Hate's Outta Date, 2022
Blue Version
Artist: Harland Miller
'I have made two separate versions of this edition – not because it’s worth saying twice – although it is, but more evidently to do with the colours of two paintings I made on the same subject: one blue, one yellow.
I made them some years ago now, experimenting with how colour changes the way in which you read a text: pink for instance suggests levity, same subject in green has more gravity. These of course are primal responses to colour, but hopefully the colours in these editions will combine to create their own context – be it obvious, in which or under which, y’know like a flag, you’ll read the painting in the intended way… And while flags suggest collectivity, the text will have personal associations… of course. And without contradicting myself I hope we can come together here as individuals to say, ‘OK, looks like hate may not be out of date, But this, this is how we feel about it.'

It is a rare plate of the German Renaissance. It is rather a basin, much rarer than an offering basket. Plate representing the original sin with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, Germany, 16th century.

“This radiant Art Deco era necklace is composed of 107 hand-carved and polished natural and untreated Burmese jadeite jade beads.
Overall, the beads are a bright, fresh spring green. I would say ‘pea green’ but that sounds so awful. In truth, the beads are the color of those hard and shiny peas that you see when you crack open the first pod of the season. But these beads are also genetically gifted: they contain little patches of shockingly perfect imperial green, deep forest green, and even a green so faint it reminds me of light green velvet rubbed the wrong way so that light reflects off where you stroked your finger over the velvet and the green velvet is now whiter.”
