Reading The Smoke 01.01.2024

Even after all this time, I am still a baby witch and don't know all the card meanings off the top of my head (still using a guide). But I'm looking forward to getting the practice in this year~

Pull -The Moon (Reversed) -Eight of Wands -Ten of Pentacles (Reversed)

Meanings -The Moon (R): Release of Fear, Repressed Emotion, Inner Confusion -Eight of Wands: Speed, Action, Air Travel, Movement, Swift Change -Ten of Pentacles (R): The dark side of wealth, Financial failure or loss

Intent / Interpretation: My intent with this pull was to get a sort of baseline. Taking my goals and current plans into account, I wanted to see what the future looks like on this path.

The Moon reversed pulled as my first card. Honestly, this one made a lot of sense, particularly with the release of fear. I just recently confronted someone close to me on how they've been treating me and set some boundaries with a deadline for them. I had been putting it off for a few months, giving them the benefit of the doubt and taking on certain responsibilities onto myself. I finally took the time to stand up for myself, while the result of that is yet to be seen.

The Eight of Wands was a bit on the nose, but not in a bad way! Swift change is probably referencing my roommate situation (considering the ultimatums I gave to continue living with them) or just with my plans to better myself. A lot of change all at once that will take a lot to keep up. Even daily pulls is a massive change. Air travel also makes sense, considering I have a work trip coming up and some plans to travel out of state for a bit.

The Ten of Pentacles reversed worries me a bit. A lot of my goals and plans involve finances and money to back them. A financial loss could be seen as a good thing in literal senses, since it could mean that the loss is played in tandem with completing some of my goals. A financial failure could also mean that I don't do any of what I intend to do. It's hard to tell at this point.

Overall, this feels optimistic to me. I choose to see this as optimistic, regardless of how much the final card worries me. I'm starting on a better foot this year, with more respect for myself and surrounded by people who want what's best for me. I can do this!

A nice day starting the new year. Practised boundaries with incoming call from mother with ease. Now to navigate text. First day back at work tomorrow, I feel quite excited actually. Not quite an adventure but I do enjoy the nature of the work, it is stimulating. Been thinking about budgeting, will need to commit in 2024 to lowering spending... I just can't think where it all goes sometimes.

I became a star-seller on Etsy in November and have maintained that status into the new year!

I also made 200 sales since I opened my sticker + zine shop in May. THAT'S CRAZY.

I really wanted to close out the year having reached 200 sales, and I'm really stoked that it actually happened. I got my 201st sale New Year's Eve.

I feel like I just got the hang of Etsy and running a shop. Soon I'll have to figure out taxes (fun), but I'm excited to see how this thing progresses. I have plans for new designs and products that I want to try out in 2024. We'll see.

I am branching out into the weird and wacky world of freelance design this year and hope to perhaps table at one or two events.

It's an exciting and stressful time. A real mixed bag of emotions.
