ dwarves/ supernatural entities will not curse and attack you. don’t laugh and cry at the same time, or else you’ll grow white hair on your butt. throw salt over your shoulder if you spill it to negate the bad luck. don’t break mirrors. don’t open umbrellas indoors. collect four leaf clovers. lucky number is 8. unlucky number is 4, etc. BELIEVES FORTUNE COOKIES AND THE HOROSCOPE READINGS ARE REAL. believes in palm reading, tarot reading, rune reading, etc.
tl;dr despite believing heavily in science and logic, you could not pay ren a million lien to walk under a ladder.
i speak a lot about how manipulative and terrible the lie family is. and they were, they were greedy, snide, power hungry individuals on an average. there were good sides to them, they were occasionally just, cunning, ambitious, good leaders, all practical, highly intelligent people. and there were a lot of them. but in a place so fraught with negativity, there was little good influence that ren could base his personality on. one such touchy subject in the lie manor was marriage. there were many arranged and unhappy marriages. if you weren’t strong enough to become a huntsman or huntress, you became a suitor, and were married off into a different family, shipped off to a different part of remnant. you married into families with wealth, and influence, and were moulded into a perfect husband/ wife for your fiancé with little thought given to your own desires. marriage was quite literally treated as a commodity, and often, a punishment.
one of the only good experiences he witnessed with relationships was that of his mother and father. zhilan and li were very much in love, even though throughout ren’s life zhilan did not get to see a lot of li. and ren did not get to see lot of his parents. she was a doctor, and li was a huntsman. but ren saw how much they’d dedicated to each other when they could be together. they were together, despite the fact that ren’s grandfather did not approve of their marriage. so they never got married, and ren was born out of wedlock, but li still visited and a lot of ren’s other family members and cousins loved him. his parents performed all the romantic cliches, fortunately they were not together enough for ren to take that for granted. they had plans to elope and take ren with them to oniyuri where they could live peacefully and finally get married, which was when ren’s father li either went missing or died ( have not figured that out yet ).
the headcanon is that all of ren’s romantic traits come from his parents. his endearments of qīn, ( bae ), qīn’ài de ( darling/ dear/ dear one ), bǎobèi ( babe/ bae/ darling/ treasure ), tiánxīn ( sweetheart ) are all mirrored mannerisms from what he observed of his mother and father. it is because they did not get married, and that ren had such a bad experience with his own arranged marriage, that he has developed such animosity to the concept. ren’s father called him hǔzǐ, which translates to “tiger son”. in the very early stages of this blog, i was deliberating making ren a tiger faunus for his alternate verse. ren would probably mirror this if he were ever to consider having his own children.
tl;dr: ren’s parents are the reason that he feels so much animosity towards the concept of marriage, while simultaneously represent everything he believes about true love.
going back to the “ren is a logical person” theme,, he uses the figurative on-a-scale-of-one-to-ten phrase a lot. for someone with the semblance of emotional manipulation, he has a lot of trouble articulating how something feels. he doesn’t know exactly how to scale something with words alone. does it hurt a little? does it hurt a lot? saying something is ‘in the middle’ is not enough information for him. this boy needs instructions to function. although emotions are not easy to navigate, numbers are. formula and numbers make sense to him.
REN, HOW MUCH DOES IT HURT?REN: I— I DON’T KNOW!
REN, ON A SCALE OF ONE TO TEN, HOW MUCH DOES IT HURT?REN: UH— A SEVEN— NO, AN EIGHT
he doesn’t only use it for pain though. he uses it to measure emotions ( “on a scale of one to ten, how mad are you right now?” ), needs ( “how much do you need to use the bathroom, on a scale of one to ten?” / “how hungry are you, one to ten?” ). his reliance on numbers is not limited to this. it is the easiest way for him to assess his emotional state. ask him how bad things are up there, it is easier for him to give you a number, than a feeling. the easiest way for him to calm down in the middle of a mental breakdown? make him count how many fingers you’re holding up. make him count down from twenty. hell, make him say however many digits of pie he knows, the fibonacci numerical sequence, make him count down from one thousand by eight, it will eventually calm him down. if you ever comfort him from a nightmare by holding him to your chest, he’s probably counting your heartbeat.
tl;dr: ren is a math nerd.
