Deco keeps a deal of distance from the cardinals. He smiles. He asks questions and he answers. But his gaze stays lowered whilst the rest of this wealthy delegation of pilgrims kneel, kiss, proffer the hands of these holy men and altars. You can pay well for this private audience, but money cannot buy privacy without an inside connection within the conclave or a personal invitation: Deco has neither, yet.

He seeks the window as Innocent enters. Perhaps not even realising Innocent has entered. His re-alignment eastward is a perfect ninety degrees from where Innocent walks forward: a perfect right angle.

His refusal to bow does not go unnoticed.

If there is no God but God for a Muslim, Cardinal Lorenzo offers Innocent as an explanation, then it is not permissible to prostrate, bow or kneel to anyone other than God. Personal space is a sign of respect, in Islam, is also offered. It is a sign of respect because it is an outward accommodation for the inner life of others; another mind's consciousness; reflection and contemplation above passion, love and sacrifice.

It is and is not that.

Deco keeps his hands firmly clasped behind his back. If he did not hold one with the other, they would be shaking.

"Wild Hearts" - Continuing to think in linocut terms and imagining if I had access to silver and gold inks as well. Things like this would have to be REAL big. I find carving relaxing when all the artistic decisions are already made. I wonder if the local arts place would ever have a printmaking class that could walk me through their presses or printing technique...I can carve the blocks themselves just fine.

FWIW, "mauve" was one of the coal-tar dyes developed in the mid-19th century that made eye-wateringly bright clothing fashionable for a few decades.

It was an eye-popping magenta purple

HOWEVER, like most aniline dyes, it faded badly, to a washed-out blue-grey ...

...which was the color ignorant youngsters in the 1920s associated with “mauve”.

(This dress is labeled "mauve" as it is the color the above becomes after fading).

They colored their vision of the past with washed-out pastels that were NOTHING like the eye-popping electric shades the mid-Victorians loved. This 1926 fashion history book by Paul di Giafferi paints a hugely distorted, I would say dishonest picture of the past.

Ever since then this faded bluish lavender and not the original electric eye-watering hot pink-purple is the color associated with the word “mauve”.

pick one to wear every time you KNOW you’re going to fuck and stick with it for a while. i’d go for something pretty different from your usual scent. consistency is key in the first few months, i started out wearing it every time i knew we were going for a drink knowing we’d get handsy later. eventually, you can put some on just to get coffee- they won’t know exactly why they can’t keep their hands off of you. spray it in the bathroom before you leave, they can’t figure out why they miss you so much. pretty soon you’ll be just a spray away from hot lesbian sex <3 you’re welcome
