The Surface was brought back to earth. The Institute is destroyed. Jerren is in a padded cell. But can you ever forget the three months you spent as acolyte to an all-powerful madman?

You walk along while the others are distracted by the collection of disguises and wealth. There’s just one thing you’re interested in.   Further down the tunnel, you shine your flashlight onto the boxy, complicated machine that still rests on the table.  This is how Jerren sent his records to another timeline. This is what made him a god.  You take a pair of safety goggles out of your purse and put them on. Next, you pull out your hammer and heft its weight in one hand, eyeing the machine.  When you last saw it, it was humming with energy. But now it looks like it’s been switched off. Did Jerren turn it off, after losing his powers? Or is it because the timeline it was linked to is gone?  You have a hunch that when Jerren lost his powers, the machine stopped working. But either way, even if Jerren does get his powers back, he’ll never add to his archives again. You’ll see to that. You raise the hammer over your head with both hands.

Reader sold herself to Sans to pay for her sister Sasha’s hospital treatments; Sans bought Reader to help him forget his failure to stop the anomaly. Against their better judgments, the two of them fell for each other. When Reader learned the truth about the anomaly, she and Sans made a plan to stop him: she would distract Jerren for as long as possible while Sans figured out how to destroy his power to turn back time. Sans pulled it off — sacrificing himself in the process. Now, no one remembers he ever existed.

The Surface has been brought down to earth, the Institute is destroyed, and Jerren has been taken into custody. But Reader has been traumatized by three months spent at the God-King’s side… and she has a nagging feeling she’s forgotten something.
