Thinking ab that scene. That scene where Jesse shows his dad his sobriety chip and Adam acts totally dismissive and disinterested. And it’s probably bc he’s afraid of giving himself false hope but ofc this only confirms to Jesse that it doesn’t matter what he does, his parents don’t want him back, not really. They were disappointed in him even before he became an addict bc of his low academic performance, he’ll never fit their expectations, so why try at all? He saw how they treated his aunt when she needed them the most, and they refuse to even admit he stepped up bc it doesn’t fit with their poor image of him, so obviously they’re determined not to give him the benefit of the doubt bc they don’t want to let him back in their lives, right? So he screws them over on the house and the next and last time they speak it’s over the phone and he’s trying desperately to leave them with something other than the years both parties have spent letting resentment build and never really trying to connect with one another on a human level because they were afraid of getting hurt again. Owwww owie :(

The strong parallelism between o!Ciel and Lizzy, as she's understands O!Ciel's position what it's like to lose a brother. Alexis and Frances look upon the lost of the next head of family, the symbol of a bright future, laying at their feet. The implicit understanding from the entire family that, oh, once again the same tragedy took place and we were unable to do anything about it. In fact, were we not the ones who caused it through our complacency...?

Immediate responsibility is thrust upon Edward as the inheritor to his father's legacy and feels how every action of his, past and future are weighed in blood. And Frances who lost so much already, could at least believe in her own strength, because after all how did she survive? How did she make it out of there, how did she escape from the tragic fate that fell on her brother? She walked towards the lion in the bright sun. But she was unable to protect her most beloved. What strength? Lizzy looks upon her teacher, and only sees failure. If she can't believe in her mother, what's there to believe in...

And yet another one of Ciel's family members die! Another aunt he cherished dies! How many adults he could trust, before they betray him with death, death, more death! Lizzy stares, asking if she fulfilled her teachings in the end? But look at her now! A broken father and child is all she left. A mangled body, and a grief more twisted than that. Is that how she, Lizzy, would have ended up? The beacon is abandoned and everyone is left adrift.

JK Rowling’s books are a building. And she stopped after creating shitty, waterlogged, deeply structurally unsound blueprints and half the scaffolding. Then left it to the elements (aka her Twitter), damaging it nearly beyond repair.

And the fandom looked at this, and put on hard hats. And they tore down that scaffolding, and took those blueprints and changed it into something that would work, and they built the most beautiful building you’ve ever seen.

The building JK Rowling designed was deeply flawed, it would never pass inspection, it would collapse under its own weight and lack of structural integrity within seconds of being built. The aesthetic design was tragic and hideous and offensive. But the fans looked at all of that, and said to themselves, “this building is fucked up, it will never be good if left like this, and everything about it is terrible and makes zero sense. But goddamnit, I have trauma and I can fix it because it must be done and no one else will.”

JK Rowling may have designed that original building. She may have had the initial idea. She may have built that unfinished scaffolding. She may have drawn those blueprints.

But this building is no longer JK Rowling’s.

in the swap au, wakaba lives and akechi has a confidant with her. the only problem is it's with her shadow and not the actual wakaba.

you see, i had to do some equivalent exchange and sacrifice sojiro in order for wakaba to live. it's currently too dangerous for akechi to be near the real wakaba right now because she may have quit working for shido, but she's too closely monitored not only by his agents but by her own daughter as well. if akechi were to contact her in the real world, a target would be put on his back. good thing he encountered her shadow first.

he stumbled upon the shadow completely by chance. it behaved differently from other shadows. much more like palace rulers. probably because she was on the cusp of developing one. the two only talked, akechi on guard in case she attacked and shadow wakaba just stays in her corner. they strike up a deal: in exchange for limited information of cognitive pscience (because shido would know when the phantom thieves know too much), he keeps her company and stop her from developing a palace by reminding her of reasons why she the real wakaba shouldn't give into her twisted desires.

her rank 10 would be changing her heart and sending her back to the real wakaba. after getting the final rank, if akechi goes to leblanc, the real wakaba would be waiting and give him a thank you note and a free meal. she'd also offer help during the whole "pretending the black masks actually killed him" thing.
