dark YA fantasy

follows three students accepted into their elite magic school’s honor class, which if they pass, will forgive their student debt

however: their professor is a devil, and the only assignment is to kill him. any student who fails an attempt, dies

the teacher’s pet has a plan to get him self and his best friends - two soft-hearted & absent minded girls - to pass the class and secure their future, but first he has to figure out how to kill a seemingly unkillable devil…

No offense to the girls they’re very nice he’s just the most Abnormal (despite trying not to b #I really enjoyed the fabian/mia friendship too. tbh I would have liked a little more of the development of the friendships -#sometimes it felt a bit too fast paced and we didn’t get enough of them.#(also. comping to my blorbos and then doing THAT. i did expect it though)#the concept of severing your soul from your body to do magic is interesting!#even if every time it mentioned severance i was like omg the hit show on apple tv.#and maybe I didn’t entirely grasp the details of how it worked but that doesn’t always matter #Parts of the wider worldbuilding are a little vague; but I also did enjoy some of the little details -#like the fashions of appearing inkstained or having book pages embossed into your cheek to show you’re So Academic #the Professor is also a very good character - his and fabian’s dynamic is sooo good #anyway. what horrible things and situations student debt and unfair institutions will force these kids into huh!!#all 3 MCs have a bit of a romance but they're certainly not central to the plot what with all the trying not to die going on #euphemia is a lightly acespec coded lesbian/sapphic
