people are so uncharitable sometimes and i simply don’t understand… someone in the music class teacher fb group i’m part of was like “this family keeps signing up for class but only showing up for a couple classes each semester, i’m so irritated that she’s taking up a spot if she’s gonna be so flaky about it” and it’s like first of all you already got her money so why are you complaining. and second of all you don’t know what’s going on in her life?? before i taught and i just took my daughter to class as a parent, i only made it to like half the classes per semester, bc my life was a fucking mess for quite a while after both my partners got postpartum psychosis which led to a messy divorce, but i always had such a good time when i did manage to attend. like okay maybe she just doesn’t care about your time (or her own money??). but maybe she’s signing up for class again bc she DOES appreciate it and she’s SAD that’s she had to miss so many!! even just regular parenting is hard… how can you work with families for your job and not be understanding of that…. smfh

I haven't seen anyone talk about this following the buyout, but the thing about Choices's new direction is that…

hmm Sony just bought a majority stake in Eleventh Hour Films, the producers of Alex Rider. wonder if that could mean anything about the potential for a s4.

Ah someone else who has discovered the joys of Camelot (1967) a movie that I am completely normal about. Have you watched it? Because the delivery of the lines is everything and if you need someone to talk to about it I am, once again, completely normal about it. The scene where Lancelot and Arthur first meet?? A masterpiece in sharing a single braincell. And don't even get me started on the way Guenevere first treats Lancelot "have you jousted with humility lately". It's unapologetically at the top of my Arthuriana movie rank list and has gotten me to reread The Once and Future King
I have not watched the film yet!
I've been listening to the original cast recording on Spotify but, most importantly, I've read the book of the original Broadway production (1960 libretto) and I love it?? It's a delightful little read on its own, even without having watched the musical. (I want other people to read it please it's very funny I promise)
I guess the 1967 film script won't be identical to the libretto but I assume it's fairly similar.
The scene where Lancelot meets Arthur was hilarious it made me laugh out loud. Lancelot utter puzzlement ("Gone a-Maying, Your Majesty??"). Arthur's sudden self-consciousness.
And don't even get me started on the way Guenevere first treats Lancelot "have you jousted with humility lately"
I know!! Lancelot's grating self-righteousness coupled with his complete lack of self-awareness is so funny.

And I loved the gradual tone shift. It starts out so silly and the tragedy sneaks up on you — I thought Guinevere and Lancelot's affair might be played for laughs with an oblivious Arthur but no, it turns out he's fully aware of what's going on and he's forced to watch it unfold because he's powerless to stop it? and he loves them both and doesn't want any harm to come to them even as they betray him??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(He continues talking, looking from one to the other, feverishly — painfully) — Excuse me??
and King Pellinore is hilarious, he enters the scene wearing a monocle followed by a little mongrel named Horrid and talking like a character from a P. G. Wodehouse's novel. Extremely validating because when I read that chapter in Le Morte d'Arthur in which King Pellinore first makes an appearance my first question was "is he meant to be this funny?" and the answer from this script is a resounding YES.
I think I might perhaps watch the 1968 stage production first, merely because it's available for free on Youtube (at least in the UK).
I might try hunting for a free streaming link to the 1967 film, though I don't mind renting it if I can't find it.

Scripting struggles
I'm changing my magical girl outfit and I have 5 I like and I cant pick one... they don't even match the magic I gave myself anyways idk why I'm like this...
Anyways I'm just taking them all 🤷🏾‍♀️ when I wear them in my DR I'll decide which ones I want to keep.
On that note I need to pick a wand/weapon too. The struggle starts again.

From a storytelling standpoint, I think the animated Tarzan movie is technically perfect.
One of my favorite things they do seamlessly is set up Tarzan’s ability to mimic sounds (which is how he can reasonably communicate with the animals, which in turn sets up how quickly he’s able to pick up on human speech and understanding/communication), in addition to showing us he can imitate the sound of a gunshot.
At the beginning Jane sort of offhandedly says he associates the actual sound of a gunshot with the word ‘Clayton,’ but we can see how he comes to recognize that Clayton is the one responsible for that sound, and he comes to understand that that sound means danger, justly equating Clayton with said danger. It means the audience gets the environmental storytelling of hearing the gunshot -> knowing Clayton is responsible -> knowing something is wrong, simply by the sound. We as the audience know guns are dangerous, but because Tarzan is the audience’s proxy for understanding in the story, it’s almost new for us to feel the weight in the pit of our stomach realizing when Tarzan does at the end that something is very, very wrong when it’s heard far off into the jungle. Environmental storytelling is often more effective at evoking those feelings and giving exposition; it’s the epitome of “show, don’t tell.”
It comes to a head during the climax when he has the gun pointed at Clayton, who taunts him with “Go ahead. Be a man.” And Clayton laughs because he doesn’t think Tarzan could pull the trigger.
And then we hear the sound of a gunshot.
It’s Tarzan mimicking the sound (and metaphorically, showing how he could mimic the action). It tells Clayton (and the audience) that Tarzan very well could have pulled the trigger if he chose to. Tarzan is not incapable of killing— He killed Sabor in the beginning, and gorillas aren’t the only sentient creatures in the jungle.
Immediately after he intimidates Clayton, he destroys the gun and declares “Not a man like you.” The biggest overarching theme of the movie is the question “What does it mean to be a man?” It’s not just the idea of man in the masculine sense, but it’s the question what does it mean to be human?
It’s the fact Tarzan didn’t kill Clayton that shows us he IS human, capable of restraint, compassion, and mercy; it’s that which makes him different than a mindless animal AND different than the man who kills without regard to the life he’s taking.

So, recently i got back to one of the first fandoms i technically joined - Bendy and the ink machine. A thing i'd like share about me is that i'm a sucker for crossovers. So, i recently made an crossover au with the main fandoms being BATIM and SMG4. May i present you :
A Script At Stake
Tumblr media
The base idea is that Mr. Puzzles is trying to take over a world full of cartoon characters, from every generation of animation, from every genre, every target demographic and from around the world. And the brave heros who are going to stop him are Henry and Bendy from BATIM and the SMG4 crew, but SMG4!Mario and SMG4!Luigi are aren't here and the ones to fill their absence are Mario and Luigi from the DIC cartoons. Other supporting characters are the main cats of the GLITCH shows and a whole bunch of characters from animated TV shows and web series.
Think of 'Who framed Roger Rabbit', but it's a action-horror-comedy based crossover story with a simge of mafia.
So, yaeh, that's about it for now. Anyways, here's bonus designs for Bendy and Henry -
Tumblr media
Hope y'all enjoy!
