top three autistic-coded Jack traits?
1. the stimming/fidgeting for sure âŚ
i like to call it an alcting choice (like jensenâs jacting joices when it comes to dean) bc literally none of it is an intended part of his character, alex just does that naturally and decides to put it into his portrayal and it ended up being So perfect
2. . not sure i have good visuals for this one but him having at least 3 honest-to-god onscreen meltdowns is also very special to me .. like here when heâs panicking abt dean being knocked out
or This Scene ⌠(+1 for hitting himself thats a very huge part of meltdowns)
i donât have a gif for this one i think but the âleave me aloneâ scene from 14x17 is also a major contender
overall whats very special and important to me about these traits is that theyâre just a Part of him that everyone understands and accepts AND it doesnât take away from the rest of his character or suddenly make him infantile ,. Obviously since it isnât an intentional trait there isnât any writing to center around it or change its portrayal but even still that just adds to how much more natural it feels honestly ⌠i love him so so much
3. Hhjnmmmmmmmm i also think itâs rlly silly that he has a special interest in monsters and zombies too :3

Food Sensitivity Test
Learning about their potential predisposition to food sensitivity at the cellular level can empower a person to make targeted changesâboth in their personal environment and in how they eatâthat can help them live a more comfortable life.
Suggestions for lifestyle and supplement changes are included in a report, providing clear direction for how to manage any food or pet sensitivities.

How does the Food Sensitivity Test work?
The Food Allergy or Food Sensitivity Panels measures the immunoglobulin antibodies in a personâs blood and how a person reacts to certain foods.
Food Sensitivity can be measured using the ALCT 50 Food Sensitivity and Intolerance Panel. It measures the 50 foods that can potentially cause food sensitivity. Some of the foods measured are as follows:FruitsGluten productsMeatsVegetablesBananasWheatChickenString BeansApplesPotatoesBeefTomatoesPearsRice  GrapesFlour of any kind  Strawberries  Â
Challenges in measuring Food Sensitivity
These examples of food sensitivity are measured but could pose some challenges. Time frames of reactions vary from immediate to longer times of reaction including the volume of the food consumed.
The level of discomfort to food is complicated further as people consume many different foods in a given day. Which food is causing the food sensitivity and reaction is difficult to pinpoint. However, the ALCT panel will provide more insights into what specific food is causing the discomfort.
Food intolerance can manifest itself later in life due to aging, changes in lifestyle and other reasons. Hence, testing for intolerance is key to providing people the best way to manage the intake of foods and avoiding foods that they are sensitive to. Food Sensitivity tests have provided many people significant relief in managing their ongoing food challenges and discomfort.
The tests range from 50 â panel tests to a larger volume of food tests.
Call SmarTest Labs for further guidance on which test you will need to take. We will craft a test that best meets your needs and understand your Food sensitivity issues. Call us to customize your panel and tests.

Learning Library Cataloging
For 2 of my 3 projects this semester, I am going to concentrate on learning some technologies that are used in library cataloging. For project 1, I plan to focus on learning the basics of library cataloging and understanding the AACR2 (Anglo-American Cataloging Rules) standard and be able to create a catalog record in MARC21 using AACR2. for project 2, I hope to learn more about the RDA standard, how to implement it in MARC21, and more about subject headings and authority names.
The textbook I will be using for my independent learning is this one:
Lazarinis, Fotis. Cataloguing and ClassificationâŻ: an Introduction to AACR2, RDA, DDC, LCC, LCSH and MARC 21 Standards / Fotis Lazarinis. First edition., Chandos Publishing, 2015.
A review suggests that it is best to supplement this book with examples and work on subject headings (so for this I will find outside tutorials, such as the LOC tutorials on LCSH).
Another source I will use (I plan to bounce between them) is this text, which seems better suited to consultation for definitions rather than reading straight-through because it is so thorough:
Joudrey, Daniel N., et al. Introduction to Cataloging and Classification / Daniel N. Joudrey, Arlene G. Taylor, and David P. Miller. Eleventh edition., Libraries Unlimited, 2015.
Finally, I plan to find a workbook to use for examples.Â
Later in the semester, I have signed up for the ALCTS course Fundamentals of Cataloging (it starts March 23, so I plan to tackle MARC21 and RDA for my 3rd project this semester. Hereâs the syllabus:
"Fundamentals of Cataloging Syllabus", American Library Association, September 17, 2014. http://www.ala.org/alcts/confevents/webcourse/foc/syll (Accessed January 29, 2020)Â Document ID: 6951d13e-83ec-417a-85be-bed2bea6176f
The majority of these resources (in addition to this robust list of resources by the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Illinois) https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/i-share/cat/basic-cataloging-resources split âcatalogingâ into these sections (they all do the orders differently, though):
Cataloging Basics (ch. 1 of Lazarinis, ABLE-5 webinar on Intro to Cataloging, (and possibly) The Accidental Cataloger Webinar by Emily Nimsakont)
MARC 21 (https://www.loc.gov/marc and ABLE 8 webinar-Intro to MARC cataloging)
Descriptive Standards
RDA
AACR2 (Lazarinis ch. 2-4)
Classification
Library of Congress Classification
Dewey Decimal
Headings
Library of Congress Subject Headings (ABLE 6-Introduction to Subject Headings and Library of Congress workshop at https://www.loc.gov/catworkshop/lcsh/index.html)
Authorities
I plan to break up my work for the first project as follows:
Meeting 1: define resources, compile outline above, read Lazarinis ch. 1
Meeting 2: watch ABLE-5 webinar (if possible), read Lazarinis ch. 2-4, watch ABLE-8 webinar on Intro to MARC
Meeting 3: Lazarinis ch. 11, exercises on AACR2 in MARC, TBD
Meeting 4: exercises in AACR2 in MARC, TBD
In addition to the resources linked above, I will consult with my classmates Jen, who has similar learning goals for project 1, and Lucy, who previously completed a cataloging WISE class.
Finally, I plan to keep tabs on this Facebook group suggested by Lucy: Troublesome Catalogers and Magical Metadata Fairies

Preservation Week Thursday Tip of the Day

Why do conservators hate tape? Pressure-sensitive tapes (like Scotch tape, duct tape, masking tape) have aggressive adhesives and bad aging properties. Chemicals in the tape can stain and degrade paper materials over time, and often tape is stronger than the object it is stuck to, causing damage during removal. Rule of thumb: if you want your object to stand the test of time, talk to a conservator about better options for mending, and hold off on a quick-fix with tape.
Don't forget the ALCTS webinar Preservation Week: Caring for Family Keepsakes is TODAY at 2pm.  Sign-up here to receive your access link.
Tomorrow stop by our Preservation Week table in the Hesburgh library concourse from 12-2. Liz and Neil will be onsite to share our work with Preventive Preservation.

Shall we play a game?
Preservation Week is an initiative of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS), a division of the American Library Association. The week is aimed at raising awareness of the need for preservation of all collections. Preservation Week runs from April 21st to April 27th, 2019.
We are joining the Preservation Week festivities by sharing with you a very special board game: Disaster Recovery in the Library. Who developed the game? Your friendly librarians here at the Othmer Library.
We created the game for our session at The Library Collective Conference in Knoxville, Tennessee, in March 2019. In the game, players work as a team with each person taking on the role of a different library or institutional staff member who may be responsible for disaster recovery. By adopting these various personas (e.g., library director, reference librarian, systems librarian, student worker, building engineer, etc.), players are compelled to consider disaster recovery from multiple perspectives.
The game provides practical tips for handling disasters in the form of multiple choice questions (see our February 5th, 2019 post to read about our own disaster recovery experience). Critical thinking questions and wild cards stimulate group discussions about events and obstacles that may occur during the disaster recovery process.
Weâre making the entire game and its accompanying booklet available through our online catalog. Itâs our hope that the game will provide helpful tips for effectively handling library disasters, and spark conversations at institutions about disaster policies and procedures. When a disaster strikes, staff need to know how to handle the situation. Play the game, get those conversations started now.Â
Access it all here: Disaster Recovery in the Library: The Board Game.
