A reminder for everyone, as a non sharer to the whole selfshipping community!

A Boundary is not controlling other people's behaviour.

A Boundary is "IF you choose to do this thing, I will do this thing."

Example:

'If you selfship with my nonsharing F/O, you can't interact with me!' - Not a boundary. Not everyone is going to be able to see it, and some people are going to ignore it.

'If you selfship with my nonsharing F/O, I will block you if you interact with me!' - A boundary. You've stated that if people take X action, you will take Y action in response.

And this goes for everything you might put on your DNI. From sharers, to discourse stances, to shipping preferences, to whatever else you don't want to be around.

Your DNI is up to YOU to enforce. Not everyone is going to see it. Not everyone is going to listen to it. Regardless of what side of whatever thing you are on.

Does it feel shit when people force you to take an action? Yeah! I don't like blocking people really.

But the only way to HAVE boundaries is to know that it is on YOU to enforce them. You and only you.

Tl;Dr - you cannot control other people. Block those that you don't want interacting with you, that is your job. DNIs are statement of boundaries and you have to enforce those boundaries and not assume that people will know them/read them/follow or respect them.

Honestly, I am also surprised no one has shown you Adventure Time yet! It’s really good and another nostalgia trigger. The show’s premise is, uh… well, Finn Mertens in the last human, and he has a shape-shifting sentient dog as a brother, Jake, because Finn was adopted by Jake’s parents. They go on those wacky, funny adventures at first… and then, it spirals to tragedy. Fern is amongst my favorites, alongside Marceline, Flame Princess, BMO, Finn, Ice King, and Princess Bubblegum. But ESPECIALLY Marceline and Fern — both are just so tragic. No spoilers, though!

Also, Regular Show. That one is very crazy and nonsensical, even more so than Adventure Time. It’s not as much of a nostalgia trigger for me, because… I didn’t like it a lot as a kid. Although, nowadays, Benson is my favorite character. Also, there’s a blue jay as a protagonist! So, Regular Show follows the premise of two twenty-three-years-old guys, Mordecai and Rigby, that are, well, slackers at their job. They and their co-workers have very surreal adventures that sometimes border the end of the world. It’s not my kind of humor, though, I think you’d like it. The Margaret and Mordecai plot IS CRABBING HELL, though!

Anyways, that might be me just being romance-averse. Who knows?

And a little question… this may sound insane, but what do you think of SU’s Jasper? I unironically love her! Why? Uh, that’d be spoilers. She hasn’t shown up much yet, so… I won’t say much, to not spoil.

Selfshippers with any sort of OCD, Intrusive Thoughts or Disordered Thinking:

Your F/O(s) doesn't think for a second that you're disgusting or dangerous or anything of the sort. They know your thoughts are out of your control and are not based on your beliefs.

If you have nightmares, your F/O(s) are right there to comfort you, whether that's hugs, turning on lights or music, bringing you water, or just sitting nearby until you feel safer.

If something they do triggers you, they'll change that behaviour immediately. You're much more important than whatever habits they may have.

If you're struggling to take care of yourself, your F/O(s) will bring you food, help clean your space, and offer to share baths or showers with you to encourage you.

If you're struggling to remember your medications, they'll set whatever reminders they have to so that they remember for you.
