[ad_1] Golaghat, Assam : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated the first phase of the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Assam’s Golaghat district, a major achievement in the state’s police service development. The academy, redesigned to offer world-class facilities for police training, is a reflection of the government’s plan for strengthening the law enforcement system in the country. Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Dergaon, Assam, has been set up to impart state-of-the-art training to police officials. While inaugurating it, Amit Shah laid the foundation for the second phase of the development of the academy, highlighting the government’s vision of long-term reforms in the police force. The academy is located over a vast 340 acres of land and is being renovated at an estimated expense of Rs 1,024 crore in two phases. The first phase, which has already been completed at a cost of Rs 167.4 crore, comprises a range of state-of-the-art facilities. They include a five-story building where there are smart classrooms, a weapon simulator, research laboratories, administrative offices, and a museum. The academy further has a state-of-the-art parade ground, which will be employed in drill and other practical exercises. Referring to the importance of the new infrastructure, one official said, “This state-of-the-art infrastructure is meant to offer smooth theoretical and practical training to law enforcement officers. The simulator for weapon training, for instance, will enable trainees to go through real combat situations in a totally secure environment, thus preparing them for real challenges at no risks or expenses. The museum constructed under the first phase is a reflection of the rich cultural and historical heritage of Assam, and the parade ground will assist in developing the physical and tactical capabilities of police officers. The smart classrooms of the academy will also impart cutting-edge training in fields like cybersecurity, forensic science, criminal law, and so on, so that the police force is capable of addressing the challenges of the present times. In the second phase, the academy will witness the establishment of housing infrastructure for police officers and trainees. The sanctioned Rs 425.48 crore will be spent on constructing residential quarters for 240 families, hostels for 312 officers, and quarters for 2,640 trainees, increasing the capacity of the academy to deliver world-class police training. The launch of the academy is a testament to the government’s steadfast commitment to the modernization of police forces and equipping them adequately to address the intricacies of security issues in the 21st century. Through investment in cutting-edge training infrastructure, the Bharatiya government is not merely upgrading the professional skills of its police force but also affirming the country’s dedication to public security and safety. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and Director General of Police Harmeet Singh were also present at the event, which reflected the joint efforts of the state and central governments in improving law enforcement services in Assam and the northeast. This program is another instance of the Bharatiya government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement in the nation, making sure that police officers have the instruments, the information, and skills to serve and protect the people in a constantly changing world. Truth
It has been found that the claims made by Assam's Chief Minister are false. The Quint found that the book Gandhi is carrying in the photo from the post looks like the Constitution of India (Coat Pocket Edition) by Gopal Sankaranarayanan, published by Eastern Book Company. Several political figures such as former President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were also seen with the same edition in various pictures.

#Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra : Rahul Gandhi Slams Assam CM For His Actions ; Claims Yatra Getting More Publicity
Hours after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the DGP to register a case against former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for “provoking the crowd” to break barricades during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the Congress leader claimed that “fear in their hearts” has led to such a direction.
As per PTI report, The Gandhi scion further said, he does not get ‘intimidated’ and fights for truth even if the world stands against it, remarks that come amid repeated confrontations between his party and the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Bharatiya Janata Party government in Assam during the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’.
Gandhi also said he was happy and wanted the BJP to disrupt the yatra as it was helping it in getting publicity.
The Rahul Gandhi-led yatra was stopped from entering Guwahati, triggering protests from Congress workers who broke barricades and raised slogans.
Gandhi also claimed that he was ‘not allowed’ to interact with students of a private university in Meghalaya as part of the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ at the ‘instructions’ of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“The BJP had the experience of the earlier yatra, it started from Kanyakumari and they maintained that it would not have any impact. Slowly its impact started being felt and a crescendo was formed in Jammu and Kashmir. Now their thinking is to disrupt it first. The problem for them (BJP) is that by disrupting the yatra, they end up helping it,” he said at a press conference in Hajo.
Earlier Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed Director General of Police G P Singh to register a case against Gandhi for allegedly provoking a crowd to break barricades erected along a highway to prevent Congress leaders and supporters taking part in the Yatra from entering the main thoroughfares of Guwahati, the largest city of the state.
Gandhi is leading the Manipur-to-Mumbai Yatra, which entered Assam from Meghalaya on Tuesday for the second and final leg of its travel through the state. It will travel through Assam till Thursday.

"Risk Increases": Rahul Gandhi In Assam, M Kharge's Letter To Amit Shah
A day after Rahul Gandhi-led Congress workers clashed with Assam police personnel on the Guwahati city limits, party president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking his intervention to ensure the security of Mr Gandhi and other participants of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
This comes after Assam Police filed an FIR against Mr Gandhi and other Congress leaders for the clash. They have been charged with criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, breach of peace, among others. The case was filed after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the "naxalite tactics" used by Congress workers are "not part of Assamese culture".
In his letter to the Home Minister, Mr Kharge listed "several instances where the Assam Police has been found wanting in providing adequate security" Mr Gandhi is entitled to as a Z+ protectee. He then referred to the defacing of Congress posters and BJP workers blocking the Congress yatra on January 21 and assaulting state party chief Bhupen Borah.
"In all of the troubling events mentioned above, the Assam Police has systematically stood by and/or allowed BJP workers to come closer and closer to the convoy of Shri. Rahul Gandhi, breaching his security cordon, and endangering his physical security and that of his team," Mr Kharge wrote.
None of those involved in these incidents, he said, had been arrested despite the presence of evidence in the public domain. "As the risk increases and as the Yatra proceeds as planned, we request your intervention to ensure that the Chief Minister of Assam and the Director General of Police, Assam ensure that no such untoward incident takes place which may lead to grave personal injury to Shri. Rahul Gandhi or any members of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra," he added.
Congress leaders have been alleging that Mr Sarma has been creating hurdles in the yatra. Yesterday's clash at Guwahati city limits took place when police stopped Congress workers from moving on city roads. The administration had earlier denied permission for the yatra to move through the city's arterial roads, citing congestion fears. Congress workers termed the grounds of denying permission frivolous and tried to break through the barricades, leading to the clash with cops.
