Well, I solo this guy a lot. Mostly because I have about 8 pre-bc blacksmithing patterns left to acquire, among them the full runic bullcrap set.

Taelan Fordring is kind of a badass. I say kind of because, knowing his nature gives a prot pally the information he needs to KILL Taelan Fordring consistently. I could see warriors and whatever having a lot of trouble with this guy because he's no push over.

That being said I am a post Kara partially SSC/TK geared prot paladin with a chip on my shoulder and a hankering to smith in a black sort of way. This means I have to kill Taelan Fordring a lot because unless I want to bring my homies out here for the pitiful drop rate and sad respawn timer, I am on my own.

So here's the secret to the Highlord of the Scarlet Fraternity.

He heals people. THIS SUCK!one

He uses LAY ON HANDS ZOMGSAURUS REX!

He... wastes both on other people. Also of note for you people who aren't privileged with a circle of PAIN like us prot pallies... if you kite him off and make him use LoH and then reset him he won't use it again.

TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!

He runs out of mana.

He doesn't bubble (but he's unstunable)

And he'll happily blow LoH on Bob the Unfortunate Cavalier, who just happens to be standing next to him, because BOB NEEDS IT MORE! WE LOVE YOU BOB!

Seriously though, Taelan prioritizes others over himself. I think it's an inherited family trait, seeing as such things are the cause of his father's exile. Which was the dumbest thing so many of those uppity whatfuxors could have done. But oh well.

So yes, to kill Taelan Fordring with the most consistent level of success, martyr him. Make him blow his payload on the noobs who chill with him, and he'll go down like... your mom on a tuesday?

We've never had a Version X.X.4 before, but I think your core list has the right idea for sure; if not 2.3.4, then 2.4 is the end of the Yusuke re-run and first potential update for a new Confidant like Runa, 3.0 is another likely chance for them to add a new 5-star, and we miiiiight get Aran as well?

I'm personally kind of expecting Kotone's Confidant with the next update (sort of like how we got Miyu's finally with 2.1.3, the last "gameplay" update), whether that's numbered 2.4 or not. And then at least a new 5-star (possibly Runa? maybe Lume, if that's not her?) in 3.0 (or again, however they choose to number it) and the end of the third Palace finally; maybe a new teammate as well, or maybe not? I can't tell if they're gearing up to have Aran join yet, or setting her up to be really relevant in the fourth arc. I think putting her in the fourth arc might be a better way to focus on her character, at least.

Honestly, I'm kind of curious to see if it goes 2.4 -> 3.0, or maybe just 2.4 -> 2.5, since the Palace isn't done. Obviously we haven't had an X.5 either, haha, but it'd kinda make sense to bump the main version number up for each Palace? I might be overthinking this though, honestly.

It'd be nice to get Toshiya's Confidant finally in either of those updates, haha. Or at least the next part of Chizuko's side story? Did they forget about her?

Within the patch code of the latest 2.3.3 update, there is seemingly data for the next two confidants that will be added;

Runa Dogenzaka.

Kotone Montagne.

With the existence of a 2.3.4 update as well, it seems that may be the opportunity for the palace story to conclude. Riko Tanemura's confidant is also expected to be added once the palace has fully concluded.

Still no update on Toshiya Sumi's confidant, which has been expected to drop for a while now.
