TO CONTINUE TO BELIEVE IN THE SAMCAIT SHIP EXTREME SHPPERS HAVE TO DISMISS A-L-L OF THIS EVIDENCE AGAINST THE SHIP: PART II (January 2017 to June 2018)

This is the second part of a post that lists most of the evidence against the SamCait ship. See PART I of this post for evidence from October 2014 through December 2016.

2017

Sam with MacKenzie in Switzerland. (They both post separate pictures of themselves in the Alps in early January 2017. And recently on 02.14.18, the man who owns a restaurant that Sam and MacKenzie visited in Switzerland posted a photo of the two of them as part of a Valentine’s day mantage on his IG. It was also clear from a photo he posted on 01.28.18 of pictures of celebrities in his restaurant that that photo had been up for some time--probably from when Sam and MacKenzie were there in January 2017.)

In a 01.09.17 IG post Cait thanked her team for preparing her for the Golden Globes the previous evening: “It takes a village … well actually it takes @taraswennen @garethbromell @marywilesmakeup … thank you for being brilliant and fun and making a girl feel and look beautiful … ❤❤❤” No mention of Tony even though we have photos of Cait with Tony at the W Magazine Pre-Golden Globes Party (01.05.17) and a photo of Cait with Tony at the Weinstein Company And Netflix Golden Globes After Party (01.08.17), putting the lie to the rumor that Tony is her “PA” andjust a part of her “team.”

(Undoubtedly Sam had to approve the press release that his PR representative put out about this--so the press release was an indirect statement by Sam acknowledging that Sam and MacKenzie are a couple.)

Sam posts a picture of himself on 04.15.17 from Stellenbosch that someone else took. MacKenzie likes the picture.

Cait posts a picture on 04.15.17 that appears to be about two hours away from Stellenbosch. She is apparently on a separate vacation. (It is assumed that Tony is with her.)

MacKenzie posts an IG Story from Heathrow airport indicating she is picking up an international connecting flight (04.13.17). She follows an actress who works in SA. She later posts a picture from Stellenbosch (04.16.17).

Sam likes and retweets a post about MacKenzie’s charity; he also likes a post about her charity on IG (04.24.17).

Cait tweets a happy birthday message to Sam where she tells him to look outside at a rainbow--suggesting she was not with him when she tweeted him (04.30.17).

MacKenzie posts a number of photos from South Africa including one that suggests she was still there on Sam’s birthday (April/ May 2017).

Nic Rasenti, an Outlander actor and trainer at Sam’s gym who organized Sam’s birthday party, liked a collage of Sam and MacKenzie that was posted on IG on 04.18.17.

Cait posts a belated birthday celebratory picture of herself, some crew members and Sam and MacKenzie where it is clear that MacKenzie and Sam are a couple. Sam “likes” the picture (05.02.17).

Nic Rasenti’s girlfriend Nicole (who probably met Sam and MacKenzie at the party) tweeted this on 05.04.17 (after probably seeing MacKenzie be attacked on IG): “have you ever read the comments on pictures of famous men's partners/spouses on SM!? wow. Just horrifying. women are so fucking mean.” [emphasis added]

A chef who apparently cooked part of Sam’s birthday party celebration (on his actual birthday) tweeted Sam and MacKenzie on 05.05.17 to ask if they liked the “toasties” that he prepared for the celebration. (This was further clarified through other tweets.)

MacKenzie and Sam become more open about liking each other’s posts on social media. MacKenzie and Cait mutually follow each other on twitter. (Spring/ Summer 2017)

Sam and Cait spend the first part of the hiatus apart. Sam in Glasgow and later NYC; Cait at the Kariega Game Reserve in Africa and later in London. ( 06.18.17-06.25.17; see this POST for information, especially about the sightings of Sam in NYC, including MoMA sighting listed below.)

A fan tweets that she saw Sam at the MoMA in NYC. The fan also confirms that she saw MacKenzie with him (06.24.17).

MacKenzie posts a picture on IG from her room in NYC (06.25.17). (Contrary to what certain ES are claiming, the room had a slightly different view than the view of a couple that posted a photo from a similar room a few days before MacKenzie posted. They are not the same view.)

Nicole (the girlfriend of the guy who arranged for Sam’s birthday party) left a comment on Sam’s IG Barbour photo that showed Sam and a dog. It said: “@mackenziemauzy …baby steps! 😜🐾” Unfortunately, she ended up deleting it (most likely because she got flack from extreme shippers).

Sam arrives at LAX airport on 07.20.17 and leaves for SDCC in a van that does not contain Cait. Cait is on the road (given when she did some Q & A) about 2:30 PDT but Sam doesn’t land at LAX reportedly until about 5:00 PDS. So they didn’t travel together.

Sam and MacKenzie are seen together looking like a couple on 07.21.17 in San Diego.

In an a 07.21.17 interview with Lynette Rice for EW, Sam is heard in the VIDEO once again denying a relationship with Cait. Sam described an “awkward moment” when a fan sent him a letter saying that they were “very upset” that himself and Cait were “obviously not together” and that they had been “lying to them all this time.” [emphasis added]

Sam and MacKenzie are captured on VIDEO on 07.22.17 at their hotel walking towards their car to go to the EW Comic-Con party. Sam puts his arm behind Mac’s back in a protective gesture when she steps from the curb.

An e-online article dated 07.23.17 states that the previous evening at the EW Comic-Con party “Sam Heughan and his girlfriend MacKenzie Mauzy hung out with his co-stars after entering the party holding hands.” [emphasis added] A GIF from a VIDEO shows MacKenzie and Sam arriving at the EW Comic-Con party and Sam appearing to turn back and look at MacKenzie and possibly offered her his hand to help her out of the van before signing autographs.

On 07.30.17 Sam posts a photo on both IG and twitter of himself and MacKenzie together at the F1 Grand Prix in Budapest. Sahara Force India also posts a photo of Sam and Mac at the F1 Grand Prix (07.30.17).

On 07.30.17 Just Jared declared that “Sam Heughan and his girlfriend MacKenzie Mauzy are still going strong after several months of dating!“ [emphasis added]

A fan who took a photo (posted 04.30.17) with Sam in SA on his birthday writes on Sam’s 07.30.17 IG post: “I met both Sam and Mackenzie - @mackenziemauzy was just absolutely lovely, so friendly, kind and beautiful beyond words. They looked genuinely happy together, and even f I hadn’t known who they both were, I would’ve thought they were genuinely in love and quite besotted with each other. I’ve seen them together with my own eyes, when they had no idea that anyone around them knew who they were and could see that this relationship has absolutely nothing to do with PR.” [emphasis added]

On 08.02.17 a 71 year-old fan posted evidence on her blog that she had seen Sam leave MacKenzie’s condo early one morning for a run. She reiterated this several days later (around 08.11.17) in an exchange with a major ES where she said: “So....Sam is not with MM. Why then would he have been seen leaving her condo one early morning for run?” When the ES questioned her about her account she said: “It is not a made up story. (I am 71 years old, live in LA, and do not have a need to make up anything).They were not running together. He was alone.” [emphasis added]

In a METRO interview posted on 08.03.17 Cait was asked whether she “missed Sam” when “not filming” and she said:”A healthy break from each other is sometimes good! We’re great mates and we check in every now and then but he goes off to his life and I go off to mine.” When asked about how she “handles” the “speculation” that she is dating Sam she said: “There’s nothing to handle. We aren’t and we’ve always said that we’re not together. It’s nice that fans believe in the story but that’s not the reality. If it’s harmless speculation, that’s fine, but sometimes people take it a little further and can get abusive to the people who are in our lives — that’s when it crosses the line. But it’s rare and in this industry you need a thick skin.” [emphasis added] Cait retweeted and commented about the interview being only 60 seconds long and Sam responded to her retweet/ comment and also liked Cait’s retweet.

On 08.05.17 MacKenzie posts a photo on IG taken in the Lake Balaton/ Pincészet wine country of Hungary. They were most likely there together as Sam was also in Hungary shooting TSWDM. (Contrary to rumors that he was in Ukraine just because his co-star Mila Kunis was spotted there, most likely visiting relatives. TSWDM’s shooting locations do not include the Ukraine.)

A friend of Cait’s posts an IG photo of herself and Cait in London (08.07.17). Clearly Cait is not choosing to be where Sam is shooting TSWDM.

Rik Rankin stated in an interview published 09.01.17 in The Herald Scotland: "I know that Sam and Caitriona [Balfe] have gone through a fair amount of drama with people flat-out insisting they are a couple. They present to the public their respective partners, but the [diehard fans] go: 'Nope, it's all a lie. A facade. You are a couple,' because folk are so invested in it." [emphasis added]. Therefore Rik confirms that Sam and Cait are not a couple and that they have shown “the public” their real partners (i.e., MacKenzie and Tony, respectively).

A 09.05.17 Marie Claire article by Ruby Buddemeyer stated that: “Although their on-screen chemistry is undeniable, Heughan and Balfe are not a real-life couple. And the two are tired of fans assuming they’re dating. Heughan is actually dating actress Mackenzie Mauzy. The pair has been together since February 2017.And Balfe has been dating Tony McGill for a few years.” [emphasis added] (Note that they got the date that MacKenzie and Sam started dating wrong but everything else was correct. They appear to have used their coming out as a couple at Oscar parties as their start date.)

Photos were taken of Sam and MacKenzie at the Refinery29 Third Annual 29Rooms:Turn It Into Art event in NYC (09.07.17).

Photos were taken of Sam and MacKenzie at the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party, Spring Summer 2018, NYFW (09.08.17)

Publications such as Hollywood Life (09.08.17), Just Jared (09.08.17), and The Scottish Sun (09.09.17) all reported on Mackenzie and Sam as a couple stepping out for New York Fashion Week.

A candid photo is taken of Cait and Tony attending the US Open in NYC (09.09.17).

A photo was posted on Nicole Reichlin’s IG dated 09.11.17. It showed Sam, MacKenzie, Nicole and Ric on 09.09.17 at the ‘Escape Room, Hi-Tech Games’ in NYC. Sam and MacKenzie both liked the post and Sam also commented: “So fun. Love you guys!xx,” indicating that he approved of the post.

On 09.10.17 Cait indicated that Sam was on a flight even though she was still in NYC: “I don't know .... I forgot to ask him ... @SamHeughan when you get off your plane can you tell me !!” Although some fans thought that Cait might have lied about Sam leaving NYC and they were excited that a fan photo with him came out on 09.17.17, the fan said the photo had been taken the previous weekend (on the 9th or 10th). Sam was in NYC on the 9th and most of the 10th as well (since Cait said he was on a plane that evening at 8:12 pm EDT). So the fan photo did not contradict Cait’s account.

Cait did some interviews in Canada without Sam on 09.12.17 including these interviews with The Morning Show and ET Facebook Live Canada, among others.

An interview in W Magazine published 09.14.17 indicated that Cait’s “boyfriend” was texting her in the Crosby Street Hotel lobby in NYC on 09.13.17 at the same time that we knew that Sam had left NYC on the 10th. So that boyfriend, who we see sitting in the green room had to be Tony.

In a 09.14.17 IG post Cait thanked her team who helped her to prepare for Late Night with Seth Meyers: “Thank you so much @taraswennen @garethbromell @gpcbeauty.” Tony wasn’t mentioned as being on the team, even though he was photographed sitting in the green room of the show.

On 09.15.17 Cait goes on a tour of One World Observatory. The tour guide replies to a tweet from Cait: “It was such a pleasure to show you around! I hope to see you both again soon, and good luck with everything.” [emphasis added] That she says “you both” and does not tag Sam, suggests that Cait was with Tony (who to my knowledge is not on social media).

On 09.14.17 MacKenzie posts a photo from what appears to be Cassis, France. On 09.16.17 she posts a photo from Provence, France. On 09.18.17 she posts two photos from Roussillon in Provence. On 09.18.17 Sam posts a photo of himself in the MPC facebook group in Provence a short distance from Roussillon (at The Dead Tree of Goult). Although certain ES claim it is an old photo because Sam’s hair looks red and too long, it was determined that the red tint to his hair was due to the setting sun and/ or a filter and that some reddish brown vegetation in the background was mistaken by an ES for Sam’s hair. It was posted the same day as MacKenzie’s Roussillion photo. Since Sam had said that he had wanted to post the previous day but didn’t have wifi, it was likely that both photos were taken on 09.17.17 and that both Sam and MacKenzie were touring Provence together. Sam’s times on social media were reportedly European starting on the 11th, which was consistent with Sam being with MacKenzie in France. (Sam later acknowledged in a 10.22.17 Harper’s Bazaar article that he was on “a five-day vacation in the south of France with...MacKenzie.”)

It was reported that Sam and MacKenzie were both on social media at 10: 30 pm EDT (on 09.19.17) or 4:30 am CEST/ Provence time (on 09.20.17). People assumed they were traveling possibly to the U.S.

On 09.19.17 Cait tweets: “I gave my #firsttenner to @wchildcancer to help children with cancer in developing countries, WILL YOU?” It shows a photo of her with a new Brittish £10 note, which had been released in England and Wales on 09.14.17. Consequently it was assumed that Cait was in London when she took the photo with the tenner. In addition it appears that Cait was in Paris on 09.24.17 based on an IG Story. All of this puts the lie to the ES claim that Cait was with Sam on 09.23.17 at Newark airport, which was based on a tiny, blurry picture of a woman with dark hair worn in a loose bun in the background of a fan photo with Sam that certain fans were claiming was Cait.

MacKenzie attends The Lone Bellow Summer Stage concert in NYC on 09.21.17 and posts a video on her IG the next day. Other IG photos that show both Sam and MacKenzie at the concert are also posted.

Sam shows up at MPC2017 event by himself in Glasgow on 09.24.17 and had a wonderful time with the Peakers. It is noteworthy that MacKenzie liked a photo related to the event on Sam’s IG as well as a photo on the mypeakchallenge IG.

Sam and MacKenzie are photographed on the street in NYC on 09.28.17. One of the photos is published the next day in Popsugar.

MacKenzie and Sam are spotted by a fan outside the theater showing Dear Evan Hansen on 09.29.17. This is part of the fan’s description of the encounter: “When I finally saw Sam he was holding MacKenzie’s hand and they ran across the street. Sam was wearing his gold suede jacket and jeans. MacKenzie had on a black skirt, I think, and high heeled short boots. She look BEAUTIFUL. She is just stunning in person. When they reach the other side of the street, they wrapped their arms around each other and walked quickly down the block and around the corner. They looked happy and energized.” [emphasis added] This fan sent the information as an anon to a truther about 14 hours before MacKenzie posted an IG post on 09.30.17 with a Dear Even Hansen Playbill. On 11.19.17 Sam tweets in response to @EW’s tweet about Ben Platt’s final performance of Dear Evan Hansen: “What a show, heartbreaking and soulful performance. Oh to be back there in the audience.” This confirms that Sam did indeed see the show sometime in the past, adding further confirmation to the fan’s story.

Sam and Cait reportedly arrive and depart separately from a NYC Voyage and Charity Event on 09.30.17.

In a Harper’s Bazaar article by Julie Kosin, dated 10.22.17, Sam finally acknowledges that MacKenzie is his girlfriend. Kosin writes: “The next time I meet with Heughan, it’s a warm, late-September day a few weeks after his photo shoot...he’s visibly more relaxed now that the Outlander press tour is over, even though he’s stayed just as busy: a five-day vacation in the south of France with his girlfriend, actress MacKenzie Mauzy. [....] Heughan also manages to keep his personal life relatively private. He doesn’t divulge much about Mauzy, other than the fact he met her at an industry event, and that she’s had to deal with a bit of social media trolling from his fans. ‘Initially, it is upsetting but, ultimately, it doesn't mean anything. It feels like a schoolyard thing.’” [emphasis added] Sam also thanked the interviewer Julie Kosin on twitter and also tweeted the article and commented positively about it on twitter on 10.23.17.

On 10.28.17 a fan asks Cait during a twitter Q & A: “do you ever look at Sam as Jamie and think damn boy!😂” to which Cait responds: “Nope. Then I would be a crazy person!!!!” [emphasis added]

Sam and Cait arrived separately to the BAFTA Scotland ceremony on 11.05.17. Tony sat next to Cait during the ceremony.

On 11.17.17 Shatner tweeted that Sam and Cait were not a couple, that he had met Sam’s girlfriend, who wasn’t Cait and that the rumors that his girlfriend was dating someone else weren’t true.

On 11.25.17 Abbie finally CONFIRMS that she used to date Sam. The context for this was a troll had gotten Abbie to change her avi. Another fan explained that the troll wanted the avi changed because the photo reminded ES of when she was dating Sam. She said getting rid of the avi makes it “like you never dated Sam.” To which Abbie replied, “I think everyone knows I did. But that was then and this is now.” [emphasis added] She ended up deleting the comment, most likely because she wanted to avoid trolls attacking her (and AT LEAST ONE unfortunately did).

On 12.05.17 the Chicago Tribune publishes an interview with Sam where he once again states that he was in Thailand for New Year’s Eve 2015. He also comments on a number of destinations that there is evidence he has been to with MacKenzie, including Saint Lucia, Amsterdam, Montreal, the Isle of Skye, Switzerland, NYC, Santa Monica, and Cape Town.

On 12.14.17 Diana Gabaldon clarified once again on her Facebook page that Sam and Cait are not a couple and that they are dating others. This was Diana’s response to a fan who wanted Sam and Cait to be a couple: “Sorry about that one. <g> They both have significant others who are not each other. But they_are_best friends--and a good thing, given that with the hours they work, they don’t have time for anything like a normal social life.” [emphasis added]

On 12.17.17 Glamour UK ranks Sam 87 out of the 100 sexiest men of the year and states: “Single? Another no. The 6ft 3in Scot is currently dating “Into The Woods” star MacKenzie Mauzy.” [emphasis added]

On 12.19.17 Just Jared announced that Sam was their most popular actor for 2017 and mentioned that “Sam also made several public appearances with his girlfriend Mackenzie Mauzy this year and fans couldn’t help but click through all the pics!” [emphasis added]

On 12.23.17 Tony is seen in a photo with Cait in Australia while Sam is at a rugby game in Glasgow.

2018

On January 1, 2018 James Houston posts an IG story that shows Cait and Tony looking happy together on a beach in Australia.

Also on 01.01.18 the photographer Craig Parry wrote on Cait’s IG “Lovely meeting you guys and congratulations xx Hopefully see you both tomorrow @caitrionabalfe.” [emphasis added] A couple of hours later entertainment journalist/ editor Melissa Hoyer, who had spent the day with Cait and Tony and their friends on the beach in Australia wrote on her IG: “also so lovely to meet the gorgeous actress @caitrionabalfe....And Caitriona just newly engaged too!” [emphasis added] After hours of harassment by certain Outlander fans, and Melissa changing the caption several times, Melissa deleted the post--but she never retracted her statement.

On 01.04.18 a photo is published of Tony, Cait and Sam at W’s Best Performances Party at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

On 01.07.18 videos show Cait and Tony at the Golden Globes.

On 01.07.18 People officially announced Cait’s engagement. “Caitriona Balfe is engaged, PEOPLE can exclusively confirm.Balfe showed off her new sparkler at the Golden Globes on Sunday night (get a close-up view here).’It happened over the break. I’m very happy,’ she told PEOPLE.The Outlander actress, 38, has been dating Tony McGill for nearly two years.” [emphasis added]

On January 8 and 9, 2018 friends and colleagues congratulated Cait on her engagement including Terry Dresbach, Margaret Gardiner, Diana Gabaldon and Kristin Dos Santos. Furthermore, Cait’s BFF Donal Brody liked the EW announcement of Cait’s engagement on IG and her sister tweeted a radio show asking for a shout out for Cait’s three GG nominations as well as for her engagement. Furthermore Sam also liked Kristin Dos Santos’ IG post congratulating Cait. Finally, a fan congratulated Cait on her engagement to Tony and Cait liked the tweet.

On 01.20.18 MacKenzie posts an IG story where she is flying into an airport, which is identified as Glasgow by fans based on the landscape. On 01.21.18 she posts a video of The Lone Bellow concert in Glasgow, that it was presumed she attended with Sam.

On 01.27.18 a fan posted a photo of Sam and MacKenzie waiting for a taxi outside of the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow. On 01.28.18 Sam posts a video from that Festival.

Cait and Tony are seen at the IFTA on 02.15.18. When Cait won Best Actress in a TV Drama, she kissed Tony and then she thanked Tony in her acceptance speech.

On 02.17.18, the Independent.ie posted a couple of photos of Cait and Tony on the street in Dublin. The article mentioned their engagement and how Tony is shy.

Cait and Tony are also seen at the Grey Goose BAFTA after-party in London on 02.18.18.

Sam and MacKenzie appear to be in NYC together between 02.16.18 and 02.23.18. MacKenzie is spotted in NYC on 02.16.18. Sam is reported to be in NYC around February 17th and the photo he posts appears to be on the West Side Highway Bike Path in NYC, which is where a fan claimed that she saw him. Davie indicates that Sam is not at work on 02.19.18. MacKenzie posts an IG story on 02.23.18) with her friend Patti Murin from the Frozen show (the previous night). Sam likes a tweet that MacKenzie made about the show and follows both Patti and her husband Colin Donnell and those two follow Sam--suggesting that Sam was with MacKenzie at the play.

On 02.24.18 Sam posts a video of a game in Edinburgh and MacKenzie likes the video. She then posts an IG story with a video from the same game, at approximately the same spot and with audio that sounds like Sam.

On 02.25.18 MacKenzie posts a photo of the Forth Bridges in Edinburgh. There is a shadow in the photo that appears to be MacKenzie with Sam.

There was some circumstantial evidence that Sam and MacKenzie spent the March 24th weekend together in NYC. MacKenzie had been in NYC based on her various IG stories and posts (see this POST on 03.30.18, this POST on 03.29.18, this POST on 03.24.18.) Sam often goes “radio silent” when he is seeing Mackenzie. Sam stopped tweeting after Thursday 03.22.18, retweeted one thing on 03.26, and then went back to regular tweeting on Tuesday 03.27. He posted something on IG on 03.21 and then didn’t post there again until 03.28. And then Sam made a public tweet about a problem with accommodations he had apparently booked through onefinestay and MacKenzie liked onefinestay’s response to the tweet.

MacKenzie posted an IG photo flying over Rhône-Alpes, France on April 2, 2018. Sam liked the photo. This suggested that Sam and MacKenzie spent Easter together in France.

A fan claimed that the photo in which she appeared with Sam in NYC outside a Met Gala pre-party on May 6, 2018 was taken by MacKenzie. Of course the fan was later attacked for this and stood up to the attackers. (However, it is noteworthy that the fan later changed the post caption and took out the part about MacKenzie. She might have yielded to pressure but there is also the possibility that the fan became uncertain that the woman was MacKenzie after another fan showed her a photo of MacKenzie in DM.)

Tony was Cait’s plus one at the BAFTA TV awards on 05.13.18.

Cait says in an Irish Tatler interview on 06.13.18: “It’s nice that people kind of see something in that, but you know, we’ve always just been friends. And I said it from the beginning but people didn’t want to hear it!”

I’m sure I left some things out but I believe this list (from both Part I and Part II combined) is solid proof that Sam and Cait are not a couple. It is very strong proof that Tony and Cait are a couple and that Sam and MacKenzie and Sam and Abbie used to be couples.

Cait and Sam have worked hard to put an end to the rumors that they are a couple. It might be helpful if fans took this into account in how they fan them.
