Yeah, I'm definitely back on my writer's shenanigans. 😂

Oh, I have a great Canon Divergence idea for DanDaDan to focus on my two favourite aspects of the anime: Yokarun and MomoxOkarun.

Ah, another Canon Divergence idea, this time for how Okarun would get his powers back, getting jealous of Zuma and having a nice moment with Turbo Granny.

Damn, new idea of an AU, mix of Hellboy and MIB.

When it starts with AU ideas it is absolute proof I'm way to deep into it. I wanna finish one story first! xD

Yapping about the AU idea under the cut. Very basic concept.

I say this AU is a mix of Hellboy and MIB, but honestly, I just take the idea of an organisation dealing with Yokai and aliens from them.

So basically world governments have realised that Demons, Spirits and Yokai protect them from aliens, so they formed a sort of alliance with them. As much as that is possible, since the spiritual beings don't really have a ruler or government of their own.

Seiko and Momo (all the teenagers are 20+ in this story) working for the Japanese branch of an organisation that was formed for the alliance and are specialised in dealing with rouge Yokai/spirits.

But they don't know about the aliens, the organisation keeps most of the spirit mediums out of the loop with that.

They want to use Turbo Granny's wisdom, so they get her into the cat doll. Many Yokai who don't cooperate with them, but are useful get sealed into dolls or other harmless objects that suppress their powers.

One day Momo has to go to a local prison due to a possession. It is Okarun, who was arrested for causing a rampage in town. The poor guy has no idea was going on and Momo is the first one who believes him and offers to help. They actually have met before, when Okarun was harassed by a group of guys and Momo defended him.

They discover he is possessed by Turbo Granny, a very stubborn Yokai, who calls upon her crab ally. Momo and Okarun work together to beat the crab and weaken Turbo Granny, who they seal into Okarun for a short time.

Now that the case is closed, Seiko has to perform a ritual to cleanse Okarun and make him forget about all this happening. But before that, Momo takes him out for dinner, since she has come to like him.

During their outing they get attacked...by aliens, the Serpos, who know about Momo's powers and want them for themselves. Momo has a hard time fighting, as they henchmen and Momo is not used to aliens. Okarun can help a bit with his alien/cryptic knowledge, but not much. When Momo is about to be fatally attacked, Okarun transforms with the spiritual powers of Turbo Granny, saves her and together they can fight off the aliens.

Turns out that when they removed Turbo Granny from Okarun, it was just her soul, but not powers. It had gone unnoticed at first, as she was not supposed to be able to use her powers as doll.

In the end, the specific office Momo and Seiko worked for learnt about aliens and with some convincing Okarun was allowed to keep TG's powers and hired to assist Momo and Seiko with their missions from here on.

Wispmother - CR14 Undead

A powerful undead spirit of ghostly frost, based on the enemy from Elder Scrolls.

Among the folk tales from the northern reaches of the world are the Wispmother: ghostly women who lure unsuspecting travelers to their doom. Wispmothers take the form of elven spirits, wreathed in mist and decaying rags.

Wispmothers are not recent. They are the legacy of an ancient cult of necromancers, who thousands of years ago achieved eternal undeath by transforming their spirits into frost. No new wispmothers have been created in millennia, but destroying them is nearly impossible, and so they persist.

A victim is often initially drawn to the Wispmother by glowing, ghostly lights. Although initially passive, these creatures, frostwisps, later attack in tandem with her, distracting the victim and draining their energy. Wispmothers turn their slain victims into frostwisps, which they send out from their lairs to lure travelers to them.

I included descriptions of several of its feats, including two metamagic spell-like ability feats that aren't real feats and were never published by Paizo (although they did publish the equivalent actual metamagic feats for regular spells).

These creatures are based on the enemies of the same name from Skyrim, with their main feature being the frostwisps they control. Like basically all of my Pathfinder adaptations of creatures from other media, this isn't a direct conversion, it's just inspired by the Wispmother from Skyrim and includes some changes to make the fight more interesting.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Bonded Frostwisps (Ex) A wispmother has a number of frostwisps bonded to its service, which must stay within 500 ft. of the frostmother. A bonded frostwisp gains the Share Spells, Empathic Link, and Scry on Familiar abilities of a familiar, treating the wispmother as its master. A newly created frostmother typically has 1 bonded frostwisp, but can gain additional bonded frostwisps through its Turn to Frostwisp ability (see below), up to a maximum number of bonded frostwisps equal to half its hit dice.

If a wispmother is destroyed, its bonded frostwisps are instantly destroyed and cease being bonded to it.

Chilling Touch (Su) A wispmother's touch causes 6d6 cold damage. Whenever a creature takes cold damage from a wispmother's chilling touch, it must make a DC 25 Fortitude save to avoid being staggered by the supernatural cold for 1 round. This duration stacks. The save DC is Charisma-based.

After striking a target with its chilling touch attack on its turn, as a free action, a wispmother can attempt to dispels one magical affect effecting the target, as the targeted dispel option of dispel magic (CL 16th). The dispelling effect occurs even if the damage is negated (such as by energy resistance or immunity).

Dispel Synergy If a wispmother successfully dispels an ongoing magical effect on an opponent, that opponent takes a –2 penalty on saving throws against the wispmother's spells until the end of its next turn.

Frost Glyphs (Sp) As a standard action, as a spell-like ability, three times per day, a wispmother can place up to 8 glowing frost glyphs on surfaces she can see within medium range (typically 260 ft.). The frost glyphs must be placed at least 10 ft. apart from each other. Each frost glyph persists for 1 hour or until triggered. A frost glyph is triggered when any creature other than the frostmother or its bonded wisps moves within 10 ft. of it; the frostmother can designate other creatures that can safely approach the frost glyphs at the time of casting.

Upon being triggered, a frost glyph explodes in a 20-ft. burst of frost that deals 1d6 cold damage per 2 caster levels (typically 8d6) and slows target caught in the burst (as the slow spell) for 1 round. A successful Reflex save (typically DC 24) halves the damage and negates the slowing effect.

Glyphs cannot be affected or bypassed by such means as physical or magical probing, though they can be dispelled (doing so dispels all glyphs that were created with a single spellcast). Mislead, polymorph, and nondetection (and similar magical effects) can fool a glyph, though non-magical disguises and the like can’t. Read magic allows a creature to identify a frost glyph with a DC 17 Knowledge (arcana) check. Identifying the glyph does not discharge it and allows the creature to know the effect of the glyph.

Treat this as a 7th-level evocation [cold] spell. Spell resistance applies.

Rejuvenation (Su) In most cases, it’s difficult to destroy a wispmother through simple combat: the “destroyed” spirit restores itself in 1 year. Even the most powerful spells are usually only temporary solutions. If, after 1 year, the area where the wispmother is not below freezing, its rejuvenation is delayed until the area drops below freezing.

When a wispmother rejuvenates, it begins with only one bonded frostwisp; any others it had bonded to it before being destroyed are lost.

Restore Frostwisp (Su) As a one-round action, once every 1d3+2 rounds, a wispmother can restore all of its bonded frostwisps to full hit points and remove any harmful conditions from them, including frostwisps that have been destroyed.

Snowstorm (Su) A wispmother can cause itself to be surrounded by whirling blasts of snow, even in areas that wouldn’t allow for such weather, that comprise a 200-foot-radius spread. It can activate or deactivate this ability as a free action at the start of its turn. Within this area, the snowfall and wind gusts cause a -4 penalty on Perception checks and ranged attacks. The wind itself blows in a clockwise rotation around the wispmother, and functions as severe wind. A wispmother and its bonded wisps are unaffected by snowstorms or blizzards of any kind. Any effect that causes these winds to drop below severe (such as control weather or control winds) cancels the snowstorm effect entirely.

Studied Spell-like Ability Three times per day, when casting its snowball spell-like ability, a wispmother can enhance the spell as if with the Studied Spell metamagic. The wispmother attempts an appropriate Knowledge check based on that target’s creature type as it casts the spell. The DC for this check is equal to 20 + the creature’s CR based on its race and not including any class levels or template (a creature that is defined by class levels has an effective CR of 0 for this ability). If the wispmother succeeds, the snowball spell-like ability ignores any cold resistance the target has because of its race as well as any bonuses on saving throws against the spell granted by the target’s race (such as the bonus from a dwarf’s hardy ability or a halfling’s halfling luck ability). The snowball spell-like ability doesn’t ignore energy resistance or saving throw bonuses granted by other spells and effects. If the wispmother fails the Knowledge check, the snowball spell-like ability still has its normal effects.

Thundering Spell-like Ability Three times per day, when casting its snowball spell-like ability, a wispmother can enhance the spell as if with the Thundering Spell metamagic. If a creature takes damage from the snowball spell-like ability, it becomes deafened for 1 round; a successful Fortitude save (typically DC 18) negates the deafening effect.

Turn to Frostwisp (Ex) If a wispmother or one of her bonded frostwisps kills a living creature with at least 3 Intelligence, the creature turns into a frostwisp bonded to the wispmother after 24 hours. If the wispmother is destroyed during that time (even if it rejuvenates), or the dead creature is revived, the transformation into a frostwisp fails.

A wispmother can have a maximum number of bonded frostwisps equal to half its hit dice. If it creates another new bonded frostwisp at that point, it must choose one to release, which becomes a free-roaming uncontrolled undead (although it is not hostile to the frostmother).

1. the composite word neologism of 'chokedo' places us firmly in the tradition of tongue-in-cheek, provocative poetry, typical of the 21st century

2. 'fuck it' instead of fuck it up is brilliantly ambiguous in its succintness. it's almost like the speaker is reaching towards the platonic ideal of 'fuck it up' but cant reach it, hand perpetually outstretched as they seek solidity in the epistemologic uncertainty of the future. theres also the implication of sexuality in it but so subtle its almost freudian

3. outwualified im not sure if its a typo or an ingenious way to bring back the bwoken meme but either way its SO fascinatingly tought-provoking. it hints at age regression, going backwards in time (reinforced by the mention of the 'rookie'), but is also more literally a tiny mistake in an otherwise correctly spelled word, possibly a physical representation of the image the author is trying to paint: a single mistake rendering a qualifying lap worthy of ridicule

4. we all know track limits result in your lap being deleted rather than a penalty, but i think so does the author - they just choose to lump them all in at once, foregoing the indefinite article 'a' on purpose, to express the desperation of the speaker in their ill-will wishing. they won't be satisfied with one misfortune, they want track limits - penalty - it all. the factual error also invites the reader to question the soundness of their argument more generally, implying that perhaps the speaker themselves is subconsciously aware of the unlikely nature of their wish

5. the fourth line is where the repetition of the word 'get' starts to become especially poignant. the rule of 3 has a long history of association with magic and curses, not least of all referencing macbeth's three witches. the wishes written out as questions, all employing the same repeated formula, start to almost feel like a chant, a spellcasting. the 'get' is also ambiguous in its grammatical displacement. not attached to a verb construction like 'will get' or a subject like 'will lando / he get', the word exists basically in semantic homelessness. it floats at the beginning of the lines in a tantalisingly incomplete lowercase, hinting at whatever is supposed to come before it but ultimately cannot come before it, because of the speakers underlying uncertainty that these things will even happen. or, read differently, the 'get' almost transforms into a vocative command, asking me, the reader, to 'get' it - to understand, to show compassion, empathy

6. 'first lap incident' is a wonderful little bit of intertextuality - it shows the speaker's awareness of past correspondence between myself and (i assume) them, where i pointed out that lando has never had any dnfs out of his own driver error. the remarkably neutral and blameless 'incident' reinforces the poem's tendency to contradict itself, portraying the speaker's conscious hate and subconscious admiration of the muse (lando) for his driver skill. the balance is so impressively delicate its almost seamless

7. all of the above is such a powerful ending to the poem - due to its strong association with exams and multiple choice forms, it seems to place the burden of proof and expectation of knowledge on the reader, absolving the speaker themselves of any responsibility. although the poem obviously uses the interrogative mode as its main medium, the 'all of the above?' at the end is pushes past the rhetorical and challenges the reader directly, seemingly the last and most important attempt to get the confrontational tone across

all in all i would say this poem is very reminiscent of chelsey minnis's brilliant 2007 collection of poetry 'bad bad', in which the speaker's disillusionment with the practice of poetry is positioned as an aggressive front to mask what is really unprocessed grief and love for her late mentor. there is definitely an undercurrent of that 2000s in-your-face defiant poetry in this text, which i think plays beautifully with the characteristically 2010s broken up loose lines. fortunately, despite the author being anonymous, we can date the poem pretty exactly to anywhere after the 2023 qatar gp and before the 2023 cota gp, and i would be quite comfortable to even make the conjunction that it was typed directly into my askbox. lastly, i would ask the anonymous poet to keep applying themselves to the craft, because they have a marvellously promising future in front of them

Daemons in my setting are each associated with a negative emotion that they both create and feed upon. The vulcadaemon is a fiend of arrogance, feeding on those who believe themselves superior to others, and influencing the emotions of those it interacts with to make them look down on lesser beings.

A vulcadaemon's high intelligence is a major source of its sense of superiority, and it studies alchemy and uses it in combat. Vulcadaemons continuously study to find alchemical ways to increase their power and perfect their bodies, and make deals with arrogant mortals who wish to share their knowledge to gain immortality. Rather than taking a mortal's soul in exchange, a vulcadaemon is more likely to ask for a mortal's offspring, infusing the child with magic at a young age or siring a child with the mortal, and taking them as slaves when they reach a useful age. Vulcadaemons have been known to use their magic jar spell to take over a mortal's body in order to sire or bear a child as part of a deal, resulting in a tiefling child with the Pass For Human trait.

Its bombs function like alchemists' bombs but are made from its own fiery feathers, which it plucks from its body, turns into explosive projectiles, and launches at its opponents. Picture Gambit from the X-Men but with feathers instead of playing cards.

This is a multi-phase boss fight. A bomb deals splash damage to adjacent targets equal to the minimum damage of the bomb (typically 16 damage, or 26 damage on a critical hit). A DC 26 Reflex save halves the splash damage. The save DC is Intelligence-based.

A vulcadaemon can prepare and throw multiple bombs as a full-round action, which functions just like a full-attack with a ranged weapon.

Emerge Into Flame (Su) Once per day, a vulcadaemon can transform into a Colossal flying form made of liquid fire for 2 minutes. This does not require an action, and can be done even while helpless. When a vulcadaemon transforms into this form, it heals 80 hit points, and can remove harmful effects on itself as if it had successfully cast both cleanse and greater dispel magic (targeted dispel) at caster level 20, with a natural result of 20 on the d20 for the dispel check.

While in its emerged form, a vulcadaemon has a 30-ft. space and a 20-ft. reach. It gains a 120 ft. fly speed with good maneuverability (typically giving it a total bonus of +28 Fly) while in this form. It takes the standard -4 penalty to attack rolls and AC, and +4 bonus to CMB and CMD, along with the other typical effects of being Colossal-sized. Its damage reduction is reduced from 15 to 10.

After this effect ends, a vulcadaemon is sickened for 8 hours.

Extracts A vulcadaemon can use a number of extracts, which in many ways function similarly to spells in potion or oil form, and as such their effects can be dispelled by effects like dispel magic. It uses Intelligence as its spellcasting ability score with extracts. An extract immediately becomes inert if it leaves the vulcadaemon’s possession, reactivating as soon as it returns to the vulcadaemon's keeping. An extract, once created, remains potent for 1 day before becoming inert, so a vulcadaemon must re-prepare its extracts every day, which takes 1 minute per extract.

A vulcadaemon possesses a formula book, functioning like an alchemist's formula book, although note that several of its spells are not on the alchemist spell list and are therefore not learnable by alchemists.

A vulcadaemon can only prepare a limited number of extracts per day. Its typical extracts are listed in its statistics above, though when preparing extracts in the morning, it can choose to instead prepare any combination of 9 extracts that are in its formula book. Unlike an alchemist, a vulcadaemon's extracts are not tied to different spell levels - it can simply prepare any 9 extracts per day. This amount is based on its Intelligence modifier.

Unlike an alchemist's extracts, a vulcadaemon's extracts are "cast" by picking up an object (usually one of its feathers, which is treated as always being in hand, similar to a material component), infusing it with magic, and dissolving the object into a burning liquid. The liquid casts the spell upon touching a creature or the ground, so a vulcadaemon's spells can only target itself, a creature within its reach, or the ground underneath itself or underneath a space within its reach, instead of the normal range of the spell. A spell with an area of effect (such as fire storm or wall of fire) emanates out from the targeted ground to its normal area.

Using an extract has the same casting time as the spell, except for quickened wall of fire, which a vulcadaemon can use as a swift action.

Quickened Wall of Fire A vulcadaemon can prepare a wall of fire extract as if with the quickened spell metamagic, reducing its casting time to a swift action.

Smoke Form (Su) A vulcadaemon’s form is typically solid. As a free action it can change to a smoky form or back to solid form. It can switch forms once per round as a free action and can spend up to 20 rounds per day in smoke form. In smoke form, a vulcadaemon can fly at a speed of 50 feet (perfect). This ability is otherwise similar to a gaseous form spell (caster level 20th), except that the vulcadaemon can use its Smoke Talons ability while in this form.

Smoke Talons (Ex) A vulcadaemon using its smoke form ability can enter a target’s square as a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. The target must make a DC 26 Fortitude save or inhale part of the creature. Creatures that do not need to breathe are immune to this attack. The save DC is Constitution-based.

As a swift action while a target has inhaled this smoke, the vulcadaemon can cause the smoke inside the victim to solidify into a talon and attacks the target from within, automatically dealing 3d8 points of damage. If the target moves, the vulcadaemon may automatically move with the target; this movement does not count toward the vulcadaemon's movement, and does not provoke attacks of opportunity against or from the vulcadaemon. Each round, the target can attempt another DC 26 Fortitude save to cough out the vulcadaemon's smoke, which ends the smoke claws attack and forces the vulcadaemon into an adjacent square.

Swift Poisoning (Ex) A vulcadaemon can apply vulcadaemon poison to one of its bombs per round as a swift action, causing that bomb to poison a target struck with a direct hit. This poison becomes inert if the bomb is not thrown immediately. The poison is not applied to the splash damage.
