I came up with an AU idea but the NU (Nicktoons Unite) discord server is probably still asleep so I'm gonna post it here first this time. I'll probably post it a bit later on the NU server (and send a link to this post for the additional info bc I'm way too lazy to write it twice and I find it hard to copypaste from Tumblr).

hiiii chy!! your insert OCs are so cute... how do you choose names for them? i'm always curious about oc/canon artists' thought processes, especially when the names are different from theirs! i hope this is not too invasive!

Hello! And it’s not invasive to ask!

For picking names for self inserts or OCs, it really depends on the genre or wherever the canon character’s source material takes place in. Like if the character is from the future/space and I want to make my self insert an alien or whatever, I go with space related names. Same if a canon character is from medieval times, I go with medieval names. I try, or at least use to, just pick names that started with “C” because of my real name, but now I just pick names that have some meaning behind them to go with my sonas’ designs. Like Angela (my WIR self insert) is based on Angel Food Cake so I went with that name. Or for my SBSP self insert being named Coraline because it has “Coral” in the name and goes with the sea related names that the other characters in the show have. Again you don’t really have to pick out different names, you can use whatever name/nickname you go by for all of your self inserts really. I mostly only pick different names for self inserts that aren’t human, other then that they are just called Chy/Cheyenne lol

SBSP Universe

Ceres is The Roman Goddess of The Harvest, Grain, Agriculture, and Fertility as well as the Sister of Empress Juno and Vesta and even the Mother of Lady Proserpina. Her Greek Counterpart is Demeter. Ceres is very Practical, Patient, Devoted, and Nurtring. She mainly handles her own duity as a Harvest Goddess very well for she enjoys growing Crops and Plants as well as havesting the Wheat. Despite mostly being the Quite Goddess she is, she can sometimes be pretty uptight, especially when she can act way overprotective of her precious Daughter (Proserpina), only because she cares very much of her Daughter and does not want anything bad happening to her. Needless to say, she's a Rather Good Goddess with her own Good Manners and prefers everything to be just fine. She sometimes has trust issues like that times that she would always knew about Jupiter and Mercury's own tricks since she would often feel something suspicous around other people. When Proserpina came into her world, that is when things around her started to change when she became a Mother, she worked very hard on her dueties despite that she was also still taking care of Proserpina. Needless to say, she was very lonely at first and thought if she could have a child of her own, so she created her own flower which blossomed up a child of her own. She loved her daughter very much and made herself a vow as a promise to take very good care of her as well as being protective of her so that way she wouldn't allow to see her own Daughter get hurt. As the years go by when Proserpina kept growing up, that was when Ceres started to become a Helicopter Mother. One time, when Phoebus was singing a Beautiful Song in front of Proserpina, Ceres thought that Phoebus was trying to woo her with his love for music as Ceres kicked Phoebus right out in front of her own Daughter. After having a quick embrassement with Proserpina, Ceres' Daughter left her own Mother despite the fact that Ceres was still very disappointed in her daughter, not realizing her actual mistake in the first place. But when she finds out that her Daughter was found missing, she asked Trivia if she knew where her Daughter went but only Trivia heard screams as they then asked the Roman God of the Sun (Sol) if he knew where Ceres' Daughter went to which Sol replies that he saw Proserpina falling down when an earthquake shake which made Ceres shocked and yet heartbroken, her own heart caused upon an entire snow storm (even in the ocean) where all of the Crops and Plants died, causing the birth of Winter to blossom.

When the Gods had to deal up with the New Weather, they tried literally everything to cheer Ceres up (who sat down in the chair of her temple, crying for the loss of her Daughter). Eventually, when there came a time where Jupiter was finally done with it, he asked Ceres what was truly troubling her. Ceres then explain to Jupiter that she had lost her one true Daughter (Proserpina) and that it was her fault for she truly realize that she was being a helicopter parent all along. Jupiter knew what must be stop for Ceres' power of this Crazy Blizzard for coming, so the Roman King of the Gods sent out Mercury to take Proserpina out of Pluto's lair. As Proserpina was out of the Underworld, Mercury then noticed something suspicous from Proserpina as she called them out between Mother and Daughter for their own reuion was actually very short-lived due to how that Proserpina actually ate some Pomegrante Seeds in the Underworld. Ceres felt deveasted of what her own Daughter had done, she was afraid never to see her own child again but Jupiter came up with a plan so that Proserpina would at least stay on both sides for each Two Seasons of the Four of every each year. Only then, would Proserpina visit her Mother for Spring and Summer and visit her Husband (Pluto) for Winter and Fall since Pluto apologized to Ceres of what had happen on earth but Ceres now knew and had fully understand that her own child was finally all grown up and be able to live as a Spiritual Goddess between Life and Death on her own. She's a very good friend to King Neptune as Neptune highly respects Ceres as the two do share a strong platonic relationship. She strongly has a dislike for Mr. Krabs only because of his Greed for Money, though she is indeed curious about SpongeBob's fun nature since he reminded her of his Ancient Greek Ancestor.

In her Seven-Day April festival of Cerealia included the popular Ludi Ceriales (known as "Ceres' Games"). She was also honoured in the May Iustration of the Fields at the Ambarvalia festival at harvest time and during Roman Marriages and funreal rites. She is actually the only one of Rome's many agricultural deities to be listed among the "Dii Consentes" (the Roman Equivalent of The Greek's "Twelve Olympians").

Aroud in the Roman Myth of Beginnings, Ceres was the Middle Daughter to be eaten by her Father (Saturn) because the Father feared of a prophecy that one day his children will overthrow him. When Jupiter was the last born to survive, he tricked their Father into drinking a posinous drink, causing the prunktation of the Two Brothers (Pluto and Neptune) and The Three Sisters (Juno, Ceres, and Vesta) to join their Brother and even battle against their Father and the Titans in the Titanomachy.

The Most Famous Myth involved around Ceres is the Story of her Daughter (Proserpina) and the Underworld God of one of her Brothers (Pluto). When Pluto saw the lovely Proserpina, he procucded to kidnap her which cause Ceres in such heartbroken and grief after finding out the truth thanks to Trivia (The Roman Goddess of Witchcraft) for Ceres caused an entire snow storm of Winter where all living things (especially Crops) had to die. What Jupiter saw what was happening around on earth, he called out Mercury to bring Ceres' Daughter out of the Underworld, but only then did Mother and Daughter had a short reunion because Proserpina was eating Pomegrante Seeds in the Underworld (those who will eat the Underworld's food, their Souls must never leave the Land of the Dead, but there was a deal for Proserpina for the Four Seasons on Earth; if Spring and Summer were here, it would be Mother (Ceres) and Daughter (Proserpina), but if there was Winter and Fall, there would be Husband (Pluto) and Wife (Proserpina).

Oh sure! I feel like I did this before but I can't find the original post so I'll do it again 👌

I don't particularly ship any of the sb characters so its going to be mostly my thoughts.

Squidbob - 6.5/10 - I'm going to get hate but I never cared for the sunshine x grumpy ships. I don't hate it. In fact it's probably the only type of sunshine x grumpy ship that I'm not completely indifferent to. Spongebob is super affectionate towards squid and Squid doesn't want to admit he cares for him but he does. It already has a good set up. Its cute. I'm not a ride or die for it but its nice.

Tho for a long time I assumed Squid was way older than Spongebob (before the age changes from kamp koral) which is also why I never got around to shipping them. I think squid is still a little older but by 2-3 years.

Patbob - 6.5/10 - Same rating as squidbob. Tho I prefer silly x silly ships so I feel like I'll be a little biased towards this one. I feel like I previously would have given this a lower rating but recent episodes make me like it a little bit more. Particularly more recent episodes showing hoe much Patrick cares for spongebob and defends him and even gets a little jealous when someone else gets some of SB's affection. Its too cute and I want more of it <3 I'll just pretend the jerky Patrick episodes don't exist.

Patsquid - 6/10. - a recent one! Episodes like Squisery and Pat Hearts Squid is what prompted it. I never thought Squidward and Patrick would ever get along but they do! And very well. Patrick is very enthusiastic to learn and do whatever Squid is learning and Squidward has someone who's actually interested in him. Patrick is very malleable and Squidward can easily mold him into what he wants. But even without that, they can have fun together. Unexpected duo but one I really enjoy watching.

Spandy - 3/10 - I remember folks on DA were ride or die for this ship. I on the other hand just don't see it. She's like a big sister figure to him. This is the one ship I just can't get around to liking. Its just there. No beef to anyone who likes it.

Plabs - 7.5/10 - the angst fics and stuff are what makes it interesting. SB fans took the episode Friend or Foe and used it to fuel most of this ship. That episode sits on the shoulders of god. On a surface level they don't seem much interesting. Two enemies who fight every week or so. But the show ended up developing their relationship a lot in seasons 4-5 and folks just can't let it go. Two childhood best friends who ended up having a fight and falling out with each other. But they still fight as adults just so they can see each other. Both of them getting depressed when the other has "moved on". They can't be together because of pride but they also can't stand to be apart from each other. High quality fanfiction material.

They like each other but they also would never admit it. But one would sabotage the other so they'd never leave them. They have so much potential. I wish more recent episodes would go into this further. I really want more of it.

Idk they sorta remind me of the quote "You construct intricate rituals which allow you to touch the skin of other men" Yeah that's these two specifically.

I really want to see these two break the cycle and actually face their feelings lol

Plankaren - 2/10 - if we're talking about the musical characters tho then it gets 7/10. But in the main show. Nah. Plankton is just horrible to Karen. I feel sorry for her a lot of the time. She desperately wants his affection but this man would rather smooch his enemy than her. I get why she's like that. She should poison her husband. As a lil treat <3

Tho their musical counterparts are super cute. Two evil geniuses who want to take over the world and their love is fueled by their lust for tyranny. A match made in heaven <3

Karendy - 8/10 - super cute! I didn't expect to care for it much but recent episodes proved otherwise. They get along so well. Karen really has a type for geniuses. Except Sandy is actually nice to her and compliments her and the recent Gal Pals only made me enjoy their duo even more. I want more of it.

Puffkrabs - 5.5/10. I find the episode Krusty Love so cute and I would've given them a higher rating if I was just talking about that episode but male characters in SB often have a track record of being shit boyfriends/husbands so yeah. I REALLY don't like the direction their relationship has been going as of recent. I guess its inevitable but I always thought it was sweet that Krabs liked Puff so much that he didn't care about money for a moment. Also the fact that their both likely widows/widowers makes it somewhat interesting to me. But of course bad habits die hard and Mr. Krabs's love of money is harming their relationship and they nearly broke up. That's not even the main problem, since she doesn't care about money much. It's just him being a problem. Idk its kinda sad. I wish it could've been better but at least she isn't in Karen's shoes.

Squilliam/Squidward - 6.5/10 - (can't remember the ship name for this one) who doesn't want to see former high school sweethearts constantly feeling the need to one up each other? Of course they were never confirmed to be high school sweethearts but that's what I like to imagine where their beef began.

We have that thing where Squidward trying to imagine Squilliam in his underwear then going "oh no he's hot!". That's kinda fruity.

We have so many episodes where Squidward feels the need to impress Squilliam. Why do you as a man feel the need to impress other men? 🤔 and the bikini bottom inquirer episodes has Squilliam regularly call the news channel just to rant about Squidward. Squilliam always wants to act like he's so much better but if he was then he probably wouldn't be so obsessed with Squidward that he feels the need to call strangers on the news just to rant about him. Also I think Squilliam is probably pretty isolated so he likely has no one else to talk to. I feel like Perch allows Squilliam to call up just to talk smack about his ex knowing this guy still isn't over his feelings for him.

I enjoy the drama between two bitter exes. Makes for excellent entertainment. 👌

Larry/Squidward - 5.5/10 - they could have had it aaaaaall. The episode Squid plus one is what prompted this. They make for good friends and even more. But neither have much respect for each other's interests so they fell out. But imagine if they did learn respect for each other's interests? What if they held hands? They looked so happy with each other💔😿

Gale/Perch - 5.5/10 there's not much to go off of. They're both work at the news station. One is a reporter and the other is a weather guy. I feel like SB has a crush on Gale tho. I think this ship is more for self indulgence than any interesting character development. Still no beef. I kinda do want to see them interact more.

Squill/Perch - 6/10 - Squilliam constantly calling in to vent about Squidward is hilarious. Perch I'd just over it but instead of blocking Squilliam, he allows him to talk. There's potential in this. Rn Perch is probably Squilliam's only ""friend"" and is the only one he can really talk to. They can support each other and be friends. Or even more. Its funny i would've never thought this ship would be a thing but the bikini bottom inquirer is fueling content for it.

Slapferatu 5.5/10? - A recent contender! It's literally goth Squidbob. Kinda on the fence for this one. I like it but I somewhat don't know what to feel about it. Same grumpy x sunshine dynamic except its made spooky 👻. I like spooky things so its a little bit more digestable. I kinda want to see them interact a little bit more so I can judge better but the episodes we have, has some interesting stuff. Slappy is down BAD for Nosferatu. I mean that comes with being the Renfield in their relationship. Somehow I always thought Nosferatu would be much more harsher to Slappy like in a slapstick kind of way. Like barely tolerating him and being this 👌 close to killing him but doesn't because no one else would work for him. But he actually does like Slappy quite a bit and shows a lil affection, he treats him a lot nicer than I expected. Its sweet.

Also Slappy is self admitted to liking abuse. So uhh if he does get smacked around by Nosferatu then you know its consensual.

Still, uhh I kinda don't like how Slippy is getting sidelined by all this. I didn't know what to make of her when she was first introduced but now I like her and I like how she has a silly x silly thing going on with Laszlo so it's a little sad. SB characters stop being shit to ur gf/wife challenge. Tho I think she'd probably is fine with Laszlo devoting his undead life and soul to a vampire. I feel like she knows and she's fine with it. Probably gives him tips on how to woo the vampire.

There's some kind of absurdity to this ship because we have a 1922 german horror movie character being shipped with a fish parody of a dead Hungarian actor. If you use human!Slappy in this ship you'll see what I mean. There's also the same absurdity with Slippy/Slappy because they're both fish parodies of Peter Lorre. How does that work.

Idk if Slippy/Slappy is with mentioning on this list because there's not much to go off. So uhh yeah.

Anyways shout out to that one person who began shipping Slapferatu the moment the synopsis for Slappy Daze dropped. You're too powerful to live.

Izanami

The Japanese Goddess of Creation and Death, The Wife/Sister of Izanagi. She is also the Mother of Kagutsuchi and Mizuhanome. Her Name means “She-Who-Invites” or “Female-Who-Invites”. The First Japanese Deities (Kunitokotachi and Amenominakanushi) created Izanagi and Izanami, only then did these two Deities create a land of their own, They even had a spear of their own covered in Jewels (Amenonuhoko) which helped them created their lands after when the Couple went to the Bridge between Land and Earth. Onogoroshima was the very first creation of their Land since it was their Home as the Two Primordial Deities created the World such as the Other Lands besides their own Island. They once had Two Children named Hiruko (who would go on to become “Ebisu”, one of the Japanese Seven Gods of Fortune) and Awashima. Both of which were deformed and weren’t really considered to be Deities. They put their first children in a Boat and set them out to Sea which petitioned the Other Gods for an answer of what they did wrong. They were told that a God should’ve been spoken first in greeting during the Marriage Ceremony. So Izanagi and Izanami went around the Pillar again, this time Izanagi was speaking first on how they met which made their Marriage finally successful. After their marriage was redone, they became the Progenitors of Many Gods that represented each aspect of Nature. They bore more islands and more deities. However, what became a huge change towards their marriage was leading into the birth of Kagutsuchi (The Japanese Fire God) as Izanami died during her Last Childbirth. After their Last Child of Fire burned his Mother to Death during pregnancy, Izanami ended up in Yomi (The Japanese Underworld that was filled with Monsters such as the Oni). Izanagi went to Yomi so he could rescue his Wife and bring her Back. When he found her, he walked closer with the Light in his hand and saw his Wife horrifying and dead. She sent out Other Evil Spirits to attack her Brother/Husband but Izanagi escaped as he blocked the Exit of Yomi. Izanami cried as she screamed since her Husband left her, that means she would’ve killed 1,000 people from the land every day. Her Brother was furious because he would’ve given life to 1,500 people. Izanami became the Goddess of the Dead and even the Queen of Yomi, thus, she never went back with her Husband after her Childbirth Death.

SBSP Universe

Lady Izanami is The Japanese Goddess of Death and Creation, the Ex-Wife of Izanagi, the Mother of Susanno, Amaterasu, and Kagutsuchi. She is the Lady of the Japanese Underworld, Yomi. She seems very Vengeful and Temperamental as she’s Heartbroken for the fact that her Husband left her in Yomi. Although Izanagi tried to have her back as she did loved him, she felt like that she was blinded by Anger due to the fact that her former beloved Izanagi didn’t listen to her dying breath after when she died of Childbirth when she gave birth to their Last Child (Kagutsuchi). Unlike Hel, she’s actually very strict in being the Lady of Yomi since she often takes care of the Japanese Evil Spirits including some of the Yokai Creatures (mostly the Oni) and mainly watches over the Dead. Yomi is downright the scariest place of all of the Underworlds as it’s much scarier compared to the Other Lords’ own Underworlds. When she gets really angry as she gets more badly-tempered, she can scream and turn her face into a horrifying skull face as if it was melted and burned horribly with dark tears tripping over while her hair grows long due to her Anger (in this case, she has prehensile hair). She and Izanagi met when they were both Young Adults as Izanagi promised to Izanami that they would make the entire world a better place. They agreed as they created new lands for each of the World and gained an Entire Clan of Gods. Izanami bore Izanagi their own Children (Susanno and Amaterasu). As the years went by, they were very much a loving Family growing up when Susanno and Amaterasu were toddlers but when Izanami got pregnant the Third Time, they were expecting a Third Sibling in their own Children’s lives but she ended up getting sick through pregnancy. When Kagutsuchi came into the World, Izanagi was overjoyed to finally have a Second Son but he didn’t notice that his wife was dying so he went to Yomi to find her. Only then, what he found in his wife was a terrifying Dead Woman with a Melting-Like Skull on her Face as Black Tears dripped down from her Face which terrified the Japanese God as Izanami sent out other Demons to attack her Husband for not realizing his Wife’s dying breathe as Izanagi closed the Underworld with a Bounder to keep the Demons out of it. Soon, the Two were now divorced as Izanagi never went back to her Family where she now had to rule over Yomi as her New Home with the Oni as her New People. Although even if she does miss her Family, her Son (Susanno) would always often visit his Mother since Susanno was a Mama’s Boy who missed Her very much. She doesn’t like Neptune and she completely despises Poseidon because of how much he reminded her of her Ex-Love. Although she does get along with Pluto and Hades, she’s not a fan of Other Non-Death Deities. She’s part of the Five Lords and Two Ladies of the Underworld. She completely despises The Flying Dutchman for how he messes around with Death. She also represents Envy due to how she’s very jealous seeing Couples who are Happy together that reminded Her and Izanagi’s Former Love. She would hate SpongeBob and his Friends but Plankton would be the only Sea Creature that she would like.

Kali

The Hindu Goddess of Doomsday, Time, and Death. One of the Wives of Shiva. In Hinduism, she is considered and depicted as a ferocious goddess in a form from Durga (The Hindu Goddess of Protection, Strength, and War). She is the First of the Ten Mahavidyas. In one of her Most Earliest Appearances is when she emerged from Shiva (The Hindu God of Destruction) as she was regarded as the ultimate manifestation of Shakti (The Primordial Cosmic Energy) and even the Mother of All Living Beings. She is stated to destroy Evil and even to protect the Innocent. In Hindu Myths, Durga was out on a War with the Matrikas fighting off the Demon (Raktabija) along with his own Minions of Other Demons. When a blood drip from Raktabija, a duplicate of Himself pops up, causing the War to be more difficult. This caused Durga to get even more angered as clones of the Demon would pop up as Durga causes Kali to appear right from her Bindi. Kali killed Raktabija and the rest of his own duplicates in order for Kali to stop the War between Devas and Asuras. The Battle was over thanks to Kali but unfortunately for Her, she couldn’t stop as she waged on a Murderspree of everything that she came across for she danced on the Dead. Shiva had to stop Kali by having himself stepped on her from the Ground of the Dead which made her instantly stop Dancing and realizing that she was dancing on her Husband’s Body who briefly calmed her.

SBSP Universe

Kali is the Hindu Goddess of Doomsday, Time, and Death. She is the Sister of Durga. She is very Insane, Crazy, and Wildly Chaotic as she loves causing Chaos of Death and Doom upon her feet whenever she walks on the Death of her Enemies. She always goes through massive murder sprees of Enemies that she always faces up when she battles through Evil. She’s not entirely evil as most people would think as she’s often over hyperactive but she can be gentle when she remains calm, especially when she’s around small critters that she adores. Kali and Shiva were once in love until she went on a killing spree of killing the sinful ones and even destroying their lands one by one, Shiva knew that Kali would be way too dangerous to have her as his wife so they had to break up only because it was best for them, especially for Kali since she never really understood on how it feels to be somebody’s lover. Much like Bastet and Sekhmet, Kali has a positive relationship with her own Sister (Durga) since Durga represented the Patience and Justice of War while Kali represented the Brutal Side of War with the Cries from each Battle. She even had to help out her Sister during the War between the Asuras and Devas as Kali had beaten up Raktabija and killed all of his Clones. She didn’t fully kill the Hindu Demon, but she had to let him go as Raktabija instantly ran away from her after the War. But after some time when Raktabija took revenge on the Devas again, Kali and Raktabija had an Epic Death-Defying battle as Kali stepped on Raktabija, forcing him to give up as Kali danced on his Body as if she won and danced her own Macabre. Shiva knew that Kali was too crazy and yet strong to fight off a Bad Guy so Shiva swooped in as Kali was accidentally stepping on him. She didn’t realize it was Shiva that she danced on, but Kali and her Sister had to patch things up after they punished Raktabija off to Naraka. She does like Neptune but she often terrifies Poseidon since he’s very afraid of her due to her chaotic nature. Though, she is nothing at all like Discordia and Eris compare to their own Chaotic Natures, Kali is very different from them. She also happens to be Best Friends with Sekhmet as the Two get along for their own War affairs together. She would also get along with Patrick as the Two would bring Chaos together upon the Sea.

Tales of the Starbound: The Barkeep's Tale The Barkeep's Tale was started in 2015, and while admittedly it was part of a NaNo and I knew then it wasn't perfect, I thought it was reasonably well crafted. But when I rewrote it - nearly from scratch - and read it back, I realised just how much I've improved - mostly in the last 2 years.

Work that still shows I'm learning

I think my SB fics are all of the same reasonable quality (except While the Sun Shines - I wrote that while sick so it doesn't count), so maybe it's one of the WIPs that I'm struggling to bring into being, such as SBSP prpmpt greenfinger.

Tales of the Starbound: The Barkeep's Tale. As noted I'm very proud of it, and it took a lot more effort to perfect than the others, so I'm a little disappointed it didn't do as well. Maybe I should have added a screenshot…
