THE SHIRT IS DONE. LOOK AT HER. 🤩 (Except the sleeves which were hemmed right after this photo.)
I'm obsessed with the feathers. Glad I took the time to sew the ribbons on over top.
I think I'm gonna shorten the belt to about where my thumb is. I'm mad it covers the rivets. Need to add a loop too.
Up next: Yennefer's corset. I have been putting this off bc sewing leather scares me (and it's expensive). And those curves in the corset are gonna be a nightmare. And I have to do some pretty significant pattern updates bc I'm so short waisted. I have to be a good little sewist and make a full toile this time. Also, that leather trim ☠️. Pray to the old gods and new for my sewing machine.

Yennefer belt finished*!! Bottom pic is where I started today - still stitching up the decorative edges and adding the rest of the rivets.
*Seasoned leather crafters pls avert your eyes. Still gotta touch up some dye on the belt holes and some of the carnage created trynna get those decorative rivets in place. Also need to fashion a loop to hold the excess belt
But pretty pumped at this as a first leather project!
I'd say I learned a lot:
The length of rivet teeth really fucking matter. And when they are too short it's almost impossible to get them to stick in the leather.
Symmetry is important, especially at the end of the belt, eyeballing the curve is not enough
I was too gentle with the fork and mallet to make all the holes, had to go through and awl them anyway. Ouch my bones.
Having a hard surface, not just cardboard under the leather is important
My hand strength is straight dogshit
Leather sealer gets rid of some dyeing sins but not all.

As much as I photography in general, I cannot believe this is the only good pic I got this weekend of this outfit ft. Discarded T-shirt.
Pretty pumped with how the whole look turned out. Planning on remaking the feather capelet - didn't love how flat it turned out.
