1. which race was the first one you played with?

charr! I was initially torn on what to play, until I saw the fem charr model and instantly fell in love. more than anything, I love the charr design — I think it's one of my favourite creature designs in anything ever.

9. your favourite npc?

rytlock! my cool, sarcastic, emotionally-stunted charr dad.

i don't really get all that attached to vidya game npcs, but i've always enjoyed his moments when they happen. every line that comes outta this guy's mouth is hilarious without even trying to be, and despite what some people say about it, i find his big tough guy act very cute. i especially liked his personal arc during IBS, the whole thing really cracked open his character and it was both heartbreaking and gratifying to watch him go through it.

15. an underrated part of the game you love

Chairs!

I really love this feature. It has no real use, besides a small buff. But I just love it.

I love that you can sit on chairs at several places. Or you can sit on your own (sometimes silly) chair. And not to forget the achievement in which you get your very first chair + funny title (Armchair Commander) Oh and I love that for some chairs, other players can join you. Like the tea table or noodle stand (Charr goes nom nom nom)

And I love emotes! In general silly little stuff the game has to offer, like you can collect frogs. Or Junk items. Or the Spoons!

Now not including her, I would probably have to say Canach is my favorite because of his super sarcastic manner. Kind of reminds me of myself.

Honorable mention is the sylvari aetherblade member that yells "PISS OFF, COMMANDER!"

30 day GW2 Challenge

Which race was the first one you played with? Believe it or not, it was Charr. I just wanted to play something that was beastly and as grotesque looking as I could make her (and I loved that GW2 didn't make them soft and dainty like most other cowardly MMOs out there that brings me to a bloodthirsty rage). I completely forgot at the time that she actually had the same name as my OC (Mourynn)... I guess the name actually stuck with me since the beginning and that's kind of hilarious (once again a Necro in game, but I did delete her (Charr) and remade her into a Sylvari later on (the one I still have now! I did it instantaneously to reuse her name). Funny enough, I even wound up dressing my weird cat in Mordrem fashion before I even knew what the Mordrem were (it was my first outfit that I chose from one of those choice things, and again I was trying to make her into a gross monsterly mess, and it's also funny bc I apparently sort of followed my OCs colouring scheme). The 2nd race I played was actually Human, and I actually still do have her! (my only non-Sylvari lol) She's just my loot bag hoarder now (since she has the most bag space), so I send her all my goodie bags to open all at once when it reaches near capacity. I get all the fun seretonin from opening it all at once and seeing it all add up via the GW2 In-Session app. OH YEAH I EVEN FOUND BABY PICTURES!!! (I somehow retained old screencaps from 2019 of my weird cat. I thought I lost them between computers, but this must've happened after that lol). SHE'S ONLY 14 LEVELS OLD. A KITTEN!!!!!!

This was also the first instance I learned about there being actual lesbians in the game (that meant a lot to me, you have no idea how long I stared at this and proceeded with googling up more info), and between this part that got me lowkey obsessed with Caithe (upon learning about the Faolain thing, and then going deeper into the rabbit hole about Sylvari culture), as well as my unintentional Mordrem-ifying(?) of my weird cat, I was doomed to become a Sylvari lover in the end xD (also I used to main a Druid on WoW too in the ye olde ancient past, so I mean... it all checks out once you add it up lmao). My old Charr also looked hilarious when put up right beside Kasmeer and I thought it was ridiculous and had to add it here. So edgy, wow (meow?)

Taidha Covington and her door that's stupidly hard to kill, even if she herself if fairly easy to kill <3

an enemy you find really annoying

Pocket raptors. There's a really funny meme that raptors and gravelings are one and the same to me, which is mostly true, but I hate pocket raptors just a little bit more <3

favourite elite spec

Firebrand girlie, always and forever. Nothing can replace firebrand in my heart, even with all my love for dragonhunter and weaver.

do you have a favourite place to afk/chill out?

Divinity's Reach! That's been my home base for years. A lot of my kids, when idle, are parked there unless I'm doing content with them :)

favourite expansion

Path of Fire. Hands down, Path of Fire. It's THE human expac. Here's a photo of me and my guildies back when they helped me get my beetle for the visuals (technically s4 map and mount, but it's tied to PoF. don't @ me.)

your favourite npc

Rytlock Brimstone! He's a blorbo, a meow meow, my sweet cheese. I have such a special place in my heart for Rytlock and I love his character arc. He's also a huge bastard, so it's no wonder I like him so much.

the norn! before guild wars 2 came out, when i was a lot younger, I would always watch my brother play the first game, particularly Eye of the North. While watching, i fell in love with them, and i created my own norn character, amber. when the game came out, i recreated her in game, which was my first character i had ever played. (i still have her on my own account lol)

i definitely cannot pick a favorite, but vedrix's fashion has always been one i'm proud of. i feel it really conveys the bounty hunter aesthetic i wanted for him, and just looks really cool in general.

Feels weird to leave that content out, it's still a MMO after all. But,... it's complicated. I would love to play these more,... but personal shit, past experience and oh hey, hello anxiety *sigh* I'm working on it to change,... so one day I'm sure, I find the courage to jump in a session. (Looking at you SotO Strike,... I still want this emote,... so I gonna get you... eventually! Hopefully.)

8. Favourite expansion?

Surprising to absolutely no one who knows me, it's Heart of Thorns!!! (HoT). As a Sylvari player this seems to be kind of a commonplace (bc of the extra Sylvari flavour that comes with it), but also I just really like the Mordrem and the HoT metas, and it's the beginning of the Aurene journey AND it was sort of "started" by Scarlet Briar (whomst I love and adore), so there's just lots of neat things! I also love the Mordy Meta fight bc it's cool to be able to see a lot of his details, even if his dialogue is a bit silly (tho it is unfortunate that Zhaitan didn't get the same treatment). I know the maps are a bit hard to navigate (TD especially), but after having a little bit of a routine doing metas and all that, I've gotten used to it lol. I wasn't crazy about PoF bc I just don't really care about Balthazar and even more Human lore (also I hate the Forged with a burning passion, and wild Djinn and JACARANDA are also my bane). EoD was still the nicest Human lore expansion imo. I think EoD and SoTo will be tied for second place for these reasons only: Soo-Won/Aurene/Elder Dragon content/pretty scenery and Peitha lol (also the QoL updates too). Story-wise I love HoT and it is my favourite, even despite all my grievances of all the things that weren't included or removed due to restricted time reasons and whatnot. I do feel that it's a really good idea for RP immersion reasons that there are a lot of things that are unique to different races like what they did with HoT, and I wish they did that more with the other expacs/LWs (except for humans now bc THEY HAVE ENOUGH!!! I am still salty for IBS not being Norn and Asura focussed. It should've been I was looking forward to that wtf!! makes no sense!!!! ljflsf). Below is just me being sad and salty about things not included in HoT that I'm forever mourning:

Although i"m going to be FOREVER salty about the vast amount of Sylvari lore that wasn't included/removed for time reasons and everything else (I'm still sad). Malyck never came to help us, Diarmid's portion was cut (leaving a confusing plot hole during the progression), NO NIGHTMARE COURT PORTION (I'm so salty about this!!!!!!!!! literally a super big thing that wasn't included, leaving another huge plothole with nothing extra with Duchess Chrysanthea, making it confusing to see her there. Literally they should've just replaced one of the other lanes as the Nightmare Court lane cuz HoT is kind of a big deal for Sylvari lore!!!), also another thing I am a bit salty about is like... there's no apologizing from ANYONE about the mistreatment and racist discriminatory treatments towards the Sylvari AFTER it all had been concluded??? like, instead we got the Sylvari still APOLOGIZING for it all, despite it being even harder for THEM, even if they themselves (as the individuals) didn't do anything, and like, I don't remember seeing any NPCs apologizing for acting that way towards them. Also outside of HoT, Sylvari have had little to no development or presence outside of this either. I know they're the youngest race with basically no history, but it's still sad. Human and Charr have lots of settlements and history everywhere, Asura get to at least have the presence of Asura tech everywhere as well as settlements like Rata Novus, but Norn don't really have much of anything ither, and I feel like they should. I think at this point in the expansion progress we're just sitting on the sidelines... again :/ Also there's like.. the absolute silence after the Pale Tree was badly injured. Like, we get little tidbits here and there WAY afterwards, but really no direct action taken to help her. Let us do something to help!! even if its' just Sylvari side!! Like, it feels like they just stopped using her as a character after this and it makes me so sad. All the other races have their active "Leaders" but we still don't. Just feels like we were thrown under the rug :( heck we don't even really get to TALK to her afterwards! I want mom to be okay!!!! Also like.. no more Nightmare court development or story afterwards either. We get little tidbits of a couple in Wizard land, but other than that it's just radio silence.

which race was the first one you played with?

Humans! Started as a human main, still am a human main. Guild wars really set me on the path to maining humans elsewhere - I am a devoted human stan, always and forever.

show us your favourite fashion look you’ve created

I've done many looks, much fashion, but Nyra's dragonhunter set and El's weaver set have such a special place in my heart. They're old, they're comfy, but above all else, they're so fashion to me. I love their whole blue and red aesthetics too, and their very opposite fashion senses.

which core Tyria map is your favourite?

I love the Orr maps of the base game in general, but Malchor's Leap (pictured in the screen) and the Cursed Shore stand out to me the most - I love the Orrian cathedrals and the whole aesthetic of an ancient, holy ruin.

8. favourite expansion

heart of thorns, easily.

for one, mordremoth is my absolute favorite elder dragon, both in themes and visuals. i'm not really all that interested in sylvari, but the whole mordrem conundrum was SO tasty. i'd also argue it's the expansion with the most engaging map design to this day.

(yes, including tangled depths. especially tangled depths.)

and finally, as someone who's been playing since the core days, this release was a truly transformative moment for the game. it broke the ground for everything GW2 has become today, and whether you think that's good or bad, you cannot deny the impact it's had.

3. which core Tyria map is your favourite?

gotta be diessa plateau!

i love all of ascalon, but this map has always felt like the heart of the region. i love the juxtaposition of all the charr settlements and sprawling farms amongst the haunted forests and crumbling old ruins, it really speaks to the sad history of the area. getting to see the civilian side of charr society is always a nice change of pace from the hyper-militant black citadel, too.

and of course i have to mention the strawberry patch, aka the best little hidden grotto in the entire game. i remember being so excited when i found my way in there for the first time. it was that moment it really hit me just how detailed and unique GW2's map design was.
