Aslan had always been into physical fitness, particularly during his time serving in the Turkish Armed Forces, but somehow, it had become an even bigger part of his life after his military career abruptly ended. He knew it was partly due to his accident and how he’d been required to get through several intense periods of physical therapy in order to avoid any long-term complications, but the larger part of it stemmed from needing something to ground his mind with. If he could focus on the steady one-two-punch cadence his fists beat out on the bag in front of him, it had a way of tempering the noise inside his head down into something he could use. And so that was why he found himself at the gym, day after day, his only aim being to leave there a better version of himself than the one that had walked in.

He’d just finished his last rep when he saw it– or heard it, more accurately. Dropping his taped hands down to his sides, he narrowed his eyes and tipped his head to the side, straining to hear what was being said. Already, he didn’t like the tone the male was using with the woman, even if he hadn’t heard all of the one-sided dialogue. Aslan didn’t need to– the rude tone was more than enough to set his feet in motion before his mind had a chance to catch up and try to get him to take a beat before intervening.  The closer he got, the more he could clearly decipher what the guy was saying– how he was berating this woman for being slower than he found acceptable and taking up time on the equipment. Nope, that wasn’t going to fly, not with Aslan, and especially not when he could see how this fucking Neanderthal looking son of a bitch was affecting her. “Hey–,” he called out, inserting himself between the two of them, his back to her and his shoulders squared in front of the male, “there a problem over here?” His tone was ice cold compared to the white hot flame of rage he could already feel flickering beneath the surface of his skin. He inched closer, his jaw firmly set as he regarded him, “You need to walk away– now.”
