Being a person really into stationery is unfortunate because I will have to acknowledge that Zhang Beihai would realistically probably just use a mechanical pencil that works rather than a specific kind. I usually draw him with a regular wooden one for recognizability, but he'd definitely be a mechanical pencil type.
#transmission from the captain#(i have been debating with myself over this since. stationery is a big interest of mine and honestly yeah he'd just use a pencil)#(he has better things to worry about than. a pencil. as long as it writes then it is fine)#(though i do think about the conversations about handwriting notes more than i should)#(however hear me out on him with nice utilitarian type metal pencils that are meant to last like the rotring 600)#(ough thinking about how graphite is a form of carbon and that would be a really interesting conversation with carbon-based life as whole)#(then graphite isn't a pigment like with inks so it lasts rather than fading like how inks do over time [especially with sun exposure])#(i really want to explore that because. special interest. and also one of my current big interests)#(i'm really into fountain pens but it's okay i can admit that one of my favorites would be a ballpoint user [i say this lightheartedly])#(actually. idea for later. definitely something to think about for a future project)
