I had a thought: what are the pros and cons of this hobby, specifically painting minis? We should always consider such things when diving into something or even after we have been in a hobby for a bit.
Pros:
It is fun! It is a chance to use your imagination and bring something to life
It can be relaxing! Mind empty, no thoughts. Just paint.
You can make some friends! The hobby is pretty welcoming, and us nerds are everywhere... game shops, tournaments, group chats, etc.
It is a good skill set. Maybe not painting itself, but blocking out sections and problem-solving.
Cons:
We cannot ignore the use of plastic and resin on the environment. Luckily, the amounts we use are pretty small, so it is not a terrible impact compared to driving or burning fossil fuels.
Cost. Some paints can really add up, as well as the minis themselves. We have to make financial choices every day. Sometimes, we have to put off this hobby.
Trolls. I have definitely had people just destroy my work. This is a confidence destroyer. However, we have to remember how the mini makes us feel, because that is all that matters. There will always be trolls. If feedback isn't constructive, ignore it. They're jealous or gatekeeping because they don't want anyone better than them joining the hobby.

So I met this guy, well a friend recommended me to him, and he’s been amazing. He’s at my school and the first gift he gave me was a 3d printed heart and key. I LOVE GIFTS. Yes we did have a bit where we didn’t talk because he was overwhelmed with stuff, but now we’re talking again and I just love him sm. LIKE OMG! I love this nerdy guy. OH AND! He doesn’t care that I’m trans, he sees me as a man 💥

we used to have a silver otherkin star that we wore daily, but the top fixture snapped. rather than replace it, we figured the plural rings were a little more accurate for us now, anyway.
a friend ended up doing the model (albeit while we sat behind and gave feedback), we paid shapeways for the printing, for speed & just to save us the trouble of actually producing something to "daily wear" standards. would recommend.

Probably some sort of 3D printed topographical map.
Slime mold was grown on an agar gel plate shaped like America and food sources were placed where America’s large cities are.
The result? A possible look at how to best build public transportation.
I just really like the idea of slime mold on a map of the US. It’s beautiful.
