always feeling incredibly strongly about Donna and Laura at the Roadhouse in Fire Walk With Me. Donna couldn't convince her to be safe, so she forced Laura to vicariously care about herself through her. Anything that hurts you will hurt me, too. It's like a promise Donna makes to Laura, but also a dare. Will Laura really show Donna her darkest places, will Donna actually go into danger to discover what Laura is going through. It's just. I would say that Donna puts trust in Laura, but it's not really that. By the time they get out of the truck, Donna is already afraid, already further in than she's okay with. But she keeps following Laura. By the end she's resisting Laura's help the way Laura resisted hers. It's like. aaaagagh. it's like she's valuing Laura more than her own limits, more than her own innocence or safety. She'd rather go to dark places that will change her than let Laura go into those places alone. And then Laura shows Donna the love she was refusing to give herself.
