I can’t see any reason for my meditation to be as short as 22 minutes last night. My body didn’t exactly need life energy’s corrective presence. Also, I hadn’t napped all day.

I was tired enough in body and mind for my attention to take advantage of it but my attention didn’t take advantage of my fatigue. Through roughly 2013 to 2020, my attention self trained to take advantage of my subconscious mind to find new depths.

Oh! how I regretted napping before my meditation sessions back then. With a nap, my mind would stick to its momentum of weaving dreams even after I had begun meditation. Post nap dream imagery in meditation would be too strong for my attention to fight. And I have lost many meditation battles in these years.

Eventually, I had managed to train my attention to trash every image that passed before it. Long before getting involved with any thought image, the images would be ‘marked as read’. It is the one mental skill that has helped me stock up on inner peace between end of 2022 and June of 2023.

These are the months when I had life energy trickling inside my head as inner peace but I did not have the blessing of a withdrawn sense of hearing. Withdrawn hearing came in June of 2023. Ever since then I have had the blessing of what Swami Sri Yukteswar describes as ‘peculiar “knocking” sounds’ in his book The Holy Science.

Last night, despite a shortish meditation, I was granted a small share of ‘peculiar “knocking” sounds’. There was depth but my attention didn’t seem to have any stamina. That’s ok.

16.5.2025: Today I read the second, shorter article for the learning diary and it was so much clearer! I have over a page of notes on it now, I can totally write two pages on this. So I basically just wasted a whole day yesterday reading a thing I won't even use.

This morning I watched a panel on academic careers, and it was pretty interesting. It was also really validating, bc most of them said that they'd just sort of ended up becoming professors as a result of taking whatever career opportunities felt interesting in the moment. And like all of my big life decisions were made fully based on vibes and I don't really have plans for my career, so it feels nice to know that that's how it's supposed to be.

I got the job in the fast fashion store as an extra/when needed. It's likely not gonna be much but i'ts (punchline incoming) honest work.

Also the adult college is working to get my dark academia book club to show on their site and course catalog.

I'm just so confused?? I got a job?? Me?? When in my last city I applied for 150+ places and didn't even get an interview? Then i ofc was in the cafe during summer as an unpaid trainee but this one !! i don't need to do dishes!! and there's AC!! And i get paid?

Anyways i gotta go read now. All of this chaos and i gotta still read. All of this hustling would've been avoided if I had got the scholarship but I did not bc the economy is in shambles and the uni is like yeah you're worth 90k to us if you graduate but good luck getting an office even.

🔥 not productivity related but the building across the street caught on fire. We called 999 but the first responders were already there. The stress wreaked havoc on my nervous system and I fell asleep for a really long time!!!! Now it’s almost midnight and idk what to do with myself lol I guess I’ll get ready for bed properly?
