Good Omens graphic novel update: August 2024
This time last year, the Kickstarter was in full swing, what a journey it’s been since then! Colleen is still working hard to complete the graphic novel and we have some incredible pages to share with you.
There have been many merchandise updates in the past few months and whilst a number of backers told us they loved these, others wanted to hear more directly about the graphic novel itself. So, for this month we will focus 100% on Colleen’s work, and how the various editions of the book are coming along. Everything is shaping up rather nicely, if we do say so ourselves!
You may have seen some of the sneak peeks Colleen has posted recently, such as this wonderful scene between our heroes:
And our favourite angel and demon on the road.
Collen has recently shared a rare view from her drawing board with us. "Working on pages 75 pages apart at the same time" she explains. The joy for us is that these pages arrive similarly out of order, so the graphic novel is unfurling like a magnificent jigsaw.
The reversible alternative covers by Rachael Stott and Frank Quitely are coming together beautifully. Different vibes, both ‘heavenly’ and we’re delighted to share them with you:
Moving inside. Here's an introduction to your introduction: our favourites include: Dog: Satanical hellhound and cat-worrier. Everyone should have one!
With the pencils mapping out the story almost completely in place, here are some samples from across the book – don’t worry we’re not giving too much away. It is always interesting to see these images come in, then watch them evolve over time
As we enter the latter stages of inking and colouring, we're also getting glorious new artwork by the bucketload. Colleen has been working diligently and it’s simply wonderful to see the story coming to life so vibrantly.
We shared this a few updates ago in its inked form. Now here it is in full glass-shattering colour.
A jaunty moustache and some 'definitely not-bad-news' being delivered in the middle of a birthday party.
A prior inked piece we shared before. Crowley venting his frustrations, oh so subtly.
And here's a closer look at some of the Horsemen in situ.
...of course you must also have some snippets of Aziraphale and Crowley having a fine time with books and wine.
And this rather lovely panel ends the previews of our main duo for this update.
But one final thing before we leave our heroes for this month... feast your eyes on this absolutely gorgeous celestial piece.
And now to the admin.
If you have a query, please check the Good Omens graphic novel FAQ page at terrypratchett.com. Some key recurring questions:
The Good Omens graphic novel was listed to publish in July 2024 - why have I not received it? We shared an update on April 16th 2024 introducing the new timeline and full context on why dates had to be moved. You can read that here. We appreciate that some didn't catch the timeline update and had been expecting items to arrive across July and August - the graphic novel and surrounding items are due to arrive in Spring 2025 to align with the new publication date. Thank you for your patience. We promise that it will be worth the wait!
I've been in touch with a query about my pledge but have not heard back - what should I do? We have been dealing with a significantly increased number of messages recently and our team are working through them as best we can. If you have messaged over a week ago and are yet to hear back, please get in touch again, either via the message thread on Kickstarter or your previous email chain. Rest assured, we are reading and working through all messages as quickly as we can and appreciate your patience.
If your question is not answered in the FAQ, please don't hesitate to contact us and we can get back to you as soon as possible.
Events
We announced in our June update that Crowley's S2 Bentley would be appearing at ACME Comic Con in Glasgow. Unfortunately, our team will no longer be attending, so the Bentley will not appear at this event. We wanted to let you know as soon as possible in case you have booked tickets expressly to see it, or to meet the Good Omens HQ team. Maggie Service is also no longer attending the event, however Quelin Sepulveda, our beloved Muriel, is still appearing on the Saturday, and there are many filming locations around the central belt of Scotland if you are visiting, so you can still make your trip a little more ineffable. We apologise for any disruption to your plans.
Colleen has also had to cancel her appearance at the upcoming DragonCon, as she explains here.

The Adventures of Faith the Eevee - Ep 1
Season 1, Episode 1: Tied up at the Farmer's Market!
On a lovely Saturday morning, August 3rd, 2024, the Farmer's Market in Downtown Greenville, South Carolina, was bustling with activity. Faith Miller, a happy-go-lucky 20-year-old, walked alongside her father, Tony Miller, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Faith wore a short-sleeved V-neck shirt with a white heart on it and blue skorts. Her purple pocketbook, containing her phone charger, headphones, and phone, swung gently by her side.
As they strolled through the market, Faith's eyes were drawn to a vendor called Bossy Bakers, known for their delectable desserts. To her surprise, she saw Maurice LaMarche and Rob Paulsen, famous for their voices as The Brain and Pinky respectively, working at the stall.
"Hi there!" Rob greeted in Pinky's voice, his familiar tones bringing a smile to Faith's face. "Brain and I need some extra money for the fall season, so here we are, selling desserts. Narf!"
Faith laughed and explained, "My mom is going to talk to me about getting a job taking care of pets for different owners. If I were to take care of two lab mice from Acme Labs, I would have a lot of fun with them!"
Maurice, speaking as The Brain, nodded appreciatively. "Indeed. Disguises are essential. It's one of the masterclass lessons Animaniacs had last spring."
"I love those MasterClasses," Faith said. "They teach so much about the art of disguise and appearances."
Maurice and Rob, both members of Faith's F.L.A.R.E.S team, appreciated her enthusiasm. Faith then mentioned needing something to give to her mom, Sharon.
Rob, still in character as Pinky, handed her a variety of pies: blueberry, pumpkin, banana cream, and cherry. "Here you go! One for you and some for your mom. Narf!"
Tony, curious about his daughter's secret life, asked, "Faith, are you the leader of F.L.A.R.E.S?"
Faith beamed. "Yes, Dad, I am!"
As they continued to walk, Faith noticed it was Adventure Week on Pokémon GO. She tried to catch an Amaura but got distracted by the delicious smell of fried chicken sandwiches. Despite her petite frame of 120 pounds, she couldn't resist and devoured five sandwiches. Feeling satisfied but slightly overstuffed, she struggled to carry her boxes of pies.
Maurice offered to help by placing the pies in a moveable shopping bag. As they continued, Faith spotted an Applin near an apple vendor.
"Oh my goodness, it's an Applin!" Faith exclaimed, pulling out her cleverly disguised Rotom Phone.
"Applin, the Apple Core Pokémon. A Grass and Dragon type. Applin is born inside an apple and will spend its entire life inside that same apple. It uses the body fluids surrounding its body to make its skin ripe so it doesn't rot," her Rotom Phone explained.
The Applin, frightened by the apple pie Faith was holding, scurried away. "Wait, come back!" Faith cried, chasing after it.
She sent out her Starly to help find the Applin. Starly quickly located it near a cake vendor and gently grabbed it with its talons, returning it to Faith. The Applin hid inside Faith's bag, feeling safe.
(Part 2 will be coming soon...!)

This month, the FREE Lobotomy Room cinema club presents Satan in High Heels (1962)! 20 June 2024 at Fontaine’s bar!
Hard-boiled and stylish, Satan in High Heels represents the acme of early sixties sexploitation cinema NOT made by Russ Meyer. Characterized by exceptionally good acting, atmospheric film noir black-and-white cinematography and an urgent jazz soundtrack, Satan was filmed in just 21 days with an estimated budget of less than $100,000 – and is a taut 89-minute journey into deep sleaze!
Weary of her hard-scrabble two-bit existence bumping-and-grinding in the carnival, scheming, manipulative and utterly amoral fairground burlesque dancer Stacey Kane (Meg Myles) ditches her useless junkie husband and flees to New York to re-invent herself as a singer. Cynically employing sex and a smile, the redheaded vixen inveigles her way into a gig crooning at the upscale Greenwich Village nightclub managed by fiercely chic and jaded lesbian proprietress Pepe (the reliably intense Grayson Hall). Stacey promptly becomes the mistress of wealthy married businessman Arnold Kenyon, but – to considerably complicate things – she also pursues Kenyon’s feckless beatnik son Laurence! As the poster’s tagline leers “The father … the son … the husband … the lover … they all had her … but she had them – right where the heat was hottest!”
Aside from some fleeting glimpses of side boob in a gratuitous skinny-dipping scene, no actual nudity is on display. But Satan’s producer Leonard Burtman’s background was in the realm of fetish porn magazines and that sensibility is amply reflected onscreen in the emphasis on Stacey’s spike-heeled Spring-o-Lator mules and the kinky black leather dominatrix ensemble she wears (complete riding crop) growling the climactic musical number “The Female of the Species” (sample lyric: "I'm the kind of woman/ Not hard to understand / I'm the kind that cracks the whip / And takes the upper hand"). Everyone snarls their tough-as-nails dialogue, chain-smokes and knocks-back hard liquor. (You could play a fun drinking game taking a sip every time a character onscreen does, but it would risk projectile vomiting).
Lobotomy Room is the FREE monthly film club devoted to Bad Movies for Bad People! Third Thursday night of every month downstairs at Fontaine’s cocktail lounge in Dalston. Numbers are limited, so reserve your seat via Fontaine’s website. Alternatively, phone 07718000546 or email [email protected]. The film starts at 8:30 pm. Doors to the basement Bamboo Lounge open at 8:00 pm. To ensure everyone is seated and cocktails are ordered on time, please arrive by 8:15 pm at the latest. Event page.

Two posts ago, I wrote...
Does it convince Warner Bros. heads to dust off COYOTE VS. ACME? Does it convince studios to make more 2D films? As for that first one, I have no idea. That is, if it didn’t factually get Zas'ed and could see a release. It’s been unclear since spring 2024, I feel. The asking price for it ballooned past $70m as far as I know, and that’s a number I don’t see EARTH BLEW UP making worldwide.
But I’ll happily wish to be proven wrong on all of that.
...
Pinch me!
Well look at that...
This little Ketchup Entertainment company out here doing more for the Looney Tunes, an American institution coming up on its 95th anniversary, than their owners - Warner Bros. Discovery - have been. Warner Bros., of course, having originated the Looney Tunes to begin with. How about that?
Ketchup's plan is to buy COYOTE VS. ACME outright, for around $50m, and give it a theatrical release some time in 2026. Some three years after completion, quite the gap. I'd imagine the marketing campaign behind it being "The Looney Tunes Movie you almost never saw!" "ACME tried to cover this up!"
Deadline says nothing is set in stone, and that there's a chance things fall through, "but it’s heading in the right direction." Fingers crossed!
As we all know, Ketchup came to the rescue of another abandoned Looney Tunes movie, the lower-budget intended-for-Max THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP. Max was at one point intended to be the home for COYOTE VS. ACME as well, until it was decided to up it to theatrical status... Only for it to lose that, and maybe even a chance at being seen. As for EARTH BLEW UP, as I'm sure you know, that's currently playing on big screens. Likely somewhere near you, too. While it only collected $3m on its opening weekend, that's not stopping Ketchup for sinking its teeth into COYOTE VS. ACME. They must have the dough, I assume. This company previously released films such as Michael Mann's FERRARI, HYPNOTIC, and what appears to be a Hellboy ashcan film.
And if anything, we still gotta remember the work GFM Animation put in when acquiring THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP from Warner last year and shopping it around for buyers, GFM wanted for it to be a theatrical release to some degree. It was their dedication that landed the picture's U.S. distribution in Ketchup's hands, in addition to European distributors a year ago. Now look where we are.
Looks like Warner Bros. ultimately didn't tax write-off black hole COYOTE VS. ACME after all, because this wouldn't be on the table if that were the case. Whereas SCOOB! HOLIDAY HAUNT and BATGIRL, those were made unreleasable, so I'm not sure a similar thing could happen to one of those. SCOOB! would be the likelier of the two to get saved because BATGIRL was of the old DCEU, which hard resets - on the live-action end of things - in a few months w/ James Gunn's SUPERMAN. So far, there don't seem to be any movie plans with Scooby-Doo, but there certainly will be some time in the future. SCOOB! HOLIDAY HAUNT served as a prequel to 2020's SCOOB!, an intended launchpad to an animated Hanna-Barbera movieverse that didn't really materialize, so I don't see it getting saved either.
That's a big problem whenever there's a merger or administration change at these big studios. The stuff made under the previous regime is usually ignored, or treated like a bandaid to be ripped YEOUCH! Like how MGM didn't give much love to THE SECRET OF NIMH when releasing it in the summer of 1982, a little after they had bought their distributor United Artists. Or how Warner Bros. bought Turner in the mid-90s, and just dumped Turner Animation's debut picture CATS DON'T DANCE in the early spring of 1997. There are always those pictures that just get dropped, no confidence is in them, etc. The ones that don't line up with the future agenda of the new leaders. COYOTE VS. ACME was of the AT&T-era Warner, made during a different administration of what used to be called Warner Animation Group. After Zaslav, it became Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, former DreamWorks exec Bill Damaschke became the new creative leader, and the first film bearing the logo - THE CAT IN THE HAT - is presumably less than a year away from release. (Currently scheduled for March 6, 2026, the same day as Pixar's HOPPERS.) CAT's the relaunch of Warner animated movies right there. This iteration of Warner theatrical animation also has a "super secret" Looney Tunes project of their own in development for a possible 2028 release, so that acts as their replacement of sorts for the Looney Tunes movie that was already in the works when they came in. So they're not done with Looney Tunes, they just scrapped two movies they didn't launch. David Zaslav's tactics are a rather extreme version of these usual transitional pains, opting to just straight up lock movies away and offload other projects (like this, DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP, and BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER).
Hell, imagine if Warner had sold stuff like HOLIDAY HAUNT to a Ketchup-esque company in 2022, if not Ketchup themselves? Instead of writing them off? Would've been a better way for them to get those off their hands than what they ended up doing.
But in the end, you don't mess with the Looney Tunes!
So yeah, it's a massive win if the ketchup gets the coyote. Any little thing we can have in these hell-times for everyone and for the animation industry and peoples' hard work, is a big plus by me.

Fun In The Sun: Orlando 2024
New Post has been published on https://esonetwork.com/fun-in-the-sun-orlando-2024/
Fun In The Sun: Orlando 2024

Fun In The Sun: Orlando 2024 is the 14th episode of the HAVE COFFEE WILL TRAVEL Podcast.
Our 2024 Orlando and Grand Rapids vacation. Every day is an adventure. Join us as we break down each day’s events into small, bite-size chunks. What did we do? Where did we go? Who did we see?
Day 1: Crazy weather travel day. Our 4 hour drive took us 6 hours. Our Allegiant flight was delayed. We made it to Orlando, had dinner and went for a walk around our resort neighbourhood.
Day 2. Sunday shopping. Picked up groceries for the week at Walmart. Went for breakfast at IHOP. The coffee was gross. The food was just OK. Thrifting in Kissimmee is lackluster. The flea markets are sad and all the same. We finished the day with a bath, drinking wine and reading.
Day 3. Monday adventures. Orlando’s Vineland outlets. Batmobile Crocs. Disney Springs desserts and the Earl of Sandwich. Jollywood Nights was awesome. We got on Rise of the Resistance without any waiting. And we finally got to ride Slinky Dog. The fireworks were great the the good was fantastic.
Day 4. We went to the Lakeland Antique Mall. Lots of fun stuff to see. The time flew by. The layout and upkeep was awful. Too expensive for most things. The dessert we bought in Disney Springs yesterday from Amorette’s Patisserie was delicious.
Day 5. Wednesday was a shopping day. Davey’s Toys was a highlight. The Mercantile was a surprise find that we enjoyed. Acme Toy Warehouse was huge and had lots of vintage, but overpriced stuff. The Lindor store had the best Lindt chocolate. We got some bears at Goodwill and a few things from the Disney Character Warehouse.
Day 6. Orlando Beer Spa. Thursday was mainly about relaxation.
Day 7. Bishop’s birthday. A paddle boat ride. Visiting with Jarman and Jolie and having a few games, drinks and laughs.
Final Entry. Wrapping up the weekend. Saturday was travel from Orlando to Grand Rapids. We checked out some antiques. Sunday was more antiques, the Lush store and TSO. The Trans Siberian Orchestra put on an amazing show. Staying at Spark by Hilton was something else. Not the worst hotel, but definitely could have been better. Fun In The Sun: Orlando 2024 is complete.
