Hello I would like to hear about your OCs’ magic system

HELLO DO YOU KNOW I WOULD DIE FOR YOU.

most of my ocs are in the world of the Changelings, and the way the magic there works is...

there are six Elements (storm, fire, light, shadow, water, earth). BUT. that wasn't always the case! hundreds of years ago, there were dozens of dragons in the world, each with a distinct, innate magical power. they started to die out, but they didn't want to leave the world without their magic. so collectively, they consolidated their power into the six elements (side note: this consolidation is why it's storm and not just air, and why earth contains both rock and wildlife stuff).

((an even-further-to-the-side note: the dragons used celestial bodies as indicators for how many Vessels (magic containers) to use: Light for the sun, Shadow for the darkness of space, Earth for the planet, Storm for the Scarred Moon (and the opposite of Earth), Water for the Cerulean Moon, and Fire for the Crimson Moon. yes this world has moons and constellations and everything.))

so now, magic is all Elemental! there are two types of elemental powers.

the first and less powerful of the two is slightly more common, and doesn't exactly have a name? i just call them element-originated powers. examples include:

being overlooked / hiding in plain sight

shapeshifting into any animal

needing only 1-2 hours of sleep rather than 7-8

the second and much more powerful type is what the Changelings have, and this type doesn't have a name at all - it's just what the changelings do. and they're called that because not only do they have incredible control over a specific element, they can also turn into a very fucking cool elemental dragon :D and the current Changelings are my six main characters!

now, i hear you asking, "but what makes these two types different?" great question. i love you. the answer is Connection.

the first type of power, people get by spending time around one or more of the Elements in their purest form (aka, in a Vessel). it happens because the Vessels contain so much pure magic that it tends to latch onto people (remember, it used to all belong to the dragons - it was never meant to exist all by itself).

the second type happens when the Elements choose six people to become the Changelings, and those people fully absorb the Element that chose them. here's the most important part: the ancient dragons put all their magic into the Elements, but they also put in their innate understanding of their power, which is inextricably woven into each Element. this understanding is called Connection! it's what makes the Changelings so powerful - their sense of their Element's energy and flow, and, in turn, the Element's acknowledgement of the Changeling as its partner and wielder.

and that, my friends, is the magic system!!

I know he smells like waffles and vanilla, but, like, really. his natural smell. and how would his breathing feel on my skin? his body temperature, would he be as warm as I think he would?

I just yearn for him so much. I can't help it. I wish he was real, or that I was fictional, or something. I wish we could be together in more than just my dreams 🥺

Hhihihiiii!! I'm so glad you like my "almost" au! :D ♡ Well, I've also drawn Kira as an axolotl mer for my friend who loves Kira (i just tell to her that i made him like that cuz at first i thought Killer Queen would be an axolotl, yk pink colour, and well then it was done lol), I just haven't posted it here because that's not the purpose, but I'll take advantage of the moment and show it + octopus diavolo too! (deformed, im bit bad at anatomy U_U):

I haven't thought about the other villains yet, to be honest, I only have a particular interest in Toru and Diavolo, and a little bit also Kira hehe. Anyway, if anyone has an idea, send it to me i would like to read them!
