I joined the Starkid fandom around 2011, disappeared around 2017 and properly came back like a few months ago and as you can imagine it’s crazy different now but it’s been the best thing being apart of this wonderful community again and I’m feeling a bit nostalgic so I thought I’d list the things I remember from when I first joined. (I would have been 11/12).

• The StarkidWiki mainly being lots of fuckyeah_____ pages for the actors.

• Me making one for Meredith because I loved her in starship and couldn’t believe she didn’t have one.

• Being obsessed with Joe Moses’s ‘Potion’s Master Corner’ series.

• When MTV went and visited Starkid during the making of Starship (mainly about Darren’s involvement as he was on GLEE by then).

• Everyone wearing or wanting pink sunglasses.

• The old space themed logos.

• Having fan-art from all the musicals on my IPhone 3G, like Pigfarts, Umbridge, Tootsie Noodles etc.

• Listening to all the music on YouTube like the very potter soundtracks and even compilations of everyone’s vocals.

• Boy Toy always getting stuck in my head.

• Watching Me and My Dick at like 12 because I wanted to have seen every musical.

• Joe Walker revealing Brian and Meredith were a couple and everyone freaking out.

• Watching all the Space Tour and Apocalyptour challenges.

• The excitement surrounding the announcement of AVPSY.

• Seeing Jeff Blim for the first time as Sweet Tooth and being like wow this man is amazingly talented, then seeing him as Aragon in AVPSY and being like wow this man is talented and hot.

• Watching the videos of the HMB cast do panels in their costumes at the 2012 Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (and Sean Astin as ‘Dylan Saunders’??).

• Being excited at all the Starkid cameos in Chris Allen’s short film ‘OMG’.

(I can’t remember as much from 2014-2016 and this list got long and boring 🫣).

Ignore that I'm answering this at least a month late.

I marathoned the entire Predator franchise for the first time while sick a few weeks back and yeah I liked Prey! It was solid all around and I think the historical period setting was a fresh/cool direction to take the series. And it sounds like they're making a sequel so I'm kind of excited for that ngl

It was my second favorite of the bunch/one of the two total I'm likely to ever revisit (AVP went from the only one I'd ever seen to my favorite, because I'm a heathen)

This may sound stupid. Even though people may disagree about that. But it's what I'm going to say and it's merely my opinion.

I think Wolf's design is the pinnacle of Predator designs. More so, he's the best design since the original two. Which are Diablo and Ghost who I'm talking about.

Like, while I still really like Feral and some others. Wolf is strangely perfect.

I feel like rewatching AVP Requiem is going to be possibly a chore or pain whenever I make a review of it. And it still bums me out that this design along with the other ones from Requiem are in...well, Requiem.

Just some Saw related ramblings. Not in-universe stuff, but recalling Life Experiences with it lmao

Okay so uh I had known about the way the first movie ended years before I actually watched it. I was very much a case of 'my parents won't let me watch horror movies because I'm too young, but I've been obsessed with horror for as long as I can remember, so I'm gonna go down to the basement where we keep The Scary Movies and just read what's on the DVD cover + get scared by the pictures on them, and then also go on imdb and read the entire plot, spoilers and all'

There were a lot of movies that were like that for me lol. But uh I think as far back as my early teens I knew about the ending sequence specifically with Adam being left to rot in the bathroom and the fucking face he makes as he's screaming for his life and god. That shit still gives me this horrible dread to this day, I fuckin hate it

Genuinely his fate (just looking at the first movie here) is one of my biggest fears lmao. Being permanently trapped in this absolutely hopeless, fucked situation where all you can do is slowly and painfully die just MAKES ME FEEL QUITE SICK TO MY STOMACH, MAN

Another Incident I have with this was like. I was 13-14 or so? And my dad was watching Alien vs. Predator and I was just kinda sat back in the kitchen watching it too. And there's this part where the temple they're in starts shifting and shit, and as a result this guy falls into another section of the place. And all he can do is scream as he's closed into pitch black, and OTHER CHARACTERS WATCH IT HAPPEN AND THEY'RE SCREAMING BACK AT HIM AND REACHING FOR HIM EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE TOO FAR AWAY TO HAVE EVER ACTUALLY GOTTEN HIM OUT OF THERE LIKE. DOG,

I can just so vividly recall myself fuckin sitting there after that little moment happened and like. I was like rooted on the spot just sitting there in horror HRKSLGLKSK..,.., And y’know needless to say it still fucks me up to this day, I got a damn pit of anxiety right now writing this shit up 😩😩😩

Then like at least a year later we had stopped at a Walmart to grab food for a cabin trip, and my dad wanted to get a movie to watch that weekend. And of course he finds AvP and wanted to buy it. But my ass was pulling literally any excuse in the book to dissuade him without having to say THAT MOVIE FUCKED ME UP, DAD. because y’know my epic little 15 year old brain was like THAT WOULD BE EMBARRASSING TO ADMIT. We didn't end up buying it and I was just like I LIVE ANOTHER DAY 🙏

And I also have never done a full rewatch of that movie 😌 which y’know I've heard that I'm not exactly missing much. But it's just like YEA I'M GOOD. 👍 THANKS

So uh. Being forever stuck in a space and slowly dying. Don't like it. Not a fan. Absolutely not

that is simply too many movies. however i had an exceptionally bad year so you know what im forgiving myself. i wish i still had letterboxd pro so i could see the percentage of new movies vs rewatches but its all good

okay #ICanExplain lmao my cousin and i saw each other in puerto vallarta on vacation in november and i mentioned that i felt bad about not having made a movie in years and he said we should shoot something short just for fun. we ended up taking edibles and doing a deep dive into kurt kren’s filmography, learning a lot about his work (and his friends’ work) and about abstractionism in film. and we did make a movie (loosely)!

what a year! 😮‍💨

the cute part is i can easily associate all of these milestones to a specific period in my year. i picked up northanger abbey from the thrift store wanting to watch an adaptation to prepare for the gothic romance fringe show i would do in the summer. i watched aliens during The Summer Of Bill Paxton™ with the hellchat when we watched several avp movies. i watched slightly more saw movies during october (barely) for spooky season or whatever. and of course i watched kill bill after a break up because cmon

this was the funniest part to me. fuck you letterboxd. you’re right but fuck you
