Exactly, he's not 5 years old, he knows what to do. I think that he wants to leave this whole thing behind him, and he will keep his friends close with no one's help. And like you said, only he can know his own relationship with other players

And about his private life, if he says there is no girlfriend, there probably is no girlfriend, no need to go further than that imo. And that isn't to say that he is a benedictine monk, ffs.
