Something I really like is that April’s constant stream of odd jobs she goes through is somewhat reflected in the boys as well. Like, you have April working at random pizza places or getting a crane license or being fully willing to apply for a job at a place clearly made out of cardboard. Then you have the boys as well who do anything from working as a basketball mascot, building a massive dog park, being waiters, getting a whole band gig at a theme park, etc, etc-

Main difference is that April actively applies for these jobs (and is hopefully paid for the short time she’s in them) whereas for the bros the jobs usually find them (and they practically never get paid.) It doesn’t even stop at jobs either, they just seem to casually amass skills in general.

I don’t know, I like how both April and the turtles are just so ready and willing to do things. Sure, they’re not always good at these things, but they do them readily! In a way, being heroes is just another job (well, more like volunteer work/vigilantism/another fun activity) that they initially took on because of their general sense of “why not?”

They’re very willing and open to trying out new things despite their tendency to revert back to what they enjoy (and how commonly trying new things ends up going wrong), and I think that adaptational interest of theirs really helps them be well rounded in multiple regards.

i don't think feixiao was always aware of just how much value a single life holds. she grew up in a borisin war camp, a place where people were constantly killing and dying and being replaced. in such conditions, it's hard to convince yourself that individual lives have any meaning at all. when she first joins the verdant knights, it isn't because she cares about saving others. she was always surrounded by death, so her motive was simple and vengeful. i want the borisin dead.

feixiao learns of the value of life when she loses her friend, and she only fully understands it when she watches the hunt's arrow take general yueyu and her soldiers as well. that day, she realizes the true cost of a "shooting star" -- total destruction does not discriminate between friend and foe. even though her childhood was cruel, it's not nearly as haunting as the chill of lan's arrow. from then onwards, feixiao's nightmares are not about running from her captors; they're about the people she couldn't save.

in her last character story, feixiao takes the long way home, listening to the sounds of a bustling market from the other side of a wall. she marvels at the sound of children, perhaps because the younger version of her could have never imagined so much life in one place. she says to herself, "what a wonderful time this is". and finally, when hoolay asks her what she fights for, she says this:

So that just one more person can live and return to the Yaoqing alongside me.

feixiao was not always altruistic. she was not always willing to give up her life for other people -- in fact, her very first "mistake" was running from the borisin without looking back, abandoning her friend in the process. but honestly, that makes her goodwill all the more admirable.

Miqo March Day #25 - Fate

I've seen headcanons of Phoenix Wright having heterochromia; either due to him being born with it or due to head trauma via fire extinguisher in AA2. They often come with headcanons of why he'd hide them with colored contacts, of course.

But I haven't heard anyone bring up the headcanon of Phoenix's eye turning blue because of Dahlia's bottle pendant.

First off, the poison Dahlia used had possible side effects including loss of pigmentation and eye damage. This is evident in Diego Armando's hair turning white and vision problems.

Fun fact: blue eyes aren't caused by blue pigmentation. In fact, they have little to no pigmentation at all. The blue we see is just light reflecting weirdly until only blue light is all we perceive from them.

Secondly, the poisoned pendant Phoenix ate in Turnabout Memories was empty at the time, but the risk of it containing leftover traces was very real. He even chewed it, raising the chances of those traces entering his system.

Diego had a significantly higher dose than Phoenix, but let's not forget Dahlia had faith that 1 contaminated pill of Cold Killer X would do the trick. Even if there was less than a drop remaining in that bottle, it had the potential to at least do some damage.

Damage that could result in the loss of pigmentation in someone's eyes.

the worst part is i can't even say he's wrong. they certainly did figure out how to contribute the city by joining the wrgp. but like. this is one of those things where it literally does not make sense. this is insane levels of logic. "we're not sure how to contribute to the city. we think entering a magic the gathering tournament will help." like. imagine saying that fr when your parents ask what you're going to do after you graduate college. "idk. thought i'd play card games and figure it out, man"

periodically my brother wanders into my texts to try to explain his theory of reality to me. his theory is that human experience and love are fundamental to the universe and the most real thing, more real than physics, and in fact they create physics— until i reply to ask clarifying questions about this theory or describe my arguments against it, in which case it shifts to be only a claim about human society only for the duration of the next three texts before going back. when i eventually point out that these don't agree with each other he says that's because actually the true idea is inexpressible and this is just its nature. then i ask why he thinks it will work to communicate an inexpressible idea that requires inconsistency over the span of a conversation, and why, if he's trying to do that, he opened by trying to claim that science is wrong because it claims human emotions are an identical time-invariant experience for everyone over their lifespan and then abandoned that claim as soon as i pointed out that science absolutely doesn't say that even a little. then he says actually the idea is His Whole Self and then stops texting me back

i realize i should just stop before the first step where i respond but i want to talk to my brother! and i want to show him the respect of actually trying to engage with things he says to me! and none of this bothers me enough to not want to do those things! but also, christ
