Small announcement as we all wait patiently for my storytelling bones to revive after summer ended and I’ve gone back to teaching (it’s been dreadful btw, 8th graders are mean).

In between writing my new series coming up, I’ve been going back and rewriting an older series that needed some revamping! This first series is one I loved the concept of, but after reading through it, I was cringing horribly at how cliche and annoying I had written the main character. The story had a good basis, but lord, was I pulling from my limited knowledge of how to make a story intriguing and original.

With all that being said… I’ve gone through and re-wrote it! If you’ve read it in the past and liked it, see what you think on what a more well-seasoned🧂🧅🧄 author can do now ;)

If you haven’t read it yet, it’s ok. I started it again recently and had many epiphanies of my cringey pick-me-girl language I gave my lead… BUT it should be MUCH BETTER now!! And who knows, 3 years from now, I’ll be making it even better. For now, I’m happier with it than before.

I’m hoping to get the first 5 chapters released sometime this weekend after I do a final run-through, but this series should be posted in completion in a week.

DPxDC: Mentorship Program

After Jason's death, Dick struggled a lot. He felt like a failure. He felt that maybe, if he had just been there, he could have stopped it. But he wasn't there. Even before that, he never made himself available to Jason as a big brother. Too caught up in his complex feelings about Bruce to think about how it would affect the kid and now it was too late. But... maybe it's not too late to help other kids.

Dick signed up for a mentorship program that would pair adults up with middle schoolers as pen pals. He got paired with a young boy named Danny Fenton. They would write back and forth with questions and advice, jokes, and life stories. All of the mentors letters were screened by the teachers before being given to the kids to avoid any weirdos trying anything funny, but once the kids aged out of middle school they could choose to stop the pen pal program or continue on their own without teacher facilitation. Danny and Dick had grown really close over the course of the program so when Danny aged out, he sent one more letter.

Dear Dick,

So I guess I'm aged out of the mentorship program now? They said that I don't have to continue having a pen pal anymore if I don't want to but I've really enjoyed talking with you. If you would still want to stay in contact, my number is (XXX) XXX-XXXX. No pressure if you don't want to tho. If I don't end up hearing from you again, thank you for everything. You've been a great mentor.

Dick absolutely wants to keep contact with Danny so he texts him as soon as he gets that letter. They get even closer now that they're able to text and call, getting a response immediately instead of waiting for mail time. Dick has truly come to care for this kid as if he was one of his brothers.

So when Dick got a call one day, shortly after Danny turned 14, his heart shattered. Something happened and Danny sounded terrified. Dick gets flashbacks to a younger brother. A sweet boy who deserved the world but only got pain.

He wasn't there for Jason, but god help whoever tries to get in his way of being there for Danny.

I was gonna do a simple realistic study at first. But, after seeing his tears being confirmed I just had to add the detail💔 I haven't put so much time into rendering such small detail anymore since I don't want to stress my eyes out but I really love painting him in this shot. the lighting is just breathtakingly beautiful, the reflections and glow enhance his shape make him even prettier✨🧡

Just a question that started festering in my noggin for some reason, but-

Does J ever like.. Start "bonding" with N and V again? (if she ever did in the first place-) Ik that her and Uzi have some form of begruding tolerance/hesitant "friendship" but what about her two coworkers?

Yeah!! the story is largely about recovery, and that includes J repairing her relationships w the rest of the squad (restart in N’s case LOL) and making new friends too.

progress isn’t made overnight though, she can barely trust Tessa at first- thinking she may be another solver trick. So it’s a real slow roll up (and some back steps) to her warming up to actual friendship and affection.

So J’s a widdle fucked up- as are the rest of the DD’s- there’s a lot of hurt feelings and distrust between them all to get over. it takes a while on all sides, but the power of friendship gets to her eventually lol.

thinking about how chase had a protection app because his father didn't believe he'd be able to use his intelligence (AND OTHER ABILITIES) to protect himself. thinking about how spike only showed up when his siblings were being awful to chase, and not during any actual life-or-death fight. thinking about the trauma chase must have realizing that, how much he hates spike, and how the show could've approached this in a more nuanced way but alas the show was a disney sitcom

AU where instead of kicking Stanley out, Filbrick has Stanley "kidnapped" to one of those shitty wilderness therapy programs for "troubled kids".

Stanley does not have a good time and at some point has reached a breaking point and he writes a secret message in one of his monthly letters to his family asking Ford for help.

And despite still being angry at him for the science fair, Ford immediately tries to find a way to break him out
