am I the only one who’s insane about how in 12 final days when roger is at his anxious peak about the beginning of the laver cup, apprehensively approaching and greeting the group of players in the event center, djokovic is the one to let him know impartially that he is wearing a tux shirt and not a suit shirt, wherein roger still has the time to go change which he does, and this is right after the movie frames the still remaining tense dynamic between the two and djokovic’s vaguely inexplicable and ambiguous reason for showing up today

​… …. like it’s the fact that is showing up for roger and being friendly and sympathetic and in moments like these, roger visibly awkward and not knowing where they stand, he is almost tender and all signs point to positive relationship, but he also somehow holds a relaxed almost pleased air throughout the flurry of everyone crying and mourning …

Cherie was wandering about the pavilion, in search of her next meal. Debating her options, she stood off to the side. The purpose of participation on this trip, for Cherie, was more to get time in with folks to build relationships and establish herself as a Merrockite. However, the venture into getting to know others was interrupted when the first person she spotted nearby was her ex-husband. "Hello Rafael."

the last place rafael expected to be is in a room with his ex wife, but just this once he’d face her for two people he cares about. he usually loves weddings, the romance, the public display of two people’s love. it all is very touching and sweet. today, he’s all in his head, but he has a plan. he needs to seem okay— like he’s moving on. that’s where venus comes in. he could’ve asked anyone to be his plus one, but he feels more comfortable in awkward situations with venus around because of how they met. it was a little weird asking her if she’d be his (fake) date to a wedding because he was nervous to see his ex with her date. the ceremony went fine, he held her hand the entire time for his sake. all they have to do is get through the reception and he’ll be fine. he’s sitting next to venus with a drink in his hand. he’s had two so far. “you look very pretty in your dress..” he peels his eyes off of olivia and turns to venus and smiles. “thank you for doing this for me; coming to this wedding with me. i wouldn’t be able to get through it without you. i apologize in advance for any singing requests.” he chuckles, shaking his head. it was a lot of pushback from the bride when he asked if he could bring a date at the last minute, now she’s eager to meet his date. it’s funny how quickly she changed her mind about venus when she learned who he was bringing. “do you want a drink?” he asks, placing their intertwined hands in his lap.

One thing that Rafael did have over Casey and Alex is that he left the DA’s office by choice, no one tried to kill him and he wasn’t suspended just emotionally scarred and traumatized for the rest of his life

really interesting to hear Rafa talk about how there used to be more interactions between players on the tour when he started out because the teams were smaller and that made life on tour happier and funnier

It's so unfair we didn't have more (if any) scenes with Rafael as Eduardo. The real Eduardo said in interview that he loves people/gatherings. I would have loved scenes where Eduardo is 24/7 hanging from Marcelo's arm, rambling on and on about everything and nothing and Marcelo just nods and hums 🥲

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the real Eduardo - that he's kind, thoughtful, insightful, extraordinarily friendly, and an overall joy to talk to. When you think about how the Strauches in the movie were written to be three aspects of the same character, it's easy to see how much Eduardo represented the heart of the trio.

But I agree, it's a real shame that we didn't really get to see a lot of that in the film. (GIVE ME THE 600 HOUR EDIT, BAYONA.) There are little glimpses of moments - like when it's Eduardo who first brings up the conversation about food to Marcelo. You can see that both Daniel and Fito are staring at him, and to me it really does imply that they went to Eduardo and told him that he had to be the one to bring it up. After all, Marcelo's his best friend. If he'd listen to anyone it would be him! I always felt like there was a missing scene in there. The other detail I enjoyed was towards the very end of the film, Eduardo rides in an ambulance with Coche and is with him when he's wheeled out on a stretcher. Then in the final shot of the film, he's not sitting with his cousins but is instead sitting with some of the younger/sicker boys in the group. Eduardo was the one who was especially protective of the youngest and weakest members of their group and so even though they're little background moments, it's really nice to see. (The movie is full of a lot of little background details like that.)

Still, you're right though and it's a shame that we didn't get to see much of him, particularly how important his friendship with Marcelo was. (They were best friends since they were 7 years old!) Oh well, that's why fanfic exists!

In the meantime, here is all the crumbs I have - a BTS photo which is the closest we'll ever get to seeing Eduardo and Marcelo being bros in the movie.

[Rafael and Sonny are in the office. Rafael has a musicals Spotify playlist on shuffle. "Die Vampire, Die" from [title of show] comes on. Rafael is singing along a lot more than he has been the past couple of songs.]

Song: 🎶First up, are you pigmy vampires. They’ll swarm around your head like gnats and say things like: "Your teeth need whitening." "You went to state school?" "You sound weird." "Shakespeare, Sondheim, Sedaris" did it before you and better than you!

Sonny (a minute or so later): *(lightheartedly)* You're my pigmy vampire.

Rafael: *(lifts his head and directs a questioning stare at him)* ...how?

Sonny: You always make jabs about Fordham. *(gestures to his study materials)*

Rafael: *(gives him a stare that's equal parts unamused, confused, and offended)* Yes, jabs. "Pigmy vampires" are malicious. They want you to doubt yourself or quit.

[Sonny doesn't answer, just nods and shrugs in acceptance of this correction. Rafael just inadvertently said he believes in him.]

LOCATION: the hospital, seba's "office"

THE LIFE HE WAS living now was certainly a far cry from what seba had anticipated -- practically ripping his hair out over a medical textbook all for the hope of success. security. and yet, while he had found himself successful in harnessing this new world of medicine -- he felt anything but secure. that's what the quarantine zones were for, to give their inhabitants some form of normalcy and the ability to ignore the disintegrating world outside of its walls. and yet, his self-doubt was constantly getting in the way. wondering if he was doing enough, protecting the people of this city, his people. to be entrusted with such a position in such a dire time was anything but easy... and he wanted nothing more than to be the right man for the job.

he had made himself some kind of makeshift office in his time at the hospital -- a space for him to organize some kind of system to keep him grounded. for despite the warm, gentle smile seba often plastered on his face, with every passing day -- he could feel his control waining.

he's glad to no longer be alone as he hears a pair of shoes connect with the floor -- turning the corner to examine his surroundings. the tension in his shoulders ease as his eyes lock with a familiar face, arms crossing over his chest when seconds later, he realizes why.

he has seen rafael many a time after returning from a collection, his body possessing varying degrees of ware. this time, however, he doesn't know how anyone could miss the bruises. his face falls -- now one of concern to a degree that he was once taught to avoid. however, he was born caring about others.

venus is on the european leg of her latest tour and the next show just happens to be in london. she had reached out to him so his younger cousin could come to the show. he has to take her so, he’s been in london for a few days, spending time with his family. while he enjoys seeing them, he really couldn’t wait to see his ex again. deciding not to wait until the show tomorrow, he picked up a personalized bouquet of flowers from his local florist and some chocolate for her. with that task completed he drives to her hotel and texts her once he’s inside of the lobby. he’s sure to exclude that he’s personally delivering her surprise. he plans to drop off her gifts and invite her to his family’s dinner tonight. hey i have a surprise for you downstairs in the lobby, it’s waiting for you at the front desk. hitting send, raf stands and waits for her to come down. he wants her to feel welcome and this is his solution.

i love betty, and i know this is probably just coincidental and/or me reading too deeply into it, but her line about being in charge of town decorations and how lucky she is to have pablo to help her............... having seen Rafael's cutscenes in a previous save............ like betty, ma'am, are you absolutely sure rafael is not also there helping, but he's quietly going about it where pablo is probably chatting with you the entire time?
