If anyone is here from my AO3 I'm trying ya'll.

Status updates: When the Rest Walk Out- There's one maybe 2 chapters left and I just have to get my brain around how to get from where I am in my head to the ending. I know all the stops on the way just not the streets that connect them. Melodic Weave- I might post a short update in the next week but I'm torn. I have 3k words written but I'm not quite to a natural stopping point, and nothing has really happened in this chapter that feeds the plot so I would prefer to wait. I have a road map for probably 2-3 chapters including this mostly written one, it's just at a heavier place and I don't have the mental energy.

Verified Rumor- This is chapters ahead, I'm just trying to hold off really updating it until I finish When the Rest. It's currently the easiest thing I have to write. Don't expect regular updates on this but there could be one if I don't have something else ready soon.

Excuses: End of semester kicked my ass. Recitals snuck up on me, and I record/edit/upload them, that was like 8 hour days on top of my regular teaching job. We're two weeks into workterm, I already am in 4 [of 2 required] ensembles. I teach two evenings a week, I am co-leading 2 ensembles and leading a third (2 of these ensembles are 13 and 18 people bands), I have had 4 gigs, another on Sunday and one of my ensembles leaves for Cuba on Wednesday.

I've got two teachers basically gluing my mental health together while a third alternates between antagonizing and praising me. I have other students acting like I'm a teacher and responsible for the plans happening while I'm out of the country while the teacher who IS RESPONSIBLE and I stand confused and stressed out in a corner.

Cuba is not a vacation it's early morning full day rehearsals, or early morning rehearsals and afternoon gigs, I might get one evening on the beach with the band that I love the most (the one I am the student lead of) I thankfully will have Alumni I love with me because hints have been fuckin dropped about responsibilities I have not asked for.

Oh and last week my only day off was on the insistence of my teacher and I coughed until I bruised ribs.

In conclusion I am so tired and I really love these three fics they'll get updates my brain just fully shuts off as soon as I finish with school things. Like I have 4+ banner cards I haven't even done the stories for I am so tired.

mostly i get really nosy about what my friends are reading and then i have to read it too after a random delay of 6-8 months

i absolutely do not have one specific memory that i can pinpoint as the first book i remember reading but when i was little i was really obsessed with The Lighthouse Cat by Sue Stainton and Anne Mortimer. i reread it recently and i feel like you can kind of trace the influence of this picture book on the way i write about weather, which is bonkers

30. How many books do you have on your 'currently-reading' list?

JUST ONE and it's lads edited by martin taylor, which you recommended to me ages ago and which i have spent months not reading. i'm halfway through and it's really really good, thank you and i'm so sorry

El señor de la noche

Second chapter of Mr. Justice Raffles arrived thanks to my dear Bunny Manders. It's time to get my evening clothes and a bit of alcohol to deal with the antisemitism a piscola.

How we laughed as we turned into Whitehall! I began to feel I had been wrong about Raffles after all, and that enhanced my mirth. Surely this was the old gay rascal, (...) In the London lamplight that he loved so well, under a starry sky of an almost theatrical blue, he looked another man already.

"Gay rascal" is the best description of Raffles I've read so far. This feels like a really good night for Bunny, being gay and forgetting crime.

Nevertheless I could detect a serious side to my companion's mood, especially when he spoke once more of Teddy Garland, and told me that he had cabled to him also before leaving Carlsbad. 

Jealousy??? Maybe~

I followed rather heavily. It was not jealousy, but I did feel rather critical of this mushroom intimacy. So I followed up, feeling that the evening was spoilt for me—and God knows I was right! 

Yeah, jealousy~

He did not advance to grasp Raffles by the hand; there was no answering smile of welcome on the fresh young face which used to remind me of the Phoebus in Guido's Aurora, with its healthy pink and bronze, and its hazel eye like clear amber. 

Ok, not jealousy. Teddy is a very handsome man, just look at L'Aurora by Guido Reni:

Teddy, just like Bunny in The Ides of March is drowning in debts, feeling suicidal and having AJ as their saviours, but this time the one receiving attention is not Bunny, so phrases like "His love for the lad had rung out in his first greeting", "he had never thought of it since mentioning the matter to me at our meal" had a hint of jealousy more than pity. Teddy is an Apollo ready to steal cheques while Bunny is a bit more coward and his moustache weaker than a teenager's. Insecurity is here~

I never heard a man more down upon himself, or confession of error couched in stronger terms; and yet there was something so sincere and ingenuous in his remorse, something that Raffles and I had lost so long ago, that in our hearts I am sure we took his follies more seriously than our own crimes. 

Mmm... did Bunny remember what he wrote on The Ides of March? Maybe he doesn't want to remember...

Raffles was following intently, with that complete concentration which was a signal force in his equipment. His face no longer changed at anything he heard; it was as strenuously attentive as that of any judge upon the bench. Never had I clearer vision of the man he might have been but for the kink in his nature which had made him what he was.

This feels like Watson talking about Holmes!!! Well, Raffles is smart but he uses that brilliant mind for crime, and Bunny is so loyal as Watson but his style of writing is more emotional.

Once more he was a soul in torments of despair and degradation; and yet once more did the absence of the abject in man and manner redeem him from the depths of either. In these moments of reaction he was pitiful, but not contemptible, much less unlovable. Indeed, I could see the qualities that had won the heart of Raffles as I had never seen them before.

Raffles and Bunny are slowly feeling pity for Teddy, and Raffles is ready to help him but not by inviting him to do crimes, but by giving him a place to sleep.

"But you haven't got a bed, Raffles?" "You shall have mine. I hardly ever go to bed—do I, Bunny?" "I've seldom seen you there," said I.

Raffles. Are you a night owl? A vampire? or are you... the lord of the night?

According to Raffles Redux, sonmol was a name invented by Hornung, if it is an opioid it's a bad idea to mix it with alcohol, but Raffles is clearly thinking in their next steps. it's time to wait for the next chapter.

NFL Week 4

Back to Back and we not talking Drake. AJ Brown came to play this weekend, making his appearance on this blog in consecutive weeks. Brown feasted on the Washington Commanders defensive backs all day long. Brown tore Emmanuel Forbes Jr ass up for a total of 9 catches 175 yards and 2 touchdowns. AJ Brown takes home the WOW (wideoutoftheweek) award for an Oscar worthy performance.

Nico Collins would’ve taken home the WOW award had it not been for that bad ass man AJ Brown. And y’all know I tell no lies but prior to this weekend I had never heard of the young lad. I will say this though, CJ Stroud is going to have a bright future with this kid and Tank Davis. Collins is a bigger wideout who has great feet. He could not be touched on press and made some impressive catches. I won’t lie he makes the game look easy. Collins tore the Steelers up for a breakthrough performance with 9 catches 168 yards and 2 tubs. 

Puka Nacua is having a Cinderella rookie season. It’s truly amazing that he’s posting the type of numbers that veteran players are known for. With is 3rd 100 yard game of the year, Puka is making a statement that he’s here for the long haul. Against the Colts, Nacua had his usual dominate performance with 9 catches for 163 yards and 1 score. It appears Matthew Stafford has found someone to rely on after Van Jefferson has failed to fill that role and with All-Pro Cooper Kupp out due to injury. 

Brandon Aiyuk had a perfect game catching all 6 of his targets for 148 yards. Aiyuk didn’t score but a few of his catches put his team in position to get points. It’s crazy sometimes to me that defenses give up the same plays over and over. Aiyuk did all his damage in the slot running over routes making the Cardinals look foolish. 

DJ Moore is improving. My running joke is that Moore will give you the highlight play no question. But he’s also going to drop a few easy ones. He’s changing my opinion of him. Against one of the better secondary’s in the league, DJ played physical and made some big time catches against the Denver Broncos. Moore finished his afternoon with 8 catches for 131 yards for 1 score. 

Stefon Diggs knew he would have to have a spectacular day when his team played opposite and arguably against the best wideout in the game…Cheetah (Tyreek Hill). And ladies and gents I promise you Diggs stepped up to the plate in a major way. With his team up 7 points, Diggs caught a back shoulder pass, broke tackles of two defenders, and raced up the sideline for a 56-yard touchdown. Diggs also had an hat trick of touchdowns through his 6 catches for 120 yards. 

Chris Godwin is back! Although players can come back from ACL injuries within a year. It usually takes two years to get back to the player you were prior to the injury. Not that Godwin was a speedster to begin with, but it appears his pre-injury explosiveness is back. Against the New Orleans Saints Godwin caught 8 passes for 114 yards but failed to reach the end zone. 

Sorry it took a little while for this post. Sometimes I lose my creativity and this blog is a reflection of my creativity with writing as a sports performance coach. Wideouts keep getting money and Stay ballin!

this is how you lose the time war by amal el-mohtar and max gladstone. you've probably heard about. you've probably seen quotes from it. i myself was late to it (i read it the other month) but lord is the hype worth it (in my opinion). made me crazy.

the priory of the orange tree by samantha shannon. yes its big. im sorry but it is worth it. samantha the audacity to create sabran berethnet and let me read the book in a 24 period. the yearning of it all.

gideon the ninth/harrow the ninth by tamsyn muir. its aight. im not the person you should go to about gtn tbh but everyone else out there will tell you about it.

my personal favs

a memory called empire/a desolation called peace by arkady martine. yes i am talking about them again. these two books are the best thing ever written. how many hugos can one woman win. it is so intricate and layered and nobody says what they mean and the politics and the brain surgery and the sluttiness of former ambassadors. thinking about mahit dzmare's character makes me feral. three seagrass can be a teixcalaan so personal.

foundryside/shorefall by robert jackson bennett. me once again banging my one man drum about foundryside. please it is so good i dont care if the fantasy magic system isn't for you. there is a shit talking key. there is brain surgery. there are complex morals. there is a wlw romance just for the hell of it. where the plot goes in shorefall to this day makes me batshit insane. i have read shorefall at least half a dozen times in four months. can the third book come out now please mr bennett i am dying.

the long way to the small angry planet by becky chambers. becky chambers my beloved. i would die for you. i am so sorry i haven't read to be taught yet but i will buy everything you write. but about this actual book it is perfect. everything in this book was so good and soft and whenever i thought something would happen that would make me mad. nope. every single book in this series (there are four of them and all are beautiful to look at if you dont live in america) is outstanding. becky chambers and arkady martine duking it out for the hugo next year.

other books i wholeheartedly recommend

the rise of kyoshi/the shadow of kyoshi by fc lee. yes they are fantastic. if you like atla read them.

when the tiger came down the mountain by nghi vo. stunning novella but i recommend reading the first one the empress of salt and fortune first. also stunning but not as gay.

the jasmine throne by tasha suri. the start of a promising trilogy. the slow burn reeled me in lads. but in my honest opinion not as morally grey as what the people on goodreads said.

sweet and bitter magic by adrienne tooley. do you not mind ya? do you like every single trope imaginable shoved into a book? this is the book for you. the angst got to me ill admit it.

the atlas six by olivie blake. some kind of weird dark academia shit going on here. a plot relevant threesome. not wlw but theres lgbt rep throughout.

the library of the unwritten/the archive of the forgotten by aj hackwith. again not wlw but lgbt rep but i adore these books. third in the trilogy comes out the end of the year and i am stoked. cool library concepts is the best book plot and this are by far the coolest.

steel crow saga by paul krueger. a fun read overall. atla and pokemon vibes with some of that sweet sweet complex moral questions with a fun wlw couple.

jane unlimited by kristin cashore. i dont care it gets really weird in the end i adore this book. get weird kirstin you do you. fun chose your own adventure type thing. main character has romantic moments with two of the characters and its not romance heavy.

finna by nino cipri. novella about two exes trying to get through inter dimensional ikea. yes that is the plot. yes it is good

books that i haven't finished/read yet but have heard they are good

she who became the sun by shelley parker-chan. ive read the first couple chapters and was meh but everyone else ive seen that has read it loved it. is said to be mulan meets the song of achilles, which are two things i have not seen/read so.

one last stop by casey mcquiston. i have read 2/3s of this but ill be honest the sex kinda threw me out of the book. if you dont have this problem and liked rwrb you will also like this.

the liars dictionary by eley williams. if you like pretentious english kid speak. really neat idea for a book is you can get past that.

the councillor by ej beaton. ugh i wanted to read this one so bad but i found it at not a good reading time for me. sounds like it is fantastic though. politics heavy book.

unconquerable sun by kate elliot. if you like greek retellings and can stand tense changes (i cannot).

black sun by rebecca roanhorse. have heard nothing but good things and is hugo nominated and yet i have not finished. shame on me.

these feathered flames by alexandra overy. russian folklore inspired fantasy. dont know whether it is classified as ya but has ya vibes.

fireheart tiger by aliette de bodard. i haven't even started this one but its short and has politics, yearning, and yearning while doing politics.

Mod Vera: Mods get brought on as needed, as you can see with the arrival of Mod Edgeworth! Also, DGS2 is one of the few AA titles I’ve never played, but rest assured. Where there’s a letter, there’s a Mod who can answer it!

Mod Edgeworth: To add to Mod Vera, even if you weren’t accepted during any mod applications, that doesn’t mean you have lost all chances. I applied early January and lost to Mod Vera. Regardless, Co-Mod informed me that, even though I was rejected, he saw my potential and kept me in mind for if I was ever needed. Now, here I am.

Just because you get rejected, that doesn’t mean it’s game over. Show that you have potential and make yourself known by sending letters to us. That is what I did, after being rejected. I made myself known to the mods by sending letters. We do read them and they tell us how much you know the characters and games of AA more than any application. Of course, you must also follow the guidelines. That just goes without saying.

Co-Mod: I think my actual words were something like “Don’t tell anyone, but you were my second choice.”  But yeah, what they said is true -- becoming a Mod here, like many things, may or may not happen to you, but you can definitely increase your chances by waiting patiently and demonstrating your potential.

As for DGS2 letters, I’m afraid those are still off-limits unless you know of a way to play or watch the game in its entirety, translated into English.  I guess I could check to see if the Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2 channel finished translating...

(Translation: Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!  ...D-Don’t tell me?!)

...Okay, looks like I have some watching to do.  Don’t know how I missed that.

So, uh...  That part in bold was what I was going to say.  Now that both games are finally getting an official English version, all I can say is, hang tight!

I like to put my heart and effort when answering these letters. With this one, I figured you wanted to see Trucy in costume, so I just searched up an image on Google for the Ancient One’s costume, a sprite of Trucy and a bald head to put on her. The rest I photoshopped on GIMP.

Mod Edgeworth: Thank you very much. Your support and the others’ support that have liked, commented and reblogged it mean a lot. As you have stated, a majority of the fandom seem to consider him the worst. I’d like to think it’s because how AA had created this villain of a character to be universally hated was pure genius. Not even the Phantom gets this much hate… and that’s saying something.

Unfortunately, I’d like to keep my real identity outside this blog a secret. I write a lot of letters here and I don’t want to break the spell for anyone. Think of it like a Disney theme park. The cast that play the characters will never admit their true identities, outside of family and close friends, to prevent the experience from being ruined. I want to do the same as a Mod. I don’t want to break the spell of writing to your favorite AA characters. This blog had helped me through my tough times and I want to help everyone else as a mod.

However, I will answer your letters and, if you post anything on your account, a mysterious friend I know may linger and give you a like ;)

Mod Edgeworth: That letter was made in 2012 before AA5 and AA6, which was WAY before I became a part of the AA fandom. I’m certain a lot of us were not here when this letter was made, except maybe Co-Mod, but you’ll have to speak with him about this. I will say that the mod that answered this is no longer working here... I think. At the very least, I haven’t heard from him.

That being said, AA4 or Apollo Justice was the first AA game I’ve ever played. Despite all of the hate I saw towards that game, I still loved it regardless. Though, having not played the trilogy, playing the tutorial of AJ was a pain in the ass. I remember going to YouTube to find out how to beat it, because it was so hard. I also played it on PC.

I do see where The Mod was coming from. Had the two sequel games never existed, Apollo Justice would have more holes than my brothers’ socks. My only critique is that Phoenix wasn’t any better either with having Mia babysitting him during almost every trial AND investigations. Hell, Phoenix needed Mia to know how to talk to a kid, talk to a perverted old man, almost gave up in most of his trials in the first game and never conducted a trial without Mia until Turnabout Goodbyes when Maya literally couldn’t summon her. For the most part, Apollo was doing fine on his own without Phoenix, with only Trucy assisting him for the two middle trials, only almost giving up once and Phoenix having assisted him during times when Apollo was not in a normal situation (like when the criminal turned out to be his own co-council/mentor or when he had to lead a trial that included the Jury System). That’s more than Phoenix ever did on his own in the first two games and I think Apollo deserves more credit than he got in that letter in my opinion.

For me, Apollo Justice is one of those games you either like or you hate. I love it for what it is. My least favorite AA game would have to be Ace Attorney Investigations, the first game. The second one is my absolute favorite.

Co-Mod: Sadly, I haven’t seen or heard from the Mod in a while, so it may be time for us to declare him MIA again.

I’m fairly certain I wasn’t around 5 years long ago, but I have to say, Capcom did a great job of making Apollo and his story more interesting over time.  He may not be Phoenix, but he certainly carried his legacy forward pretty well, both as an attorney and as an Ace Attorney protagonist.

Co-Mod: It fits like a glove, if you ask me...although it also kind of reminds me of 101 Dalmatians.  And thanks for that bit of info!  I never get tired of watching people enjoying the fun dialogue and plot twists of Ace Attorney, so I might have to look him up.

I’m not sure I feel the same about watching Dahlia’s voice actress, though.  I’m sure she’s a nice person and all, but the thought of hearing that voice for so long...  *shudder*

It's "The Wrong House" this time! Special thanks to my dear friend Bunny Manders <3

In this story Raffles got caught by a kid, and it's Bunny who can run away or save him.

Would Raffles leave me held by a hand through a hole in a door? What he would have done in my place was the thing for me to do now.

This. This moment is another proof of Bunny's loyalty. he can't leave alone Raffles and this time his head is cold and fast enough to come with a plan to rescue him. He had to take extreme measure against that kid and still he knows that maybe it was too much for the moment, but again~ this is Bunny Manders and his life goes around AJ Raffles.

Oh, I am not proud of it; the act was as vile as act could be; but I was not going to see Raffles taken, my one desire was to be the saving of him, and I tremble even now to think to what lengths I might have gone for its fulfilment.

One detail that I really love from this story is how Bunny reflects about his own actions and he doesn't hesitate in write them. He knows that what he did was extreme, he knows that is something that he would never do, but Raffles is his priority more than anything else.

Oh, but it was villainous, my part especially, for he must have been far gone to go the rest of the way so readily. I began by saying I was not proud of this deed, but its dastardly character has come home to me more than ever with the penance of writing it out. I see in myself, at least my then self, things that I never saw quite so clearly before. Yet let me be quite sure that I would not do the same again. I had not the smallest desire to throttle this innocent lad (nor did I), but only to extricate Raffles from the most hopeless position he was ever in; and after all it was better than a blow from behind. On the whole, I will not alter a word, nor whine about the thing any more.

Bunny's moral are still more "black or white" that Raffles' grey one even after all the crimes he commited, but now he has more confidence on himself to be the knight in shining armour when is needed.

cat! i haven't been following for very long now, but i really enjoy seeing you on the dashboard. i think i've only caught an eyeful of your wallace and your apollo so far whenever i have been around, and i have to say they're both delightful. it's so rare that i see someone writing wallace, and i think you pull off our favorite water champion-slash-gym-leader with a glorious amount of grace! [ also props for the 'wallace waters' headcanon, i think it's very on brand and witty! ] it's been a real treat seeing what you've been up to with him, and i'm looking forward to more from him and his milotic! on the other side of the canons spectrum, your apollo is such a delight to see! i haven't played aj / aa in a looooong while, but you really capture ol' steel chord's voice super well! i can hear it flowing off your responses! it definitely puts me in my corner of considering making that aj muse i was contemplating before 8') <3 keep up the good work, i can't wait to see more from your other muses!

I want to cry!!! I love this!! This is so sweet!! I was honestly very surprise to not see anyone writing Wallace, tbh ! I always thought he was popular, so I thought people would be writing him but I wa Avery surprised!! It makes me happy that people like him and his bond with his milotic; and oh my god, the ‘Wallace Waters’ thing still makes me LAUGH. Big brain energy.

Number 10. Hildebrand Wolfmüller. Hildebrand and Wolf Müller's first motorcycle is one of the world's most costly bikes. They have a lengthy and illustrious past. Heinrich and Wilhelm Hildebrand, the company's founders, were steam-engine engineers before teaming together to develop an internal combustion engine.
