Closed starter for @aftermiiidniiight / Muse: Aaron Leto
Aaron wasn't usually the type to go to a strip club of all places. He very much preferred his women within reach, touchable, and most importantly his. This whole business with looking at naked women you had no connection to did nothing for him, just as he'd never had any interest in porn. And yet, he could play along with the best of them. So he'd joined the small group of partners and senior associates from the firm when the idea came up. The group was loud for the most part as they came inside, many of them already a little (or a lot) drunk from the bottles of wine and champagne served at the celebratory dinner earlier.
Aaron for his part, kept a level head, though smiling and joking around with the others as they found different spots around the strip club to settle down in. He joined a smaller group of four at a booth, and soon the party continued, bottles on the tables, half naked girls scattered across many a lap, some grinding happily away to the music and the bills tucked into their thongs. Aaron was like a shadow; part of it all and yet not at all, happy to be situated perfectly to watch the whole ordeal without actually partaking.
And then his eyes spotted her, scantily clad as she made her way onto the stage and began moving to the music. Several of his colleagues caught sight of the newest dancer on stage too, he noticed, nudging each other and grinning as they discussed. He couldn't hear what was being said, but he could easily imagine.
Unwilling to make a fool of himself in front of the firm, he sat quietly, sipping his whiskey while watching her, eyes slightly narrowed and so intensely focused, it was a wonder they didn't burn a hole through her. He wondered, briefly, if she'd be able to spot him in the dimmed lights of the club, one among many suit-clad patrons this evening.

ok so i had a conversation with @thegoliathbeetle about this and it was interesting so i'm going to post about it more
in the extra content, in regards to the foxes' reactions to kevin after riko's death, nora says: "It'll take time for them [The Foxes] to try and understand where he's coming from. Even Aaron has an awful opinion on the matter since he knows Riko was behind Drake."
now a common take i've seen more often recently is people claiming aaron would understand why kevin reacted the way he did to riko's death, because aaron missed his mother after she died in the same way. this obviously is not what the extra content says, and i think it comes in part with the fact that comparatively we don't see a lot of aaron in canon, and this means that common interpretations of his character can deviate slightly from the source material (not anyone's fault of course and not necessarily a bad thing, but i think it can skew some people's perspectives when it comes to details like this)
while i agree with the above idea that aaron would understand eventually, i also think that, in short, at this point in canon aaron minyard is not emotionally intelligent enough to understand and recognise this in himself.
simply put, he doesn't get or accept kevin mourning riko, because in his eyes, riko was a LOT worse than tilda was. aaron is of the opinion that his mother's collateral damage was conserved to only hurting herself and aaron, whereas riko relished in causing pain, spent his time torturing all of the ravens, had seth killed, and he targeted aaron's family multiple times. nora said it herself, aaron knew that riko was responsible for drake, so in his eyes, that's no contest– riko was far worse than tilda ever was. and maybe this is true.
aaron is also somewhat of a hypocrite: he knows kevin was abused, it's obvious that kevin was abused by riko but what aaron doesn't have firstly is the why– it's not common knowledge that riko was being abused by tetsuji as well, so to an outsider he just seems like a power-hungry monster who lived to hurt people and got what he deserved in the end. and to aaron, this looks open-and-shut, simple. kevin shouldn't mourn riko because riko wasn't worth mourning. aaron, at this point in canon, will not draw those parallels between what happened to him with tilda and what happened to kevin with riko– because aaron is still not ready to admit that what happened to him was abuse.
he will tie himself in knots trying to make it work, trying to argue that of course kevin and jean never deserved what happened to them, but aaron did fuck up a lot as a kid, so every time he got hit it was because he earned it. he'll argue that after she was done hitting him, tilda would leave him alone and he could recover on his own time, but kevin and jean used to have to play with their injuries, so it was worse, so it was abuse. aaron will grasp at any straw he can catch to plead that what happened to him when he was a kid wasn't abuse and it was normal– because if the truth is otherwise, then it makes him a victim, and at age 20 he is not ready to process that. (this is a longer post so i'll leave this point here)
it's easy for us as an audience to draw the parallels between aaron's grief over losing tilda and kevin's grief over losing riko, because we have all of the information and we have the ability to textually analyse the characters. but aaron is a very logical person and in his eyes, kevin's grief makes no sense, because riko was a monster, and then a brother. but he thinks that mourning tilda did make sense, because she was his mother, and then a monster. he's not viewing those scenarios on the same level, and so he's not making the connections we're making.
all this to say, i believe that there will come a time, eventually, when aaron will start to think a little more about kevin and what losing riko was like, and he will begin to understand that while they didn't have the same experiences, the mark left on each of them by riko and tilda is similar, and that aaron's grief over losing tilda despite what she did to him is not different to how kevin felt about riko. but this is going to take time. by the time TKM happens, aaron still hasn't let go of tilda, let alone begun to work his own way through what he went through when she was alive. that's a much longer journey, but one he will complete eventually, and one day maybe he'll even talk about it. but healing takes time, and aaron has only just really gotten started.

I think that, after Unravel Me, Tahereh Mafi just went "How far can I take these books until they're not considered YA anymore?" And she has not stopped since...
Ignite Me? Holy crap
Restore Me? Sweet baby Jesus
Defy Me? That one scene with Kenji and Nazeera certainly made me forget all the trauma that book was giving me
Believe Me? My lord who authorised that??
All This Twisted Glory? How they allowed Cyrus' dream to remain in the book will forever be a mystery to me
Like at this point I think Tahereh Mafi is just too powerful and book editors just cannot say no to her. She is too good it will ruin them if they refuse. It's the only possible explanation.

“Here’s the thing–I don’t do this shit out of the goodness of my heart.” If that’s what they were hoping for in coming to him, they were dead wrong. “I expect to get paid. Half up front, half after. You understand that?”

‪@pattonoswalt: ‬RUN DON’T WALK and go see Aaron Schimberg’s A DIFFERENT MAN when it opens on October 4th.
We got to see an early screening last night and the wife and I are still talking about this ABSOLUTE WONDER of a film.
It’s hilarious, and then dark, and then heart-wrenching and then hilarious and and a couple of times GENUINELY SCARY, sometimes in the space of a minute. I haven’t seen anything like this in a LONG TIME.
The cast — Sebastian Stan, Renate Reinsve (THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD) and @Adam_Pearson — are all at the top of their game. Stan pulls off a feat of acting that totally upends his natural magnetism with zero trickery or effects. It’s undiluted ESSENCE.
Reinsve is the “quirky dream girl” until she ISN’T and the moment when it shift the whole audience GASPED. But what’s weird about all of the “twists” is they’re NOT twists. They’re in keeping with the VERY human train-wreck personalities that inhabit Schimberg’s world.
And @Adam_Pearson — good Lord in heaven. Again, he and Stan play off each other in a way you totally don’t expect until it feels so real that all of the jokes, sadness, and genuine psychosis feel earned & real & inevitable.
This is definitely one of those movies like ADAPTATION and TRIANGLE OF SADNESS that I’m gonna need multiple viewings of just to see all of the visual and verbal tricks that Schimberg gleefully gets away with.
May Aaron Schimberg forever be allowed to make exactly the fucked-up movies he wants to me. Seriously, go see A DIFFERENT MAN — in a THEATER, just to hear the audience react. WOW.

Closed starter for @mossofteeth / Aaron & Genevieve
It had been a busy week, and a successful one at that. Not a lot of people would celebrate getting a murdering slumlord off scot-free, but Aaron was one of them. The whole firm was, really. The guy had put them on a pretty hefty retainer after his success, and Aaron had used that to cement his standing in the firm. That partner offer was right around the corner; he could feel it.
So they'd gone out to celebrate at the first ridiculously expensive restaurant they could find. Some of the others had invited wives and girlfriends along, and the evening had taken on a life of its own. All the while, Aaron personally preferred to blend in seamlessly, more or less quietly watching the evening unfurl. He was engaged loosely in conversation with a few of the other senior associates and their wives when something unexpected drew his attention. It was an instinct more so than anything he actually saw at first, but it pulled him from the conversation and made him look around.
The glass of red wine he'd been nursing still in his hand paused on the way to his lips when his eyes finally found what they'd unknowingly been searching for. They widened a fraction - and then narrowed. She'd just walked in - on the arm of one of the juniors who'd been invited to join the celebrations after dinner, and Aaron's mind stretched like a rubber band before snapping, focused on one overwhelmingly simple word: mine.
It took him all of one second to put his pleasant mask back in place, and he lifted a hand slightly to invite Gen and her date over, a casual smile on his face, attention focused on the male at her side as though she was any other two-bit girlfriend on the arm of a random colleague.

Summary for non-Twitter users: Henare runs/ran a twitter/instagram account by the name of ThePrimalBro. He also used to run a tiktok page of the same name but it has since been deleted. Trust me when I say we have known this was Henare for years at this point, ThePrimalBro promotes books that he authored with Aaron Henare as the author.
In these books and on these accounts, he makes wildly inaccurate, broadly reaching, and absolute claims that do not link back to any substantial research on a variety of topics.
He claims that men these days are weak, lacking their masculine glory from back when things were better. This is apparently due to a widespread lack of testosterone. He gives unwise medical advice, unwise mental health advice, is completely anti-porn, masturbation, and casual/hook-up sex. He puts down women who create OF content he puts down people for consuming media or getting ubereats or playing video games. He acts like he knows what women really want and that every woman who's ever done porn was exploited. He makes mention to red pill/blue pill, hints towards being a sovereign citizen, having no financial dependence on anyone else if you want to be a real man.
He leans into incel, alt-right, rhetoric.
He idolises Imperial Japan
