imagine jumping into the ocean to save a stranger and developing a strong bond with said stranger while helping him realize the goodness within his tortured self only to be repaid by being betrayed and paralyzed from the waist down so you relinquish your telepathic powers in order to walk but then some hairy dude with claws claiming to be from the future tells you that you have to break the stranger out of the pentagon as he allegedly murdered the president during his year of being a mutant terrorist because it's essential for the future and as much as you despise this no-longer-a-stranger you have been undeniably in love with him and by the end of everything you're at a cafe in paris with him playing your favorite shared pastime and being proposed to

I don't know if Erik had a ring in his other hand in Paris, but if he had one, Charles didn't pick it because he wanted to go slow. He wanted to date Erik because they never did that. They always made out way too fast. They never went to a nice restaurant. They never gifted each other flowers on random days. Charles didn't want to do this again. He wanted the slow back and forth, the waiting for the moves of the other one. He wanted to play this game of chess, and Erik gave him the chance to decide. He gave Charles all the control because he was just happy to be given another chance with the love of his life.

The Proposal 💍

The sky over Paris had just started to soften into dusky lavender when Emily stepped into the candlelight glow of the restaurant's terrace, her black dress hugging her silhouette perfectly with a shawl to match.

Y/N stood waiting in a perfectly tailored midnight-blue suit, open collar just enough to be casual, but polished with her signature edge. She didn't take her eyes off Emily until she reached the table.

Y/N pulled Emily's chair out, brushed a kiss to her knuckles and sat opposite with a look that said she still couldn't believe her luck.

The place was exquisite, crystal chandeliers, gold accents, a view of the Eiffel Tower from the windows, and the sound of clinking glasses blending with the soft jazz coming from the small quartet.

In the middle of them sat an unattended glossy black baby grand piano. They shared champagne and soft laughter through dinner, filet mignon for Emily, duck à l’orange for Y/N.

Dessert was nearly finished when Y/N stood up suddenly, “Where are you going?” Emily asked, brows lifted in amused suspicion. Y/N just smirked, “Trust me, sweetheart.”

They walked across the restaurant to the piano, catching the attention of the musicians as she gently gestured toward the keys. After a quiet exchange in French, they nodded and adjusted their tempo.

Y/N unbuttoned her jacket and sat at the piano, rolling her sleeves just a touch as she placed her fingers on the keys. The first few bars of “La Vie en Rose” drifted out from beneath her hands.

Soft, elegant, perfectly paced. Emily froze, eyes wide, hand gently fluttering to her lips. Then Y/N sang. In flawless French, her rich, low voice rolled through the restaurant like velvet.

" Quand il me prend dans ses bras Il me parle tout bas Je vois la vie en rose… "

Emily’s heart clenched.

" Il me dit des mots d’amour Des mots de tous les jours Et ça me fait quelque chose… "

The band joined in one by one, violin, upright bass, saxophone, like the city itself had conspired with Y/N. Every guest turned toward her, but Y/N only had eyes for love.

When the final note echoed out, the restaurant burst into gentle applause, but Emily didn’t clap. She stood, breathless, teary, and walked straight to Y/N, grabbing her cheeks with both hands to kiss her.

“You are unbelievable,” she whispered against her lips. Y/N gave her a secretive grin. “You haven’t seen anything yet.” They laced their fingers together and led her upstairs, past waitstaff who opened the doors with knowing smiles.

The rooftop was magic.

Hundreds of tiny candles flickered in hurricane jars arranged in winding paths across the stone floor. A scattering of petals curved around a table with two glasses of champagne already waiting.

In the far corner, the Eiffel Tower glittered just above the city skyline. Y/N turned to face Emily, hands slightly trembling now.

“I set this up… weeks ago,” they admitted softly. “I knew I wanted to do it here. In the city of lights, in the city of love. Because you... you make everything brighter. Everything warmer. You make me feel like I’m seeing life in color for the first time.”

Emily’s eyes brimmed with tears. Y/N dropped to one knee and opened the velvet box. “Emily Prentiss... will you marry me?” Emily let out a breathless laugh, crying now, nodding frantically.

“Yes,” she whispered, then louder. “Yes, yes, yes.”

Y/N slid the ring onto her finger, stood, and Emily kissed her so hard they nearly knocked over the closest candle. Paris glowed beneath them, and above them, and all around them.

The brightest part of the city right in front of Y/N's eyes, Emily.

Day 17/26: "Question"

I probably already wrote something about this but I will never stop talking about how badly written X-men Dark Phoenix is. If Dark Phoenix has zero haters, then I’m dead.

I absolutely despise how everyone in that movie villainizes him. Charles made a lot of mistakes, yes, especially when it comes to hiding what actually happened to Jean’s parents but it just seems so out of character from everyone to suddenly turn on him?

They blame him for Jean’s problems, for her not understanding herself, and it’s like no one takes a second to acknowledge that maybe Charles is just a guy trying to do his best. The worst part is, he’s always the one who’s giving—guiding, supporting, and protecting—but no one ever really checks on him. The people who should understand him the most (his students, his closest friends) seem to disregard him completely in this film. And it’s not like he’s some invincible figure who doesn’t need help; he’s clearly struggling, but no one seems to care. They just let him flounder, and that makes it feel like everyone’s turning their backs on the person who’s been there for them from the beginning. Charles was literally still mourning the death of his sister and Hank basically tells him how everyone should be afraid of him for the things he did.

In Dark Phoenix, Charles becomes a villain of sorts, but it feels like the movie’s creators didn’t know how to make this change feel earned. Instead of evolving his character in a believable way, they just throw him under the bus to make the stakes feel higher. The whole movie seems to forget the complexity of who Charles is and the positive impact he’s had on these characters. Rather than giving him a solid, well-deserved arc, the film turns him into someone who’s not only flawed, but also pretty unlikable. It’s a shame because, in the end, Charles is one of the most fascinating, multifaceted characters in the X-Men universe, and Dark Phoenix did him a major disservice by treating him so poorly.

And the worst part is, the movie doesn’t show anyone stepping up to help Charles. He’s not given the kind of emotional support that he has so often given to others. You’d think that after everything he’s done, someone would be there for him. But no. Instead, he’s left alone, isolated, and vulnerable, with no one offering him the same kind of empathy he’s given them for years. It feels like the movie forgets the essence of his character—the wise, compassionate leader—and replaces him with a broken, almost unrecognizable version of himself.

Anway, this movie is ass. Paris proposal was the only good thing about this movie. That, and Erik was slaying with that look of his
