Controversial opinion: I never understood why Kirk left Exodus for Metallica - where he had less creative input, and was made to re-record the other guy's riffs.
I think he would have been a more creative, more realized musician had he stayed with Exodus.
It couldn't have been for the money, back then - did he just like Lars that much?
Just a hook for idle speculation, I know...
oooo ooo i actually know the real answer to this!! And have evidence!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it sounds like kirk was getting disillusioned with exodus, and it leads me to wonder if he would have stayed in the band at all, or if he would have quit and gone on to form a different band or join someone else. what i would love to hear is an interviewer ask him if he would have stayed in exodus if metallica hadn't recruited him
thank you for this ask! it was such a good one

I know we don't know much about jenny and Micah's relationship, only that they were involved with each other in black water, but i'd love to hear your thoughts on them and jenny's relationship with lenny!
You know, yesterday I was reading an argument about this in a tiktok comment, some said that Micah had raped her and someone else said "you can't asume he raped her because he has done other bad things!" which was interesting...
But I am going to asume that he probably did force himself due to what he said earlier in that convosation. "Why do we need a gaggle of girls who won't even fuck you if you put a gun to their head" "I am sure you have tried" "Is it too much to ask considering they get a bit of every dollar I bring in?"
There is also the fact that Micah canonly mixes up signals. He talks about how he likes Abigail and Morgan replies "I don't get the sense that the feeling is mutural" Micah's responds is "you just don't understand girls Morgan." Which is interesting considering that Abigail really does not like him. So if we give him just the tinest benefit of doubt, he might have thought it was consentual but I doubt it.
But I will also say, I am not sure that he had her at all. He is a man to brag, he isn't one to go quiet about any achievement, so the fact that he only mentions it then is a little suspecious, also because the only person who can confirm or deny the story is dead.
Either way, what does it mean for Lenny? Not much I believe, he doesn't know it happened (if it did at all), but should he learn it would absolutely break his heart and Morgan knows that as he tells Micah to not tell Lenny.
As for if Jenny liked Lenny, we don't know enough about it, we don't hear anything about the two interacting, only that Lenny liked her which could have been earning from afar. There is also the fact that Hosea uses their names for relationships that wouldn't have worked out, so yeah... It probably wouldn't.

Didn't Kirk never marry in official canon, and his brother's family all die in one of the early episodes?
Kirk married Miramanee while amnesiac in "The Paradise Syndrome", but she was flogged to death and immediately forgotten. To make matters worse, she was pregnant with his child when killed😦
Tumblr media
Sam Kirk is found dead in "Operation: Annihilate" and his wife died shortly after, but their son Peter Kirk lived. A prior episode mentioned Sam having 3 sons, but I guess the other 2 were... elsewhere. Or the Loom got them.

What is your favorite Chronicles of Narnia book and why?
This is so hard. I’ll tell you my top three and then which one is my current favorite, because it is subject to change, sorry!
I love The Magician's Nephew because it's exactly what it should be. It's simple, and it sets up the perfect origin story for the idea of Narnia, other worlds, and what that should look like if you're doing a fantasy story to teach children the truth through allegory. I love the shining gold and yellow rings as transportation devices, I love how easy it is to understand the Wood Between the Worlds and how the rings work, I love that Uncle Andrew has distant familial ties to evil magic, and that's why he even knows about all of this stuff, I love the relationship between Digory and Polly, I love the housemaid (who had never had such a day before) and I love that what Jadis and Andrew meant for evil, Aslan worked out for good, using a grubby arrogant little boy who had no idea what he was dealing with. I love the parallels between Uncle Andrew and Digory, and between Jadis and Polly. And bar none, absolutely bar none, the very best part of the entire book is when Digory is desperately wanting Aslan to help save his mother's life even though he screwed everything up, and he knows he doesn't even deserve to ask, but he wants it so badly, and it's not a bad thing to want, he's so sad about the entire situation and about the hopelessness of it all, and he looks up and sees Aslan crying. Because Aslan knows. He knows better than Digory does. I have to stop reading and cry every time I read that part; never fails.
I love The Silver Chair mainly because of Eustace but also because of the Puddleglum Speech. Eustace and Peter are constantly fighting it out to be my favorite character. I love Peter because of who Peter just naturally is as a character, but I love Eustace because I've been Eustace. (I've been Edmund too, but oh boy, have I been Eustace.) I love the way Jill and Eustace are called into Narnia, and I adore Puddleglum, and I will never forget his speech when the witch is tempting them all. I will never get a tattoo, but if I did, it would say "I'm on Aslan's side even if there isn't any Aslan to lead it. I'm going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn't any Narnia." I love Jill wrestling with keeping her mind on Aslan's instructions, especially when things get hard, and I love Puddleglum being so dismal and silly the whole book, except when it comes to the really important point in their adventure, when he turns out to be the most faithful of all of them. I love Eustace's obvious change from how he was during his first journey through Narnia, and who he is now. I love Caspian saying you can't be a ghost in your own country, because he's finally home. I love the owls, and when I can't fall asleep at night, I think about Jill's first night in Narnia in that comfy room with the fire.
I love The Last Battle because, out of everything I've ever read about the End Times, this little children's book is the only thing that makes me think and feel the way I know I'm supposed to feel about Jesus' second Advent. I'm supposed to feel the way those final chapters make you feel - when they're all finally in Aslan's Country. I'm supposed to be overjoyed at the idea of going Home and being where I belong, and stand firm even when things get scary. I'm not there yet, but The Last Battle gives me a glimpse of what it would be like to get there, and I want that! [I know it's not all theologically sound - Emeth, specifically, and his whole story is the worst. I know Lewis was thinking about Matthew 25, and I know he had some other verses he believed backed up what he was trying to say with Emeth, but the whole thing, regardless, is way too confusing even if inclusivity were the truth (it's not, from what I glean from Scripture), and it muddies waters that people really don't need further muddied. So a failure in writing, I'd say (while covering my face because what do I even know, really?). But it's helpful because it reminds me that C.S. Lewis was not perfect and he got it wrong sometimes, and made mistakes, and that's a good reminder for me and others - often, everyone treats him like a second Paul, and he wasn't, and I think he'd hate to be compared to him.] I love Eustace being brave and kicking and fighting even up to the end, when he's literally killed in Narnia (I cry every time) and I love Jill turning her head so she won't get her string wet. I love Tirian so much, and I love that we get to see the Pevensies (sans Susan) and Digory and Polly and Fledge and the Beavers and Tumnus and Reepicheep - it's such a joyful, joyful finale, even when it's all scary for a little bit and hope seems lost. It's wonderful, and I'll stand by it as a whole (even though people don't like the "Susan problem" and even though Emeth was a mistake).
But for right now, all of that said, The Silver Chair is my favorite. It's my favorite now because of how it depicts pushing on in faith even when things are hard, even when you stumble and screw up, you get back up and keep trying and when it counts, you'll be able to stand firm because when your strength fails, the Lord's never does. Love it.
Thank you, great question!

you are like. THE luztoye blog and so i’m subjecting you to my insane rambles but seriously WHAT was going on between them. like what was the reason the actors decided to play out scenes the way they did. is toye actually found luz annoying why would he have half hooded eyes and lean in for THAT LONG during the bar scene. grab him by his damn uninform. why are they still that close after the joke. breathing eachothers damn air.
like the interaction between perconte and martin just a few seconds prior? that’s friendship. that’s camaraderie. they’re pals. they’re just having a jest. luz and toye? that scene was straight up flirting. what the HELL is wrong with them.
like if they wanted us to think they were friends we would’ve gotten more scenes of them being friendly, no??? like we’ve got malarkey and toye being chums, right?? bantering, chatting, etc etc. but we don’t have that between luz and toye. we have sexual tension and then luz looking at joe for a little too long after he gets his leg blown off. anyways. feeling insane about them as always. i hope you’re day is going well your fics make me insane
nonnie you are sooooo right through all of this like GENUINELY. what was going on there. i made a very normal post about this a while ago but it's like oh my god

okay I have to ask a few more questions for Spock/Sam (Spam?) for the ask meme: 6, 9, 14, 23
6. Who would they ask if they ever had a threesome? Oh DAMN this is such a good question because ... who? Christine, maybe? Pike? Although I think that would freak Sam out. I am a Spike truther, in that Pike was the first man (possibly person?) Spock loved and I totally think it was Sarek/issues related because here's Pike in this position of authority who is SO different than anything that Spock has ever experienced. So I could so see: Spock: "The Captain is a highly gifted in the art of copulation" Sam: "No, nope, no way, shut up, I don't need to hear these things." Spock: "I do not believe you would be disappointed in the encounter." Sam: Leaves bed, takes blankets, Spock is in Husband!Jail for a thousand years. Sam's a little insecure I think about his prowess? I mean, he bagged Spock so he feels good about that but it's like have you SEEN Pike? And I'm a super pro-poly shipper/person. But damn Sam is SAM. So yeah. Christine? M'benga maybe? (I mean he's hot, so sososososo hot). La'an would be a hilarious suggestion but that would not occur. Obviously the answer is Boimler from that one time.
9. What is the most embarrassing thing they have done in front of each other? AHHHHH. Um, damn. I think they went through so many versions of being embarrassed in front of each other. Sam thinking like he's being too stupid? Or awkward? Or just plain not good enough. Spock when he starts moving towards more human responses. So ... for Sam, it would have to be something stupid that Spock like didn't even clock but Sam agonized over forever. Like messing something up at the lab, and Spock's already built in for human error, because of course he does, but Sam just ruminates on it until it like blows up in a weird Sam is a Jerk argument and Spock's like ... what? Not only because he's Vulcan, but also because I think once he decides that him and Sam are a thing, like, he can't be embarrassed with him? This is his mate and his th'y'la and okay no even typing that out that's how Spock WANTS to be, but I think he'd have his own insecurities about being found wanting. So I want to say wading into a culture that is not his own, like say Valentines day or something stupid like that and he thinks he's supposed to do something over the top for his Human Boyfriend and pulls out all the stops and does Research and Sam just figures, like well, Sam was married forever, that date just doesn't MATTER anymore to him, and so like why would Spock even care and there's this huge moment of Sam standing in a room like filled to the fucking rafters with roses and junk (Which Sam is probably adorable allergic to - those Kirk brothers) and Sam feels bad and is like the fuck are you doing and Spock is like OMG I HAVE MISSTEPPED and then they have sex about it. after the flowers are removed.
14. When one has a cold what does the other one do?
I think they would both tough it out so bad and that would thoroughly annoy the other like, what is your problem go see M'Benga. It is illogical to suffer so. Like they'd be so annoying and frustrated and like OMG JUST GO DO THE THING. No like, spoon feeding soup to each other, sadly.
23. Where is their favorite place to be together?
Oh god this is so cheesy, but anywhere? I think Sam is happy when they're working because he's SO proud of Spock, like not just that Spock is gorgeous and the whole fucking universe is obsessed with him, but Sam genuinely loves Spock for the person he is, the risks he takes each day, the sheer amount of courage he possesses, and just like that boy has it BAD. And Spock loves Sam, it isn't as overt or probably as verbose, but he feels comfort anywhere that Sam is with him. He needs nothing additional, just the knowledge that Sam is there.

If Spock and Jim merged into one being (no euphemism here lol) like Tuvix, what do you think the personality of the new being would be like? What impact do you think that would have had on the lives of both of them after they separated again? I love your headcanons, thanks for the answers!
thanks for the question!! <3
Hmmm... I think they would work pretty well as one being, actually. I'm thinking about all of those quotes from Roddenberry about how Kirk and Spock were supposed to represent two halves of a whole person, so I have to assume that they would be quite content. Though, disclaimer as I continue: I have not yet seen any of Voyager - there might be aspects of Tuvix's combination that I don't take into account because I don't know they exist. If so, uh, sorry. My bad.
For the sake of avoiding confusion, I'll call the merge Kirok (after the name Kirk chose when he lost his memories in The Paradise Syndrome). (Also, I fear that calling him "Kock" would have... deleterious effects on the readability of this post... for no reason at all...)
I do think that Kirok would, overall, have the best parts of Kirk and Spock. Combined, they are tactically fearsome. With Kirk's intuition and understanding of people and Spock's knowledge of statistics and science, Kirok is brilliant. However, I do think that Kirok would be a worse captain in practice than if Kirk and Spock simply had a mental bond. Part of the brilliance of Kirk and Spock as a command team is that, while they very much respect one another and take the other's opinion into account, they do also. regularly ignore each other's advice. And this is usually to their benefit! They each take risks that the other wouldn't, and, often, it saves them (in part because they always back each other up, even when doing things they don't agree with. Spock will be like "this is unwise" and Kirk will say "maybe, but I'm doing it anyways" and Spock will just... go with it.). But, if they were one person, I think that impulsiveness would be tempered. The Kirk part would have a brilliant idea, the Spock part would say "wait, there is too much risk, we can make a better plan," and then Kirok would lose his chance to act. When they're separate people Spock is ride-or-die for all of Kirk's decisions, but when they're one person, the Spock half won't always allow those decisions to be made at all (and also won't necessarily be able to tell when he does need to rein things in a bit). (Also Kirk and Spock both tend to be reckless, and then rely on the other to save them - as Kirok, who would back him up when he needed it? Bones would, but he's a medical officer. He simply can't do everything they would have. And, no matter how good of a first officer Kirok got (probably Sulu?), they couldn't be that good.)
I also think that Kirok wouldn't be quite as at ease with his position on the ship as Spock and Kirk individually were. The Spock part of him loves science far too much to just abandon it. He wants to spend time in the labs! He wants to make discoveries! Likewise the Kirk part of him can't truly be anything but a Captain. So, Kirok stays a captain, but he's less passionate about it (or, rather, more passionate about things that aren't it). This doesn't actually affect Kirok's satisfaction - it just affects his performance and relationships with others. He might spend off-duty time working on science experiments (which he can no longer do during shift, due to captaining) and neglect forming bonds with his crew, and he might place more focus than usual on scientific discovery missions.
As for the crew... Well, it's not as weird of a change as they expected. As expected, Kirok is less outwardly friendly than Kirk, and more outwardly friendly than Spock, but he's - cohesive. He still feels like their commanding officers. His humor tends to be a bit drier than Kirk's was, but he's a very compassionate and reasonable captain. (Tbh I tend to think that Kirk is actually more of a hardass than Spock (people just assume Spock is worse due to being Vulcan), so some crewmembers are surprised when Kirok is more lenient about certain things than Kirk would have been. Not lenient about cruelty or anything genuinely important to the safety of the ship, but about other things.) But, he's still not as good at making personal connections as Kirk was, and he's still inclined to spend too much time in the labs, so things aren't perfect.
Really, I think that the person having the worst time of things would be Bones, lmao. He'd have to deal with his Best Friend suddenly being the same person as The Guy He Affectionately Antagonizes (totally not a friend no how could you even think that). I think he'd be more lost than anyone else about how to address Kirok. Is this Kirk, his old friend, who he can be truly comfortable with, or is this Spock, who he snipes at and who snipes at him in turn? Who can he turn to, when the man he normally approaches for comfort is now the same being as one he doesn't want to seem too weak in front of? Does he turn to anyone else, in the meantime, or does he weather it alone?
Kirok himself, though, is actually pretty okay with the change. The different parts of himself simply - mesh well together. It's very satisfying for him, if not for his career and those around him. There's some minor bits of tension, especially regarding changes in biology and telepathic status, but, for the most part, he's doing well. The things you might expect to be major points of tension somehow... aren't. They compromise remarkably easily. (No meat, yes logic, no emotional suppression, yes casual touching, no casual relationships, yes meditation, etc.) And the Kirk and Spock parts of him both enjoy the closeness, the sense of knowing they now have for one another. They're one person, and know themself completely as they've always longed to know each other completely. (he does miss playing chess against someone who could beat him, though!)
Now, because I am Spirk-brained, I also think there's potential for Kirok to have Very Confused Feelings about discovering that the two parts of himself each had secret feelings for the other prior to the merge. There could be this odd sense of loss - like, yes, they are now technically one with one another, but they also completely missed out on their shot at a romantic relationship. They mourn what they could have had. The Spock part, especially, mourns the potentially for a telepathic bond (because with how smoothly they've integrated with one another, it surely would have been a strong one). So, as much as Kirok does enjoy existing as Kirok, I think he might be more willing to attempt separating back into two parts than I believe Tuvix was.
And, when they're two separate people again, they both feel like they're missing some part of themself, even once they've begun their new romantic relationship - but quickly discover that a mental link between them fills that hole. (And then, of course, because they are hopeless and in love, the "medicinal mental link" very quickly just becomes a marriage bond. They're like "well, we've already been one person and liked that well enough... a marriage bond is hardly anything different!" To Spock's endless pleasure, they are highly compatible and have a remarkably strong bond.) The mental link also allows them to have the same quick reaction times and combined brilliance of Kirok without the negative side effects of their own individual strengths being tempered. (they're also like. annoyingly codependent for a bit after Kirok's separation. oh boy are they always touching. "it gives them emotional security." bones looks at them in disgust (he loves it).)
Or, if we wanted to be McSpirk-brained... I'm enjoying the imagery of Kirok (who both had crushes on Bones as well as on one another) just directing all of that missed romantic potential onto Bones, who is... like, he's not not into it (Kirk was hot, Spock was hot, ergo Kirok is hot), but he also misses and loved his Original friends, and so he is very torn between accepting Kirok's advances and trying to find a way to split them apart again. (Flustered Bones, flustered Bones!! I do love flustered Bones!! He is blushing and stammering and having multiple ethical crises all at once. They never covered this in Starfleet Medical...) He also doesn't quite know whether Kirok's feelings truly belonged to both Kirk and Spock or not, and doesn't think that Kirk or Spock would truly act on it if they were in their normal state, so a small selfish part of him wonders if that's the only chance he has to be with them (even if it's not quite the same 'them' he fell in love with). And then, of course, there's the fear that trying to get back the original Kirk and Spock will actually just kill them! Yeah, poor Bones has a rough time of things. But, when everything is fixed, he does still wind up getting two boyfriends out of it. It all works out in the end?

Congratulations, you're now in charge of the Metallica movie of your dreams!!! 🥳 What will it be like?
handheld blair witch ass first person account of their formation through black album success. open casting call for look-a-likes who can act. not whatever B$ went into the casting for the new beatles movie (movies?)
OR
More realistically, some big producer will buy the rights to their biography.
If we HAVE to do it this way, Metallica biopic a la The Dirt, rather than any of the more high brow fare such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, that Bob Dylan movie i refuse to see bc I'm sick of chalamet. (See above re: beatles movie)
there is lowkey homoerotic tension between the james character and lars. Also james and Dave. Also dave and lars. ALSO lars and Kirk. ALSOOOOO James and Jason.
We lean into everyone's backstory. Even Rob. We see Rob in Suicidal doing his thing early on in the film. He isnt some 8th fiddle thrown in at the end.
There is a whole ass megadeth subplot. Dave is a thorn in their side the entire time.
All the hits, all the big ones:
Dave gets thrown out (NO WARNING NO SECOND CHANCE)
Kirk comes in
KEA, RTL, MOP
Cliff RIP (PANCAKES)
Jason audition and subsequent hazing and everyone's internal meltdown (WASABI INCIDENT ETC)
Seattle '89 bc I love it
Black album. Massive success. No notes.
Eternal tour. Show in Russia. Eternal tour.
HAIRCUTS
International radio play while the metalhead base rejects load, reload, garage, s&m
Jason quits (LEAVING BEHIND "SQUILLIONS" OF DOLLARS)
Omg what to even say about Napster (BEER GOOD) and skom (HE FOCKING LEFT THE BAND) and st anger (TICK TICK TICK) lol
then. FOREVER MONEY AND FAMILY LIFE. The last twenty years feels like smooth sailing compared to the rest of it. Yeah, Kirk and james got divorced and have new relationships/babies, but still. It just isnt as dramatic as the first half, let's be real. I feel like that part will just be the "ending on a positive note" thing.
anyway
