Okay, so I've seen a lot of posts on the "should Morro have stayed dead or should he have been given a redemption arc" and all that and I just kind of wanted to share my thoughts on the topic. I don't think his canon ending is bad, in fact there's a lot I like about it. It's a tragedy and a very good one at that. The way it ends with him and Wu, and with the whole "you can only save those who wish to be saved" quote? That's poignant, that has narrative weight. I think to say that it's bad is to ignore a lot of what makes Morro a good character. He's a reflection of Wu as a teacher, his teachings, and he's a foil to Kai specifically. He shows us why Wu works better now, and why he teaches the way he does. A large component of what makes his story have depth isn't just that he died young and was traumatized it's that he continued a cycle of trauma on with Lloyd (and Cole, if you considered that he dies indirectly due to Morro's actions but that's another topic). He's a bad person, he did really bad things, that's part of who he is. But, I think it's a misstep to call him irredeemable. I think that misses the point of his character entirely actually, like severely. Morro isn't irredeemable, he shows that he's capable of growth in the very scene he dies in! That's part of the tragedy too! It's not a 'hot-take' to miss the point of a character because it's the cool fandom opinion of the month actually. I know people are frustrated at the fandom misogyny in how people talk about Morro vs. Harumi and I agree, it is frustrating, but y'all are just spreading around just plain bad takes and that's getting frustrating.
On the topic of missteps, as much as I do like it, I also think it was a misstep in how DOTD handled Morro. In general DOTD has some interesting ideas and concepts but is overall flat and under-cooked. Morro's part in it isn't excluded from that. DOTD brings him back, it shows that he is extremely capable of change and growth, and understanding (which is something you guys like to ignore too, actually). Then, it has him just leave again, die and I understand why but I think it's very genuinely sad in a way I don't think was intended, or well done. I think it backtracks on the narrative weight his conclusion in Possessed had. Possessions' ending for him is sad but it has depth and weight. DOTD just brings him back for fan service, and again, just has him die, and it's because he wants to. I understand they were going for a "at peace" kind of approach with him but it just falls flat in my opinion. If they were going to bring him back, and I know this is kind of a debated topic, I think they should've just kept him. And everyone who says that he wouldn't be capable of change for that is dead-wrong, the show proves it, and just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad. In terms of how it's handled in fanon, I think it's a mixed bag. Some people do it really well, faithful to his character but other times I think he just gets hit with the fanonization beam really hard. Sometimes you see his woobification of him based on the trauma and death he went through, and that erases what makes him and any sort of possible redemption or relationships with him interesting. I think people tend to miss the idea that a redemption is both not something a character has to 'deserve' (because redemption doesn't equal forgiveness) and also something a character has to work towards. The idea a redemption has to be deserved (as a moral concept not a narrative concept), instead of something worked towards by the character presents in people downplaying his actions and effects, but also in people acting like redemption is inherently reductive to his character because he's bad guys, he's a bad guy guys. Bad guys don't deserve redemption guys (/sarcastic). To be entirely real, I do think redemption can and does have a place in his writing. You can't look at how he acted at the end of possession and DOTD and tell me otherwise. Redemption in fiction at the end of the day is a narrative device and trope, and how a character is written informs their development. Additionally, I think some of you guys take his "you can only save those who want to be saved" way way too literally. That, too, is tragic and it's not because it's right. When characters speak, nine times out of ten, you're not supposed to baselessly accept and internalize what they say as correct and true. Was it true when Cole said he wasn't a ninja after dying in the same season? Was it true when Kai said he deserves to be the green ninja, just because he said it? Come on. Also, just, I think sometimes this fandom needs to accept different people find different things appealing and cathartic. It's okay to prefer a tragedy, but it's also okay to prefer the idea of him redeeming himself (because it takes work) and healing. There's this whole argument about whether or not saying he should've gotten a redemption arc (kind of a stupid question to begin with, in my opinion) but at the end of the day, it's already done. Also, both ends of the spectrum can have the most frustrating takes on him, and yeah I'm going to be annoyed and salty about it if you couldn't already tell. Anyways, there's no proper point to this because it's really just be ranting about several things I find really frustrating about how people handle this topic, so take it as you will. You can disagree, but I'm not saying his ending is bad nor that his tragedy is bad. In fact if you disagree I encourage that this fandom is way too prone to just parroting each others (mostly bigger blogs) opinions and not their own personal ones, so yeah.

What if...?
What if the incense burner temporarily set Wei Wuxian's memories back to when he was thrown into the Burial Mounds?
...
Lan Wangji is pretty used to his husband moving around a decent bit in his sleep. But something was a bit different this time? Wei Ying seemed to be dreaming. Clearly not a normal dream too, he seemed... pained. Whimpers and mumbled hurt pleas coming from his beloved's mouth made his heart ache. It felt worse then what in the fights against the wens, the discipline whips, it hurt worse then anything to see his beloved in pain yet again...
"Wei Ying..."
There was a quick pause, it seemed like forever though until Wei Ying's eyes opened. He looked tired; confused, as if he didn't know where he was or who was calling to him.
-
Wei Ying didn't know what was going on. The last thing he remembered was the resentful energy from the Burial Mounds entering his body as it felt like his body was being torn apart and put back together again; over and over again. His vision had gone blury from tears welling up in his eyes from the pain of it all. Yet, why was the pain gone when he opened his eyes? Sure the pain wasn't all gone, there was an odd pain in his lower body and his lips felt swollen but, that was nothing compared to what he had just felt. So why was all the pain gone now? His vision blurred still from seemingly just waking up. Was that his name being called?
This room. It seems so much like the rooms back in gusu if not a bit better built. Him back in gusu though? Hah! He was just in the Burial Mounds, why would he ever be back in Gusu? He tried to sit up despite his lower back protests only to be helped up by a gentle hand. He recognized the voice of who spoke after though. Lan Zhan, why was he here?
"Wei Ying?"
Okay he definitely was not imagining all this. But why was wherever here was with Lan Zhan!?
"Lan Zhan... What's going on? Weren't you back in Gusu?"
His voice sounded odd now that he heard it out loud. It was laced with sleep, but it sounded higher for some reason?
"Mhm. We are in Gusu, Wei Ying. Where else would we be right now?"
Since when did Lan Zhan speak so sweet!? Okay he must be dreaming. Maybe it's just a side effect of the resentful energy, it's probably just messing with his head! Yeah that's it! But if so why the heck did his head decide to show Lan Wangji in his inner robes???
"I-I don't" Oh he was sure as hell blushing now. Why did Lan Zhan have to look so hot in his dreams!? Unfair! "This is just a dream! Resentful energy, spirits, whatever! Why the hell did you make me dream of Lan Zhan?! Is this so cruel joke because you got tired of causing me pain?"
Whatever spirits are causing this dream are truly dumb if they think he's gonna fall for this! But, why the hell does Lan Zhan look so concerned???
"Hm. Where does Wei Ying think he is now?" Dream Lan Zhan stop looking so concerned! My heart can't take it, just because you rejected me back at the cold springs doesn't mean my crush went away! Traitor!!! It doesn't stop him from scowling at the "fake" Lan Zhan though as he spoke.
"I'm still in the Burial Mounds since Wen Chao pushed me in, obviously! Where else would I be? Yunmeng just got destroyed, I gave Jiang Cheng my golden core, then I got taken by the Wens, and Wen Chao pushed me into the Burial Mounds." Like some resentful spirits or whatever you are could make me forget all that just with some dream, even if it is a pretty nice dream...
-
"Mhm. And how old is Wei Ying now?"
So, his beloved thinks he's back to when he was 18. He thinks... he is back to when he was pushed into the Burial Mounds. Wen Chao wasn't lying as those years ago... He pushed Wei Ying into that place for him to die. If Wen Chao wasn't already long dead he'd, no, that is not a problem right now. The problem is that Wei Ying thinks he is 18 again and believes this all to be a dream... This is going to be a problem.

If Poolverine didn't happen, I wouldn't be surprised, and here's why.
There are 2 main reasons.
Disney is probably not going to let it happen.
Poolverine doesn't HAVE to be romantic
LET'S GET ONE THING PERFECTLY CLEAR, I WOULD FUCKING LOVE IT IF POOLVERINE BECAME CANON! I AM AN AVID SUPPORTER OF THE SHIP, AND I CONSUME CONTENT DAILY!
All that being said, let's get into my reasons.
Ramble below the cut.
Disney probably isn't going to let it happen
Disney, let's be honest, most likely isn't going to let it happen. Think about it, Deadpool is a pan king, but it's played off as a joke (even In the comics, sometimes). He is a crazy, hyper-sexual pan king, and it's part of the reason I love him.
I know he is like that in the comics, but, to me at least, it feels like more of a joke in the movies. He never has anyone but Vanessa, whereas in the comics, he has Copycat, Siryn, Mercades, Outlaw, Carmelita Chamacho (Ellie's mom), Shikla, Domino, Ms. Marvel, Mystique, Black Widow (kinda), Broken Blade, Rogue, Jennifer Kale,
Non-female love interests include: Valentine Vuong (they-them), Death (literally the personification of Death), (these last two are a bit of a stretch, but I'm counting them because they are the most popular Deadpool ships), Spider-Man (male), and Wolverine (male).
Edit: Cable (male).
Plus, in the comics, Deadpool says this. "My turn-ons include anything with skin, sea anemones, and the Washington Monument." (This was in a Deadpool and Wolverine Comic, I just can remember which one, but I wrote down the quote to use in a later fanfic).
They make references in the Deadpool Movies to his pansexuality, but they always make a joke out of it. I dunno, it just never felt like in the movies, he could have a non-female love interest.
Onto Wolverine, my favorite bi short king. He will NEVER have a male love interest. Because he is the most popular X-Men (heck, maybe even Marvel superhero) ever. This post I saw explained it better than I could. Ima a quote it real quick.
"Disney wouldn't make an openly gay character, would they? Deadpool is fine because he's a joke but Wolverine would never be seriously gay, even if he was queer in the comics."
Wolverine was very queer in the comics, having relationships and one night stands with both men and women.
His love interests include: Jean (female), Storm (female), Mariko Yashida (female), Viper (Madame Hydra) (female), Domino (female), Rogue (female), Hercules (Male) (In an alternate universe, Wolverine and Hercules are depicted as lovers), Nightcrawler (male), and Deadpool (male).
All this to say, Deadpool is a joke (even if he is one of the most beloved anti-heroes) and can do whatever the fuck he wants, but Wolverine would not be queer in the movies, even if Deadpool was.
Now onto my most personal reason: TWO QUEER CHARACTERS CAN JUST BE FRIENDS WITHOUT ANY ROMANTIC FEELINGS BETWEEN THEM!!!!
The main reason for this being my main reason is because of this: my best friend, whom I've known since 1st grade, and I are EXTREMELY DP&W coded. We actually have the necklaces that came out around the same time as the movie (I have Deadpool and she has Wolverine). But we are in NO WAY romantic or in a relationship.
But my friend is basically Wolverine. She's unbelievably short, kitty-cat coded, violent (I will touch on this in a second), mean to people she doesn't like, and has a snarky (albeit more perverted than Wolverine) sense of humor. She is also omnisexual (meaning pan but with a preference).
I am much like Deadpool. I am tall, violent, snarky, and perverted in my sense of humor, and kinda insane (will touch on this at the same time I will touch on violence). Plus, I am bisexual (well, technically pan, but we don't need to get into that in this post).
My friend (I will be calling her Kitty) will literally punch her friends (mostly me) in the back as a way of saying hello. I have gotten stabbed with so many pencils in my time of being friends with her that I might have a few marks. But I don't mind.
I have a hight ass pain tolerance, and I will start giggling and smiling when I am in excruciating pain, like when I have my period cramps, I will just me on the couch, giggling to myself. That’s the probably insane part of my personality.
Sometimes when I’m in (sore) pain, I will ask Kitty to punch me where it hurts, because somehow, it helps.
Sometimes we will cuddle one long car rides, in bed, or just while we are tired as fuck and don’t wanna move.
Kitty and I have been mistaken for being together before. Honestly that happens with a lot of my IRL friends because I hug them and be affectionate with them.
It does piss me off when it happens though, because the second I am touchy with my friends, people think we are dating.
All this being said, we are just amazing friends. Like Deadpool and Wolverine could be. They could just be friends and still punch each other and argue, and cuddle, and be queer, and still be friends.
They don’t have to be together to act like a couple. They can be in domestic bliss and live together without kissing or fucking each other.
They can be, just friends, and maybe that wouldn’t be so bad.

Roy and Jamie's relationship is one of my favourite parts of TL, but the period between 2x10-3x04 when they're not antagonistic anymore but also not really friends, and their interactions mostly consist of Roy threatening to kill Jamie and slapping food out of his hands, is near the top of my list of writing decisions I did not like.
It's not that I think the two of them should have immediately started getting along post-Wembley or that I think Jamie necessarily should have found those moments triggering — it would have been a perfectly legitimate choice if the writers had gone that route, but given that James seems to be able to put on a friendly(ish) front based on what we know from the Amsterdam story, I could see how Jamie might find how upfront Roy is about his anger reassuring — but because it does a disservice to Roy as a character.
You have this man who's so painfully aware of his flaws, who cares so deeply about the people he loves but is afraid he'll drag them down and infect them with the worst parts of himself, who steps up to take care of his former rival — someone who embodies everything he once was and never will be again — when he's vulnerable and terrified after being abused by his father in front of the whole team. And then a couple of episodes later he threatens to knock Jamie's teeth down his throat.
Fundamentally, I think it's a matter of blending comedy with serious storylines, which TL generally does well, especially in the first two seasons. But I don't think a serious storyline and its comedy counterpart can effectively coexist in the same show. You can't show a character being threatened and assaulted by his father and then turn around and have another character do the same but it's a joke, this time, without undermining one of those storylines. It's the same with Beard and Jane: one of the main character arcs is Rebecca's difficult, painful healing process after the end of her abusive marriage, but at the same time there's a running gag about a couple that's written like they were playing bingo with the Wikipedia page for domestic abuse.
