Small announcement as we all wait patiently for my storytelling bones to revive after summer ended and I’ve gone back to teaching (it’s been dreadful btw, 8th graders are mean).

In between writing my new series coming up, I’ve been going back and rewriting an older series that needed some revamping! This first series is one I loved the concept of, but after reading through it, I was cringing horribly at how cliche and annoying I had written the main character. The story had a good basis, but lord, was I pulling from my limited knowledge of how to make a story intriguing and original.

With all that being said… I’ve gone through and re-wrote it! If you’ve read it in the past and liked it, see what you think on what a more well-seasoned🧂🧅🧄 author can do now ;)

If you haven’t read it yet, it’s ok. I started it again recently and had many epiphanies of my cringey pick-me-girl language I gave my lead… BUT it should be MUCH BETTER now!! And who knows, 3 years from now, I’ll be making it even better. For now, I’m happier with it than before.

I’m hoping to get the first 5 chapters released sometime this weekend after I do a final run-through, but this series should be posted in completion in a week.

When You Call Part 15 Dropping Tonight!

Hi everyone,

I am sorry I took such a long hiatus, it was hit after hit these last few years and I lost my spark for writing. I couldn't see myelself writing SPN again, due to the trauma I experienced. My depression, anxiety and everything else got in the way of me doing what I love doing.

Sam and Dean, fireworks for Fourth of July

Dean was still giggling as they walked away from the roadside stand.

“Dean, please stop,” Sam begged, shaking his head.

“They’re legal, Sammy!” Dean smiled wide, shaking the several boxes of fireworks piled into his arms. ”We’ve come so far. From buying those duct taped makeshift ones from that redneck pyromaniac’s basement and almost setting that field on fire, to buying them legally on the side of the road right outside a major city. Progress, Sam. It’s progress.”

“Progress that ends in more idiots blowing their fingers off,” Sam muttered, following Dean as he practically danced his way to the car.

“If you blow your fingers off when the instructions are right on the side of the box,” Dean shrugged, “well, stupidity ain’t just something that comes with fireworks.”

Sam looked down at his watch. “I just don’t understand why they’re selling them so early. July first is over a week away.”

“So people can annoy their neighbors with patriotism!” Dean shouted, holding up a box that advertised a red, white, and blue American flag design firework.

“Right,” Sam opened his door and rested his arms on the hood of the Impala. “And what about people with PTSD? Or military vets? Or animals that don’t know what’s happening?”

“Don’t worry, Sammy, I have a plan.” Dean loaded the fireworks into the trunk, then frowned. “Maybe we should keep them away from the gascans and ammo.”

Sam chuckled as his brother moved the boxes into the backseat. “Yeah, probably a good idea.”

Almost nine hours of driving later, Dean turned off the highway onto a muddy road, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. A few miles later, he came to a stop in a clearing between two fields of trees.

Sam yawned, rubbing his eyes, admiring the pretty blues and deep pinks of the dusk sky; the sun had set almost a half hour ago. “Where are we?”

“Nowhere,” Dean said, jumping out of the car. “There’s nobody around for almost twenty miles in any direction. These fields aren’t owned by anybody and it just rained here a couple hours ago, so nothing is really flammable.”

“Right.” Sam was honestly impressed with Dean’s level of research and planning, stretching when he got out of the car.

“Grab the cooler, I’ll get these babies set up.” Dean raised his firework-ladden arms and jogged about a hundred feet away into the clearing, tearing open boxes and setting up fuses.

Sam leaned against the front of the Impala, pulled two beers from the cooler, and popped the caps off, setting one down on the ground for Dean and taking a sip of the other. It took Dean another ten minutes before he was all set up, and the sky was fully dark. The flick of a lighter had Sam straightening up, and he watched Dean bend down and light the end of one of the fuses before running back over and joining his brother.

“Here we go,” Dean giggled, scooping his beer bottle from the ground and taking a sip, sitting down on the front of the Impala and watching the field with giddy excitement.

The first firework shot up into the sky before exploding in a spray of bright blue, which faded into a crackle of gold sparkles. Dean had set the fuses up to run in succession, and the second firework shot off a few moments later, bright red exploding in the night sky.

Sam looked over at the pure joy on Dean’s face, seeing the same look of wonder and happiness his brother had back in 1996.
