Evaluation

This module was a challenge to face, as I don’t play much games and I had to make a game myself. We got assigned for this in September and it was given very clearly. We got stuck in straight away, me and some friends went to the library to find an artist. However I found my artist oline, Tom Moore. He stuck out to me because his work is very unique and he had a good meaning to his work, which “nature conquering the industry”. This was very useful to make a game to do with his meaning.

I brainstormed some ideas through a spidergram and came up with a idea that makes the player walks through Moore’s work, going through glass jars that he usually makes for his work. So after we had many lesson of how to use Unreal and all its uses. These lesson were very useful and important part of this module to know to use Unreal in detail and how to make use of Maya along with it. So after these lessons, I started modelling the artists work in Maya, for example the jars and the plant/animal models. This took a week to do and then I started making the layout and changing to suit the artists perspective more. The idea of the artists desk came out late during the project, and it made the whole layout of the game perfect. I ran into a lot of problems during this process which were fixed when I researched more in depth of how to resolve the problem and with help of the lecturers.

The whole process of making this game was very fun and it was very challenging to do something I never done before. However I was able to get alot of guidance and support during the whole process that I’m grateful for. I am happy with how my game turned out and I feel when I added the sound, made the game set the perfect atmosphere.
