7.5.24: 30DWB Issue 2: Physical Planet
I always love to add weather to my scenes to create either a conflict or show how a character could be feeling at any given moment. This was something that I did and didn't really think about.
So, it was fun to think of how this would relate to Fantasy Worlds Collide as a whole.
Your exercise for today is to jot down ten plot devices that relate to weather, and what you think they do to the story (for example: a snow-in can turn the mood very claustrophobic… or very intimate).
Fog can conceal a crime until the perp gets away.
A snow-in can represent claustrophobia and suffocating.
A snow-in can move a romantic situation on further
Rain can create flooding which can separate groups of people
A warm breeze can foreshadow renewal, such as was used by the Great Gatsby where Gatsby will restart his love affair with Daisy.
Weather can provide information about characters. For example, using icily uses weather for displeasure.
A snow-storm can cause someone to drive off the road and become trapped in a car where they have to use their wits for survival.
High winds can knock trees over, preventing someone from escaping a person who is pursuing them.
A hurricane can trap two would-be lovers in a building and force them to get to know each other.
A snow storm can force heroes to turn back and alter their course of action, forcing them to come across stronger opponents.

.5.24: 30DWB Issue 5: The Map
As I returned to my maps a few weeks ago, I realized how much more detailed the Abyssal Realm's map is to the Celestial Realm. I will be reworking the Celestial Realm, which means that several places may change.
So, today's exercise is to draw out the physical contours of your map, and then identify at least three places that your people might live. You don't need names for them yet-- we'll worry about names next week, when we give our people language. Just draw a dot on the map or maybe sketch a little "house" symbol to indicate that people have settled that area.
The Celestial Realm

7.5.24: 30DWB Issue 4: Cataclysms
I took a slight break from uploading these posts today and decided to take a nap. While the exercise said to take fifteen minutes to come up with some cataclysms for world-building, I took longer than that.
I have two to three worlds that I am trying to build side to side. When I first started this, I decided to do the celestial realm first as that was the most important part of the story: understanding how Bianca's celestial heritage affected her. However, as I started to world-build, I knew I had to do the infernal and celestial plane side by side. My alternate Earth could wait for later. For this exercise, I decided to the two realms: the Abyssal and the Celestial Realm, as well as the Pathway to Reality.
I ended up changing the Abyssal Plane when I created the infernal map.
For 15 minutes, jot down some of the Really Big Land Features you want in your story and just think "what if that were made by…." Write down a couple of causes for those features and scars, and stick it all into your notebook. Which scars are slow-force scars (like plate tectonics), and which are fast-forces (anything that takes less than 10,000 years is medium-to-fast in geological scales).
Abyssal Plane
Dune: (fast moving) High winds sculpted these hills of sands. It is said that monsters lurk within the dunes.
Great Plains: (slow-force) These are highlands that run east to west. These were created by Lucifer to sustain the fallen angels as they turned away from heaven and made the Abyssal Planes their home. These grains are only consumed by the lower demons.
Mesa: (slow-moving) Lucifer and his 7 commanders joined together to form giant Mesas in each section (ring) of Hell. Their fortesses are set upon the Mesas in their kingdoms.
Mountains: (slow-moving) Jagged mountains are seen throughout the Abyssal Plane. Watchtowers are placed upon the peaks.
Leviathan with Belial created these mountains to protect the fallen angels from God and their brothers and sisters wrath.
Celestial Realm
Canyon: (fast-moving) made by a giant dragon (Azrakiel) during the ‘Celestial Rebellion’. This canyon separates the southern part of the Celestial Realm from the North.
Caves: (fast-moving) Dangerous Temporal beasts burrowed into the earth, raising the crusts of the Celestial Realm to form caves around them. The angels and God banded together to cast a giant sleep spell to cause these creatures to become in a suspended status beneath the planet’s crust.
Cliffs: (fast-moving) The cliffs were created by the thunderstorms constantly raging across the planes. The waves often hit the bottom of the rocky cliffs, eroding the landscape over centuries. This is where the celestials built their prison to keep any temporal prisoners. Most of the multiverse’s most dangerous entities are kept here.
Glaciers: (slow-moving) Unstable temporial winters have created the glaciers. These ice storms rage over the northern portions of the Celestial Realm.
Plateau: - (Slow-moving) Magma was pushed up from the inside of the crust but didn’t break through the surface. Deep hills surround it. the Celestial city spreads out along the Plateau and land underneath it. This Palace that God and his chosen council live in is on top of the Plateau.
Pathway of Reality
Near Perfect Vacuum: (slow-moving) The pathway of Reality is a near perfect vacuum that exists outside of time and space.
Rocky stairway: (slow-moving) carved out by the Christian God on the 1st day of Creation. It took almost 3 million years to create. Solar wind keeps carving the stars leading to the pathway’s platform (ethereal nexus) and further areas beyond.
Cosmic Tapestry: (slow-moving) No friction allows the nebula, stars, and planets to reside in the darkened sky, allowing them to move freely along their ideal orbits, following the initial transformation.

7.5.24: 30DWB Issue 3: Mood & Setting
This is a short article today. I'm currently waiting for the plumber to get here, as I am at my mother in law's house visiting. My brother in law's truck won't start, so she went to give him a jump with her car. I agreed to stay here to wait for the plumber, as she might need a new hot water tank.
I was asked to create a new document in Scrivener. I was to jot down four words (2 adjectives, a verb, and a noun) that fit the emotion that I wanted to evoke.
After that, I was asked to return to the list of climates that I created in the first issue of this series: Climate & Variety. Based upon the words I listed for this exercise, I was to see if any of them match the list.
The words I came up for Fantasy Worlds Collide were:
dark, gloomy, suffocate, and unhealthy love.
This matched my vacuum of space climate. Whether this will change later or not, it'll depend on the world-building that I will work on later in the month.

7.5.24: 30DWB Issue 1: Climate and Variety
While I may use the snowflake or leviathan method for my manuscripts, I prefer to use the 30 days of world-building questionnaire to quickly build a world that I work on.
Fantasy Worlds Collide is no different. FWC blends both fanon and original content together into a vivid, breathable world and focus on a grander scope: the threat of the Multiverse / Omniverse.
Exercise: Then, go through that list and write one or two words that describe how that climate, either the word itself or the way the place itself may have made you feel, if you've been there before. Try to stick to abstract adjectives; emotional words, if you can, but nouns are also okay.
Different seasons depending where someone is on the Celestial Realm. Not much variety.
Never-ending - Winter : Desolate. Depressive. Cold. Sad. Melancoly. Irritable. Anger. Death. Discomfort. Pain. Aches. Exhaustion. Adversities.
Never-ending Summer: Happiness. Optimism. Joy. Warmth. Brightness. Energy,.
Never-ending Spring: Flirty. Cheerful. Romance. Joyful. Hope. Renewal. Adventure. Hope. Freshness
Never-ending Fall: Dread. Discomfort. Depression. Sadness. Gloom.
No weather: Oppressive. Anxiety.
Part II
Autumn - temperate weather, shorter days and longer nights Temperate climate: warm and humid summers. Thunderstorms and mild winter
Tropical hot and humid. Temps greater than 64 F year round. More than 59 precipitation each year
Dry: moisture is evaporating quickly. Little to no participation. Cold Nights.
Continental: warm to cool summers. Very cold winters. Snow storms, strong winds, very cold temperatures
Polar: extremely cold. The temperatures never go highter than 50 F. Seattle: Rainy. Unhappiness. Rebirth. Determination. Introspection. El Nino: Wetter than usual. Warmer and drier conditions.
La Nina: Winter temperatures are warmer than normal (South). Colder than Normal (North)
LA: Smog. Gloomy.
Space climate: radio blackouts, solar radiation storms, and geomagnetic storms that will cause disturbances.
A vacuum in space - Nothingness. Vacuum. Depression. Oppression.
