So, a few days later, while he was rubbing the back of his neck and muttering about a busted mission, you asked, casually, “Hey… about the bentos. You okay with the way I’ve been decorating them?”

He froze mid-step, eyes narrowing just a little. “Why?”

“I mean, if you don’t like them, I can stop. I know they’re kind of silly.”

He scoffed. “They’re not silly.”

“…No?”

Bakugou looked away, jaw clenched like he was fighting a war inside his head. “They’re dumb,” he muttered. “But… in a good way.”

You blinked. “A good kind of dumb?”

He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “Shut up. You know what I mean. It’s like… they’re stupid cute, and they make my shitty day feel less shitty.”

You tried not to smile too wide, but he caught it anyway.

“Don’t look at me like that.”

“I’m not looking at you like anything.”

“Tch.”

And that was that.

From then on, it wasn’t just tradition. It was your favorite part of the day figuring out what silly little thing you could hide in his bento next. A rice bear. A carrot shaped like a grenade. A tiny sticky note that said, “Don’t blow anything up (unless you have to). Love you.”

And even though he never said much, you knew he liked it. Sometimes he’d leave the note on the fridge. Other times, you’d catch him smiling barely, just a twitch at the corner of his mouth while watching you fuss over the presentation.

Love was loud when he was fighting villains, screaming orders, protecting strangers.

But at home, it was quiet.

The great 19th-century designer William Morris wasn’t thinking of a £2 floral iPhone cover when he wrote “Tomorrow, the civilised world shall have a new art, a glorious art, made by the people and for the people.” In his lifetime he failed in his dream of making art for all, while paying his workers fairly. Only the homes of the wealthy were decorated by Morris & Co. As he feared, he had simply been “ministering to the swinish luxury of the rich”.

But today his designs can be found everywhere, from John Lewis to Chinese online marketplace Temu. His Strawberry Thief print is the most popular item in the V&A museum shop, and the internet is awash with AI-generated posters for fake William Morris V&A exhibitions. A new show, Morris Mania, at the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, explores how his botanical prints went viral, with a callout to the public to loan their own Morris ephemera.

Morris would be thrilled and appalled at this democratisation of his work. His legacy, like his life, is one of contradictions: he was a radical socialist and hugely successful businessman, who made wallpaper for Queen Victoria; a passionate champion of craftsmanship and workers’ rights, whose designs have become a template for mass-produced tat.

An early environmentalist, he raged against the waste and pollution of the industrial age. His 1890 utopian sci-fi novel News from Nowhere imagined a future in which there is no money, private ­property or big cities. In the end, he thought only upending the whole capitalist shebang would do. But Morris’s ideals survived into the next century, influencing political thinking about the arts. Labour’s Clement Attlee, Aneurin Bevan and Tony Blair were all fans. The ethos behind the Design Council, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this month, was not just to help rebuild the economy after the second world war but to improve people’s everyday lives. Shops like Habitat and designers such as Terence Conran took up Morris’s challenge to bring good design to the high street. In the return to “Victorian values” of the Conservative 1980s, Laura Ashley filled homes with Morris-inspired soft furnishings. Even British nuclear submarines were upholstered in his rose-print linen (Morris would not have approved).

Now we are having another Morris moment. Perhaps the joyful expression of nature in his patterns is the key to their enduring appeal. His motto, “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”, may have struck a chord in lockdown. Gen Z turned to crafting, and “cottagecore” took off. For many, our homes are also our offices; we want them to be “beautiful”.

Morris has always been design’s visionary and conscience. Today, we need him more than ever. As Morris mania proves, designers – however unwittingly – have played no small part in fuelling overconsumption. They have the power to shape our world and future. Eighty per cent of the environmental impact of any new product is determined at the design stage. Good design is no longer just about form and function. Designers are responding to the climate emergency with innovations that are aesthetic and sustainable.

As globalisation itself is under scrutiny thanks to US tariffs, Morris reminds us to think about where goods come from and how they were made. Do you really need that cheap Strawberry Thief-patterned toothbrush holder?

He always felt like a reactive dog when he thought about what he did, but it was better to be that and keep the worst away than a sad stray hoping it won't get kicked for existing.

Are they copy paste in regards to the general floorplan or did Gordon go out of his way to customize each? Also what style of furniture/decor (if there's any cohesive style at all) do each of the ai's have? Asking for fanart related reasons.

Gordon didn't do much to customize the houses before everyone moved in. He gave everybody roughly the same floor plan (adjusted for number of residents per house) with plenty of options to renovate and customize things to their liking. Each home started out with some pretty basic-looking furniture in roughly the same arrangement in each house, but everybody has a phone with a digital furniture catalog for customizing and replacing things. Gordon can help move heavy items with his godly desktop interface powers, but he can be kind of clumsy when interacting objects with three-dimensional space from an isometric view. It's better to enlist his help when he's "visiting".

As for style? Oh man that's a big question. I've written before that Darnold likes mod décor, but tries to keep style balanced with usefulness. Tommy has a taste for kitsch, decorating with collectables on the walls and conversation pieces, all with bright accent colors. His dad's not too sure what his own taste is, so he likes what Tommy likes.

For the Boomers, their old living space was made up of memories more than a solid decorating style-- standard issue dormitory furniture modified to death, the big ugly floral couch from Coomer's ex-sister-in-law, and whatever they could fit in their small on-site apartment. Though on-base housing is typically seen at large Nuclear Power Plants, Özlem had its own apartment-style housing for all of its employees. Özlem is located in the town of Gökhan, about 50km from Istanbul. The population of Gökhan has been declining since the Plant’s closure; Özlem had been the largest job provider within a 20km radius. Keeping engineers and technicians housed on base allowed individuals to perform efficiently; however, due to shift scheduling, those living inside the Özlem apartments rarely left the Plant’s campus.

The apartments were decorated in the same color scheme as the Plant (red and white - the colors of the Turkish flag). Because of Özlem’s smaller employee load the apartments were larger than typical on-base housing. Builders focused on kitchens as the central hub of each apartment, hence the large amount of kitchen images from the Archives.

The apartments’ futuristic style allowed for the implementation of Plant machines so that engineers could monitor their work from home.

Yuzuki Yukari Song Highlights 2023

Overall Favorite : Ryoko_14 - Chikaku Kashikoshi-ron. Zenpen (ft. Hatsune Miku, Yuzuki Yukari VOICEROID)

Great pacing with an extremely powerful and cathartic climax. Miku sets the stage, Yukari's measured and professionaly robotic speaking parts adds to the theraputic element. Probably my favorite song from last year, period.

Solo Yukari : Kashuu Ryousuke - Retro Kissa

Stilted rhythms, the producer's signature dry instruments and tuning, and probably one of the more approachable songs from them for newcomers.

Multisinger : sheeno mirin - OSINT (ft. Kaai Yuki, Yuzuki Yukari, Kasane Teto AI)

First of their songs to include Yukari singing a main line (the past few were just her on talkloid/backing duty)! Funnily enough her verse in this is probably my least favorite, but it's less of Yukari being bad and more Yuki and Teto verses being fire as hell.

Tuning : Zoofles - Death of a Sunrise

I don't listen to a lot of English Yukari, but maybe it's time I fix that. Great gradual transition from soft to powerful throughout the song, and Yukari feels at home with the song in both composition and mixing.
