So, in response to tags on this post re: a Daniel Henney/Navarre Ladyhawke scenario, I have been thinking for DAYS on who else one would cast.
To make it fun you really want to set boundaries. Stick to a) people you can cast now (it's not open choice eg you can't cast Gene Tierney then with DH now, it has to be both here and now), and b) be of an equivalent career profile (aka you can't cast some rando from an advertisment), and c) stick within the general vibe and age range of the original narrative. However point c) has really challenged me, as I looked up the ages of the original cast for comparison and it has not satisfied me re: contemp. casting.
For example, Rutget Hauer was 41, and Michelle Pfeiffer was 27. Daniel Henney is 44, so far so good, but then when I went looking at actors in the 27 year age bracket I get like the Ella Purnells and Daisy Edgar Joneses and Anya Taylor Joys of the world? I get that people who notably played teens on screen recently are not actual teenagers, i do know this... but the idea of casting, like, one of the flashback Yellowjackets vs Daniel Henney (44) bores me to tears. BORES ME to TEARS. Navarre/Isabeau, despite sharing very little screentime, have a feeling of being adults of an equivalent experience/confidence/capability, perhaps because they are both the Adults when compared to Philippe's Youth, and the Bishop's and Imperius' Age. Phillipe has to seem like a teenager to her, but he'll be a mid-20's actor already so like I'm not super keen on casting gorgeous models who have yet to see the fun side of 30.
But also like Zöe Robins is in her early 30s and the vibe they have in WoT seems dynamic and interesting between them, so I'd not averse to ZR as Isabeau for for funsies, and just have a WoT LadyhawkeAU. However, I scouted around by going up a decade for the hell of it.
Front runners are: Jodie Turner Smith (you definely go 'holy shit that is the Face of Love', and she can play a quiet dignity combined with a 'i do what i want' vibe); hard to miss Keira 'queen of costume' Knightley (you KNOW she could do it, and she does 'pining and pissed off' so well); but my fave is Sofia Boutella - Isabeau does a lot of no-dialogue scenes of her Looking and Reacting to things, rolling her eyes at Phillipe, thinking about things silently, and Pining, and Boutella is a spectacular no-dialogue actor. She has a dance background, so no surprise I guess. I mean she's been in a lot of action-heavy stuff with minimal/expository dialogue, and you can SEE her feelings. She can do angry and vulnerable and quiet in combination. She can rock a 'i cut my own hair off' look like no problem.
Imperius is Simon Russell Beale. I just like to see him in everything.
Casting Phillipe the Mouse is impossible. IMPOSSIBLE. Ladyhawke is essentially a 2-hander, times 2, because Isabeau and Navarre can't interact due to the uhhhhh central premise of the movie. That means the actual on-screen chemistry has to be between Isabeau|Phillipe, and Navarre|Phillipe (| or / depending on your chemstry preferences I guess).
Due to the age range, you're looking at bascially the kind of people who get cast as one of the kids in Stranger Things, and I recoil. Broderick's entire brand is built on having so much Ferris Bueller youthful rocket-fuel charisma he literally defined the man-child archetype at 23. I cannot think of anyone working now in that age bracket who I would not immediately tell to STFU anytime they were on screen. Idk, find some kid who is live on stage as Billy Elliot or in Matilda right now somewhere, that's probably your best bet

As a Tomdaya on the bird app, who stans Tom and Z as individuals as well as their relationship, I’d thought I chime in. I agree with the anon that Z is treated very differently on the app than Tom and I find it weird. I think Z fans are very proctevtive of Z, rightfully so but they often fail to view her as a human being and put her on this bizarre pedestal that sometimes removes her humanity as an individual that I can only really compare to to Taylor swift. Disney is the starting block to ownership because a lot of fans either grew up with Z or rewatched her shows on the channel that they are the super fans today. Add in The Greatest Showman, MCU, Euphoria and Dune. Properties with big fan bases. Her music career was also very successful though cut short and had a huge impact. It’s not lost on me of the sheer volume of fame and fans she’s received being strategic and being one of a kind talent.
Tom on the other hand has MCU but really didn’t grow up in the public the way Z did at age 13. Another factor I think is a big contribution to this phenomenon is that Z encourages parasocial relationships with her fans. I didn’t think to much of this because most celebs have social media but most don’t really talk to fans unless their gen z or musicians.
They put Z on puritanical pedestals and remove her humanity.Sometimes I think they forget that they know she lurks on socials and might like or retweets accounts thus creating subfandoms that have relations to Z. Those fandoms are not bad and great if your a fan. But those ones like timdayas, hunterdaya or anyone daya who cut Tom out of everything is just so weird to me. They get annoyed if you make a Tomdaya joke cause she more than her relationship. They’re not wrong but she’s always more than her costars but they never see through that logic because it doesn’t fit their narrative lol.
Timothee used to be parasocial as well, especially at the beginning of his career. He would communicate with fans and actually create a bond with them on socials and real life. Club Chalamet is a result of that lol. After the Eiza situation, he stopped and mainly keeps interactions slim and mainly related to his next project because he saw that lines were being blurred and those fans at the time were judgmental. Idk if you remember the infamous Timothee I trusted you meme because despite general public coming for him, those stans really were doing too much lol. I think that’s why he hid his relationships from his fans because they built this idea of him when he’s just a man in his 20s figuring it out lol.
Tom fans are in three catergories mcu fanboys, Tomdayas like me lol, antis who don’t like Z. His fanbase on twitter is really an amalgamation of Tomdayas who both love Z and Tom but their small compared to Z’s or Timothee. When he gets hate Tomdaya felt the need to defend on his behalf. The reality is Tom doesn’t care. He only uses insta and avoids twitter. He healthy because he live in his own universe. However, he’s not a Paul mescal or Josh O’Connor where his work little or alot can stand out for itself whether he’s likeable or not. A lot of his fame comes from his personality or ip films. I’m aware I missed Billy Elliot, just don’t thinks it relevant on social media. Yes I loved tcr but when the rt score came it was brutal. It was shocking seeing critics who relatively have a niche on films come for him and I was just sad that ppl had this much vitriol despite the fact he’s not problematic. Both film twitter beloved Chris Pine and Chris Evans have critically failure and there’s not hate as much as Tom got that week. One thing as a Tomdaya that muted certain z fans who hate on him is that he really doesn’t care.
Him liking that insta post about him forgetting he’s famous made me realise that as a fan I should not care and just curate my account for my own happiness. I don’t engage tweets about comparison with other actors, z’s exes or costars because I know it’s bait. Toms fanbase is small so I’m happy it’s not as big as other actors. That’s why I think those fans can repost his kissing scenes of intamite scenes cause he doesn’t lurk Twitter and it doesn’t start trending. Z does so when those fans post things about her boyfriend or her exes or costars, they know she lurks and I think that’s weird. Maybe that’s why Tomdayas get on defence lol. I’m aware though some Tomdayas can be cringe. I’m not rewriting history here lol.
That’s my two cents lol. Hope you have a good day xxx
Thnx for your input Anon. 😊
Another factor I think is a big contribution to this phenomenon is that Z encourages parasocial relationships with her fans.
I wouldn't say she encourages it, I just think she wants to try to stay personable with her fans and show them that she's still that kind, down to earth girl from Oakland that they've always known and loved, no matter how "famous" she gets. 😊
I didn’t think to much of this because most celebs have social media but most don’t really talk to fans unless their gen z or musicians.
Well Z IS Gen Z lol 😅
Timothee used to be parasocial as well, especially at the beginning of his career. He would communicate with fans and actually create a bond with them on socials and real life. Club Chalamet is a result of that lol. After the Eiza situation, he stopped and mainly keeps interactions slim and mainly related to his next project because he saw that lines were being blurred and those fans at the time were judgmental.
Well, honestly Anon.... MOST Celebrities (I feel) have realized over the years that the LESS they share of their personal life, the BETTER. If you go back 7 years....even just 5 years....and you were to go back in time and be on IG or Twitter as a fan back then, you would see that Z, Tom, Timothee, shoot....even Austin, Nadia lol, etc. ALL used to be waaaay more personable, engaging, and even posted WAY more on their social media accounts back then compared to now. I think over the years, a LOT of these celebrities (especially the ones who are fairly famous) have all realized just how toxic social media has become in just such a short time, and I think they have figured out that the less they share, the better.
Fans have definitely crossed the line, and these actors have realized that they need to put a boundary again btwn them, their private life, and their fans. That's just my own personal observation and theory. 🤷🏾♀️
Him liking that insta post about him forgetting he’s famous made me realise that as a fan I should not care and just curate my account for my own happiness.
I definitely think you should curate your online account for your own happiness and not worry too much about Tom. With that said, while he may have liked that post, we can't say with 100% accuracy that "he doesn't care" about what people say about him. He IS human after all. He might not care about ALL things, but certain things might def be hurtful.

SAMMMMMMMMM I CANTTTTTTTT !!!!! i read the protection blurb🥹🥹🥹 i’m literally about to cry they’re ADORABLEEEEE whew😮💨😮💨 i was cheesing sooooo hard the whole time I CANT BELIEVE YOU ACTUALLY WROTE A BLURB YOURE AMAZINGGGG AHHHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH
i saw your post apologizing for the next part of Most👀….yea i think ima stay away for a littleeee bit longer HAHAHAHA i hate lauren🙄 (idk her)
IM ACTUALLY GOING ON A TRIP !! in the first week of august im traveling to see my sister and some other family (only excited to see my sister tho lmao) and that’s gonna be fun hopefully. not quite sure how long i’m staying but whtvr (i take back what i said, i wanna binge-read Most on the plane and then stress out abt the posting from a different timezone)
i have a new song! (it’s actually old ((and a cover)) but who cares) “Dance Me to the End of Love” The Civil Wars has been on repeat omg. i actually have this whole montage in my head that plays when i hear it of a tv couple and one of them is dying and this is playing in the background while the scene goes from their happy flashbacks to the present AHHH HANDJEIE THATS SO SPECIFIC IDK BUT DO YOU GET IT ?
“You Are In Love” BY TAYLOR SWIFT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MACY AND ELLIOT CODED IM SCREAMINGGGGGG !!!! that’s always been one of my all time favorite taylor songs bc it’s just so lovey dovey so ofccc but i just heard it again after reading love & other words and holyyyyyy ugh i almost cried😭😭 i meannnn “one night, he wakes, strange look on his face, pauses then says, you’re my best friend, and you knew what it was, he is in love” AFHKJEAGFOUEHJFL AND THE WHOLE BRIDGE ??? ITS SO THEM anyway, im still completely in love with that story n i think of them a lot (im trying to persuade my sister to read it, she’s being difficult)
IT. HAS. BEEN. STORMING. FOREVER. i kid you not we spent WELL over a week where it was raining and gloomy and gray nonstop BUT IT WAS STILL HOT. its sunny again now though and i am living purely off of iced coffee LMAO
LOVE YOU SO MUCH HOWS IT GOING ??? HOPE YOURE DOING AMAZING MWAH <333
~🎶
Of course! your inspo was such a good idea! I love to make Harry sound dramatic about safety and of course there's no better Harry than the one I wrote in Protection. 💕
That's awesome you're going on a trip and you get to see your sister! I'm sure that will be really happy and exciting. A no return date is so cool. I wish I could have that part of your life for sure 💕 My entire life is scheduled to the minute lol. I think by the time you are on the plane and in a different time zone you won't be stressing too much about Most hehehehe. I think most of the frustrating scenes and parts are all done (but we'll see what I come up with for the remaining parts)
What a beautiful song 😭 my favorite lyric is in the first verse "lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove" I TOTALLY see what you're saying about the TV montage. That's how I envision songs and see stories as well. Thank you for telling me about it! I have a couple songs I've also been listening to that are older. Go Solo - Tom Rosenthal, Where's My Love - SYML, and Acoustic - Billy Raffoul (the lyrics for this last one are a bit spicy but it sounds so innocent I didn't notice the lyrics when I first heard it on TV)
It's not a book for everyone! My sister didn't like it because she didn't like that she was engaged. Which I think makes me toxic because I didn't even CARE. I love Macy and Elliot. I think about them 20 times a day. Specifically the part where he calls her honey toward the end and consoles her. I'm a sucker for the comfort trope. But you're right, You Are In Love is about them.
It finally cooled down this past week (it's supposed to heat up again though). I'm doing well. This is the last week of summer school. Can't wait to be done with it. I read a trashy book this weekend and I'm hopeful I'll read another one this week. But I wrote Part 4, 5, and I'm working on 6 of Most so I've been doing literature things but I should be reading more. I need less screen time hahaha. I also watched Maxton Hall and I know it's probably a little young for me, but the enemies to lovers is my weakness.
There is nothing wrong with living off iced coffee 😉 Hope you have a good day! Do you have to pack a lot for an undetermined trip length? I think I would explode trying to pack for that 😭 how do you do it?
LOVE YOU! 💕
xoxo

Achilles Castle part 85
Lemonade and lies PART 28
Questions 16
Jet: pov Favorite place to grocery shop. I like the world market where I can buy different types of Ramen.
Kate: pov Castle usually does the grocery shopping but I like going to the health food store.
Liv: pov my favorite stores to shop in were pathmark and A&P. They are no longer in business.
Question 17
Muncy: pov There is a local place near me I like to go to. Random question: when is your birthday? mine is July 2nd I know Liv's is February 7th. Kate says November 17th.
Jet: pov mine is September 4th
Kate: pov favorite take out food, me and the boys used to eat a lot of Chinese food and pizza they still eat it, I eat a healthier version now.
Liv: pov omg me and Fin constantly eat Chinese food together or pizza, must be a cop thing. I used to spend every day eating with Elliot then he left. Munch and Fin were partners so they would eat together, if we were all at the station at the same time we would eat together, Munch had so many conspiracy theories.
Jet: pov Kate says kind of like Castle, Liv replies Munch was way worse than castle with his conspiracy theories. Our squad eats a lot of fast food in the car.
Question 18
Muncy: pov my old squad also used to eat a lot of pizza. If you need them, glasses or contacts. I prefer wearing contact lenses.
Liv: pov I have to wear glasses now for reading, so glasses I hear contacts can give you eye trouble or infections.
Kate: pov thankfully I don't need glasses but I have to make an appointment to get my eyes checked because I could develop an eye condition. My medication causes side effects.
Question 19
Jet: pov I don't need glasses. I have perfect eyesight. Favorite singer.
Liv: pov as you all know Taylor Swift is my favorite singer at the moment.
Muncy: pov I don't know if I have a favorite. I like a bunch of artists equally.
Kate: pov mine is Duran Duran, even got to go up on stage with the band.
Question 20
Jet: pov why did you join the NYPD.
Liv: pov my mother was raped at a college she worked at by a food delivery man name Joseph Hollister in the spring of 1967 when she worked in the cafeteria at Columbia University. I saw how it affected her, she started to drink. Said to me I reminded her of him. How she didn't even want to keep me. And in 1998 I decided to join SVU to get justice for victims of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence.
Jet: pov wait you reminded her of him. Why wouldn't she want you? Did she or your father not want children?
Liv: pov jet you know i’m born February of 1968 and my mom was raped in spring of 67. I’m the product of her rape.
Jet: pov Oh my God Liv i’m so sorry I had no idea. She says it's okay. Liv says her mother wasn't thrilled that she joined SVU but she eventually came around to the idea just like she excepted what happened to her.
Kate: pov as you know my mom was murdered by Dick coonan a man senator bracken hired, I go into more detail explaining things. My dad didn't like that I joined the police academy. Even told Castle that he already lost his wife over this and didn't want to lose his daughter also. This was before I was shot. Jet says she wanted to use her hacking skill for good. Muncy just wants to make a difference in the world by keeping it safe. So what do we want to do next before it gets too late.
Muncy: pov Kate says we can change into our pajamas in the bathroom. She is going to change into hers after Castle helps her put the scar cream on then she will get the air mattress to put in the living room. She tells Liv she can change in her bathroom attached to her bedroom.
Liv: pov I'm in the bathroom changing into my pajamas while Castle is putting scar cream on Kate. I also brush my teeth and go to the bathroom while I'm in here.
Castle: pov Kate asks if I can help her put the scar cream on. I grab my crutches and make My way to the bedroom. Kate is already on the bed waiting. I have her lift up her shirt enough so I can rub in the scar gel on her scars. She then gets in her pajamas and heads out of the room with Liv. Kate constantly has doctor appointments because they want to keep an eye on her scar tissue because that can cause issues down the line for her.
Jet: pov Kate and Liv are back in the living room with the air mattress and pump to fill it up. Kate said if we wanted we could sleep on the sofa instead or even the guest room upstairs. I think It would be more fun for all of us in the Living room. Me and Muncy decided to take the sofa and let Kate and Liv have the air mattress.
Kate: pov I grab some extra pillows and blankets from the closet for the girls, I also grab my anti-roll pillow and my stuffed animal Castle gave it to me after my shooting while I was in the hospital. At first I didn't know who it was from but he eventually told me it was from him. It's supposed to keep you calm or something. It even has a feature that is a heart beat sound that is supposed to be soothing.
Liv: pov I talked to Jet and Muncy and asked them if a sound machine would bother them. They said it shouldn't be a problem. From what I have heard from Castle, Kate should be good with the sound machine. It helps prevent her from having nightmares because it covers up the sounds. The machine is set to run for all night then shuts off in the morning. To be continued ……………

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega to Star in Hallmark Romance Featuring Original Songs, Plus HC & HM&M August Movies

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega are teaming up for a new Hallmark romance with a musical spin.
The couple will star in the upcoming Love in the Limelight, an original movie kickstarting Hallmark Channel's "Fall Into Love" programming slate this August, ET can exclusively reveal. The film, which premieres Saturday, Aug. 6, features six new Spanglish songs written by Carlos PenaVega.
Inspired by the real-life love story of Willie Aames and Winnie Hung, Love in the Limelight follows Summer (Alexa PenaVega), a devoted fan of the popular boy band, the Mendez Boyz, especially lead singer Nick (Carlos PenaVega). After receiving a sweet fan letter from Summer, Nick decides to respond with a phone call, sparking the start of a friendship that’s lasted to this day. When Nick’s manager books a gig for him at a small venue in Summer’s hometown of Salt Lake City where she now works in human resources at a local university, the two finally meet face-to-face. It’s clear their friendship has set the stage for romance and Summer’s abuelita (Ivonne Coll), a hip grandma with a TikTok following, encourages her to follow her heart.

So, I took this guy’s information and maybe about a year later I emailed him and told him I was moving to Montreal. It was February the week I moved there and it was fucking freezing, the kind of cold where you know that if you stay out too long you’ll actually fucking die. Anyway, we began to hang out and go out for dinner, but I started to get the sense that maybe those dinners were like dates or something. I don’t know that to be true, and he seemed really cool and sweet, but after nine days or so I knew I had to just be straight up with him. I asked him if he knew any gay people and he said, ‘Actually I’m in art school with a girl and I think you’d really like her,’ and he took me over to introduce me to her. Her place was in a brownstone, kind of like in New York, and we climbed all the stairs up to the top apartment, and when we got inside there was what sounded to me like a horrible racket. The kind of music where you’re like, ‘What in the fuck is this?’. Then this girl comes around the corner and I was immediately kind of intimidated, because she was clearly gay and super cute. She took us into the living room and gave us a beer and then went to get ready because we were going to go to some kind of lesbian Meow Mix kind of event. I’ll never forget Antoine and I just looking at each other and I was like, ‘This song, right? Crazy!’ and it was “Fuck The Pain Away” by Peaches. Anyway, the end of that story is that I ended up dating that girl and she became our band’s art director, and has been our art director for almost 20 years. She absolutely fucking loved Peaches. I was so not ready for that electroclash sound at the time, but because I desperately wanted to be cool and I thought she was the coolest person in the world, I started to love everything that she loved. And so I became obsessed with Peaches too.

I felt so supported by everyone. We were shooting right after I disclosed that I’m trans, in total isolation. That was definitely an overwhelming period, but I feel so lucky that I was going to work and getting to be with so many supportive people. I’m so lucky to work with this cast. And in any moment that I did express fear and anxiety, I felt listened to and cared for. And obviously, that should be the case all the time, but we know how things are. So, it’s special. And that Steve, you would make the choice to do this and commit to doing it the right way. I feel like that’s the kind of showrunner you are and have been doing that the entire time we’ve been making the show, including last season with Sissy. So it was just building on already that you’re so wonderful because you have your distinct singular vision mixed with being so collaborative and I’m really grateful for that, always.

Mick's Basic Info

Name: Makana Kaya Birch
Mick’s faceclaims, from what I can recall, haven’t changed much at all since I first picked them out. For the 60s, we have the iconic Annette Funicello, the 80s has Lori Loughlin, 2000-2010 is Phoebe Tonkin, and finally, present day is the beautiful Bailee Madison.
Nicknames: Mick, Kana, Mickie, Mickey/Mickie Mouse, Trouble (by her dad, mostly), and occasionally, Chex Mix (usually only when Viv wants to tease her or piss her off, but it’s a long-standing joke between them)
Age: 20
Date of Birth: December 24
Zodiac: Capricorn
Birthstone: Turquoise
Nationality: American, Scottish, Irish
Sexuality: Straight
Born: A cabin in Tilton, New Hampshire
Current Residence: Camino Capistrano, San Clemente, California
Occupation: (modern) Surf shop worker, (in the 60s) animal sanctuary assistant and occasional back-up waitress at Big Momma’s
Schooling: Graduated high school and began taking online college courses for marine biology
Talents/Skills: Writing music, surfing, gymnastics, she can balance a spoon on her nose, if you want to consider that a talent
Birth order: Only child
Parents: Brady Elliot Birch and McKenzie Blaire Fox
Signature:
Height: 5’5” or 168cm
Eye Color: Brown with hints of green
Hair Color: Dark brown
Glasses or contact lenses: She likes to wear colored contacts for fun, but they aren’t necessary
Distinguishing features: Scar on her left arm from a knife accident, a tiny burn on the inside of her right elbow from spilled hot coffee, and a small tattoo of Butchy’s initials under her engagement ring
Mannerisms: Drums her fingers on any surface, cooks/bakes when she's stressed, and sings whatever song is stuck in her head at random points through the day
Health: Allergic to pine trees/pine scented things and has vertigo (connected to her severe fear of heights/acrophobia)
Hobbies: knitting, kick-boxing, archery, collecting coins from other states and countries
Greatest flaw (in their opinion): She would probably say how absentminded she can be as she gets distracted rather easily, but her true flaw would be her determination. Whether it has to do with the way she just has to know how something works, even if it means taking that something apart to figure it out, or the way she pushes people to tell her what’s bothering them, her determination is both a great resource and her greatest downfall. She does apologize when she goes too far, but she hardly ever realizes she’s pushed too much while she’s doing it, something that encourages the others to intervene when necessary.
Best quality (in their opinion): Mick would outright say her imagination and, whilst it’s great, her resourcefulness far surpasses that. Mick has always been good at taking random things and using them for something else. Whether it’s using a bread tie to hold two wires together or unlocking a car with a metal clothes hanger to get the keys out, she’s quick on her feet and logical, something that most people can appreciate when in need of her assistance.
Biggest fear(s): Heights and seagulls. As a kid, she wasn’t bothered by either at all, climbing jungle gyms or fire escapes with ease and feeding the seagulls at the beach out of the palm of her hand, but after taking a nasty fall off of a pier at the age of 9 due to a pair of seagulls attacking her during their fight for food, she refuses to engage with either. She avoids seagulls like the plague and refuses to even climb a ladder, let alone look down from any great height. She’s tried multiple times to get over her fears, but to her dismay, nothing’s worked.
Favorite ice cream: Rootbeer or Moose Tracks
Favorite color: Red
Favorite number(s): 53 (the year of her favorite car)
Favorite songs: Maneater by Nelly Furtado, Hey Lover by The Daughters of Eve, and Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift
Favorite movies: The Princess Bride, Dirty Dancing, Pride and Prejudice, The Fast and The Furious (mostly the first movie, but she likes them all in their own way), and Legally Blonde
Favorite TV shows: Bridgerton, The Umbrella Academy, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Riverdale, Sherlock, Friends, How It’s Made, and, of all things, Jeopardy because she loves trying to answer before the contestants
Favorite books: How to Solve Your Own Murder by Kristen Perrin, A Lonely Broadcast by Kel Byron, Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson, Divergent, and Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer
Favorite video games: Undertale, Detroit: Become Human, and What Remains of Edith Finch
A musical they love: Grease and Les Misérables
A place they want to visit most: Morocco and Monaco

in the last week i've seen so many ppl in their teens and early 20s talking about how following you know who affected them negatively when they were younger and idk if it was Kickstarted by ttb4 or someone else before them but its been eyeopening to see. on gaylor twitter on debunking ttbs blog and on other gaylor blogs. and imo I think this is why straight woman shouldnt be given a leader role in lgbt fandoms. they accidentally mess lgbt teens up cos they dont understand how to handle stuff pro
Yeah it’s heartbreaking. Like genuinely. I’m so sorry for every kid who has felt like they were not enough for questioning themselves and going back and forth, or for not coming out, or who second guessed if they “looked” gay in pictures if they were closeted for safety reasons. I’m also sorry to every convert who wondered if their conversion was valid, to every Jewish kid who was told if they wear a crop top or pose with a Christmas tree they are bad Jews, to every single kid whose identity was dismissed or brushed aside. I’m so, so sorry and I want to tell every single one of these young people that they are fucking valid and enough.
But this is also where we can learn a very valuable lesson about staying in our designated lanes because I don’t think TTB is a bad human being. I think she is fundamentally good - just like I think most people are fundamentally good. Like I like do poke fun at her but it’s out of frustration, not because I think she is actually evil. No person is ever truly evil, IMO. But I’m frustrated with her because people have been saying and saying and saying to her that she’s hurting them and she hasn’t fucking listened. She has talked over them and erased their experiences and... well, and that’s where we can, as I say, learn a very valuable lesson.
Because what I think happened was TTB saw two very hot women and decided they’d make a very hot couple (which... fair). It’s not like you can’t stan queer people when you’re straight. We need allies, right? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with stanning Kaylor - or some other queer couple - as a straight person. But you shouldn’t try and be the leading voice on the issue because you’re bound to get stuff wrong. And if you’re willing to learn, like, fair. If you’re genuinely just interested and wanting to hear about the person or people you love, I have no issue with that. Like every Karlie or Dianna blog I’ve ever interacted with and corrected on issues around Judaism, has been extremely cool about it. Because they love Karlie and Dianna and they want to get it right. Which like fair. You don’t need to be Jewish to fangirl over Karlie or Dianna Agron or Bar Rafaeli or whoever. But if you talk over marginalized people? Not cool.
Like there’s, as I say, a super valuable lesson here and it applies to everyone like it’s not that I’m above it. So for example I love Megan Thee Stallion. I think she’s so hot, and so fucking funny, and her music is banging, and she is so smart and witty and I like... love her. Truly. Deeply. Should I run a blog on Meg that attempts to be The Meg blog? (For the record I don’t want to be The Anything blog I’m just fucking about and having fun rn but obvi we have a Tay Swift focus - but this shouldn’t be The Taylor blog lmao because I’m a clown). The answer is a resounding no. No, I shouldn’t. Because I would get stuff wrong. Not because I’d want to. Not because I’m not an ally. I am. But I’m not a Black woman and I don’t have that experience and it would be exhausting for Black women to have to keep educating so it wouldn’t be a fair ask - even if I were to listen (which I would but it’d still be taxing af). I LOVE Elliot Page in every thing he’s ever done since Juno. I was fucking obsessed with that movie. Should I attempt to become an authority on him and his life? No because I’d get stuff wrong and it would be exhausting for trans people to keep teaching me.
Now is there anything wrong with me stanning Black women? No. Is there anything wrong with me stanning trans people? No. But should I attempt to be the loudest voice on these people? No. Because I’ll get stuff wrong. And it will, as I say, become exhausting to folks who correct me and will be harmful to young people who look to me as an authority. So it’ll become a problem. Which is what happened here, right? Like I say this is a very very valuable lesson that I hope everyone - especially my younger readers - takes away from this mess.
And honestly, again, I don’t think TTB is a bad person and I wish she would just listen to what we’re saying instead of what she wants to hear us saying. Like I wish she’d take a deep breath, listen to understand and hear and not to respond, apologize to the marginalized folks she hurt and come back and just... have fun. Yet again let me reiterate that I had nothing to do with TTB’s deletion and I didn’t ask any of these kids to come forward - but I’m so proud of them and glad they did. I think TTB is probably a lovely person and a good friend to the other hard Kays. She’s welcome to come clown 🤡 but she must first do the work.
And to do the work she must sit down and hear what people are saying. And apologize.

LOSER LIKE ME, aka jordan joins the new directions
so essentially this is mostly for fun but also a reference point for my glee au that I only write with like 3 people in but I’m pretty much married to at this point. I’ve organized the majority of this playlist in order of what jordan tackles in the glee club for the weekly assignments + the in-between numbers she folds into her repertoire for fun / for assignments that we never saw in the show but could easily exist.
SEASON 2
episode 1, audition: mustang sally, wilson pickett
I know roderick auditions with the same song in season 6 but here at traumantic productions I do whatever I want and I want jordan to pull off an unexpected audition song that secures her place among the underdogs within new directions, thank you.
episode 2, britney/brittany: what u see (is what u get), britney spears
it’s one of jordan’s favorite britney songs and speaks to how she’s determined to stay true to who she is no matter what peoples’ perceptions of her is (even though she’s still young and finding herself)
episode 4, duets: you really got me, the kinks/cherry bomb, the runaways
pre-determined mash-up for the breadstix dinner for two duet competition with @nostlgic‘s john bender; it’s like pulling teeth at first but eventually the two end up seeing eye to eye and pull off a performance with jordan rocking the electric guitar and channeling her inner joan jett; they don’t win but they do a damn good job regardless.
episode 7, the substitute: crushcrushcrush, paramore
holly holiday said the glee kids can do whatever the hell they want and jordan wants to do more pop punk. also, any excuse to bust out the guitar is a good one.
episode 8, furt: stand by me, ben e. king
one of jordan’s favorite love songs and one she pulls out for carol and burt’s wedding.
episode 12, silly love songs: take a chance on me, abba
jordan (and this totally isn’t me projecting) really wanted to tackle abba for the “sing love songs for valentine’s week” assignment, so what?
episode 15, sexy: froot, marina and the diamonds
I know this song came out in 2015 and the episode aired in 2011 but this would be the least terrible infraction the show has ever had with continuity, also it’s a banger of a song, also I already know the staging goes from jordan starting out singing in the choir room for the assignment and by the chorus shifts to her singing in the auditorium in full old hollywood glam, as it should be. I’m a genius, thank you.
episode 17, a night of neglect: kiss me fool, fefe dobson
I fell down a rabbit hole of music I listened to in middle school and fefe dobson is severely underappreciated and neglected as an artist, and kiss me fool is the perfect combo of soulful and rock that captures jordan’s taste in music. she’ll shred through the hecklers..... until sue unplugs her amp/the mic/something to that effect.
episode 19, rumours: the chain, fleetwood mac
I picked a song off the album that wasn’t covered in the episode since it has to be rumors-specific but hey...... this actually works really well.
episode 20, prom queen: i want you to want me, letters from cleo; DONTTRUSTME, 3OH!3
jordan performs two songs (possibly more) for the prom; i want you to want me is a duet with @nostlgic‘s john bender once again, and she pulls out DONTTRUSTME because it’s a great party song.
SEASON 3
episode 1, the purple piano project: trouble, p!nk
jordan wanted to do more p!nk and figured this would be a good recruitment song for the glee club, to showcase the different music they do
episode 3, asian f: fame, irene cara
her audition song for the musical; she’s going for anita and rightfully gets stomped out of the running by santana (I will never stop simping for santana) but she enjoys being one of the shark girls all the same.
episode 7, i kissed a girl: nineteen, tegan and sara
it’s the gayest song I could think of that would be in jordan’s wheelhouse. I’m doing this for the lesbians.
episode 10, yes/no: your song, elton john
I know ryder covers this later but once again I do not care. it’s another favorite love song of jordan’s and one she would present to mr. schue for his proposal to emma.
episode 11, michael: the way you make me feel, michael jackson
michael jackson tribute week? she’s bringing the energy, the vocals, and the dance moves, as she should. also she’s ready to kill sebastian but that’s beside the point.
episode 12, the spanish teacher: como la flor, selena
yes I am biased but also how the fuck can you do a week dedicated to latin artists and not cover the queen of tejano? enter: jordan. everyone say thank you.
episode 13, heart: fall to pieces, avril lavigne
love song themed episodes = more favorite love songs from jordan, this one being a more alternative/pop punk one. who doesn’t love old school avril?
episode 16, saturday night glee-ver: she works hard for the money, donna summer
this isn’t on the saturday night fever album but donna summer is the queen of disco in jordan’s opinion and she, like me, does what she wants.
episode 19, prom-asaurus: heart of glass, blondie; tell it to my heart, taylor dayne
I might change this/add more but jordan went through an 80s mood that month and just felt like the two above would be solid for prom (and she’s right!).
episode 22, goodbye: don’t you (forget about me), the simple minds
yes this was covered in later seasons but I do not care it’s iconic and she’s gonna sing this to the seniors come hell or high water.
SEASON 4
episode 2, britney 2.0: what it’s like to be me, britney spears
another empowering britney song for britney week, take two. pretty much same deal as before.
episode 7, dynamic duets: SOS, ABBA; you don’t mess around with jim, jim cocre
this episode was superhero themed with the duets and I think both songs fit the theme and are also in jordan’s reach; she probably picks ABBA but that could change.
episode 11, sadie hawkins: still into you, paramore
once again this is specific to @nostlgic‘s john bender but in general...... such a good love song. I guarantee you if you sing this at your crush they will instantly fall in love with you.
episode 12, naked: maneater, nelly furtado
truthfully I can’t remember why I thought this would fit into the episode theme but once again, I do what I want and so does jordan.
episode 13, diva: if i could turn back time, cher
I realize that the network probably couldn’t afford the royalties to cover cher’s music but is that gonna stop me from proclaiming that jordan does exactly that during diva week? of course not.
episode 14, i do: everywhere, michelle branch
this doesn’t fit the rest of the episode so this is probably gonna change but hey, michelle branch is underrated and I’m doing everyone a favor here.
episode 16, feud: 1, 2 step, ciara ft. missy elliot/disturbia, rihanna
ciara and rihanna had a very brief feud that mostly happened on twitter and was resolved with little drama but since the episode is about doing music/mashups incorporating two artists with beef, this works. and it’ll fucking slap.
episode 17, guilty pleasures: before he cheats, carrie underwood
did you know jordan actually really loves country music? well, now you do.
episode 19, sweet dreams: sweet dreams, eurythmics
the assignment was about dreams and jordan decided to slack off that week with the music. she still pulls it off. will schuester is probably still a dick.
episode 20, lights out: edge of seventeen, stevie nicks
power goes out at mckinley and the glee club is challenged to perform music stripped down and acoustic; could you imagine how hard an acoustic version of edge of seventeen would be? you’re welcome.
episode 21, wonder-ful: sir duke, stevie wonder
it’s a stevie wonder tribute episode and you best believe jordan’s doing his best (my opinion) song
SEASON 5
episode 1, love, love, love: it won’t be long, the beatles
beatles tribute episode 1/2; it’s a song they didn’t cover and one she could handle. also it’s just a good song.
episode 2, tina in the sky with diamonds: can’t buy me love, the beatles
same as above, performed at prom, most likely with help from fellow glee-clubbers. she might even don a suit for the performance. she’s absolutely playing guitar.
episode 7, puppet master: since u been gone, kelly clarkson
from what I remember, the glee club is just going through ideas of what they could do for a setlist for their next competition and jordan would prepare this banger for consideration
episode 9, frienemies: cruel summer, bananarama
I honestly can’t remember this episode beyond the rachel/santana stuff but it’s a good song, let her do it
episode 10, trio: follow me, uncle kracker
see previous
episode 12, 100: how will i know, whitney houston
the aforementioned song was such a good cover in glee and one of the new directions performances jordan would absolutely want to revisit.
episode 14, new new york: dancing in the street, martha reeves & the vandellas
I just think this number would be fun to see with jordan exploring the city with her friends in NYC and with literal dancing in the street (because that totally happens in new york without motorists getting pissed)

Do you have any headcanon of what bands or music genres the bachelors/bachelorettes would listen to? I personally think Sebastian would really like my chemical romance and the all american rejects
Idk much about music as my music taste is very strange (I think) and limited, but my friend @kennysbog helped me with a lot of this! Like more than half! Thank you so much!
Bachelors
Sebastian: absolutely listens to mcr, all American rejects, and fall out boy! But he also indulges in a bit of classical from time to time, to most people’s surprise. Sometimes he wants to listen to something calm, y’know?
Sam: similar to Sebastian, since they kinda share the same music taste, but he prefers pop over classical. Boring piano and violin music, no thanks
Elliot: 80% classical, 20% little bits of things he picked up here and there, also likes songs from the 40’s! And some 80s-90s stuff
Harvey: would listen to really soft things. Peach Pit, the brobecks, GROW BY CONAN GREY. probably loves the beatles and has a shrine to them.
Shane: emo. black veil brides. my chemical romance. all time low. those people. songs about being sad.
Alex: likes more mainstream stuff. Lil Nas X, drake, but also likes things like imagine dragons and taylor swift.
Bachelorettes
Haley: halsey!!! would literally love halsey!! and camilla cabello. loves powerful female artists like YES QUEEN
Emily: was actually the first one to show hailey halsey so she likes her too. she also probably likes panic! at the disco and the pop punk bands like that. twenty one pilots etc.
Leah: folk music!!! loves the lumineers, mumford and sons, the more acoustic harry styles kinds of things. is a SLUT FOR GOOD ACOUSTIC GUITAR AND TWANGY BITS IN SONGS
Penny: likes taylor swift too! and shawn mendes! the plain white ts, niall horan. favorite song is probably Sophie by The Altogether.
Maru: she prefers calming, but still upbeat music. Like Louis Zong! (I recommend checking his blog out, his music and art is really good)
Abigail: fall out boy!!!!! hardcore loves fall out boy. and rock music if ya know what i mean. led zeppelin, dad rock bands ya know
#i dont know any of the people she put but im very grateful for her help#stardew valley#stardew sebastian#stardew shane#stardew sam#stardew harvey#stardew alex#stardew elliott#stardew abigail#stardew emily#stardew haley#stardew penny#stardew leah#stardew maru#my writing

I am going to see the cats movie tonight and I have some thoughts before I see it.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love musical theatre. I always have. I remember my first introduction to musicals was the Really Useful Group VHSs we had of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Cats. I would watch these three on repeat, eventually buying multiple copies on DVD when we got rid of our VHS player. These three musicals have had such an impact on my life, so much so that I would still put them in my top 5 of favourite musicals.
Anyway, on Cats in particular. I have always loved cats (the animal). So to have a musical/film all about them when I was growing up was the best. Lots of people dressed as cats dancing around and singing amazing songs. What more could you want.
As I’ve grown older I have so much more respect for this show. What appears to be a weird show with people dressing up as cats and singing songs is in fact a masterpiece on every level. Beginning with the songs. T.S Elliot’s ‘Old Possums Book of Practical Cats’ offers lyrics that make characters that we care about and understand. These cats are no longer cats, they are people, like ourselves. I have never been a lover of poetry, but this book is something else. I have even had my own copy for nearly 20 years. paired with the beautiful music or Andrew Lloyd Webber. We can say all we want about Lord Lloyd Webber, but he sure knows how to compose some good music. Each song beautifully describes each cat, without even having to listen to the lyrics. I can listen to a single bar of any song and be transported back to being 5 years old, at in front of my TV watching the 1998 VHS. One thing I think people get the wrong impression of is the idea of people playing cats. They envision people in furry costumes crawling around the stage licking their hands and scratching their ears. In fact, Cats is an enthralling, almost, ballet. With stunning choreography that uses the movement of both people and cats to form something that tales a wonderful, believable story, without seeming like a child’s game or a long, serious art piece. As a child I loved dance (unfortunately I gave it up a long time a go due to various reasons) and cats was one of the reasons I did. In fact, in one of my later classes we choreographed a piece to Jellicle Ball, which unfortunately we never performed, but reminded me just why I was there.
When I first heard that they were making a movie of the musical, you can imagine that I was ecstatic. One of the first castings I was aware of was Sir Ian McKellen. To be honest, I can’t really think of a better person to play Gus. I was excited and hoping for something brilliant. Then further cast started to be announced. Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy. Yes the character has always been played by a man, but I didn’t see why they couldn’t be played by a woman and Dame Judi was probably the best actress to do so. Then more, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, James Corden, Rebel Wilson. At this point, it just seemed like they were trying to get as many ‘big’ names into the cast. Not thinking about whether they were right for the role or not. Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella. I’ve personally always thought that Grizabella should be played by an older actress, as she is supposed to be a character that is ‘past her prime’. So I’ve never been a great fan of the younger actresses playing her, like Nicole Scherzinger and Alexandra Burke. However, I think, I they were going to go with a younger actress, Hudson is one of the better choices they could have made.
From then, all I had was hope that they would make something that respected the original show, characters and poems, whilst bringing it ‘to the masses’.
And then the trailer was released. What had they done?! One of the appeals of the stage show and the ‘98 film is that characters look human enough for it to be taken seriously as a dramatic musical piece. But enough like cats for them to be believable characters. In the new movie, the overuse of CGI has blurred the line between the two (quite literally in some cases) and made some weird human cat hybrids. It would be so much better without the CGI. You can even see how the characters do look like the originals and the costume design is there, but it has just been completely ruined by the CGI.
Then the soundtrack was released. I thought I’d give it a listen. Maybe they’d for that right. First, the modernisation of most of the songs, which I sort of understood, to keep it in line with the more modern set and look. Other than that, everything seemed alright. Then I heard Swift singing Macavity. Hang on, is that an English accent? That’s a choice. Then onto Jason Derulo singing Rum Tum Tugger. And there it is again. An English accent. Yes there are some references to English locations within the show, but it is never stated that that is were they are. Even if they, who’s to say all of the characters are English. In fact, in past many of the characters have had non-English accents. Putting all of this aside. THEY’RE CATS! Who on earth said that their accents had to reflect those of the humans around them?! What I’m saying is, they could have improved the film a little, by not insisting that clearly American actors TRY and put on English accents. Particularly when singing, when most actors are more likely to skip back into their native accent.
Aside from all of the negative feelings and opinions I have already made about this movie, I have to give it a chance. I was originally unsure about whether I wanted to waste my money seeing at the cinema. But at the very root of it. I love this musical and always will. If I don’t like this version, then there are others that I can still watch.
To be honest, I am going into it expecting the worst, so surely the only way is up. If it is as bad as I am expecting, all I can hope is that it will have introduced people to an amazing musical that is often underrated and encourage them to seek out other versions. Maybe bringing more people to the theatres. We all know that going to the theatre is expensive. So the more available we can make musicals to the masses, the better.
